  1. I'm what Mark Zuckerberg calls a new school or 2.0 gamer and I firmly believe purchasing a game from my hardearned income, makes me entitled to a minimum 35% of a game developer's soul. Also we were promised a hat shop.
  2. Should I click that link or just pour battery acid into my pc?
  3. Or do as some servers, if it detects illegal weapons, all your gear is deleted. :)
  4. Reload buckshots and you're good to go. Use the red devil pellets to kill people dead.
  5. Red pellests all the way. I only replace double-barrled for m1014.

    Nice pyrotechnics, yo pimpin'
  7. ArmA was intented for adult or mature players, who could use the engine's openness to easily create user content. If they had known the game's player base would expand to include the feeble minded, who needed cheats to succeed in the game, they'd probably have made it harder to create and inject scripts. But hey! Who could have known a single beautiful mod like DayZ, would also appeal to people with dolphine IQs?

    Apology

All friendlies, all Chernarus heroes have done stuff they wish they could take back. If you weren't able to feel remorse and regret for killing another player, you're only option is to play DayZ as a bandit. Because you are able to allow yourself to feel these feelings, even though it's just a game, you've opened up a new element of the gameplay. You can either treat this as a pure game, where killing another doesn't have any actual consequences or you can use this unique oppotunity to experience the emotions that comes from having to make a moral choice. Remember noone survives DayZ with their humanity intact. Either you lose it completely or you struggle with it, everytime you meet a stranger. Stay safe, stay alive and stay humane ;)
  11. My primary advise to beginners is: Toggle crouch(X) as the first thing you do, then toggle walk(2xshift). On the right side of your screen the ear and eye icon indicates, how easy zombies detect you. the taller you walk, the faster you move, the easier it is for them to spot you. Walking on roads/streets makes more sound and you're easier to see. Stay off roads if you can. When you leave the beach, head for build up areas. Press shift to run, if you have to run very far, toggle running. The loot is always near open buildings and zombies are always near. So in order to get loot, you must always go towards where the zombies are. :) Loot: When I spawn, I have three choices: Axes from industrial areas. handguns/backpacks from civllian buildings or rifles from barnes, stables and military camps. As soon as you get close to buildings/zombies, switch to walking. Only run if you're sure no zombies are looking straight at you or if they spot you. If they chase you, stand up straight( c) and use regular standing running, sprinting(2xW) will only help you a short time and then it slows you down. Run away from buildings, so you alarm as few zombies as possible. When one zombie sees you, you have to run, which usually alarms other zombies. Keep running, through trees and bushes to make the zombe lose sight of you. While you run you can either freelook(alt or 2xalt) to look behind you or press numpad 1 or 3, to see if the zombie is still chasing you. Keep runnning through trees or up /down hills till the zombie gives up. As a new player the most important is to learn how move, to avoid being seen and if you get seen, how to lose any zombies chasing you. When you master this, going in to areas with zombies, where the loot is, becomes a little less scary. Shooting/aiming/using inventory is an advanced lesson better kept for another day. :)

    Your Final Words Before Death

I once got hit by a van, when I realized I was inside it's minimum breaking distance and it only just started breaking, the best I could come up with was mouthing: "Fuck... "
  13. They react really poorly, if you refuse to pick up the top tier weapons, they drop on the ground for you.

    I just met a hacker.

^^It's a little bad on full servers, there's usually someone hacking, killing people in peak hours. Atm, I mostly play on night servers, just to have a chance of survival. These hacker guys makes me sad. First they teleport you here and there, then they offer you imba weapons and when you refuse to take them, they just stand there like lonely fucked up penguins.

I'm using mnemonics instead, although I had to dump a few useless childhood memories to remember all my camp locations.

NEW DayZ SONG - 'Cauze I got High

I really like the akward rhythm of the aucustic guitar and song, really really like it. :beans:
  17. We defenently need to make account theft a little harder for the standalone. No matter how many people BattleEye bans doesn't matter, if a hacker has 100 stolen keys read for use.

    Post your humanity!

Which skin did you log in with camo clothing, ghillie suit or female skin?

