Well once you get the DLC, you can't go back to the free lite version's poor graphics. :) Even if you wont need the DLC for the standalone, there's still good use of it. Either if you keep playing ArmA 2 until ArmA 3 is released or if you keep playing the dayzmod(not the standalone), because you still enjoy the mod and all it's user created maps.

Everything you need for the standalone, will be included, so the only thing you need to buy is 15 euro standalone.

^^Lol yeah trying to describe a road sign on teamspeak: The sign reads reverse B, three, backwards N, a weird looking six ect. I kind of liked it, it helped increase the confusion and disorientation, these days we don't even need a compass.

Standalone december release is alpha or full game?
dallas replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I consider the public testing phase to be over, when the standalone is released. Rocket is charging money for DayZ, thus have to deliver an actual product. He's not allowing kickstarter alpha participation for pledges or selling alpha access like WarZ(even if they now have decided to copy the his term Foundation build too). While the initial release of the standalone, might not be a flawless diamond, I think the goal is to deliver something a lot more stabel and streamlined, than what we played for free last spring. The standalone has to offer new features, a new Chernarus, new UI and content/mechanics to justify the price point, at the same time the price point will reflect, that some more advanced content is being withheld and that if the launch is successful, we can expect an additional year's development. The standalone has to be more than a beta from launch, because it will be reviewed as a game. It might be a 15 euro game, but it has to be more than a beta. While some of us are more or less buying DayZ, simply in appreciation of the mod and we're more than willing to endure bugs, ladders and doorways, DayZ has to be more to wow reviewers and new audience. -

Yes, I found it on a 1.7.4.4 official hive. The woodland camo.

Old name from the Counterstrike Beta, Texas Instruments became Dallas Robot Industries, Dallas Robots, Dallas Online and finally Dallas for short.

Try passing an unnoticed cow close by on a moonless night and have it go MOOOOO! I had an effing aneurysm.

The whole zombie design is pretty flawed.
dallas replied to Anarki (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There was something to be said for the original relentless, never quitting zombies. Once after leaving Berezino, I headed for the woods with a crawler after me. Got out of sight, when I passed the treeline, slowed down, maybe went afk for a short bio break, after a couple of minutes, I heard something behind me and saw a crawler slowly closing the distance. Killed him with a single shot, but I was seriously freaked out, that this lonely guy had been hunting me for 5-15 minutes. -

@Rocket. Thanks for that last sentence, the mental imagery. [edited] for context. -
starting w/ negative humanity aka bandit skin
dallas replied to mime_mimington's topic in New Player Discussion
You character progression is tied to your game ID, so you either have to buy a new game or alternatively you could find a private hive and start all over. If you're the patient type, you can also avoid shooting other survivors, while your humanity slowly regenerates to the 2000 you need to become a survivor again. Also the standalone should be released within a months time, where I assume we'll all start anew. -
Keep getting #45 kicked, also chick on gender selection screen looks pissed off! :)

I think I'll set up a combined medical facility/trade station. Selling expensive medical services and handing out free blankets and glass pearls. -

I hope suicide comes with a major debuff. I hope death will become more punishing in the standalone, where people who are detected spamming suicide is punished, rather than rewarded. It makes no sense in a survival oriented game, to have people committing suicide to gain advantages or better spawns. -

When we're locking down the standalone for hacking, it would be nice if data mining was made harder by encrypting the files. I feel like some of the game mechanics were too quickly mastered, because meta-gaming became so predominant. -

Always loved reading about these different deadly virus like debuffs in MMOs, that would spread from a single new monster and wipe out entire servers, when players tried to flee the outbreak. -

I love this. You can't trust anyone in Chernarus, but now you can't even trust trustful people in Chernarus. I really like the idea of friendly players, insisting on keeping distance to eachother out of fear. I also predict, instead of the ingame hat shop, Rocket and his brother are planing to sell ingame medical consulting for real money. Btw. what happens if you misdiagnose a common cold and eat all kinds of wrong antibiotics? -
