Battle from the Ground against a Chopper!

    +Beans for soundtrack.
  3. Everyone wants to play the alpha, noone wants to test it. This entitlement attitude makes people rip off the mod and host their own private hives, where they can reap all the benefits from Rocket's work and not have to support it or endure rules to avoid admin abuse. I blame gangster rap and reality tv.
  4. Like saying you want to play chess, but not allow your opponent to take your pieces. Everytime your opponent moves into position, you think it's ok to put your pieces into your pockets and or move them to a safe place on the board. That's not playing chess, that's being a baby. Unlike him, you admitted you exploited once, you said: Disconnected 3 times, 2 times legit due to hackers. Nope, wrong, it's legit. It's hard to prove, but not impossible.

Good place for a stash `?

Find a loot map with deer stands. Look for obvious travel routes, don't place your camp between two good loot places. Try to place if out of sight. Don't get too attached to the gear in your tent, anything you put in your tent is up for grabs. No camp is 100% safe. If you find a good location, others might think it's good too. When you place your tent first time. Put one single worthless item inside it. After the next server restart, the item will probably have dissappeared. After that the tent should be safe to use, save it, everytime you place something new in it. All camps get discovered at some point, but for the time being, it gives you a place, you can call home.

    Dayz Sanctuary

Because they'd like to support Rocket, creating this monster awesome mod, which Sanctuary servers ripped off with/without his permission?

    Am I missing something?

Right side screen: Ear and eye icon. Toggle crouch, always run crouched. If you see/hear zombies before they see you, switch to walking or crawling. Pick up empty bottles/cans, press F to switch weapon mode to throw, hold fire to throw cans/bottles, use them to distract zombies away from the places you want to search.

I don't know where to begin

Look to the right of your screen: See the ear and eye icon. The faster you run, the taller you walk, the easier zombies detect you. Walking on roads/asphalt also makes you easier to detect. Toggle crouch and run crouched. When you see/hear zombie switch to walking. If they face you or get too close hit the dirt. Get used to zombies and learn how close you can get without getting your face eaten. Get used to which buildings are open and have loot. Stay alive, learn from your deaths, search, search and search for loot. Good luck.

    shipwrecks

I defenently wish there were more things to do on the waters. A note of caution. When I search the shipwreck near Rify on the east coast, I got crushed between my boat and the wrech and my coyote pack and corpse, fell to the bottom of the sea. :D

    Backpack sizes?

Packs are a bit tricky, experience will teach you what it can and cannot do. ...bitter experience. -If the pack is full and you place something inside it, you'll usually end up deleting the item. -A rifle takes up 10 slots, handgun 5. If you dont have enough free slots, you'll lose/delete/destroy the weapon. -Moving a weapon into the pack, the game will also move the ammo into it. If you don't have room for all, you might lose your ammo(maybe fixed?). -You can't drop stuff directly from your pack to the ground, if you drop an item on the ground or use a dead zombie, you can place items from the pack in the zombie or at the item. When you want to drop an item on the ground, only use the "drop" button, if you are throwing something away. When moving item around, always use the left inventory window, atleast untill you know what you're doing. < Water Bottle > Press > to pick something up into your right inventory, press < to drop it either on the ground or into your pack. If I have to throw away an item from my main inventory, while my pack is full, I usually drop it inside the pack, because it will destroy the item and leave no trace on the ground. If you have a rifle in your pack and want to switch it with the one your carrying. Move the one from you pack into you main inventory, then your main rifle, will automatically end in the pack. If you do it the other way, you'll destroy the main rifle.

    Backpack sizes?

To access your pack, you need to double click on it or click on it once and then click on the open button.

    teleported back to spawn

Either a bug or a "fix". I think if you bug out and you spawn at the debug areas, game will throw you back at the beach.

What should our next competition be?

Invite everyone to a tv gameshow, think Wheel of Fortune with sharp knives.

    Favourite Weapon in DayZ?

I prefere my M16/M4 variants. Poor for zombie killing, poor for player killings, but I like their iron sights, the entended magazines, ROF, even if the reduced damage allows people to disconnect before dying. Probably the 203 version if I had to chose.

Do you only play on one server?

Yes I stick to one. I miss side chat though. Saying hello to friends and bandits, knowing a few of the regulars, made you feel a bit at home, even if you knew half or all of them would shoot you. Still even without side chat, you learn who the other groups are, get an idea where they currently operate, but you also get enough of random server visitors, making every encounter as unpredictable as kill on sight allows.
  20. "It’s intriguing stuff. The Army certainly demands a broader remit from it’s shooters than we do, and an insanely detailed one. The full request comes with a daunting 243 page list of technical specifications, as well as a 13 page checklist on what they expect to see." Writing up a 243 page request for proposal, might actually make it very hard for anyone but BIS to compete. USMC was looking for a new sidearm and I think one of the requirements, were that the new sidearm had to be compatibility with currently issued 7 round .45 ACP magazines, making the 1911 platform the only option. So while they are officially looking for a "new" contract, they might just to looking to "update" their contract.

    Tracing Bullets

Hard to say, but from the sound I'd say, you were running away from him most of the time and than he was within 300 meters.
  22. While we're waiting for rocket to remove rifles from the only game, where are actually distances great enough to justify sniping, might I suggest you become less of a sitting duck in the meantime.
  23. Oh... but we destroyed the little d/cing bitch. He dead alright. Didn't get his loot, but a dead alt-f4 is worth more than the sum of his loot.
  24. Best of luck to BIS, they can draw of more than a decades experience and a engine that can provide 1st person perspective, RTS and now with DayZ also add mmo to the list.

    Tips On Shooting?

^^What Zed said. First thing I do, whenever I have installed a fresh copy of OFP/ArmA1/2 is to go into controls and unbind "hold breath" from right mouse button. While aiming you need to zoom in on your sights more than you need to hold your breath. If you zoom in for more than 2-3 seconds, you also hold your breath for 2-3 seconds. Before too long you're out of breath and your accuracy is completely destroyed. If you like sniping reassign hold breath to another key, so you can steady your aim on long range shots. Next. When firing with a light machinegun keep your bursts obscenely shot, tap that trigger, otherwise you'll hit high and to the right. Only fire long bursts when very close or to suppress an area. When shooting at training targets in ArmA, I usually bring up my sights, zoom in and then lower my aim, so the sights don't block the area I'm scanning for targets. When I spot the target, I quickly raise the sights ans shoot. Lastly. In ArmA the bullet you fire is spawned from the chamber/the middle of the rifle and not from your sights. This means, just because you can see a target in your sight, doesn't mean your bullet's path is clear. Your sights are higher than the chamber, so if you're peaking over a wall make sure the barrel and chamber is clear of the obstacle too. There are many factors in place. If you're shooting from 1st/3rd person view, the camera is placed a bit higher/left of your bullets path and you'll have to make minor compensations. If you're using your sights, you have to compensate on shot ranges, because your sights are higher than your barrel. You'll also have to compensate for ballistics. A rifle's barrel is not perfectly parallel with it's sights. Since gravity affect the bullet as soon as it leaves the barrel, bullets are fired in an upwards arch. If a rifle is zeroed to 300 meters, the first part of the fight, the bullet will travel upwards, above the sights and peak at about 150 meters, then it will drop, untill it reached the sighting point at 300. After 300 it will drop below the weapon's sights. Learn to spot the impacts of your bullets, so you can make adjustments based on dust clouds/blood spatter.
