I'm pretty sure there's a rule somewhere on the internet that prohibits ending your sentences with LOL.

I think it's ethically questionable to implement smoking in a video game, plus it takes away development time from more important feature such as: Vehicles, underground bases, path finding, cannibalism and necrophilia.

No, The military grade simulation VBS is derived from the recreational entertainment game OFP. 3rd person view wasn't implemented to command AI units, tactical view was. OFP, Armed Assault, ArmA 2, ArmA 3 all offered first person view, third person view and tactical view. DayZ mod and DayZ Standalone only offered first and third person perspective. And because of BI's approach to the all encompassing camera design and animations, first person view was never a smooth experience and for some it was even an unenjoyable experience. However third person view came with certain tactical disadvantages, which is why BI allowed individual server admins the ability to enforce, whatever difficulty settings, they preferred. Me, I don't like crosshairs, but third person. Shacktac dislike third person, but like crosshairs and teamsized radars and ArmA and DayZ allows all of us to enjoy our differences.

Still not an exploit.

If 1PP was so good, we wouldn't be having this discussion again and again. There's no "obvious exploit." You're simply failing to acknowledge a very popular feature of ArmA/DayZ. This game has simply not been designed as a first person experience, it can be played in 1PP, but the experience isn't very smooth, because the game was designed to embrace several view point perspectives. While you're attempting to mislabel a legit feature as an exploit or shame us into submission by calling it a crutch, easy mode, ex-ray, periscope, mirror on a stick view, it simply doesn't change the fact that this feature is very legit and very popular and if you're such a total hardcore badass, it's up to you, yourself, to fill up your hardcore servers, which shouldn't be very hard, seeing the activity of these "3PP is bad mkay" threads and all your "1PP > 3PP" poles.

Since you already play on hardcore servers and have embraced the perfect solution, then there's no need for a near-prefect solution.
-
People playing on regular servers accepts the greater field of view and know it can work both for and against them. However having zombies and players pop in and out of existence from out of the blue air is going to be a major annoyance. I personally think it looks stupid in the mod video and I'll rather accept being spotted by a dumbass hiding on a roof, than having zombies disappear in the thin air, whenever I run past a tree, sign or picket fence.
-
The player base will always be fragmented, since currently servers only holds 40 people of the player base. There's no problems with running two hives and there's certainly no reason to ruin 3PP, just to please players, who have no intentions of playing on 3PP servers anyways.
-
I've got no problem with adding the 4th wall mod to hardcore servers, because I don't play on hardcore servers, just as long as you keep that "stuff" away from regular servers. Maybe a few extra 3PP players will join the hardcore servers for a poor 3PP experience, where players and zombies pop in and out of existence like USS Enterprise away teams and completely destroy the immersion.

I don't really care, as it's not going to affect the development of the standalone and it's not going to happen for a foreseeable future.
-
Just don't see it happening, why over complicate it, when the simplest solution has always existed?
-
They've already tested and dismissed this idea, I believe Rocket called the potential use for abuse "Ghost Combat-logging." I think it's better to twerk and get the zombie spawns, to begin adjusting combat-timers, because zombie spawns is a little buggy atm.

Was positively surprised by the Standalone, but... Personally I'm looking forward to an entirely new map and I'm secretly hoping, they've already begun to lay the foundation for it. With a year and a half or a little more for completion, they could potentially have enough time and by then Chernarus will be six years old. Also since we're playing the game through out the development, by the official launch we've pretty much exhausted the content already. A change of scenery at this point, would reinvigorate the player base.

Only server hopping for loot? Isn't that the definition of server hopping?
-
Nope, but having played the game and mod, followed the development and been an active part of the community for months and years certainly help.

New Player - Infestation:Survivor Stories Vet
dallas replied to Jamesdeadaim's topic in New Player Discussion
DayZ is exactly like Infestation, except it's a survival game, where you can't pay to survive or respawn. -

Do you like PvP? Good news for you, PvP is a part of DayZ. Do you like 3PP? Good news for you, 3PP is a part of DayZ. Do you like tennis? Bad news for you, DayZ isn't that kind of game.

I don't really care, then again, I don't rush to every PvP hub, so respawning isn't something I plan to do five times a day.
