I think verifying the integrity of the game files will solve this issue. You can do this by doing the following: in your steam game library click with the right mouse button on DayZ -> Properties -> Local files -> Verify integrity of game files. Edit: I now see this is for the mod. Still, try the same thing but instead of DayZ right click on Arma 2: DayZ Mod.

I don't think that things like "Press/mash [button] to break free" will work in an online game or for DayZ in particular. Unless it can be designed in a way that it looks immersive and fits the game(play). A great example is breaking out of restraints. It doesn't trigger a sequence of animations or actions. That would be the only way how things like this could work in DayZ, in my opinion.

New player controller? Wtf? Edit: Why is this in the mod section by the way?

Herp derp, the title is even framed chernarus map. o.O Stupid me haha.
-
Nice to see you got your goodies. :) I wouldn't mark the map as of yet because it might change a bit here and there. I wouldn't draw on the map by the way, not even with an erasable marker. Frame that fucker and draw on the glass. :)

I'd say, do it the other way around. It's way easier to get a working, high caliber gun from a military base. Also, probably the best gun you will get is a Mosin, Winchester, B95, 1911 or MP5, maybe a SKS if you're lucky. That will provide a nice challenge.

I think the crosshair is good the way it is. With only the dot how it used to be it will be too easy.

As someone who knows a bit about game development, programming and the DayZ development cycle, I get your frustration. But your idea is just not possible at the moment because the developers are at a point where pushing weekly updates is either not possible or just a waste of time. The reason for this is neatly explained by Emuthreat in his post. I do get frustrated sometimes by the bugs as well, like the other day I got the 1 FPS bug on a full pop server right before entering Tisy. At that location and with a queue it is pretty annoying. We can not do anything else at this point then just wait and hope we're at 0.63 soon.

By the way, maybe it would be a good thing to replace the "severe weather warning" BattlEye announcement with a link to this topic. I think it's a real big decision for and by the community. By this way you also protect yourself against people who complain afterwards because it has been announced multiple times.

Vehicle Desync - Will this be addressed soon?
IMT replied to Storymaster's topic in General Discussion
Vehicle desync at this moment is poorly because of server performance. It has nothing to do with the vehicles itself because last time I drove a vehicle on a low pop server it was acceptable. On a med to high pop server it's a whole other story. That's because server performance overall is bad, which is a known issue for them and they explained the cause in one of the status reports and are working on a solution. I would like to see these problems fixed just as much as you but there is nothing for us to do then wait. -
Hmm, it's hard to give a definite opinion on this one. The public hive let us play with a character on the server and you can join another server the next day and your character is still there. You might have not your stuff which is tied to the server itself (vehicles, tents, etc.) but your character persists. Should the home server where you play on go dark then you still have your character on another public hive server. With the private hive you have only one character across that hive which means if the server goes dark and you put a lot of effort and time in that character, all that went to waste. At that point you're basically homeless or in this case, serverless. However, the private hive makes it more personal. It will have more regulars and the community is very different and plays very differently compared to the public hive. I also believe that private hive servers are more actively monitored and the admins are closer to its community because it has more regulars. And of course there is the fact that the private hive is less vulnerable for dupers and gear-up servers. Although people can rent 2 servers which are connected to the same hive, one where the admins gear up and the other one where they play so that still will be a thing. Personally I don't rent a server and never have but I understand why someone would pick a public hive over a private hive. At this moment DayZ servers are already very expensive and private hive servers are even more expensive. Now, if I need to weigh the pro's against the con's, I would say yes, get rid of the public hive. Lately I have been only playing on private hives and I very much enjoy it. I also like the fact that I can directly contact the admins and they really want to put an effort into their server to keep it alive.

Why does it still feel like im 'driving' a tank, instead of a dude wearing a t-shirt.
IMT replied to stilton's topic in General Discussion
I don't need to give any one permission to post, people are free to do as they like. However, people who create topics or post messages which don't contribute to the development are a waste of everyone's time, not only mine or Bohemia's but yours as well. It also doesn't help the community because the people who actually follow the development and are active on the forums will respond negatively on these topics or messages. The reason why your topic doesn't contribute towards the development is because these problems are going to be fixed as soon as the new player controller and animation system is in place. What you are doing now is giving useless feedback and criticizing for no reason. If your feedback was rather a question if the player controls are going to change and how, you would've gotten a completely different reply from me. It's good that you want to voice your opinion but if you want to voice your opinion you need to know something about the subject. Another thing, you are making a topic on a board where everyone can read it and react to it. If we're not allowed to tell you that your topic is useless feedback then nobody would reply and you would be left in the dark with no answers. -

Who am I? My name is to the left but to make it easy for you, I'm IMT. How can it be the developers responsibility if a (virtual) input device interferes with the mouse? You could clearly see that it was interfering with the game and that was because your mouse was behaving in a weird way. I welcome feedback but I only welcome it from people who actually know shit and you sir, don't know shit. The network synchronization issue is known. It's mentioned in the begin post of almost all the fucking Experimental threads so that figures how much you have read up about the game. To come back to your original question, I'm someone who actually reads and posts a lot on these forums, specially the Stable and Experimental threads. I'm someone who is informed instead of stomping my feet like a child screaming that it's shit but don't know anything about what's going on or what's to come. I don't give a shit about how many posts someone has or when they joined the forums. As long as they can contribute in a way that shows that they are up-to-date with the game, development and their knowledge then they are welcome to post. The only thing you're doing here is making yourself look ridiculous but fear not, you're not the first person. -

