  1. I'm sorry sir, but I believe you are in the wrong section. I think the Escape From Tarkov forum is the thing you're looking for. I'm not going to explain the genre and concept of the game yet again to you. I have done so countless times in the past, I have tried to explain what DayZ is going to be like in the future but you just don't listen. Yes, the game is heavily influenced by player interaction but there are differences in player interaction. The absence of loot, weapons and what not enhance these interaction. Even not having interactions every 2 seconds will enhance them as well and I will explain why in a manner that even you can understand it. Think about special meals like a Thanksgiving dinner. It is special, but why is it special? Because it only happens once a year, this makes it unique and special. If it would be every day or week then it isn't special and unique anymore. The same thing ties to interaction within DayZ. If you have an interaction every now and then, it stays special and unique. If you have one every 2 seconds, the game is less influenced by these interactions because they're suddenly not unique and special anymore. Do you get it now? Also, I like how you think that new players or players coming back might find the game good, should 1.0 release in the mentioned state. Yes there might be an handful who like it but if 99 % of the remaining community is pissed including streamers and hardcore fans, I highly doubt that returning players are going to say "wow, this is amazing". Those players left for a reason you know and if they come back to a game which has less in it when they last played the game, I can't imagine they're going to be positive.

    DayZ and its future

I'm concerned for both, to be honest. Everyone mentioned and agreed that 1.0 is going to be an important milestone, it is the milestone where a lot of potential players might come back to play the game and even new players. Especially after the positive reactions after 0.63 hit Stress Test first, a lot of people who don't play DayZ anymore said that they would return if the game gets more complete, in other words 1.0. For myself, 0.62 including base building, vehicles, some balancing and tweaks would be 1.0 for me. The current state of the game isn't 1.0 for me, to be honest. Yes, the new character controller, optimization, improved graphics and map, base building, etc. is great and awesome. But the game lacks a lot of features right now which 0.62 had which actually kept me playing. Right now there is no incentive to play the game over a long period of time, simply because it's stale, unbalanced, lacks content and gets boring very fast. In 0.62 I could play DayZ everyday for multiple hours for a long period of time and not get bored. Now after even a few days to a week playing the current build, I'm already bored and done because there is literally nothing to do. But the cutting of features initially didn't matter for me because for me it was about 1.0. It would be the game completed with most of the promised features, but most importantly parity with 0.62 but on the new tech. Time wasn't an issue for me nor was it for a lot of people, the end result (1.0) was the most important thing. So to me, a long time supporter it matters a lot. 1.0 is the version of DayZ where I'm going to evaluate whether the game is a success or not, at least based on the things promised. As BioHaze always says, 1.0 might not be something I like but modding will fix that. It is the exact same for me but in order to see if 1.0 is the game I wanted, we need to have all the features promised (with some exceptions like companions, etc.). I was ok with some features getting postponed after 1.0, but not this, not the long list of items and features which are going to be missing right now. And there will be great mods for that, like epoch was there for the mod. But oh yes, I can see the interactions in front of me right now, trading with people with the unimaginable amount of items we have right now, fishing with someone together, hunting with someone to get some leather for leather clothes, trading the shit ton amount of weapons in the game, placing a trap, shooting someone or something with my bow. Oh yes, it will be glorious! Oh wait... Nevermind... I think I can clearly see how the interactions are going to be, just how they have been all this time in 0.63. "I got my M4A1 fully decked out, I got 500 rounds of ammo, a shit ton of food and water, nothing to worry about... fuck it, I'll kill him. Nothing else to do anyway".

    Status Report - 23 October 2018

But the thing is, they promised parity to 0.62 for 1.0, that's the whole deal here. That they weren't going to make it, I can understand that. That they were going to postpone some features mentioned last November, I can understand that as well. But were not even close to parity with 0.62 and that is the whole problem. Combine that with the "2018 is going to be the year of DayZ", "beta will come in 2018", etc. while they already had problems with deadlines in the past. Eventually, you end up in the situation we find ourselves in right now. So they should delay that "2018 is going to be the year of DayZ" and "DayZ is going to beta and release before the end of the year" to next year or maybe the year after that. When they stated that deadline of 2018, they started playing Russian roulette (another feature which we won't see back in the initial 1.0, by the way). But now, instead of playing it with 1 bullet, they just put in 3 more bullets in the chamber.

