Found a nice military flashlight with a low light red beam.

Server admins set the difficulty setting based on their own and their communities preferences, if you dislike how a server is run, you could politely ask for the reaons for the specific settings or find a server tailored more towards your needs. I like a little 3rd person now and then, so I play on server that allows it now and then(2001-2012). ArmA is defenently for me too.

Might have been desync, server lag. While you see him standing still, he's unloading a magazine into you and when you catch up with the lag, you're already dead. Sucks, been there, done that.

Even nice guys become bandits once in a while, perfect blanace, if you shoot first, you pay for it. While you save your life, you must atleast avoid damaging otherplayer for a while, unless you want to maintain your free for all status. :D

The Official Unofficial Bandit Removal Petition
dallas replied to The Killing Joke's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I just think you completely eliminate the interesting aspect of the gameplay if you remove bandit skins. Remember half the bandits wearing them are forced to become an outcast/pvp opponent, because they either killed someone intentionally or becuase they simply defended themselves. So not all bandits are actually stone cold killers, but by their actions, they are switched to the opposite side and can expect to be froced to fight anyone they meet. The humanity system allows coop and competative players to join the same servers and to interchain these two different play styles. That's pretty unique, players are forced to interact socially, but by happenstance, they can also be forced to become hunted bandits. -
The Official Unofficial Bandit Removal Petition

Glad someone agrees, without humility there's no reason to hold your fire, you simply shoot anyone in sight and then DayZ is nothing but a deathmatch session like any other game. With humanity you have to weigh your actions versus rewards. If you kill another player, you'll become an outcast, which seems perfectly realistic to me. Without specific skins any player who chose to play as playerkiller, can do so with full inumity and anonymity, because ArmA doesn't have CounterStrike death messages or lame red or green colored nametags above their models. -
A bandit is a playerkiller. Each player starts out with humanity level 2500. Healing people rewards you humanity points, damaging people reducts humanity points. If you kill another player you'll most likely turn into a bandit, unless you've been helpful to other players. When you turn bandit, you switch player model. The current player model used is a KSK desert uniform with a balaclava. To change back into a survivor, you have to either help other people or avoid damaging them. If you remove faction balance, you remove faction. If you remove bandit skins, bandits get to operate with full immunity and without repercussions. Alignment and faction becomes pointless, as noone will chose to play as survivors, because survivors will serve as props for bandit's entertainment as sitting ducks. Factions will simply dissapear, as survivor with either cease being survivors, quit playing or demand seperate survivor and bandit servers. DayZ will lose all it's complexity and social dynamics and turn into a simple deathmatch mod.

Vehicles, lack there of... Risk vs Time vs Reward

Take your friendly group touring different factories and industrial areas, if you make a little room in your backpacks, you only have to make one or two runs. -
How do i get rid of zombie agro?
dallas replied to tyler_1111@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
^^empty cans or whiskey bottles also distracts them Run very fast and possibly wave your hands wildly over your head. I think you can lose them if you break line of sight, but that often requires speed and running makes noise. If the AI loses sight of a player, they will usually go to the last place they saw him or caltulate his last seen direction. Don't alert them unless you want to fight. Check the eye and ear icon on your right side of the screen. They indicate how easy zombies can hear and see you. In unsafe areas always run crouched, when you hear the first moans switch to walking crouched. Walk on grass to reduce noise. Chose where you fight and make sure you have enough ammo for the job. If you enter a loney house with a single or two zombies, you can easily take them out, but if you're in a build up area with alot of zombies nearby, they will overrun you when they hear the first shot. If you have lots of ammo and lots of targets, enter and shoot all zombies inside, turn about and cover the door. Zombies are very polite and always enter houses in a line, they never run wild and crazy inside and some even wipes their feet. -
Not the biggest fan of playerkillers, however I appreciated art. +1

Blood transfusions = 8000 blood? -
Fair? You just asked some noob to trust you, raised your magnum and blew his face out his butthole. Bandit skins create balance. Playerkillers get their first kill free of charge, after that they must fear survivors, the way survivors fear them.

The Official Unofficial Bandit Removal Petition
dallas replied to The Killing Joke's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is as lame as demanding immunity from pvp. How about we remove any reason for playing as a friendly and remove any consequence for your choices. I'm ok with the humanity reset, if humane players gets to regain their equipment after death. If there's no consequences for killing other players, then there's no reason for playing as friendly. Don't trivialize the time and effort players make to play as friendlies, by allowing bandits to reboot their humanity by pressing respawn. We have to challenge everyone we meet, trust them or avoid them, which is pretty damn time consuming. The time we waste on avoiding conflict, a remorseful bandit should waste on regaining his humanity. You mock people for wanting to remove pvp from servers and then demand not getting flagged as a pvp player. I don't mind playing with my hands tied behind my back, while others gets to kill and pillage, but when they've revealed themselves as bandits, atleast give me green light to treat them as such. -
Yo Rocket it's yo burfday! Yo gonna work on DayZ like it's yo burfday?