Ugh, another uninformed/misinformed user, something which is maybe too hard for the average forum user. If you actually read up on the development you would've known that they are busy with a brand new player controller which is going to make controlling your character much more fluently. Also, the issue you mentioned is something I haven't read about so it's only you or an handful of other players. Rather then blaming the developers, maybe take a look at your own setup. Maybe there is an input device which messes up? I had this issue in Arma 2 where I couldn't look around with alt and that was because of a virtual input device. I'm so sick of these threads where people spew shit out of their mouths but are misinformed, scratch that, uninformed. -
How to report a player to the admin?
IMT replied to beentheredonethat's topic in New Player Discussion
As far as I know they regularly check the logs for player against player hits or kills and ban them without knowing the background. I might sound harsh but it keeps the server clean. If you get banned for accidentally shooting your buddy or another player you need to make a ban appeal on their Discord with proof/background and they will unban you if it checks out. -
Not the first time that intoxication gets you killed. Remember the time at the NWAF where you missed that dude in the scumbag bunker at 3 meters with a shotgun? It was really painful to watch that clip. Maybe some day it will actually save your life. A situation where you would miss the shot when sober but it hit because you were intoxicated.

Dayz Veteran but not sure best way to meet my friend in game
IMT replied to redmantab's topic in General Discussion
Meeting up is not that hard to be honest. It also depends on the situation a bit. Usually when we're geared and we want to meet each other we pick a location which is approximately equal distance. When going there we regularly ask our current location and if needed change the meeting point. This also applies to when we're both fresh spawn but it will take a little longer because of looting. Again, keep each other up-to-date with your location and change the meeting point if needed. When one is geared and one is a fresh spawn you also pick a location but this time you pick a location which is closer for the fresh spawn so he or she can gear up. There is nothing really to it, specially if you're a veteran. By the way, please do not commit suicide to get a spawn close to each other. It is NOT the way the game is played. I do agree with this idea, I rarely use suicide to get a better spawn. Usually these are rare situations like the time MadHatter shot me by accident and I didn't have the time to loot up to get back to you guys for my gear. Normally I take the spawn I get, even if it's a spawn as bad as Skalisty. I think more people should do this because it will make you value your character more. It should be in the back of your head each time you do something risky, that you might have to run back a long way. I pretty much see myself as a DayZ veteran. I know my way around the map without the use of a map, I can pretty much survive anything by myself, I have a lot of hours in-game, I can sustain myself in a firefight or can get away when needed and I know what to do in which situation. -
Another thing I would like to add to that. Settings on very low does not equal good FPS. If your settings are on very low, your processor will probably do most of the work rather than the GPU. Sometimes raising your settings can give you a better FPS than lowering.

How to report a player to the admin?
IMT replied to beentheredonethat's topic in New Player Discussion
As far as I know, Weyland is the owner of all 3 servers and it fits indeed the profile of that server, that's why I wanted to make sure. In order to report it you need to go on Discord and make a report. To be honest, I believe they ban every player which kills another player automatically because they check the logs regulary. But still, to make sure that this person gets banned, type the link in the browser, make an account and report him in the right chat or what ever it's called. Discord is something like Teamspeak, only a bit different because you can chat and read the chat back. In no way, shape or form do they get any personal information from you as far as I know. -

It would be helpful if you gave some more information about this server. Is it the DayZ Colony US-3 server? -
Just saying that these things are already in. That of course doesn't mean multiple options can't or shouldn't be added.
-
All 3 ideas are already realized within the game except for the pain reliever and diarrhea part. Birch bark is already in the game, you can use it to make a fireplace. Russian and US crash sites both got separate loot tables, the Russian has mostly eastern loot and the US has mostly NATO loot. There are charcoal tabs in the game to cure yourself from bad food you ate.

I agree with you and so does Bohemia, that's why they are giving that presentation. They made mistakes and they learned from their mistakes. Now they try to keep future companies/developers from making the same mistakes. And lord that comment section on YouTube, they completely missed the point of the presentation. Makes me think a big chunk of the people on this earth are retarded.

Holy shit, what a status report! I'm speechless, just speechless. The new vegetation looks like a completely different Chernarus. It looks amazing, I can not wait to walk through the new forests with the new environmental sounds, it will be so immersive. I'm also glad Eugen touched on the early access subject and I hope that a lot of people now understand why things are taking so long. Keep it up, DayZ is an already amazing game but this, right now, is just the icing on the cake. I can not wait to play the final product, the best survival game out there. Once that day comes, I'm happy that I was part of and followed the process. Thank you!

"Mods" have been in all along, in the form of SQF and now in the form of EnfusionScript. But as long as the players don't have the server files, documentation and information, we can't do much. Those last two are already there as well as some examples of scripts, good luck finding 'em. :)
