BUG SERVER FILES V1.0.149974 --> GAME V1.0.150000
IMT replied to Labs Acme's topic in Troubleshooting
Right mouse on DayZ -> Properties -> Beta's -> Select none -
Alright thanks, I'll test it soon.

How did you pour the water in the barrel? It doesn't give me an option.
-
Wait how do you make the leather? We've tried it earlier on PC but couldn't figure it out.

I mean, we all warned them about this. This is nothing new and also not surprising. I was talking to Art and Fing earlier today and told them, I'm sure that if they waited with the 1.0 release until all features were in and major bugs were out, there would probably be more people playing right now. Not only that, I'm certain that those players or the majority of those players would play the game longer. Just with every big patch, you're going to see an influx of players but that always dies down rather fast. If 1.0 was released fully complete, I'm sure it would die down much slower. Plus, the reviews would've been much better. All this was the reason why I wanted them to wait with 1.0, it was this. After all the shit they have been through and had to take, I think they would've deserved some positivity with 1.0 but releasing it early will only do the opposite. It's a shame but the damage is already done.

Alright, thank you, it's really appreciated.

More Dutch servers on PC? Sweet! @ImpulZ is there also a possibility to get some more official first person servers on the Stable branch? There are currently very few of them (I believe 4 or 5). A lot of people play on the Experimental first person servers as well but I'm afraid when there is a version difference, the Stable first person servers are going to be mostly full.

Trust me, it's in the official game files. My character on Experimental has one on it's AKM. The item type is called "KazuarOptic".

BI Staff, what software development model are you using for DayZ?
IMT replied to robbyj's topic in General Discussion
You said biggest, not largest. Also, it is owned by Microsoft indeed but it is still developed by Mojang. And with the 300 employees at BI, does that include all subsidiary companies? -

Dead wrong, that would be Mojang. Minecraft has sold about 10 times more copies than all BI games combined. -
Persistence crashes are linked to player vicinity - Devs please read.
IMT replied to robotstar's topic in Troubleshooting
Mods doesn't have anything to do with this. This weekend an official Experimental server crashed and we lost the stuff on the ground around us. So we were in the vicinity and there were no mods whatsoever. -
A lot of RP servers have their own lore. Most servers also require you to read and know the lore and play accordingly to that lore.
-
A bit more information would be helpful. What kind of ban? Was it on a server, if so, which one? Did you break any server rules? So many things you left out, so there is little which people can do to help you.
-
Damn it, I was very curious about this big security problem but it seems to be only a server crash. To be honest, they have always been there. But you're right, make a private feedback tracker post with reproduction steps (even better with video proof) and it will be patched with the next patch or the patch after that. People always find them and use them to abuse stuff. Previously it was used to duplicate items, now it probably gets used to make the server daylight.

That's what I mean. They did one round of focused feedback, in my opinion they should've done these things more often and earlier in the development as well. But the weird thing is, after they did the focused feedback, they came with some new HUD icons while everyone generally understood what the icons meant. So for some reason they went with entire new icons and according to them that was the result of the focused feedback but the topic itself clearly shows a different result. Sure some things were unclear but that doesn't mean that you need to scratch the icons and make entirely new ones. As you said, instead of redoing stuff, they can focus their energy on different things. -

What bothers me the most is that it looks like they keep reimplementing features if something is not up to par. During the development we've had countless features and content rewritten or redone over and over again. For example the recent server browser and status icons. And there are more things, we've had multiple inventory systems, sounds for weapons have been done over and over again, sounds for infected, vehicles have been rewritten and redone a lot of time. It feels like they just Ctrl+A + Delete or Ctrl+Shift+Delete on a file and say we'll start over again. In some cases, that's a good strategy but if you do that with everything, you get what we have been seeing all this time and that is: one step forward, two steps back. -
I know they're in the files but wish they were ready for 1.0. They have a NV scope so I'm guessing it wouldn't be that much work to translate the night vision of the scope to the screen itself.

I'm guessing they're using which most companies use these days and that is one of the Agile methods, most likely Scrum. -
It has NOT to do with modded servers, also not with people forcing a server restart. It happens when the DayZ server has ungracefully closed. If at that moment the server is writing to the persistence file, it gets corrupted. This can happen on every server, even the official ones. Unless the server crash is directly tied to a badly written mod, modding isn't directly the cause of this. Neither is a server restart because servers restart all the time. There shouldn't be a difference between restarting the server manual or a planned restart.

Wish they added NVG in as well. Dumb thing is, they never mentioned this scope in the changelog. And about the rarity, it doesn't seem to be that rare. I hope when NVG are in, they are going to be rare. Something along the lines of they should (re)spawn once every 24 hours and there should only be 1 to 3 of them. It should be very rare to find things like this because they are so valuable, specially NVG.

1.0 ? Dont expect anything until coders say so...
IMT replied to marcheur's topic in New Player Discussion
Great comparison there, comparing (human) nature with a bug in a game, real smooth man. The solution is easy and that was to postpone 1.0 until it's fixed. I have the right to complain or criticise their decisions, since, you know, I'm a customer who payed for a product. You should try it sometime, it gives you more control over your life rather than to swallow everything which comes in your way. -

IMT replied to marcheur's topic in New Player Discussion
They're definitely not the same thing because the CLE manages everything. From items which should persist 45 days to items which should persist 30 minutes. It's the CLE which manages it and makes it happen. Every item in the game is handled by the CLE, wheter it's spawned or crafted. Since persistence isn't working correctly, this doesn't only mean that your camp or base will be gone because of a crash but every item in the world. You might be switching your backpack and stuff, server crashes, your stuff is gone. This happened friday to us when we were cooking some meat. My cooking pot, along with the fire and the meat on the ground all was gone when the server crashed. And mind you, we're talking about an official Experimental server, not a community server. For 1.0, shit like this should not happen! Now it was a cooking pot but it might as well be half my stuff. -
GSP stands for Game Server Provider.

Perhaps you were on the Experimental hive and joined the Stable hive when you came back later or vice versa. They run on a seperate hive so they have seperate characters. Honestly, I think they should just remove the Experimental servers from the Stable version and the Stable servers from the Experimental version. Or perhaps add it with the proper version match filter option, which I don't think is currently working anyway.

Don't worry, it isn't because it's a game preview, DayZ 1.0 on the PC has this issue as well.
