I've been wanting to make this window shot happen for a while now...

whether you like 3PP or not, sitting still in an open field while scoping out Balota, is not a great idea. -
Today Sinphaltimus will be teaching us about idiots in their natural habitat.

Personally I think the sense of reward comes from choosing to be good of your own accord.

Clarification needed: if GPS doesn't care about server violations?

Character deleted, starting back at the beach
dallas replied to Jochendude's topic in New Player Discussion
^^Hicks already said Hive is back up. -
I agree, if you go to the beach, expecting to get hugs and kisses for handing out fresh fruit, you just might learn a lesson about greed and gratitude. If you chose to play as friendly, you still need to look out for your own security and survival.

Character deleted, starting back at the beach
dallas replied to Jochendude's topic in New Player Discussion
Depends. If the servers can't connect to the main server(Hive) you can't load your character data and then the game will simply create a new player. If this happens you should try to change servers, but if this happens on all servers, the problem is with the main Hive. Then your best best is to log off until the Hive is back online. If you've continued playing, after getting reset to the beach and the Hive comes online, while you're playing, your probably going to overwrite your old character data on the Hive, instead of recovering the old character data. The hive is back online now, if you're ingame already, you're already saving new progression to the database. You can try to relog, but you might already have overwritten you old character. -
I voted remove all, but I'd like to see the dot replaced by a four cornered triangle.

I like the idea if a character ID/character progression card. I think every time you die, you should start at the character creation screen, name your survivor, select appearance and fill out a character ID. It's up the the player how detailed you'd be and then this ID would take up one slot in your inventory. Some players would only fill out the bare minimum of the ID and probably throw it away as soon as they spawn, spawn zones might be scattered with ID cards from players, shedding themselves of their own, pre-zombie identities, but others would keep it and they would have the ability to track their progression in DayZ. Heck if you killed someone with a old progression ID, you could loot it and claim his identity and the credit for all his zombie kills/murders.

Did something just happen to the character servers?

Brian Hicks @Hicks_206 5m We're taking steps to ensure we don't experience issues like this again - my apologies for any inconvenience caused. Game spawns you as a new player if you can't load you character data. Hicks just said character servers are coming back online now.

Log off, stay logged off until character server is back up again. If you continue playing, you'll overwrite your old character, when character server comes online again. [edit]Servers coming back online now

Does blood type change with new characters?

Lost Regular and Hardcore characters... :T

Character serve is down. So you can't load character data. So game spawns you as new character. Log off, so your new character doesn't overwrite your old character data. -

@Hicks_206 7m We're aware of issues people may be experiencing with the hive. We're resolving it, and will be back up momentarily. Please log off + wait. -
I like the idea, but I don't like berets. I'd like berets to come with a 15%chance that it's blown off your head like a frisbee and then boomerang around and takes your head clean off. Baseball hats, which I like, should come with a +17000 vitality bonus.

Well... bring them, but wrap them around your own gun.

If the Hive is down and game can't load character data, then game spawns you as a new player. If you continue playing and the Hive comes online, you'll overwrite your old geared up character. -
The character server is probably down, everyone is experiencing the same problem. Just stop playing until it's fixed. 1. If the Hive is down. 2. You can't load your old character. 3. If the game can't load your old character. 4. The game spawns you as a new player on the beach. 5. If you continue playing with the new character. 6. You might overwrite your old character, when the Hive comes back online.

Did something just happen to the character servers?
dallas replied to Kushko's topic in General Discussion
Usually it's not. If a server can't contact the character server, you can't load up your gear. If you can't load up your gear, the game spawns you as a new player on the beach. If you continue to play with this new player, you might risk overwriting your old character, if the server finally connects to the character server. If you experience that you're character is wiped on every server you join, you might want to stop playing, until it's clear if the main server is down. -
Did something just happen to the character servers?
dallas replied to Kushko's topic in General Discussion
If this happens on several servers, I'd wait playing until it's clear if there's a problem with the main character Hive. If you're not playing, you're not risking overwriting your geared up character data on the Hive. -
How do you do the "pointing to" emotion?
dallas replied to DayzForumer's topic in New Player Discussion
Only in experimental build right? -
Let me be the shining beacon of positivity for once. You bought the game, you own the game, you don't like it in it's current state, you're getting pissed off from playing the game. Take a break, uninstall it, play something else, in a couple of months, after a couple of updates, you still own it and maybe you feel like giving it a try then. See, I can also be nice sometimes, despite what people say.

This is a survival game, if you're getting killed all the time, you're losing the game all the time. Instead of disabling PvP, zombies, thirst, hunger, fall damage and disease, you should use every opportunity(death) to learn and improve yourself.
