I think his uban prone animations made it into ArmA 3, think he got hired by BI.

Rocket would have to stop all development and spend all this time defending himself on CNN.

So you've been Global Banned: An Informercial.

sticky material. -
Kind of already in the game, just not visibly, but you get an audio cue. Sprinting depletes your stamina fastest. Fast swimming and crawl too. Running, running crouched. Holding your breath to steady your aim. Throwing several items at max range, I think. Increased usage of stamina, running ect. increases your thirst/hunger. If you don't eat or drink, you'll lose health. Rocket also said, he'd like to minimize the UI interface as much as possible.

This will be Dayz of the future if Rocket listens to the loonies :p

Rocket is the Bobby Kotick of BIS. -
I could never kill another human being, if he was unarmed or defenseless, what the hell kind of person do you thin I am! I shoot unarmed bandits for sports and giggles though, I am a hero after all.

In ArmA your achievements are your own. Read the stars, find north without compass. Learn the difference between cover and concealment, live longer. Understand mil-dots, score a headshot on 700 meters. I mostly believe achievements belong in games that are so easy, you have to add a false sense of achievements by ringing a bell and showing a pretty picture. :)

If the bandit skins are still in the standalone I'm going to be pissed.

But you also completely disagree with him on bandit skins. :) -
Straight forward logic about why we need a morality system
dallas replied to Slyguy65's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You missed my point. In some societies morality dictates you cover up your entire body if you happen to be a woman. In some societies morality dictates you chop off the hand of a thief. My humanity does not allow me to dictate how an adult women should dresses and I would never cut off the hand of a starving guy who stole a loaf of bread. To me morality is something a group of people dictates. To me humanity is something you carry internal, something to can keep or lose, even if there's not a society around anymore to enforce it. This has nothing to do with whether I'm for or against bandit skins, this is just about my definition of two words and why do we need a second thread? I replied already in the original thread and you just copied your own post from the same place too. -

I think he suggested to tie character progression to difficulty level. One save for hardcore, one save for softcore. -

I guess we're arguing for the same case, I just feel morality and humanity are too very different things. I'm for the bandit skins, when they were removed, I were forced to kill a lot of new players in self defense, because they thought they were suppose to kill everyone they saw, instead of trying to survive. -

You ever seen one of those reality shows where the contestants can be voted out. I think some people are very quick to lose their morals or are good at hiding the fact that they have none. This is not a TV show, this is the end of them world. There's no morals, what you ought to do or what society expects you to do. There's only what you do, you either help your fellow man or you take from him, what you need by force. -
Reminds me of this epic meme:

Would be kind of cool if you still could load a single round into the chamber of any gun.

dallas replied to electroban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think morality and humanity are two different things. To me morality is connected to the norms of society, in a post apocalyptic world, society is no more. While with humanity, you either remember to be human or forget and become an armed infected. -
I think that's the obvious sollution, however sometimes you need to mention the obvious, otherwise you might miss it. Beans for you for mentioning the most obvious and best sollution. Treat empty magazines as empty water bottles. Yes! Tell Rocket to implement it asap! :D

