Somewhere around $15 for everyone. The ealier you buy it the cheaper will the full game will be. Rocket calls this standalone version the foundation build and it's going to be released as a work in progress. If you buy it in the early stages of development, you buy at at a "heavy discounted price". If you decide to wait a few months to see the development, the discount will get smaller. If you wait until it's completed, maybe it will cost you $30.

When is the standalone actually coming out?
dallas replied to xenomta's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think Rocket's last quote was "It has to be released before the end of the year." -
I always take the most covered route into a town, both to conceal myself from zombies, but also from players. It's worth the extra time to flank an village and select the safest entrance route into it, the same route will also provide cover, if you have to escape bandits.

Have you Mistook an Animal for a Zombie?

First time I heard a cow moo at me passing it in the dark, I pooped a little. -
Funny I thought it was pretty damn clever, quite advanced lyrics and the delivery just perfect.

The Symbiotic relationship between "Carebears" and "Bandits"
dallas replied to dekartz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ is a place where cooperative players and competitive players are forced together, that's why social interactions are so advanced or at least can be. As a friendly player you can't just assume anyone you come across will allow you to hug them or let you mind your own business picking flowers or whatever. Any decent gamer can break down gameplay mechanics rather quickly, so everything DayZ throws at you will become predictable over time. Player interactions will never be predictable and will keep coop-oriented players on their toes. This also applies to bandits, they can develop their own morals, whether they kill for loot, kill for sport or take even higher risks by trying to rob players at gunpoint or make elaborate schemes to build trust, only to back stab their naive new friend. DayZ is not just a shooter for bandits, they can use the player interactions to spring advanced traps and test the humanity to the bring of their treehugging, peaceloving counterparts. -

Will vehicles be more common in DayZ Standalone?
dallas replied to Manofootball_2's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the post editor has a tendency to activate the superscript button or something(This is superscript). The regular forum font is 14. :) -
I just figured they were all driving Lambos by now.

There's no shame in that, if DayZ isn't for you, then it isn't for you. I love ArmA and I love being a little bird pilot in Insurgency mod, making roof top insertions and put the bird down in narrow compounds, but I never bought Take on Helicopters, it just wasn't for me. As for DLC maps Rocket hasn't made a final statement on that subject and it's probably not on the top of his development list, the standalone is. But if you only got a weeks worth of enjoyment of the mod, maybe you should just withhold judgment until you see what the standalone has to offer. Unlike WarZ, you don't have to go buy it on blind faith.

I can't zoom out 3rd person and toggle it with my snipers?
dallas replied to hpmon's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
^^Yea it feels like a gameplay decision, I've only experienced this with sniper rifles. -
Rocket said it was a potential option for creating revenue if needed, however he also said, that might not work if they decided to accept usermade maps in the standalone. So right now there isn't no public decision about such DLC. Rocket has said further development is linked to the succes of the standalone, but I figure that the massive amount of sales from ArmA 2: OA are probably being used by BIS to pay Rocket's new project lead salary for a foreseeable future. The DayZ standalone probably has to have negative sales for BIS to lose money on it.

Here are the basics, but after a while you should consider reassigning some of your keys, all keys presses can be used: Single tap, double tap and hold.

Seems like you already know the most important.

The "If you can't have it, no one can" saying.

I think I speak for everyone, when I say: Okay? :) -
Where there's zombies, there's open buildings. Where there's open buildings, there's loot. Notice the ear/eye icons on the right side of the screen. Notice how your stance, running speed and ground surface affects your sound and visibility level. Also remember there's no i in zombie.

Ninja'd by smasht Basically DayZ foundation will be released sometime in December. Rocket has said DayZ foundation will be expanded upon and he estimates, if will receive upgrades and further development for a year. The quicker you buy it, the bigger discount you get. If you buy your game-key in December, it will cost you $15, if you rather wait for a later update, you'll have to pay a little more, if you wait for the final built, you'll have to pay $30. The earlier you buy, the more discount you get. The upgrades are free, but the updates increase the price for new buyers. Rocket has talked about maybe selling new maps as DLC to finance further development, but he also said allowing some usermade maps in the standalone, might conflict with that idea, so we don't have any ruling on whether any DLC will be released at some point. The earlier you buy the standalone, the cheaper it is.

Standalone - add "check magazine" action to realistically determine how much ammunition remains
dallas replied to pcjake's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The game already does tactical reloads, where you place your half used magazines in the back of your ammo pouches. -
BIS has an exelent reputation among it's own community. Arcade shooters can appear to be delivering a much smoother experience, but that's mostly to do with the narrative being placed solid on rails, rather than dropping players and AI down into a realtime open world. With BIS large open world and it's autonomous AI, there's bound to be some problems, but the aalternative is tunnel shooters or "cinematic experiences" only interrupted by quick-time events. But hey! each to his own.

I never combat log. I only disconnect if I encounter a hacker, if I spot zombies in the horizon, if it rains, if I think it will rain, if I'm hungry, if I'm bleeding, if I'm surprised by a lake, if I hear shots, if I hear an engine, if I shoot at someone and they shoot back, if I find a can of pasta instead of sardines, if I get scared or if I think I'll get scared anytime soon.