Obviously, you don't get it. When did you start playing DayZ? Have you even ever played 0.62? There is only a fraction of features and items in the game right now. We are all waiting for DayZ 1.0, that is when the game releases and that is when the game goes out of Early Access. It is the version of the game on which we are going to judge the game. If it is not up to par with the promised features and things, it failed. It always has been about 1.0. I never bitched about development speed, process or what ever because Early Access. As soon as the game releases, I have a legitimate reason to do so since the game is released. And yes, 1.0 is a great tool to get more players or to lose it. The backlash is speaking for itself here, no one except for maybe 10 people are happy with this.

    Status Report - 23 October 2018

If they are ready, why do we need to put them manually in? Why is there so much content kept from us while it's actually ready? It doesn't make any sense, are they trying to get us to have "oh my god, I didn't expect this" reaction when they release? If so, they are making themselves look bad right now for that reason because based on the Status Report, everything which is in the game right now is it for us and it's not much. They're going to have 2 months to get everything in, to fix bugs and polish because they want to release DayZ no matter what in 2018. That's not much time, specially to fix bugs and polish the game. As I said before, we need some clarification, perhaps a separate post from the team to clarify a lot of shit up and get a lot of questions answered. A great thing which would help is a list of all the items and features which are going to be in 1.0 and a list of what was in 0.62 but isn't going to be in 1.0. Also a list of what isn't in 0.62 and is (not) going be in 1.0. And I'm talking about the full thing, I know that is a lot and a lot to ask for but right now, it's unclear what we're getting.

    DayZ and its future

Ghehe, you caught me it was the wire trap, if they were in, you wouldn't hear a beat out of me. On a serious note though, I understand why they pulled out a lot of items. They needed to be compatible with the engine. But I'm sure I'm not the only one on this but I'm actually here waiting for 1.0. I'm not going to bitch and moan or leave a bad review on Steam before the game hits 1.0. It's all about that 1.0, that's when the game releases and I'm going to judge the game on that. And it seems that 1.0 isn't going to be what they said it would be, so yes, I'm starting to out my frustration about that. Most of us here don't care if it is going to take another year or maybe even 2 years to get the game how they sold it to us. All we want is a good end product (1.0) with everything they promised, no matter how long it takes. And now it seems we're not getting that and I'm and the rest of the community are trying to change their mind. It's however completely up to them if they are going to listen or not. But everyone in the community agrees that it's in their best interest to listen. No matter what the reason is of the release of this partial 1.0, it's going to backfire anyway. I'd rather see them man up, take the damage with dignity and move forward instead of pressing the matter and pissing literally everyone off. So there is no "well everything is eventually going to be in the game", it is all about the 1.0. If 1.0 is bad, the people who left the game and are waiting for 1.0 and the people who are still here waiting for 1.0 are going to be pissed off and rightfully so. It will be damage which can not be undone and they're not going to get another chance after that. It's up to them if they mess up the release but it will have consequences, that I do know.

    Debug Monitor

In the serverDZ.cfg file you can add a line with "enableDebugMonitor = 1;", this will enable the debug monitor. Unfortunately you would need to mod things like infected killed, players killed, etc. in yourself.

    Where to Mod Starting Health?

Are we talking about the actual decrease or the icon itself? static const float METABOLIC_SPEED_WATER_BASAL = 0.070; //water loss per second while idle static const float METABOLIC_SPEED_WATER_WALK = 0.22; //water loss per second static const float METABOLIC_SPEED_WATER_JOG = 0.66; //water loss per second static const float METABOLIC_SPEED_WATER_SPRINT = 1.10; //water loss per second These are the ones which affect the decrease of water. static const float THRESHOLD_WATER_WARNING = 500; //yellow tendency icon static const float THRESHOLD_WATER_CRITICAL = 250; //red tendency icon static const float THRESHOLD_WATER_EMPTY = 0; //red blinking tendency icon These define the icon itself. You will find these in the file you mentioned and it's at the top of the file. Edit: My apologies, I read the topic wrong. You need to be in scripts.pbo>4_World>Classes>PlayerStats>PlayerStats.c In there you have the following line: RegisterStat(EPlayerStats.WATER, new PlayerStat<float> (0, 5000, 500, "Water", EPSstatsFlags.EMPTY) ); The 500 is the initial water you start with, that's the one you need to change.

That wouldn't be a bad idea. Beta and 1.0 was the thing which might potentionally bring back a lot of people to DayZ. But as it currently stands, that is not going to happen, you might even lose more people over this. Definitely consider post-poning beta and 1.0 instead of crucial features.

