Something to help clear the air.

What I find incredible charming about DayZ's development is the complete lack of traditional PR and hype from a marketing specialist. It's nice to be treated like an adult for a change.

Something to help clear the air.

Now there's a dev blog, I'd like to see.

Something to help clear the air.

We all bought the game. We all bought a game in development. We all bought a game in the alpha stage. We all bought a game from developers, who estimated that getting all key features into the game would take more than a year. However we all manage our expectations and patience differently.

spawning idea: spawn in a boat

I'd prefer if players spawned wearing a life vest, about 500-1000 meters off the coast, maybe add some sinking looking sea vessels. Every new spawn would then have to waste a few minutes swimming to land and it would work as a great deterrence against committing suicide from the nearest highest building, because it would probably be faster to run to your desired destination, than to start swimming to shore all over again.

    Suicide Option?

We need to replace fall damage with leg or spinal injury.

    What has DayZ taught you?

Their transparency has made me totally immune to the Triple A hype machine.

Is this fourm a dayz fourm?

I really don't like that we have to go through four-five different websites to get all the official updates, I rather that a single developer or community manager come to my door every morning with fresh coffee and warm rolls and then announce new features and developement only wearing a bow-tie and playing the saxophone in between.

    Just shoot me.

Buddy they are telling you to drop your stuff, because shooting you will break all the stuff in your inventory. And yes it's better to die swinging, than on your knees like a beggar.

Possible reward for early access testers?

At least give us immediate access to the finished game!

    Screw this.

Logging out in an airfield isn't good for your long term survival.

Question about the certainty of this game

While we making up numbers, I will say with absolute certainty, that of these imaginary 60 million dollars, Rocket as pocketed 78% of the money.

Question about the certainty of this game

Na... they'll copy one of their proven game concepts, spend most of the money on marketing and let advertising create profits for their shareholders. You can't just throw money at a problem and wait for it to magically fix itself. Just like you can't just throw money at your monitor and expect the perfect game. I asked you why you and your 15 friends bought DayZ, since DayZ didn't have an advertising budget and you hadn't see anything about the game on youtube. Why did you buy DayZ?

    Afraid to go on

If you're afraid of dying, you're actually playing the game correctly as a survivor. However if your fear is ruining your experience, you should begin challenging yourself and taking more risks. I really don't mind dying or starting over, but I'm constantly scared of the shock of getting surprise by a gunshot. Respawning brings huge relief, but as soon as I take my first step, I'm right back, where I started, I want to stay alive more than anything.

Question about the certainty of this game

They bought an extra development studio, you remember? Yeps let's wish Bohemia upholds the same high standards as EA. *snickers*

Question about the certainty of this game

We're probably We're currently close to 2.5 million copies, about the same amount that bought ArmA 2 to play the mod. Just curious, why did you guys buy DayZ?

Question about the certainty of this game

-When you buy alpha, you're taking a risk, the earlier access you get, the more risk you're taking. -Me, I played DayZ mod in 2012-2013 and liked it. I also played BI games since 2001 and like it too. -I've got a lot of confidence in Bohemia Interactive and I also like Rockets openness and vision. I didn't buy WarZ, because they came off as disingenuous or outright criminal, I thought they made promises, their War Inc. engine couldn't deliver, their screenshots were fake, their gameplay videos staged and they were caught in one lie after another. Still a lot of people bought WarZ, just like a lot of people buy Tripple A titles, that use faked gameplay videos and then "downgrade" the graphics at release. Just like WarZ, H1Z1 seems to punish people getting early access. WarZ was two-three times more expensive for people, who bought in early and H1Z1 a "socalled" free game, apparently costs $20 for early access, but hey people have been blowing their money for overpriced games forever, the industry in general treats it's customers as idiots and time after time, the customers prove the industry right.

    new night time lighting

There might actually have been clouds, because the stars would probably have stood out and all I remember was trying to avoid the razors parts of the wire with my fingertips.

    new night time lighting

Experienced total darkness a few times, where you can only rely on feeling and hearing. Had a group leader on a military exercise get himself entangled in three rolls of NATO barbwire. We couldn't see anything, nothing and we'd already been maintaining our natural night vision during the briefing and patrol. We freed him, feeling our way towards the yelling and freed him in blindness, until we used the light of a G-shock watch, which made a huge difference in the complete lack of light.
  22. "Cater" and "mass population" I don't think the dev team is terrible interested in this word combination.. What they said: "We estimate that reaching Beta version with all key features present will take more than one year from current stage," I don't know if I would call it love of hiking, but I do indeed love the giant map and I'm always a little amused, when people complain about the size of it. Anyways the purpose of the genre is to stay alive, I believe it's called survival. If you do die, and you're mates are 20 minutes away, why not half that distance and meet each other halfway?

    new night time lighting

Sun light = 8,2 minutes to reach Earth. Next closest star = 4,2 years to reach Earth. No sun = night. No electricity = no light pollution. No moon = no sun light reflected back to Earth's dark side. NGVs = enhances star light 15-50,000 times. No sun, no light pollution, no moon, you're relying on light from stars more than 39,735,068,439 kilometers away, which isn't enough to see anything, but where the star sky ends and when the black soup of Earth begins. The closest star at night is 4.2 light years away, while the sun is only 0.000158 light year away . If you can see at night, you're either wearing night vision goggles, the moon is up or the atmosphere is lit up by light pollution from an artificial light source, even behind the horizon. And it takes effort to avoid light pollution!