Some DayZ players will go out of their way to kill other players. Some DayZ players will go out of their way to avoid killing others. Some DayZ players are new and have not chosen their path yet. Whether you're a hero, bandit or survivor, everyone one dies in DayZ. New players learn from interaction with other players. When bandit skins were removed from DayZ, new players learned they got shot on sight, bandit players continued to KOS everyone, friendlies simply disappeared into the wilderness. While bandit skins were absent, few people showed restraint, while most lost all inhibition. When the skins were reintroduced, some players had becomes heroes, others faced a six digit negative humanity score and realized they had become permanent bandits. When the bandit skin where reinstated, new players learned that their actions had consequences, just like in real life. Before pulling the trigger on anyone in sight, they had make a decision, whether to shed their humanity and risk getting hunted themselves or risk their safety, for helping strangers. Although you could never blindly trust a player by the skin, peaceful survivors now started fighting back against obvious bandits and strangers were more willing to attempt non-violent approaches, instead of shooting at anything that moved. Maybe a mass murderers wouldn't decide to wear a sign to show their intent, but it's not uncommon for people up to no good to conceal their identity or for violent gangs to dress up to intimidate. Bandit skins strike a balance in a world, where you can change servers to a parallel universe, where your reputation as a mass murderer is completely erased. Humanity might not be the perfect solution, but it allows players to chose between attempting to be civilized even after society is gone or to prey on the weak. Instead of acting as gamers, humanity forces players to chose good or evil as human beings. Humanity enhances the psychological aspect that makes DayZ something completely different and a real emotional experience, the removal of humanity trivializes the gameplay, where the only nuances is who shoots first. -
Combine "Friendly, Friendly!" with taking cover. You should always either be on the move or very close to cover. If the person, you've called to attention, is trying to flank your covered position, ask him to stay behind cover, if he continues, you're free to assume, he's making an act of aggression. If you're forced to defend yourself, do it. If you receive a bandit skin for legitimate self defense, leave the populated area and adventure into the wilderness. If you don't kill anyone else within and hour or two, your humanity should slowly regenerate and you'll regain your survivor skin. Communication between friendly strangers are always much more productive, when none of you have a direct line of fire to each other. Don't communicate with someone while pointing your weapon at their head, don't allow someone else to point a weapon at you either. Tell them to lower their weapon(2xCtrl) or stay behind cover. Strike up a short conversation about DayZ, bandits, what they need and where they are going. But remeber to be careful about what you hear them say and what you want them to say. If you want their company too much, you might fail to notice any warning signs. If they mock you in any way, if they are sarcastic and cruel, there's not far between disrespecting you and pulling the trigger. If they are overly nice, if they offer something too good to be true or you get the feeling they are overacting, stay alert and don't allow them to get a line of fire on you. If you're survivor senses tinkle, say good luck and goodbye, if they follow you uninvited, kill them dead without hesitation or remorse. If you get a good feeling about them, at some point you have to extend them enough trust and this is when your intuition will stand it's test. Keep in mind, you don't have to group up with every friendly person you meet, sometimes simply looting a supermarket together in peace and wishing each other good luck is a big moment too. Groups of strangers talking together over direct chat is a very desirable target for bandits. If you decide to group up, stay on your toes in dangerous areas, possibly plan how you treat other strangers and don't get tunnel vison on you new best buddy. When you're looking for friendly interactions, you have to go to the populated areas, but where there are friendlies, there are bandits. Don't bring your best gear, you might lose it or you might tempt weaker souls. P.S. To me, holding someone up at gunpoint, asking them to disarm this a dangerous world, is an act of aggression. I'm as friendly as can be, but if you ask me to get on my knees, we can no longer be friends.

Run couched/run standing depending on the situation. I never sprint, since I'm suffer from the misconception that you exhaust your stamina too fast and are actually better off jogging. I might switch to walking, if I really don't want to get detected. But I'd rather alert the whole town than go prone. That shit's beneath me!

Would you quit if servers went expert?
dallas replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can do without all the difficulty aids, except for 3rd perspective. If 3rd was removed, I'd still buy the standalone, but I'd probably end up playing it less and less. I'd be interested to see if you could combine the combat timer with a forced 3rd person mode, since I always go to sights when I shoot. But being able to look at my butt, spamming my reload key, while I cross great distances is unnegotiable. When it comes down to it, I fully support BIS's design philosophy, where difficulty settings are enforced by the server and not by them. -
Headshot or a .50 cal anti-material rifle. When entering major populated areas, take the approach with the most cover, keep moving, change direction at every corner, don't stand still unless you've got cover on at least two sides, when you loot, loot fast and with your bacvk against the wall.