    Status Report - 23 October 2018

Oh boy, where to start on this one? I think all the reactions in this topic sum it up in a nutshell, DayZ beta and 1.0 isn't something to be happy about, to say the least. I still had faith in the game, I still stayed around, I supported the developers and protected them against all the negative criticism. To be honest, I am not happy with this SR, not happy at all. I stayed around and supported the game because I wanted the hard and gritty survival game and the promise that you guys wouldn't move from that concept. So what do we get with the release version? A game with barely any survival elements in it, unless I'm overseeing things, but that's what I make up out of the SR. As Emuthreat already mentioned, some things what you guys call "flavor features", we see as the core elements for DayZ. Things like fishing, coloring items, hunting with bows, etc. Those things define DayZ for us, you know, the survival elements in a survival game. So many questions left unanswered, I highly advice you to make a follow up post to explain a lot of shit because, oh boy, you guys messed up. We're talking about: - Hunting: fishing, bows, traps - Crafting: leather clothes, dying, bows, traps, spears, fishing rod, netting - Survival elements: sickness (cholera, food poisoning, kuru, etc.), cooking (fireplaces don't work at the moment) - Weapons: SKS, FAL, you name it, there are so few of them, same thing goes for melee weapons - Clothing: were is all the clothing which used to be in the game? A lot of is it is still missing... - Binoculars, rangefinder, ghillie suit, throwing, there is so much more to be summed up but I guess you guys get the point. A lot of these things have been touched in the SR, but so much hasn't. We got a content patch recently and a lot of stuff didn't even work properly yet or was a WIP. DayZ is going to beta and 1.0 in 2018, there is about 2 months left in 2018, are those things going to be ready before that? And even then, you guys want the core to be about the longetivity of the game. Currently, one is done very fast, so let's hope that base building fills in that gap, at least a bit. A lot of the so called "flavor features" were the features which made us pass time in DayZ. For me DayZ 1.0 ideally would be parity with the old game and some nifty extra's like base building, etc. And with parity I mean every weapon, feature, etc., not some cut down version. I only talked about the features which are (not) going to be in beta and 1.0 but there is so much more to it. What about the roadmap? How long do we need to wait for our "flavor features" which actually define DayZ for us. The survival elements and features which made the game an actual survival game. Are we talking about weeks, months or years? You guys are moving into beta to start to polish and bugfix the game for 1.0 with the current features. So that will take time, my question is, how much time? And what about after that? You have polished the game and fixed the bugs but as a software engineer, we both know that new features cause new bugs. So you guys need to start over again and reiterate this process again and again... I've expressed my concerns and anger with the "DayZ will go to beta and 1.0 in 2018" already before. Throwing dates, it has been a thorn in your sides, Eugene even gave a presentation about the dangers with EA. Yet, you did it again and couldn't come through after all. Now you're receiving yet another backlash from the community. But this time it isn't from some salty trolls but from your actual hardcore fanbase, who actually love the game and are in it for the long run. As I mentioned before, I don't mind the waiting and love to work together with you guys to get the game we all want. But I don't like the current sideroad you guys took. Honestly, it hurts for me to make this or such a post. I wish I didn't have to make this post at all but unfortunately it came to it. It doesn't mean I'm going to start to shit on the game or what ever. I still love DayZ, but unfortunately not the 1.0 DayZ. You guys did hurt your credibility for me though. I'm sure that I will try upcoming content patches but I'm afraid that I will be done with them rather quickly because a lot of pieces of the puzzles are going to be missing. To be honest, I still hope you guys can pleasantly surprise me at 1.0. I'm hoping that I'm going to say "oh, this is not so bad after all", time will tell. I do hope you guys learn from this bump and take this feedback to heart.

    East Side need more military

No, there is enough military spawns around there. Kamensk is about 6.8 km from Khelm. From Elektro to Staroye is about 4.1 km but compared to Kamensk, the one at Staroye is puny. From Staroye to Stary Sobor is about 4.4 km. Even Staroye and Stary Sobor combined doesn't get you as much military loot as Kamensk. You traveled about 6.8 km from Khelm and from Elektro you traveled about 8.5 km to get even less gear. Not to mention that from Kamensk, Tisy is very close and after Tisy, I'm usually decked out to the teeth and found enough shit to start World War 3. Edit: oh and forgot, NWAF is also close to Kamensk. For me spawning in the east is way better than at the southern coast.

