Simple question: If you can't even convince first person players to play on first person severs, how are you going to convince third person players? Third person view isn't going to be removed. It's simply impossible. You can't remove the most popular feature in DayZ, which has been advertised both on the Steam sales page and in official developer blogs, you certainly can't remove it after selling +600,000 copies. I understand, you're obsessed with this hypothetical idea, but... it's... not... going.. to... happen. What's going to happen. Is that you guys probably very soon, will be able to enforce first person servers on the servers you decide to operate and then the big question is, if you guys have what it takes to sustain these servers. One thing is to tell everyone about how hardcore realistic you are on the servers, another thing is to actually keep these servers full. I personally think, you're going to have a difficult time filling enough first person servers to have enough of an impact. I also think you're making a mistake separating the first and third person hives. Me, I could care less about first person hives, but if you're asking first person players to make a permanent decision about their choice, I think many will prefer playing on the massive third person hive, rather than on a first person hive, that only allows you to share your character progress on very limited servers.

The RV engine is the worst engine ever made.

Makes no sense to talk about a Take on Helicopters version anymore. Rocket used that description in August 2012 and a lot(a lot) has happened since then. One of the things that happened since then, was that the idea of creating a quick release December 2012 was abandoned and they decided to rebuild the DayZ engine's foundation. ArmA 3's engine isn't a MMO engine, Take on Helicopter's engine isn't a MMO engine. They have many similarities, but ArmA 3 went one way and DayZ another. This doesn't mean that the same developers aren't working on both engines, but it means that these engines are designed to fulfill different purposes. -
^^Probably called "black something tactical vest."

Problem with dslysexy's video is that he doesn't bring anything new to this discussion. He just passionately repeats the same old and tired arguments over and over again, but then again Dslyxesisxi doesn't even play DayZ. Unlike DayZ first person players, he has helped build up an active first person community, which means they have no problem filling up their first person servers. What Real Virtuality does so great is, it allows server administrators to dictate their own specific difficulty settings, which means Shacktac servers can disable disable third person view, because they prefer to play without it, but still keep crosshairs enabled, because many of them play with Tracker IR.

What stops you from logging out if you are being robbed?

Pride? I mean, what the point of playing a survival game, if you have to disconnect from the game and hide in the lobby to survive? That's like losing the game. -

Probably because this was the only engine at hand for the job. Probably because Bohemia Interactive was the only one, who offered full creative control. While other big industry players were willing to throw high paying job offers after Rocket, none of them were willing to take the risks, that made this game a different experience. Everyone wanted to buy the hype that came with Rocket's name, but without Bohemia Interactive and RV, you'd never have gotten the Standalone. If Rocket had been hired by Infinity Ward, they would have made him do voice overs for CoD, telling us all about Modern Warfare's amazing cutting edge fish AI in his cute NZ accent.- 132 replies

I seen a blue press vest near a train station. The black stab proof vest, I saw at the ship wreck at Rify.

Unless bullpub, there's no problem. I'm a lefty and as most lefties, I'm also lazy, so rather than moving the mouse to the left side, every time I had to use a PC, I just started using my right. I don't think the game needs left handed animation and I never use it myself, but you can definitely shoot most weapons left handed without problems.

Seen it too, but since it didn't have any or few inventory slots, we left it there. Found at Rify.

Most games balance a sniper rifle's power and range with a decreased effective rate of fire. I hated seeing people dancing around in close combat with a AS50 or hearing the characteristic sound of a one shot one kill DMR sniper going Bam... Bam... BAM BAM BA BA BA BA BA BAM BAM... BAM... BAM.

I agree with gibonez on both the .22 and the Czech women. I also heard the .22 is a bit of a bouncing ball, when it first gets inside someone head, it will bounce around the brain until it loses all it's energy.

You're dumb, if you refuse to learn from this experience. Just because you want to be friendly doesn't mean, everyone else is. Just because you really want to make a good impression, doesn't mean you shouldn't always keep your guards up, both when it comes to "bambies" who outplays you and other people. If you want to make friends too much, you become blind to the always present threats in DayZ. You can't be friendly, if you're dead.

I believe they just increased the QA team by 510,899 new testers.

How about Balota airfield military loot getting removed?

Love the designated PvP arenas, think it's cool that people have a decent death match arena so close to the cost. You don't have too far to run, when you respawn and if it's too hot for your liking, you can avoid it. -
Back when when people had an option to play on servers restricting first person only, there were only a handful active servers, while there were several thousand third person servers. While third person can work both for and against you, people overwhelmingly seem to prefer to play on third person servers for longer periods of time and whether you aim are hardcore realism or not, consensus is that DayZ is more entertaining on active servers.

We all know that Bohemia Interactive is basically the Czech version of Activision-Blizzard and that Rocket is pretty much a more unashamed version of Bobby Kotick and that right now everyone is Bohemia's offices are wearing Hawaiian shirts packing their suitcases getting ready to disappear with all you all's monies. We also suspect that Marek Spanel is partying with all BI's shareholders in mountains of cocaine, firing gold plated AKs up in the air and throwing your heard earned money at the finest strippers money can buy in Prague. You bought DayZ of you own free will, you bought it after you freely ignored the giant warning sign on the sales page and you bought after knowing exactly what kind of support you can expect from the DayZ mod or from the ongoing development of ArmA 3 or you bought the standalone, because you're one of those purchase monkeys, who randomly click Steam's purchase button, completely clueless about what the hell, you're throwing your money after. How about we celebrate the standalone's success for a moment, before we choke on our ignorant rage and other stupid theories about Rocket and BI.

DayZ Standalone Virus : How everything started

That's why I also mentioned the DayZ mod and the standalone. See almost half a million players have already bought the standalone expecting third person view to be part of the game, it's even featured on the screenshots on the sales page. No tanks are featured on the sales page, no tanks are indeed expected to be part of DayZ, but third person view was a big part of the mod and it was featured in the standalone dev blogs. The dev team simply can't remove such a prominent feature after launch and they would ever give it any serious consideration. The bottom line, which you refuse to acknowledge is that BI don't have a problem with third person view, they think it belongs in their games, since 2001 and up to now, both in ArmA 3 and the DayZ Standalone. They even created a solution for it back in 2001, which have also been continued throughout their games. The individual admins always have the choice to enforce first person view, if they so desire. And looking at the supply of servers in DayZ commander, they by and large decided not to enforce it, probably because first person players weren't very loyal to first person servers and instead of building up popular first person servers, they simply filtered server based on populations and joined full third person servers. I understand you want to argue against what I'm saying, but this is simply reality. All this, is moot.

Is that going to be the real Dayz Standalone??
dallas replied to johnymst's topic in General Discussion
So because you were to busy glitching through the fire station, you didn't see the new inventory menu, the new character animations, the new weapon mods, the new new buildings, the new areas, the new character models, the new character creation, the new fast joining a server without loading for 15 minutes or the new crafting system? -
This is Day Z. This is not my story.
