Give Current Dayz Players Free Game Keys On Release
dallas replied to Mikeloeven (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Since this seems to be the place to ask to get shit for free, I just want to say, I don't really like the place I live at too much, so if anyone of you can aford the $15 to buy the standalone, being rich and all, maybe you could all chip in and pay my rent too. If everyone in this thread send me $5-10 monthly, I'll defenently buy the standalone and I really want the standalone, because if the rumours are true, people who bought ArmA2 to play DayZ will get a free car, when they buy the standalone. You know a real car, like a real Oprah car! Also WarZ is shit. -

Hero achieved, wearing ghillie suit
dallas replied to Anarchyihdi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you don't kill or damage other players, you humanity will regenerate very slowly, it will only continue to regenerate untill you reach +2500. However when your debug monitor shows 0, it will allow you to generate new 2500 humanity. -
Hero achieved, wearing ghillie suit
dallas replied to Anarchyihdi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Changing skins messes up the debug monitor, there's a difference between what your debug monitor shows and your actual character's humanity is. If you change to civilian, you'll get your hero skin, but your debug monitor might show your humanity as 0 and kills/murders as 0 too. Also if you log in as a hero, your debug monitor will probably show you as 0, but if you change to ghillie, you'll see your real humanity. -
There's usually 3-4 loot piles spread around the crashsite, never further out than you can imagine the rotortips. Sometimes the loot piles spawn beneth the chopper, sometimes they even spawn on top of eachother. When you spot the site from a distance, take a moment you to watch it through your binoculars. Grass isn't rendered from beyond 100-150 meters, so that'll give you an idea if there's any loot piles left around the chopper. However when you get closer and the grass is rendered, I always have a hard time finding the piles again. If you play on the same server regularily, start noticing server restart times. If the crash site is spawned in an obvious location, knowing if the server restarted 30minutes ago or 5 hours ago might be valuable information.

Humanity will regenerate as long as you're playing actively without doing damage to others, you should continue to regenerate untill 2500 humanity.

Maybe the highly loved collision model saved you and crushed the other guy. -
If you feel up for a challenge, try to play without gamma/brightness exploits. Map and compas are great for navigation at night, however it's hard to rely on landmarks, sometime you only have the surface sound as a reference. Look at your map find the next waypoint, usually crossing a road, travel in that direction, untill you hear your feet on asphalt. Chemlights are great for ambient light and easy to miss for any bandits in the area. At 30-40 meters they are highly visible, beyond that they are only a small blinking dot. I avoid using red chemlights, they are next to useless. Green chemlights are brightest and cast the most ambient light. Blue ones are less bright and harder to detect. I prefere green, most prefere blue. You use them by pressing F, changing weapon more to chemlights, press/hold fire to throw and then use the mouse menu to pick it up. If you suspect bandits are nearby, use mouse menu to either drop/extinguish the chemlight. If someone shoots at you(and misses) just run as fast as you can, while you run, select drop chemlight and leave it behind. Continue to run untill you're either shot dead or you reach the woods, then run some more(5min). :) Road flares are much brighter and is alot easier to notice for strangers, they brun with a bright light and cast red light on the surroundings, it's glare can be seen up to 500-800 meters. I never pick up lit flares, I only throw them in villages or near deer stands. Throwing a flare serves two purposes, you light up the area you want to search and you can distract zombies with them. Any zombie seeing the light from the flare, will slowly walk towards it, investigate it for a moment and then move on. So if you need to search a house, don't throw the flare too close at the house. I also use flares in Cherno and Elektro, however you have to be aware that it's defenently going to attact negative attention. I'll usually throw three or four flares in different directions and then stay outside the ambient light. I only use the light to see the contrast of the buildings, because I know both bandits and zombies will be drawn to the light. I'll also make sure I only stop in shadows or loot every quickly and be ready to run at the first sign of trouble.

Since the mod will be opened up further to the community, allowing us to mod and customize it, it's in pretty good hands.

Because it's a mod for ArmA2, it can't make changes to the engine, because those changes would affect all other "non-DayZ" ArmA2 servers. The standalone game can make all the changes to the engine, because it doesn't share the engine with regular ArmA2 missions. Not sure which part of it made you go huh? The word from Rocket is, when the standalone is released, alot of the restrictions will be lifted from the mod. It will be easier to password private servers and "mod" the mod. Personally I'm hoping someone will release a DayZ Insurgency mod.

^^Could we please keep the retarded warZ speculations to a minimum, it's pretty hard to say anything intelligently about WarZ, since it only consists of 15 ugly screenshots and 10 imaginary bulletpoints. DayZ the mod and the game will run on two different engines. DayZ the mod, is a mod for ArmA2 and thus shares the engine with all other ArmA2 mods and servers. ArmA2 is a infantery simulator and the AI is coded to act like soldiers, to engage enemies from a distance with rifles, to flank and to avoid running in straight line, so they aren't easy targets. This means DayZ mod zombies are really soldiers, scripted to act like zombies, which makes them more weird and aren't really coded to do what zombies does best, close range melee attacks. DayZ the game is a standalone, which means it can make changes to the engine, so zombie are no longer soldiers, but zombies coded as zombies. It's unclear which version of the Real Virtuality engine the game will run on, but the official word atm is ArmA2½, not ArmA2, not ArmA3. According to WarZ's developers, they've been developing a zombie game for PS3, but after they witnessed DayZ humongous succes, they decided to change it into a mmo/zombie/survival whatever. According to them, they've been in development for years and are absolutely not copying DayZ. But so far the only thing they have to show is 15-20 ugly ass screenshots, no ingame footage and a wishlist that promises a game that contains everything DayZ has, everything WoW has, only completely without any bugs and a magic netcode.

If you play without killing someone in "selfdefense" for and hour or two, you should get back to positive humanity, I think you'll lose the bandit head at +2000.
