I think Rocket with his snarky remarks about being busy with creating buyable hats, may have hinted that he's not the greatest fan of the pay to play/win model. -
"If you can play ArmA2 you can play ArmA3" But most probably wont play on ultra or with a 30km view distance. It's gonna be using the RV4(ArmA3) engine, but since it's a standalone, DayZ team will be able to customize the engine, to do what they want it to do, without affecting non-DayZ ArmA3 gameplay. In DayZ mod the infected are infantery soldiers hacked to play the role as infected, with the standalone DayZ infected can be created from scratch.

It's a long time ago. I logged in at night, pitch black with no moon and blinding rainshowers. Before I even got off the beach I heard zombies moaning somewhere close in the dark. So I retreated to the beach and thought, what the hell am I going to do? I decided to sneak along the coastline, untill I came to a small settlement with a boat bridge, which I went out on to, hoping for the moon to rise or the rain to stop. After a few minutes of doing nothing but being scared, I heard another player shooting inside the settlement and not long after that, he spotted me and killed me. Then I logged off and went wtf am I gonna do? I'll try again tomorrow, hoping for a few hours of daylight.

Depends on the server. Some as itemdrop enabled = 20-23 swim strokes before you have to drop your giant engine parts to stay afloat. :)

How come you private hive people spam the DayZ general with your threads. Ok, I get it, you're perfectly fine with ripping off his code without permission, but stop adverticing your private rip-offs around here. That's just low. -
It's a coin flip. The mk48 holds more ammo per inventory slots, if you click fire, instead of holding it, you'll get very close to 1-2 shot bursts. It might be a bit easier to recover your aim and make accurate long rage shots with the M14. If I were in your situation, it would be as difficult a choice.

There's the unofficial versions of the mod/map. But there's reason to speculate. Real Virtuality 4 has been confirmed for the standalone, Rocket's been talking about testing 1-200 players and Ivan Buchta has been talking about revisiting old maps, we might see something Limnos sized along the way. Atleast I hope, Chernarus with 200 players is going to feel a bit crowded. You'll be standing in line at the supermarket in Cherno.

Short controled bursts will allow you to see where the bullets impact on the ground and make corrections. If you want to go full auto with a machinegun, you better lie down and even then you have to fight it a bit to stay on target. Firing from crouched/standing position, you have to fight it even more and have to aim much lower and to the left, because your shots will go high and wide to the right. -

BIS has been at this for years. I bought Operation Flashpoint in 2001. Fives years later they have the audacity to charge me for Armed Assault. Forward to 2009 and no surprise, I gotta pay for ArmA2, Bam! just like that! These fat cats have been screwing me over for a decade. I talked to my family lawyer about a class action lawsuit, he told me to stop wasting his damn time about pocket change, get a job and stop whining like a child. :(

How do you fly the Helicopter?

Personally I change the contols a bit. W = increase thrust. S = decrease thrust. Mouse left = Left turn. Mouse right = Left turn. A = Bank left. D = Bank right. Q = Left pedal. E = Right pedal. I clean up my controls, so when I move my mouse left, I don't both turn and bank to the left. In Operation Flashpoint most servers said: Train flying in singleplayer -Start up ArmA: CO without DayZ. In DayZ singleplayer/editor is disabled. -Click singleplayer/editor/select map. -Double click on the map to open the unit window in the editor. -Side: OPFOR, -Faction: Takistani Army -Class: Air -Unit: UH-1H -Press Ok. -Press Preview. Fly around in the editor, crash 1-20 times and you're good to go. I'm not a big fan of the auto-hover, it has it's uses, but I prefere to land, while my forward speed is at 15-25kmh, when you touch the ground, you'll slowly slide to a halt. -

Tents are somewhat bugged. If you find a packed up camping tent in a supermarket or elsewhere, you can pick it up and take it with you. As soon as you pitch the tent it's your's forever. Only you can pack it up again, others can still loot it or destory it. First time you place it, any loot you put inside it will usually dissapear forever after the next server restart. After that, any loot you place or save inside it should survive any following restarts. If you pack up your tent and change it's location, after next restart you tent will appear both on the original location and the new. I'm not sure if both tents work or the two copies, somehow messes up the database. If someone flattens your tent, tents will be restored after next restart, either with or without the saved gear.

How come I gotta repeat the most basics over and over? It's today's headline for christ sake. Minecraft model. Standalone gets released in alpha. Price reflect level of completion. If you buy the standalone in early development, you get a major discount. If you buy the finished version, you pay full price. Heaps up silly boy. A free game is free. A free mod is not. A mod requires a game, in this case ArmA. I wanted to play ArmA, so I needed to buy ArmA. You're playing ArmA too buddy. When you're playing DayZ you're playing ArmA. DayZ is a mod in ArmA, so if you want to play the mod, you have to play ArmA. This is the way it is. If you don't like it, guess what, we got a perfect sollution for you. This guy Rocket is developing DayZ as a standalone, which means all you guys, who were literally forced to buy ArmA, don't have to anymore. You can simply buy the standalone and avoid dirtying your harddrives with ArmA3. Also BIS is giving Rocket something money can't buy. It's called creative control. Apparently it's more important for creative souls, than lime green ferraris, corner offices and personal assistants,

Imagine if DayZ mod was the standalone, that you didn't have to buy ArmA2:CO, but just could buy a game key and download the rest. DayZ build 1.1 would cost $9 DayZ build 1.2 would cost $11 DayZ build 1.5 would cost $13 DayZ build 1.6 when rocket messed up the zombies, he'd refund you $3 DayZ build 1.7 he'd refund you $6 due to graphic glitches. DayZ build 1.8 would cost $15 ... Final build would cost $30. If you bought at 1.1 you'd get access to the entire development, all the builds and be able to use your 9 dollar key to play the final 30 dollar game. -
