Dyslecxi shows just how amazing 1PP only is in NEW video.
dallas replied to Sidewinder24's topic in Gallery
Think it's great that dyslecxi is enjoying the DayZ Standalone, don't think he ever got into the mod much. I also think it's awesome that the Standalone offers first person servers for first person players, just like the mod did, ArmA 3, ArmA 2, Armed Assault and Operation Flashpoint did. I wish though that dyslsexi brought something new to the debate, rather than just rehashing the old and tired "exploit!" and "I like 1PP," but the only thing this video offers, is a famous name to the debate and an excuse for the first person lobby to create yet another thread or yet another poll about an already decided subject. -
I like the ten minute despawn, plays right into the perma-death concept. Long enough to loot a kill, short enough to discourage corpse-runs.

People vote every time they join a server.

Brand name foods, heinz, coke etc.. why they gone?

I'm already getting attached to the new Cherno-Kolas anyways. -
I'm imagining slowly walking behind a rollerblader with my chainsaw roaring, while he's trying to move up a grassy hillside.

Please add ability to open cans of food with sawed-off shotgun, I'm thinking 1-7% content of food remaining.- 2582 replies

How about if the game detects you dying from fall damage in a spawn zone, your next spawn point will be 500 to 1000 meters from the coast line, as in, in the water. Don't like running to Elektro? Now you get to swim to Elektro instead. Might also work as an incentive for ingenious bandits, who can prowl the coastline and force new spawns to jump off tall structures.

Reverse banditing: Shouldn't you be giving new players your pants and eating rotten fruit yourself? ;)

While I see the point in simply allowing suiciders(lack of better word) spawn at the same location, you're also allowing them to know exactly where they spawn again, which can also somewhat be exploited for revenge killings. I also know that suiciders, will probably just end up lining up in front of the overworked zombies, I just really really want to see a punishment for people, who intentionally kill themselves in a survival oriented game.

Clothing: Meta-t-shirts(think "Hacker teleported me into the ocean and all I got was this lousy t-shirt).

Someone has an unhealthy relationship with his fireaxe.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
dallas replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
It's already very easy to distinguish a hero from a bandit. If he helps you, he's a hero. If he forces a rotten orange up your butt, he's not a hero. -
Hjertemassage, perfectly clear. Also a good idea.

Just use the same kind of filter or overlay as first person uses. If the gas mask is damaged, there's more scratches on the screen and add a thin plasticy filter on top of pristine masks. Add "fog" to the screen as your breathing increase and add a more darth vadery breathing sound. While the gas mask has two holes for eyes, just like with binoculars, the brain somehow compensates and combines the two sight pictures, so I don't see, how you couldn't also use the same overlay in third person.

Better to die on your feet, than on your knees.

Combat Logging - Massive Game Killer for DayZ

Wargames said it best: -
I hope it's something that's going to expanded on in the future, it must be some rough placeholder mechanics for the initial alpha release. Makes no sense that you can simply replace all your blood with salt water and then be back on your feet in no time.
-
I don't think there has to be a big difference, just like with the NVG layout.
-
If it already works for NVGs, then I can't see how it can't also work for gasmasks, fogging up your screen during laborious exercise.

Like the idea, love the idea of a click-clack warning, even though it's mostly for effect.

I don't really agree or disagree with modding, modding is kind of what Real Virtuality do, lots of good things come from modding, even DayZ itself. However there are also lots of lazy and bad things, like modding a survival mod to have AS-50 starter gear and functioning vehicles everywhere you look. It's not that I dislike modding, but rather that I enjoy and support the original vision of DayZ and without DayZ mod, we really wouldn't have seen all these DayZ-mod-mods that lifted the DayZ mod's code and it's UI and then turned it into something Team Fortress 2ish.

So you're telling us, it's so good damn late, that you have time to loot Balota, but somehow haven't got time to spend 30-60 seconds on distancing yourself from the military base, before you log off? So you want us to believe, than when you've had a good night's sleep or rushes back from whatever family emergency, that prompted you to eject yourself from your PC cockpit to hurry to a family member's death bed or rescue an old lady and her forty cats from the burning neighboring building, you want us accept your guarantee, that when you log back in to the prison building and you spawn right in front of us with your "Y-days hard-fought survivalism tasty gear" and see us, that you're not going to instantly fill our bodies with sixty rounds of prime 5.56mm ammunition, when you haven't even convinced us that you're not actually just another server hopper in the first place? What we're saying is, if you're inside a highly competitive high yielding military loot building and someone longs into that building, you have only two options: You can die or you can kill. There are many good reasons for changing servers after extended play on one server, but if you're changing servers for loot and you just happen to be changing servers in a military building, firestation or school, you are by definition a loot farming server hopper. People switching servers from inside military buildings aren't interested in making friends, they are interesting in getting endgame gear with as little effort as possible and will therefor without doubt, kill you on sight, unless you shoot them while they log in. However OP took a giant risk, handcuffed and spoke to the server hopper, before he correctly realized that he was wasting his words on a POS server hopper. -If someone hits you in the face with a fireaxe, they are probably up to no good. -If someone logs into a military building, they are most definitely a server hopper.

So playing with your friends is an exploit, but ghosting is not?

I fear dying and I hate dying. I hate losing all my gear, but I hate losing all me gear to another player more. However as soon as I spawn again, I feel a great relief and feel I can play more freely and are always happy to start all over.