Perfect the way it is. Killed a guy in selfdefense and my humanity took a dive, had been a carebear for a good while, so I didn't even change skin and it didn't take long till I reach max at 2500. The most of the encounters I've come acrss, I put myself in a position where I can either avoid contact or fornard people comming too close. Killing a single survivor hardly affect your humanity or you can atleast recover it fairly quickly. Getting yourself into "selfdefense" situations too often, you earned your permanent bandit skin.

Please don't make ACRE mandatory for DayZ. -
Do you in any way regret this mods sudden rise of popularity?

DayZ has not compromised ArmA's mil-sim gameplay, people just want to try something else than mainstream MW clones. -
Got scared in Polina yesterday. Low runnng along the supermarket for the door and suddenly two Cz shots in rapid succession ricochet off the ground, only feet away, sprint into the store and after a quick search find it clear of zombies. Find cover and wait for a few minutes. Haven't closed all the doors at this point, any bandit on overwatch in the surrounding hills would quickly confirm my location. After some time has passed, I begin hearing moans nearby and decide to close all doors, to delay any spawning zombies, even if it reveals my position to the bandits. If they are in Polina to raid the store, the only reason they haven't attempted anything yet is because they know I'm still in here trapped. Quench my thirst, baked beans, wait and listen. Nothing, not a sound the next five minutes. Really don't want to lose my AKM, ammo for my .45, bloodpacks and the remington shotgun in the pack. Want to log off, Want to live, but I don't want to ruin my rep on my prefered server and there's also something inside, wanting to play this out to the finish. Decide to make a move, head for the main entrance, open the doors and exit to the left. Rounding the corner, spot a survivor come creeping around the back corner of the store. He quickly retreats back in cover and I'm forced back into the store. Close the door, head for cover. Hear his footsteps as he hears mine. We do the position dance for a while, I head for the back room, he heads for the frontside glass facade. I head back, he heads back. Second time he moves for the front, I decide to open the backdoor pop a smoke and add some zombies to the equation. Their loud swarming moans cover my swift retreat to the opposite end of the back room, after a few seconds, my opponents footsteps carry thoughthe wall. He's now inside, He's close to the wall, heading for the counter, the only store entrance to the back rooms, my final retreat. Hoping he'll head for the room with the open smoke covered door, but afraid to look out. He will look in my direction, when clearing the large center backroom. I wait, I check my AKM, on semi-automatic, pause and lean out. He is in still in the large back room, closing in on the smoke filled doorway. Moving very slowly, carefully slicing the pie to the back room, back turn towards me. Bring up my sights and initiate. The first shots ring out, some strike the metal racks between us, some clearly hits him, his slow flowing walk turns to into jerking and twitching, his retreat and movement is limited by store racks and he panics. Strike him three-four times more, before I lean back into cover and register his death in the chat. The shots have alarmed all of Polina's deceased residents and as they lose interest in the smoke grenade, they flood the store, receiving my remaining AKM ammunition. When the last zombies have fallen, I search dead dude's gear, grab his M4A3 and find nothing else worth trading, burying the corse, denying any kind of recovery. Now the guy is broadcasting in side chat, how he, an innocent survivor got got in Polina, about his positive humanity. But he never made any friendly challenges, advanced on a supermarket under siege, dodge me on first contact and entered the store in full tactical mode. We exchange a few courtesies in side chat about his movites and his faith. Try to think straigh and fast. Have to move out before Zeds respawn or other players are drawn towards the action. Is it safe, was he alone? Dude wielded only a M4, initial shot that missed my head was from a Cz. Either this guy's telling the truth or his friend or friends are still outside waiting with the Cz. Make my move, go for the hills, this is where my memory gets clouded. Only remember taking fire from two different types of rifles, one of them the Cz. I zig, I zag, putting obstacles between me and the shooters. They have a bead on me and I haven't got the first idea where they are positioned. Ricochets, steel wasps buzzes my head, smoke puffs in the trees, as I reach the treeline. Sounds like one of the shooters are getting closer, must be running towards his position, because he can't be moving and shoot so rapidly at the same time. Don't look up, just change my direction. By now colors are fading, my joins are hurting, bones are broken and my blood is draining. Can't stop to bandage, can't stop to shoot, must push on to break visual contact, before I see to my wounds. Shots still ring out, but the fire is getting inaccurate and the bangs are more distant now. At a large group of broad trees I change my direction, crossing a small clearing and crash through the bush. Still bleeding I lose consciousness, can only watch the hourglass and the decreasing blood count. I hear several handgun shots from the outskirts of Polina, I guess they are fighting off the zombies drawn to the noise. I bandage, pop pills, geeze on morphine and eat all the cooked meat and cans in my pack and finish of with a pepsi. Would have prefered a coke. Blood count is safe at 4K, I'm concealed and noone seems to be hot on my trail. Wait 10-15 minutes and move out towards the setting sun for a friend too far away to help, but enroute with a pack full of blood. Today was a good day, even got to use my AK...

The items you currectly spawn with wont last for long, forcing you to begin playing the game as intended.
