    LMB vs MWB

Yeah LMB is reserved for things that go boom! This is what I have: Use default action = "Enter", "Middle Mouse Btn." Use selected action = "Enter"

    LMB vs MWB

Options/controls/use selected option = Prim. Mouse btn. This means every time you use your mouse wheel, if you press fire, you execute the selected option rather than firing. Or if you're close to an active opject, like let's say a door and you need to shoot somebody, you might actually end up closing the door, breaking your legs, rather than killing the zombie, which will then proceed to eat your face, while you're stuck in the door bleeding and with your legs broken. The best thing you can do is to delete the control option for "use selected option."

    Random acts of kindness!

Beans for not shooting him with the weapon he gave you.
  4. The funny thing is that when DayZ launched in NZ, DayZ wasn't a PvP mod. But since us Europeans have a proud history of killing each other, it couldn't come as a big surprise that when DayZ launched it's servers in Europe, we all started blitzkrieging each other. DayZ isn't PvP or PvE, it doesn't tell you how to survive, it just registers how you survive and call it your humanity score.

    How to fly a plane?

I reassigned throttle up/down to W/S To get off the ground, use the mouse menu and lower flaps one notch. Increase throttle, when you're speed is high enough to create lift, raise the nose slowly, so you don't lose too much speed and climb slowly. When you make turns or wants to climb, keep an eye on your airspeed, if you turn too tight or climb too fast, it will turn red and you'll start to stall.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Experienced developers know one thing: Gamers handles not knowing a whole lot better than potential delays.
  7. Re-install? Or check graphics options, screen resolution, interface resolution, interface size, aspect ratio.
  8. Nothing prevents PvE players from not going to Stary, Elektro or NWA. I don't think there's a problem, there's just some people, who both wants to loot NWA/Stary and be safe at the same time.
  9. Spawn in complete darkness. Seeing nothing, only hearing waves over and over pounding on the beach. Realizing my eyes wont adapt to complete blackness. Stepping off the beach and as the waves fade, I hear several scary moans close nearby. I retreat defeated to the beach, then the rain starts, or more accurately the monsoon. I decide to travel along the beach hoping to avoid zombies and hoping the moon soon will rise. I see the silhouette of a boat bridge and decide to hide out there. There, I get shot and killed. I log off and go to bed.

I wouldn't mind some kind of combined handgun, flashlight animation. But just like you can't aim a weapon while sprinting, obviously this would also affect your flashlight. But I think the main problem is that as long as it's easy to exploit gamma setting, players will continue to render flashlights, rave sticks and road flares obsolete.
  11. There's no right and wrongs in DayZ, it's all about trying to justifying your actions or living with your regrets. Most survivors in DayZ has a little dirt on them. Whether you become a bandit or a survivor, at least you had the kind of experience, Rocket intended, when he designed the mod. The cool thing about DayZ is you have your own motivations for the actions you make, but it's very hard to know what motivates other players. You where definitely in a dangerous situation, if you had call out most players wound instantly move, making it a lot harder for you to make a lethal headshot. If the guy had moved, you'd be in a very bad place with a 7 shot handgun versus a 30 round full-auto AK. I generally never call out "Friendly, friendly!" unless I'm behind safe cover or are crossing someone's line of sight, while running for cover. I hardly ever engage someone unprovoked though, I only have one kill since I began playing months ago, that I couldn't find any justification for, so in that situation, I'd probably have placed some kind of cover between us.

L85 Should it stay or go

Thermals are incredible overpowered and they are often used in combination with the AS50. Swipe a hillside with the thermal, switch weapon and boom. Any alternative without thermals is cool. If you allow the CWS, you might as well allow the AS50 TWS too.
  13. Just checked SE1 out for an hour, seems like a well adminned server, which is my highest priority.
  14. On a scale from pretty good to pretty awesome good, I rate it pretty awesome good. :)

    i cant run!

Might be because you're unarmed and either pressed iron sights or lean, while on the move.

    Combat logging increase

I scoped two other players the other day, they were farming the apartment buildings, looking for a tent or ghillie suits, every time they got zombie aggro, poof they went off to the lobby. You need to put a 5 min. timer on it or something, press P on any given time and you see players bouncing back and forth, between lobby and game.

    Steam for the Standalone.

Well the Valve guys were pretty supportive, according to Rocket, so maybe baby.
  20. Rocket has said it has to be released before new year. If they are forced to delay, we'll just have to accept that the game's current state is unstable and not ready. I don't think Rocket can foresee the future and two team members getting arreseted probably wasn't planned, I guess as soon as possible will have to do, if they are forced to delay. I think we as players are past the alpha/beta phases, I think of the foundation buildTM as a stable version, with new features such as new version of Chernarus, new player models, new weapons, new skins, new inventory and new gameplay mechanics. I also think we're getting a discount, because DayZ is sold as a product in continued development. The most important feature of DayZ is the standalone build of the engine, that it is better protected and stable from launch. The next thing it has to deliver is enough content to keep players entertained, while continued development slowly progress in the coming months.

    Version 1.7.3 download link?

I finally made the switch to DayZcommander, it's very easy to switch game versions, just click install/upgrade, select the version and reinstall. I should have gotten DayZcommander ages ago.

    Darkness at night

The brightness depends on the color of glow stick- Green sticks cast the wides and brightest light circle. Red sticks cast the smallest circle of light, but for some reason is still easy to see at distance. Blue sticks cast a decent circle of light, but is the hardest to see at distance. If you use glow sticks, road flares and flash lights with a little caution, you'll present a smaller target for other players. -Always point flashlights downwards, only use it shortly and never if you suspect other players are in the area. -When carrying a glow stick, always keep on the move, drop/extinguish it if you're not on the move or notice player activity. -Throw road flares on the perimeter of the area you need to search, never enter the flare's circle of light in you're worried about player activity. Use the light's contrast from a distance, to navigate, loot or distract zombies. If you're using flares in a city, throw 3-4-5 flares in all directions, quickly switch position and move using the contrasts and never inside the light. Obviously the rule, always stay on the move, only stop, when covered and with your back against the wall, also applies at night.

    Darkness at night

The moon light really only helps, when the moon is up. Plus there's also a big difference between a full moon and a new moon. Just like the sun, the moon isn't a static object in ArmA. It rises and falls on the night sky and follow it's own lunar calendar. On a moonless night, the stars don't really offer enough lights for human eyes to distinguish objects on the dark side of Earth. On a clear night you can see a millions of stars, but below the horizon, it's just one shade of black. This is why you use NVGs, which are designed to enhance star light 50.000 times. On a cloudy night you can see a lot more, if there's light pollution beyond the horizon from a major light source like a town or a city. But since the workers on the power plants are either busy hunting for brains or beans, all you get to navigate by at night, is the moon, if it decides to show up. The only problem with nights is that it isn't a level playing ground, because people exploit gamma. Instead of giving up, you should actually try it out, the way it was intended, pitch black, it's a totally different game. Use artificial lights intelligently and use your ears even more.