    It's Been 6 Years

I fully agree with this. It even shows with those "oldschool know-it-all players" like Private Evans. Let me quote his post: 0.63 is: - boring; I'll give you that, not all the features of 0.62 are in the game currently but they are working on it and most of it should be ready before 2019. It's a statement they made and would be a death sentence if they didn't deliver. - unpolished; have you actually played 0.63? Compared to DayZ 0.59, the game runs so much better. The game has improved in FPS and not only that, the game even looks better while still having more FPS than before. This argument is total bullshit and anyone who has played 0.63 knows that. - unbalanced; unbalanced how? There are so many things which can make/makes a game balanced or unbalanced, be more specific. - buggy as hell; does it have bugs? Yes. Is it buggy as hell? Most certainly not. Plus, a game in development has bugs, it's not perfect. Hell, even fully released games still have bugs. What is the conclusion of this? You're just spewing bullshit. If you had any valid an good arguments, I would agree with you. But you're just using the same old arguments which we've seen come by a million times by now and some which are even not relevant anymore. People nowadays feel so entitled. You see it with every game. People even feel the need to shit on the developers when they haven't even received money from customers and delay something, like the case with Ready Or Not. People need to get off their high horse and stop spewing bullshit, negativity, etc. If you don't like the state of the game, go play something else and wait, come back when the game is fully released. If by then the game isn't what it's supposed to be, you have a right to shit on the developers and the game.

    Status Report - 25 September 2018

It wasn't really a misunderstanding, to be honest. They were talking about postponing vehicles and tents for after 1.0 to not hold the beta back, that was a big no-no for me. They stated this in the SR of 28th of november "During the time between the release of 0.63 Experimental to the release of 0.63 Stable (PC BETA), we will add a couple more features that are missing from the list above. Namely vehicles, helicopters and base-building. We'll also keep adding weapons to get to our 0.62 standards". I have ranted a few times to the guys about the fact that they threw out a date again (Beta before the end of 2018), combined with the fact that they might postpone vehicles and tents until after beta was what caused it. I don't mind that things take a while, I'm prepared to wait for it and I'm in it for the long run. But the date, it was the date, something they already had problems with in the past. But all this is doesn't matter anymore anyway since it seems we're getting vehicles and tents rather sooner than later, which is of course great news. I don't mind if the forum is active, I would even support it. The problem is that they make for every little thing a new topic. Normally for the PC build we always keep it to the Stable/Experimental/Stress test topic instead of making a new topic. The forum would have half a million topics if we would make a new topic on everything. I'm sure that a lot of topics are even duplicates of things which have been posted in the same week. Here in The Netherlands we have a saying which would translate roughly to "Not being able to see the forest because of the trees" which means that you lose the overview because of all the details. I hope you guys can do something about this because I don't even know anymore if there is a new build or not because they get burried within a few hours because of all the new topics.

    Status Report - 25 September 2018

Very good SR and very good news! I'm going to be honest, this SR is a big relief for me. I was a bit done with DayZ and there were multiple reasons for that. The thing which hit the nail in the coffin was when I heard that vehicles and tents, etc. would come after 1.0. I was also mad because the Xbox version had things which the PC version didn't have (heli crashes). Combine that with the fact that I find it hard to keep up with the forum and don't even have the motivation for it because of this. Reason being is the fact that the forum is constantly bombarded by new threads by the Xbox version players. Honestly, it still makes me mad, even this topic is burried away already and this one is posted 5 hours ago. Is there a way that I can exclude all the Xbox topics in the Xbox forum? I was quite bummed out that I was done with DayZ, but after BioHaze mentioned this SR and the good content, I immediately felt better. All is good now and I can't wait for the next big Experimental beta patch and beta itself. :) Keep up the good work! By the way, I think the images aren't working because I believe data.bistudio.com is down.

What the... How the... Wait... WHAT!? How did you do that? I swear, bugs like these are the best. Already lost the challenge at the Eugene part. But really, how!?
  22. I can give you a good answer to that. We can't stress test for performance issues if the game or server crashes every minute or what ever makes the game unplayable. It's not only to provide us a somewhat stable experience but also to be able to collect as much as valueble and consistent data as possible. Don't get me wrong, I'm also patiently waiting for the content patch to drop but until that time I will keep myself busy with other games and other things.

"You Are Killing A Fresh Spawn!"

It could be people find out by accident. I stopped using it at the point where I was taking on 6 infected at one time with melee. I never used it on players though but it would suck if you encounter someone who does. Glad they're going to fix this one, hopefully with the next content patch. It's best not to use these bugs/exploits because you will get used to it and when it gets fixed, you will suddenly get a backlash because you adjusted your playstyle to it.
  24. IMT

"You Are Killing A Fresh Spawn!"

There is an exploit with the combat mechanics. That's all I'm going to tell because I don't want more people to abuse it. I think the person being killed in the video is referring to this exploit. I made a ticket about it a while ago and they acknowledged the exploit and scheduled it for a fix. Until then, it is best that the majority doesn't know about it.
