I'm kind of in the same boat as Tatanko. I would wait for 0.63 (beta) to drop and see how everyone likes it and if it lives up to everyone's expectations and make your decision from that. Personally I would say, yes buy the game if you like the mod. I haven't played the mod in its glory days but have played the mod a bit about a year ago. I have to say, I missed a few things from the Standalone and think the Standalone is better. Yes, unfortunately most players are hostile and don't even want to interact with another. I think this might change in the future as the game will get a bit harder. At the moment there is no way of hosting your own server or modding. However, in the (near) future we will be able to host our own server, play in singleplayer and mod the game to our liking.

Well, they didn't really hid inside the tree itself but rather in the branches. In the beginning of 0.62 this wasn't possible which they changed again.

Ghehe Emuthreat, ThurmanMerman and I shot at them on the castle. Both Emuthreat and ThurmanMerman got killed so I decided to up there and either go in and die or talk to them. Talked to them for a while and then I left. :P

Glad to read where the team is currently at with the game. After 0.62 hit Experimental I'm really looking forward to seeing 0.63 hitting Experimental. I hardly can't wait, it will be glorious! :)

Going to turn 25 in june, just hit 2 k hours with the start of 0.62 and live in <---

Because they developed their own engine which will suit DayZ much better than Unreal Engine 4 or any other engine would do.

[0.62 EXP] Black Screen During Recording
IMT replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
This is the thing which worked for me. Haven't tried the resolution thing which @TomCGaming mentioned. I had the same thing when I started recording with OBS, luckily after a bit of searching on the forums I got it to work and still use OBS today. :) -
Did you delete the folder where your config files are situated Documents\DayZ?
-
It is definitely the reason. Delete your config files and do them via in-game settings.

The showcase of the new castle in the western expansion. Sorry for the nighttime.

That everyone assumes someone who is in a full leather kit is friendly but they may in fact be bandits. :)
-
A good while back I mentioned "modding" was already in, if you would know where to look you could find it. Guess someone found it as well. :) There is even an entire documentation with all the classes, methods, properties, etc. currently written. People can actually already start writing scripts if they want.

I hope they don't make it too easy to get in someone's base. Of course there need to be ways to get in otherwise it will be implemented badly. I do hope they stay away from "oh look, a base. Alright, let's just do this and this aaaaand I'm in". But I'm hoping with the addition of the stamina system it won't be so easy to finds bases as it has been. In fact, I think even less people will look for bases because it will be a lot more boring. Let's be honest here, DayZ, while still in an early stadium has already a big plus in character customization and that is the shit ton of clothing which the game has. Almost no one looks the same, everyone has their own personal style of clothing which makes this game so great. Even though everyone looks different, you still need to memorize the entire kit of your buddies because memorizing only one piece of clothing won't suffice. Not only does everyone look different, it is hard to tell what the intentions of someone are. Of course there are some stereotypes like the clowns masks being a bandit, etc. but you will never know the true intention of someone unless you're going to try and find out. A person with a clown mask might be friendly while the person in full leather kit is really a bandit. That's why I hope DayZ isn't getting any form of character title/status/kit like the mod has with the bandit, survivor and hero.

I'm really looking forward to base building because it gives you an "home". Not only that, there will be simple bases and advanced bases. Of course a solo player goes for the simple base but I'm going for the advanced one to keep myself occupied with DayZ. :)

Hello survivors, as we all know, currently in-game there is the Mosin, an commonly used bolt-action rifle from World War II by the Soviets. There are not a lot of them but that makes sense since it is from World War II. I'm kind of a fanatic if it comes to World War II and the weapons from that war. I was thinking since we have the Mosin, why not have the PPSh-41 as well? Most of you who played Call of Duty 1 or World at War or other World War II games probably know the gun. You would probably also know that it is an absolute beast. The PPSh-41 is a submachine gun and was a common weapon used by the Soviet soldiers. It fires the 7.62x25mm Tokarev round and there was a 35 round magazine for the gun and of course the well known 71 round drum magazine. But that is not what makes this gun unique, it is the RPM which makes this gun an absolute beast, specially in close quarter situations. It fires 900 to over 1000 rounds/min, which will shred anyone apart at close quarter if the rate is combined with the drum mag. Not only would the gun be an absolute beast in close quarter situations, it also looks good in my opinion. And we all know that the designers know what quality is so I'm sure it will be an absolute beautiful beast in DayZ. I would love to see this gun implemented in DayZ and would probably be my goto gun for close quarter. In my opinion, since the gun is so old it should be rare, perhaps chopper crash site only when their loot tables are fixed. There should be both the 35 round magazine but more commonly the 71 drum magazine. Thoughts, comments, additions? Please let them know, I'm curious how you guys think about this gun. I am not obsessed with the game, at all. It's probably the fact that I'm smart enough that I actually know what game development means and what the process of the development team is. And really, comparing this to (neo-)nazism? Oh boy... As I already said, smart enough.
-
I don't think it's a good idea because... hold on someone is saying something in my real life global chat. Oh, never mind it was just that someone got killed on the other side of the country. To be honest, you disappoint me. Reading seems to be hard in this community. Well, let's make it all over the world, not only this community.

Clearly that is a Russian after a night of drinking. Only thing I can't find is the unicycle.

Nuff said, specially Staroye, Novy and Stary Sobor and Gorka are the hotspots currently. Congratulations with the 2 k posts by the way. :)
-
Not sure to be honest, you're always free to test it, for science of course. :)
-
My reaction to this: there is still too much canned food in the game, reduce it please. :)
-
Yes, maybe YOU need to open your eyes in order to see the bigger picture. I rather wish you looked up some information or video's about game development and in particular game engine's.

I never had that disease but your wounds are infected. Tetracycline antibiotics might fix it and to prevent your wounds from getting infected, you can clean rags with alcohol tincure.

Alpha The alpha phase of the release life cycle is the first phase to begin software testing (alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, used as the number 1). In this phase, developers generally test the software using white-box techniques. Additional validation is then performed using black-box or gray-box techniques, by another testing team. Moving to black-box testing inside the organization is known as alpha release.[1] Alpha software can be unstable and could cause crashes or data loss. Alpha software may not contain all of the features that are planned for the final version.[2] In general, external availability of alpha software is uncommon in proprietary software, while open source software often has publicly available alpha versions. The alpha phase usually ends with a feature freeze, indicating that no more features will be added to the software. At this time, the software is said to be feature complete.