    DayZ Standalone Images? (Fake)

Clearly fake, however DayZ standalone fakes clearly trump WarZ fakes. :)
  20. Have BIS reveived a ransom note yet, obviously both a being held hostage, in an absurd and vendictive abuse of power. Also /signed
  21. Yea you gotta risk your life for that last little humanity, but you also got to defend that nice weapon. Good luck :)
  22. Depending on whether you hear the sonic boom or not, the bullet travels at 7-800m/s, while the blast from the barrel only travels at 342m/s. It's a bit like counting after you see the flash of a lighting. If you can count to three, before you hear the sound of thunder, it means the lightning struck one kilometer away. ArmA's predecessor Operation Flashpoint said it best: "Once you see the flash, you're already dead."
  23. You probably should have stayed logged on a little further. The hero skin is bugged, when you earn it at 5000, the game switches your player model and for some reason, the debug monitor shows your kills, murders and humanity at reset to 0. It doesn't mean your actual humanity is 0, the debug monitor just shows it wrong. I don't know how quickly you logged off after receiving the hero skin, but maybe it didn't get to save the change. Next time you play, if you're still at 4950, bandage 3 players (60 humanity) or blood bag one(250) and then when you change skin keep playing for atleast 30 minutes. Any player below 2500 humanity, slowly regenerate humanity if actively playing, but humanity can't regenerate past 2500. However because the debug monitor is bugged, any hero will be able to generate additional 2500, because the debug monitor places us at 0 This means next time you play and you reach 5000, if you play for 60-90minutes without any murders, you'll generate extra 2500 in the debug monitor, which means your actual humanity will now be 7500. Next time you'll hit 10000. As soon as you become a hero, because of the bugged debug monitor, your humanity will increase 2500 per session.
  24. How about we change the default ArmA2 communication channels for the standalone. One of the major disadvantages with direct channel is, it's very dangerous to use in populated areas, even if you're talking to a friendly, anyone in a 200 meter diameter can hear you and come gunning for you and your new found best friend. Whisper channel: I'd like to suggest renaming one of the channels and change it's properties. We keep direct channel with it's current properties(100m voice and 40m text), but we change one of the remaining channels, rename it to Whisper channel and change the range, so you need to sit side by side, within 3-5 meters to read/hear the channel. To find other players, you have to enter populated areas, which means more chance of actually meeting someone and an equal risk of meeting bandits. This way when you're done yelling friendly, friendly, you can switch to whisper, to avoid drawing nearby bandits towards your peaceful conversation. When meeting strangers in DayZ, it usually takes a while to get the feel for the other player and if you're broadcasting your friendly intentions, for more than a short moment, your friendly conversations are often interrupted by sudden death. As a balance between good and evil, less friendly players can also go: "Pssst come over here in safe whisper distance" before they stick a Makarov into your ear and take your DMR from your cold, dead hands. Radios: I know Rocket has already talked about cell phones, but I was thinking more about radios. With radios you could offer both stationary CB radios and portable walkie talkies. CB radios might require, working and fueled generations to run, while walkie talkies, could utelize the same batteries used in laser designators. What I find appealing about radios is you can either head for a fixed known location, where you know for sure you can find and repair a radio, but that since these locations draw lone players looking for company, bandit snipers might stalk them for easy targets. Alternatively you can search high tier locations for more valuable portable radios, but aquiring them comes with an increased risk. Also if you're broadcasting from a stationary antenna, you never know, who's lisening to you, where they are, if they are friendly longing for another human voice or if they are trying to get you to reveal your location and are stalling you, while they are driving towards you in vehicles, armed with heavy weapons. With the walkie talie you're more mobile and less exposed, especially if we place CB radios on the top platform of radio towers. However if batteries are rare, you have to limit your usage and practise being short and consice in your transmissions. Maybe one battery has a couple of hours worth of life or they work like a weapon magazine, with 30-50 radio transmissions. When you select "turn on radio/walkietalkie" in your mouse menu, you get access to the radio channel and the radio start either consuming fuel for the generator or battery life. CB radios and walkie talkies could also allow more than one frequincy, if the engine allows it maybe five. At the moment ArmA provides six channels: Global, side, group, vehicle, command and direct. If three are reserved for whisper, direct and vehicle, maybe the last three could only be accessed with radios or if the engine allows it, add a few, so we have atleast five channels. What you think? tl/dr: I liek turtles.
