Increase the consequence of death. Decrease the chance of death from fall damage. Increase the chance of broken legs from fall damage. Spawn all new survivors with a life jacket. Place 5-10 sinking sea vessels as far off the coast as the map limits allows on the East and south coast. Instead of spawining on land, spawn players in the water 500-1000 meters off the coast.

But.. but, can't you only see the milky way, when there's no light pollution darkness? When Earth's shadow side is at it's darkest, when there's no light pollution and no moon light to drown out the million specks on the night sky. The only starlight you can actually use is called sun light and nights are defined by the very absence of the sun. Other stars shine a lot weaker, mostly because they are so far away. The sun's light takes 8.20 minutes to reach Earth. The next closest star's light is 2,207,520 minutes away. To utilize star light at night to see, you really need a night vision device, that enhances star light about 15,000-30,000 times.

I think we're much closer to the outbreak, it's just the architecture and vehicles that looks like, it's been ten years since a world ending event, to westerners. -
When you log in and find your character wiped, what do you do? Do you stay and play on the server that can't connect to the character Hive? Do you expect that the server that can't load your old character data, will be able to save your new character data?

I see fanboy thrown around a lot, especially from, let's call them fans of other, not yet existing products, which based on very limited proof, but some pretty awesome promises, will totally own DayZ. -
A lot has changed since 2011. Most significantly was the release of the mod in 2012 and the release of the standalone in 2014. ;)

^^Could you please post some H1Z1 characters for comparison I thought firefights were meant to be confusing and they are always going to be, unless you allow flashing green or red name tags. The majority of clans or established player groups are using external voice communication, but when bullets starts flying and people starts moving all over the place, you're going to have hesitation to avoid friendly fire or accidents with friendly fire and that is okay. This is DayZ where death has a consequence, a consequence you can't avoid, no matter if the one you kill is a friend or foe. That's the choice you make. Go for Camo? Go for most pockets? Like everybody else? You're gonna look like everybody else. -
You think you're seeing the same buildings from ArmA, but you really aren't. Just because it looks like Chernarus, doesn't mean there aren't great underlying changes both to the engine, the client/server side and yes the many ArmA buildings, which no longer are big square set pieces, but now have doors, stairways and loot spawns.

Alpha, beta or gold, the mod was a mod. A mod you got for free, a mod initially intended hopefully for 600 concurrent users. There was no binding contract that Rocket had to support a free mod forever. Maybe some people thought they were entitled, because they paid Bohemia Interactive for a two-three year old game, to play Rocket's free mod, they somehow thought, that Rocket was legally or morally committed for life to a free mod. Two years ago Rocket had just released the mod and the mod was busy going viral. Two years ago the free mod started selling more and more copies of the old ArmA 2. Two years ago Rocket began working on the mod on company time, instead of his job on ArmA 3. August 2012 Rocket and Bohemia Interactive indeed made a deal to create a standalone version. August 2012 they intended to release a repackaged version of the mod before the end of the year. December 2012 they changed plans and fundamentally started rewriting the core of the engine. You've been around as long as me, so I really shouldn't have to school you on the basics.

I know it's alpha, but... Buying into early access, it's on you to keep your expectations and impatience in check. We all know it was going to be this way for the first 12 months and we bought it this way. Just like the mod, the standalone is a work in progress and the copy-cat mods has the luxury of the trusting openness of ArmA and do not have to reinvent the foundation, but can focus on copy/pasting all the cool code and models from the vast addons library of ArmA. There's no need to advertise Epoch on the DayZ general forums, there's a nice little mod forum for that.

Why not, if you can type in direct channel, why not type in a radio channel too. While it might not be an important feature to me, it makes sense to leave it in for people without mics, hearing/speech problems or cute lady voices, who don't like to be harassed by lecherous thirteen year olds. -
I'm pacing myself, I played a whole lot of the mod in 2012-13, I'm keeping up with the updates and playing other games too. The development of the standalone reminds me of the mod and development is always slower than your own patience, so you have to manage your own expectations to avoid major disappointments. No matter how much I enjoy both the mod and standalone, I know, I've been playing on Chernarus for a long time and risk getting burned out, if I keep the same hours as when the mod was fresh.

When I died I try to be as good a sport as I can. However if I'm forced to kill someone in self-defense, I turn into a twelve year old and taunt their corpses for 2-3 minutes.
