They gave me keys to a US server, Whitelisted come in
dallas replied to Steak and Potatoes's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Did the forum lag a bit when you posted the thread? -
Nothing beats being a quite praceful survivor, having one of your friends killed in Berezino, rushing over there, knowing you're little pacifist ass is heading straight for conflict and having the unfortunate luxury of dropping a few m203 40mm high Explosives on their inhumane heads from the top of the Hospital.

Please help me to install Dayz! Ive tried everything!
dallas replied to tooheysnew11 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Don't know if this will help you. Combined Operations basically means launching ArmA2/ArmA2:OA together. You get the error Chernarus missing, when you try to launch DayZ without ArmA 2. -When both games are installed, run ArmA 2, then shut it down. -Then run ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead and check the expansions menu and make sure the ArmA 2 box is checked. If it hasn't check the box and when you press ok, the game should restart with both Arma2 and OA active(also known as Combined Operations). -Update with DayzCommander. -Shut down DayzCommander. -Launch Operation Arrowhead and check if DayZ is active in the expansions menu. Anyways I have to leave the house for a an hour or so. Good luck. -
I'm not sure why I have to repeat myself, since we already have the other NYC thread, but I say Seattle, I say again... Seattle. Give me a re-skin of Seattle, think NYC in Twelve Monkeys, sealed off office buildings, dust and snowstorms, with portals to underground instances, sewers, subways, underground net of walkways following steam pipes and electrical infrastructure. Maybe a few above ground instances, a mall, parking facilities, maybe a couple of high risers or the Seattle needle that players and clans can occupy.

dallas replied to miket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion

Suggestion :Stop asking about Standalone Release
dallas replied to Derpy_Hooves (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I know you can't give us a specific date at this point, but can you at least confirm that DayZ wont be released in the first 13 days of December? -
promote walking (will be unpopular of a suggestion)
dallas replied to SoWeMeetAgain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I really like the idea of taking DayZ fully down the path of The Road, where fatigue and exhaustion slows the pace of the game down. Where many people carry unloaded firearms or have so little ammunition, they'd prefer to hold up people, than killing them on sight. Where running longer distances increase your thirst, hunger and affects your accuracy severely. However I think it would be too radical a change in gameplay, a no-go for most players and since nothing like this has ever been tested in DayZ, it would be a huge risk to implement and cause major upset. As much as I like it, I think it's close to impossible to implement it at such late stage. -
Wasn't it Rocket who said he remembered killing his first person and instantly felt regret. There's more to DayZ than KOS and increasing your kill/death ratio, but each to his own, I enjoy the advanced psychological aspect of DayZ and you kill-on-sight-lol players actually adds to this element. As a survivor/hero, you never know if the player you encounter is a peaceful survivor or someone purely playing for teh lulz.

do you think peripheral dots will be in dayz standalone?
dallas replied to Pixelwarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I wouldn't mind greatly reducing them. -
Maybe when underground facilities are being implemented, you could instance these big maps.

ive been killing fresh spawns for the past 6 hours.
dallas replied to HeHeHe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ima, check the date of the thread. :) -
Look at youtube for Take on Helicopter video's to get an idea of that DayZ would be like in Seattle or NYC. Would love to see Seattle with winter textures and while most of the buildings would be closed off to save the frame rate, add instances for the sewers, subways, shopping malls, underground parking facilities, underground transformer stations ect. ect.

Can anyone confirm whether Rocket had the grilled salmon on the plane?

Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions
dallas replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
^^Don't worry. Crossbow has been redone for the standalone and you should also be able to find quivers. -
It was intended so that if you already had taken damage from another person, you wouldn't lose any humanity if you killed or wounded him, but I'm not sure it's working correctly. You start out with 2500 and a kill usually costs 3000, but as humanity slowly regenerates, if you avoid killing other people for 1-2 hours, your humanity should regenerate enough to turn you back into a survivor. I'm kind okay with any kind of killing hurts your humanity, the only time I earned a bandit skin, I simply took a trip into the wilderness, avoided player contacts for two hours and became a survivor again. If you keep placing yourself in situations, where you end up killing other survivors, even in self defense, I think the bandit skin is deserved. You don't have to kill everyone you meet, you don't even have to kill anyone, who shoots at you. :)

I have the advantage of being a long time BI customer and we don't buy their games for what they are, but for what they become. As long as you're able to keep your expectations somewhat in check, you should be just fine.

Shotgun damage should be instant kill, and potential for multiple kills.
dallas replied to JimJam (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not uncommon to get two zombles in a tight group with a bucket of pellets, I only carry pellets. I prefer the m1014, but I'm no stranger to the double-barreled. -

Stop being a sitting duck. If you allow people getting a clean line of sight on you, most people will pull that trigger, either out of paranoia, self preservation or simply because they KOS. Remember that with your default animation, whenever you're looking a people, you're pointing the muzzle of your gun straight at their face. People don't react kindly to that. If they know you're a fast click away from shooting them in the head, why should they hesitate for a moment? What you need to do it break life of sight, whenever you encounter anybody. Anybody? ANYBODY!!! Keep your distance and yell Freindly, Friendly! from cover. Tell them you're friendly, you want no trouble and tell them not to point their gun at you. If they try to flank you, if they keep their weapon raised, go ahead and assume they're out to get you and either attempt to escape, if you don't want to lose humanity or go ahead and kill the hell out of them. If they are friendly, strike up a conversation with them, but keep an eye on them, don't expose yourself and pay attention to what they say. Make sure you don't mistake what you want to hear, with what you're really hearing. If they come off as unnatural friendly or a little bit disrespectful, they'll probably turn on you, when they get bored with your company or get a chance to shoot you in the back. If you get a bad feeling, say: "Take care and goodbye" and try to leave as safely as possible. I prefer to socialize in Chernogorsk near the supermarket/church. When you enter that area, be aware of your surroundings, all the buildings, fences create fairly safe assess/escape routes. If you keep on the move, follow the natural cover and don't expose yourself to the most obvious sniper locations, to can travel "fairly" safe in Cherno. If you take fire, you need to instinctively run for it, placing solid cover between you and the shooter. People can't shoot and run at the same time, so you keep placing cover between you and the shooter, you can quickly create distance from the danger. Anyways when you in these populated areas, loot fast, with your back against the wall and always be ready to run or fight. Also sometime just having a short friendly conversation in the supermarket is enough, you don't have to attempt to group up with everybody you see. If you want to too much, you'll end up dead.

BattleEye served it's purpose for ArmA2, no doubt it got bum rushed by DayZ, but it would have been way more effective, if all the wannabe bandits that bought DayZ after it went viral, weren't so goddamn busy handing over their cd-keys again and again to the real hackers. Some people have way more money than sense, you can't stop a tsunami of dumbasses downloading "free" hack from youtube, I mean seriously wtf, I'd guess more than 50-100.000 cd-keys probably got banned or stolen.
