  1. First of all, who said that they were removing dispersion because of consoles? It's something which the community came up with and many stepped on that train and now it's generally believed that that's the reason why they took out dispersion. Give me a reason why it would benefit the console release because I can't think of one. Second, it doesn't make any sense that things which do work out for both PC and consoles are good but the things which only works out better for consoles are automatically bad for the game. It's not me who turned this into "pcmasterrace vs console", it's the people who don't like it because the option is supposedly removed for the console release who started the narrative. Third, it's perfectly possible to have code for a specific platform, I saw it with my own eyes in the scripts, so the console is not the reason why dispersion is getting removed. And finally, they stated many times that the PC version has priority and after the PC version they are going to work fully on the console release.
  2. Oh just stop it! I don't hear you complain about the player (interaction) controller which is designed with the idea of consoles in mind. But because this works out for the PC version it's ok? I'm not a fan of consoles but this is just ridiculous. Whine about it if it doesn't work out but it's ok if it does work out.
  3. It might be just me of course, misjudging the distance where the bullet landed. I do remember testing the 7.62x39 with the SKS and PU scope vs the 7.62x54 with the Mosin and PU scope. I notice that at a certain distance with the 7.62x39 (I believe it was 550 m) and you shoot at a building the bullet is either way too high or way too low depending if you zero in at 500 or 600 meters. Then I tried to do the same with the 7.62x54 and it hit spot on. I guess it has to do with the effective range of the 7.62x39 but that's another topic. But yeah, in my opinion I would like to see as much authenticity as possible but it should be properly implemented of course.
  4. First of all, I'm not an expert when it comes to guns or ballistics. But I had many instances where I had to shoot 10 times to hit an unconscious body or a player with broken legs. Now, if we're talking about the dispersion of the first image where the bullets are spread a few centimeters then yeah, I'm all for that. But in my cases many times the bullets were 2 to 3 meters from my target, that is a bit severe in my opinion. Again, I don't know much about guns or ballistics but I would suspect that if you shoot at something perfectly still and your gun is perfectly zeroed, you're going to hit the target, even though it's a few centimers off from where you aimed. But seeing a bullet go 2 meters from your target to the left or right is weird.

    3D Weapon scopes

3D scopes obviously. It's one of the things that EFT has absolutely right and that is the guns. I wish DayZ has more of that like modifying your weapons. Now you can only change the handguard and buttstock but in EFT there is so much more possible which makes it possible for people to have a suppressed SKS. This is something I would love to see in DayZ.

    BattleEye client not responding.

Wow, really? You expect a community manager to respond on a sunday, when they are not at work? Perhaps they do respond sometimes in the weekend but if they don't, I most certainly wouldn't hate them for it. I seriously get the feeling I need to make a YouTube video on how to survive in the current patch.

Good to know, thanks for the information. Although we haven't seen any apples yesterday at all but that might be because of a player or multiple players which picked them up before us. Had the same happen to me at Mista and low and behold, a guy tried to kill me when I was filling my bottle.

Apples now spawn next to the tree. No idea if they respawn, but sometimes you need to look really good to see them. They're not far off the tree though, they're close to the trunk. Berries, I have no idea of, haven't checked those yet. As I said, you're probably right but in DayZ a lot changes, even unannounced. As long as we don't have numbers we can't assume anything. Normally jogging is 2 arrows down on water and 1 or 2 on food. Already here is incosistency since hunger fluctuates between 1 and 2. Yesterday there were some major inconsistencies for me, jogging had 3 arrows for both food and water. Where does this inconsistency come from? Was it the rain, making my clothes heavier? Is it the fact that I was wounded? Was I cold? Are arrows a constant or a variable? So many questions, inconcistencies and variables that coming to a conclusion is hard. I've been sprinting a lot yesterday together with Thurman, from Staroye to Guglovo to Novy and finally Stary. We had no trouble whatsoever with maintaining our stats and we didn't even loot all the houses. You do know that you can still eat or drink even if your icons aren't yellow or red, right? The limit for water used to be 4 liters and a whopping 20.000 calories for energy. I ask this because I have seen enough people only eating or drinking when they're hungry and stop when they're neutral. That means that they're constantly struggling with hunger or thirst.

Well we won't know this absolutely 100 % sure if we don't have the numbers. We can estimate and you're probably right but we won't know for sure. I do know about the arrows and I do know how the icons work and what they represent. But to know what the difference is and if it's positive or negative we need the numbers itself. Testing it is hard as well because, well... we don't have the numbers so the tests aren't 100% accurate. We also don't know how much of an increase/decrease an arrow is. I'm sure we can find the numbers but the question is, do we want to know? Knowing these things makes the game easier of course. That escalated quickly.

That's indeed what's it all about, trying to adept and survive. Make you value your character and the stuff you have. The FAL with mag used to be rare in 0.62, before the gift boxes and dying with one of those made you mad and disappointed. Those deaths gives you some stuff to think about, to learn from that experience and/or mistakes. It's a constant reiteration of trying to survive longer and trying to make your own/character's story better and longer. If I only want to have realistic firefights, I might as well play Arma 3.

The question is, is there a big difference? Sprinting does drain your energy and hydration more but you'll be faster at your destination. I guess whether it makes a positive or negative difference on your energy and hydration depends on the difference in movement speed between jogging and running and the difference in energy and hydration consumption. For me, the stamina bar isn't an "oh no, my energy and hydration consumption is increased" bar but rather an "oh shit, let's gtfo here" panic bar. That's why I jog mostly, so that I quickly can get out of dodge when shit hits the fan. About the difficulty of the game, I think it's still way too easy, energy and hydration wise, specially energy wise. The only struggle you have is at the beginning with your hydration, which I find a bit illogical. If you get a bad spawn and can't find any water, you're doomed from the beginning. This means that you didn't even get the chance to try and survive, even if you know all the survival aspects of DayZ. Food has never been a problem for me, perhaps a little bit at the start of the game but one or two apples will do the trick, even without the apple spam. The problem is that this is hard to balance. If there is almost no food then the beginning gets way too hard but it makes the mid-game more challenging. I don't know with how much energy you spawn in 0.63 but I noticed that your character is thirsty instead of hungry, which is the opposite of 0.62. I think this is much better since water is easier to find, so you can make food harder to find. This means you need to take more care of your character than in the previous versions of the game. It was the water which was the problem, not the food, at least not for me. I think I even was close to or even reached the 20 k calorie cap with a character. With that much calories you can easily sprint multiple times in a circle of the entire map without getting hungry and having to eat anything. Making food harder to come by, makes us less dependent on the canned food and makes more room for creative ways to feed yourself (farming, hunting, fishing, cannibalism, etc.). And for the ones saying "I don't want DayZ to be a farming simulator", there is still the option for F11, so you can eat that bullet to solve your starvation problem. The game is and will be a survival game and not a run & gun game. I'm glad that there is going to be one game (at least I hope) which is going to prioritize character value and survival over guns on every corner and running & gunning. Edit: seems I kind of contradict my own statements by first saying that it's bad to spawn thirsty because it doesn't give you a chance and afterwards saying that it's a good thing since water is easier to find. What I mean is that I think the initial hydration value is a bit too severe at the moment but starting out with a low(er) hydration value is better than spawning hungry.

    So, what happened to Brian?

I'm making assumptions about him not reading the SR or not reading it thoroughly and you are kicking off lies into the world. I'm really wondering who's the rude one here, smh...

    So, what happened to Brian?

If you read his part of the Status Report carefully, you will understand what his role was and why he is leaving. And to be honest, there isn't anything strange about it and actually makes sense.

    Status Report - May 8, 2018

First of all, Brian, thanks for your hard work and for making sure that the game stays on the right track. I wish you good luck with your future projects and who knows, we might see each other in Chernarus. The SR is a long one but glad to hear that everything is taking shape right now and that your worries are now gone. I'm glad that you guys are reading feedback and suggestions and hope that we can see some of that feedback or suggestions back in the game at some time. :) I have used this mechanic, mostly with my melee weapon. It's really neat that you can quickly tear up a shirt into rags without having to open your inventory. I absolutely love the new crafting system and player controller. With most things it feels a lot smoother but not with everything. But the game is most certainly in the right direction and can't wait to play Experimental and beta.

    My .63 Offline Experiences

You mean the icons in-game? It's pretty straightforward, at least for me it was. When there is one or multiple arrows up, you're gaining blood, hunger, thirst, etc. An arrow down or multiple arrows down mean you're losing something. If there are no arrows it means you're good on that part or miss the requirements to gain or lose something. Hunger and thirst will always deplete with at least 1 arrow and depletion depends on what your character does (stand still, jog, sprint, etc). If you drink enough you notice that the glass isn't gaining or losing anything for a very small time period, this means that you managed to reach your maximum hydration level. Maximum calorie level is hard to reach because that was 20 k in 0.62, not sure if this still is the case.

    0.63 Night looks awful

Nighttime for me looks totally different. It is way darker and compared to you I would be at a massive disadvantage. Are you sure that your gamma or brightness isn't set to high? You can also try to adjust it a little bit, this would fix gamma/brightness issues for me in 0.62.

    Dayz starting thing

It seems your profile file got corrupted or doesn't have the correct encoding. Deleting it will solve the issue but the problem is that you will have to redo your settings.

    Debug monitor for stress test?

Open <main DayZ Steam folder>\Missions\dayzOffline.ChernarusPlus\init.c in Notepad or your favorite text editor. Add the following under the weather stuff but before the }-sign (very important): GetGame().SetDebugMonitorEnabled(1); So it should look like this: weather.SetWindFunctionParams(0.2, 1.0, 50); GetGame().SetDebugMonitorEnabled(1); } This will enable the debug monitor in the offline stress test mode. Edit: the first line is by the way the last line of the weather stuff which should already be present in the init.c file. The } is also already present. If you can't get it to work, let me know. In that case I'll share my file since it's exactly the same as the original.

    How to get 0.63

Not quite, there is always the offline mode. There is not much to do and your progress doesn't get saved but you can definitely check out the new features and changes.

Just checked it out, if I'm correct it should be between Dubrovka and Krasnotav. There is this house west of the gas station in the middle of an open field in the woods. http://dayztv.com/map/#6.103.043

    Status Report - April 25 2018

Good to hear that the results of the stress test were looking positive. I really can't wait to get my hands on the next stress test. :) I'm also glad that people received DayZ 2.0 so well and hope that they can see that patience does reward those who wait. DayZ is dead, development is taking too long, <insert other game> is better than DayZ, yada yada yada. 4.2k people for a stress test, that's quite impressive. I wonder how big this number will be at both the Experimental and Stable launch. What are the requirements or what does make you a content creator? I do have a YouTube channel and DayZ content on there but I haven't uploaded in a while. If I qualify as a CC, I will of course upload footage of it. :)

    Just checking in..

Gahhh... the "I know it all" argument, but you're wrong, dead wrong. They decided to go with a new engine because the Arma 2 engine (Real Virtuality 3) wasn't able to achieve what they wanted to achieve. Even going with the engine of Arma 3 (Real Virtuality 4), they wouldn't be able to achieve it. Most things in the mod were done by scripting and for the Standalone with scripting and changing the engine. Scripting is high level which means that performance will be bad compared to low level. And changing the engine constantly was also not pratical since it takes time and will probably affect performance as well. Also, when changing something in the engine they have to change a lot of other parts to make the new change work. That's why they decided to go with a new engine because the RV engine was just not able to achieve what they want to achieve. The engine wasn't build for an apocalypse survival simulator but rather for a military simulator. A great example why the new engine is working is the renderer. Everyone had bad performance until the new renderer came along. The new renderer and even the whole engine is built to create a game with a setting like DayZ. Were they better off going for a new engine from the get-go? Definitely. But were they better off staying with the old engine or using the Arma 3 engine? Hell no! In the end, it would probably take as long as it took to build the new engine and we would end up with shitty performance and a game which is glued together. Now we're going to get a brand new game, the only resemblance is the setting and the idea behind the game. I'm seriously sick of people who mouth off, thinking they know everything but in reality know nothing about what they're talking about.
  23. Well, I was rather talking about his latest Arma 3 video's. He doesn't record on public servers anymore because it ruins good clips, etc. He explains and shows it all in this video: I don't think his DayZ (Standalone) video's are staged though. His recent video's are also not entirely staged but they're most certainly not random encouters anymore. That does not mean that his video's aren't entertaining anymore because they still are. Not only that, a lot of work goes into those video's, which I do appreciate.
  24. Yep, hope he's back soon but also starts uploading DayZ. Even though his video's are staged nowadays, they still provide a lot of entertainment! To be honest, I started watching his DayZ Standalone series a few days before this survey, so it's funny he's mentioned in the survey. It also reminds me immediately how much DayZ has progressed over time, despite people saying otherwise. :)
  25. Well that was an easy one, FRANKIEonPC on all of them.
