character and persictence wiped when 0.61 is out?
BCBasher replied to freddyeddy's topic in New Player Discussion
From my experience exp doesn't always get a character wipe with every small change but usually a persistence wipe. Stable always gets a full wipe with a full version change and usually a persistence wipe if there's a hotfix required. -
Character Bug/Stuck - Reset my char pls
BCBasher replied to Dovak_PT's topic in New Player Discussion
Jogging up against an outside wall and disconnecting your internet used to work, in the case of rocks with angled sides crouching or laying prone as close as you can to the outside edge and relogging works sometimes too. -
I live on the humid pacific northwest coast and can 100% agree with that, there's nearby town called Port Alberni that is always foggy in the morning and you don't know if its going to break until 1100 pretty much all year. You go over the mountain pass before you drive down into the inlet the towns built on and it's a clear sunny 25 Celsius summer day, get down town and it's under 10, you cant see past thirty feet, and feels and looks like October/November some days.

The two ancient computers I've played .6 on hardly even budge in the rain and have a huge improvement over .59. The only thing I noticed was the 9 year old desktop would have a very slight drop (5fps or so) but the 5 year old mid level HP laptop is completely unchanged in a downpour, not sure what was different because desktop decided to die.

My understanding is that if you remove objects from one spot the next item that replaces it spawns somewhere else. I've never seen an official statement on how exactly it works (doubt we will) but it's possible the way I read the explanations that picking up a military item could cause a civilian item to spawn elsewhere and vice versa. The clothes that just don't get picked up as much and should be just getting replaced in place with a similar item by their lifecycle timer.

Random disconnects after 5 minutes of playing
BCBasher replied to EloEndrju's topic in Troubleshooting
I've been getting that too randomly, I deleted the contents of my Batteye folder and validated my game last night which made it happen less but I still have to join a server a few time before I really "get in". Mine is partially unstable cell internet, I highly doubt your's is related your hardware. -
Reminder - need to know what server you were last on?
BCBasher replied to Mookie (original)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I believe it is newest at the bottom if you don't already have the particular server in your history. One of the .cfg files also shows the most recent server joined. -
Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
BCBasher replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
I think he's saying he's old and going to die before it's done, one would assume he'd put the $30 refund into his estate. He couldn't possibly be too broke to buy a new game and grasping? With the economy the way it is these days really he should just leave his steam account to his grandkids, DayZ will be a damn good game in their lifetime and worth a lot more than thirty bucks towards college. -

I'm no lawyer but this sounds like you and I and every other man on earth may a case for a full refund on any leisure time product bought at any point that we may not get around to using. Seem legit? -
With eight pockets but heavier and hotter when that's a thing, IRL they're this king of the jungle's pant of choice. BCBasher pants.

Exactly what I was thinking, make them match the hunters gear. My lovely wife modeling the full set in brown. I googled crag hopper pants and put those on my IRL shopping list for the four months I don't wear overalls, thanks.

They're not just in cities in .60, I've lived on Skalatisy almost entirely and found them in five or more areas on this island alone. I also encountered them in small towns, on the highway (Solchiny gas station area), and in the woods on the way there. I would like to see hunted and farmed food being at least on par with canned food and canned food to get more scarce. Chickens providing a reasonable amount of calories for one person and big game producing many steaks that could support one person for a long time or feed an entire squad. I picture a DayZ world where you could be challenged living off the land solo and even the KOS clan kiddies had to protect a "provisoner" to support their shenanigans.

Good bug reporting. Forget making the game smoother and better looking, moar gunz to pew-pew in elktro plz.

You know there's more than one video game out there right? I do and when I felt the game was getting stagnant for me I took a 4 month break, simple. After a good break my oldest boy and I managed to remain perfectly engaged for a couple of 8+ hour sessions last week we even played a bit on half full servers no that we have an under 200 ping now. We set and covered distance goals and checked our orienteering skills, we worked on calling contacts in a productive manner, we looted NWAF on a 25 pop with guns blazing killing every infected we saw and successfully suppressed and disengaged from the player that chose to fire on us. We got to use bandages for the first tie in months and even got close to junior getting hypothermia after rubberbanding into the water, saw the red I "i'm shaking" and promptly took the steps to prevent that from being a problem. I still feel the survival aspect could go a long way because we've already seen it before it got dialed back for the "i want it now" COD crybabies but that's fine, either the vanilla or modding will allow any experience we want. As someone who was born and raised in a "hick town" I just love the irony of how "city folk" look down on us when they're the ones who choose to live grouped in large boxes akin to a commercial chicken farm. If there were ever a catastrophe like a zombie rage virus my hick children and I will live and prosper while you're getting eaten by your fellow city folk because the majority of you are too stupid to live without infrastructure and a vast complicated support system. Your partner must be so happy to have found someone who looks down on their roots with such disdain.

1100 hours in one year and a couple months on mine and 534 hours on my kids account for $60 total works out to $0.04/hour. Hard to be disappointed with that kind of entertainment value these days.

Is it Possible for 3PP to NOT be Overpowered?
BCBasher replied to Kohlbar's topic in General Discussion
I remember way back like a hundred years ago (late eighties, early nineties) when 1pp games sprang into existence and I was like wow I can see through my dudes eyes instead of the lame top down or side scrolling games of yore. Then the dark days of de-evolution back to 3rd person so console peasants could watch their dudes butt jiggle or whatever draws you to that unrealistic perspective. I hope evolution takes your thumbs away too so you have to palm slap your mouse around wall peeking. Sincerely, 1pp master race. -
Had to google "Thor in Kung Fury" because that's my given name, your reference did not disappoint.

Are you still having the FPS loss? My X2 Athlon took a hit somewhere during the development of .59 but then got better along the way. I've been playing a bit this week to get back into it and the Athlon desktop at 3840X720 is only displaying a few less frames per second in a given situation than our 4 core laptop at 1360X768. They're both down to high single digits in the heart of the cities but in the 20-30s in small towns and the woods. Overall both feel better than ever even though the numbers are about the same as they've been for most of the time we've played the game.

Probably because I'm scrawny, uncoordinated, and hate physical activity that doesn't come with a pay check. My new wife loves that I don't like sports and would rather watch her sing Karaoke at the pub than the "big game". I do stare blankly at the TVs sometimes but I have no idea what's going on it's just a great way to avoid tedious awkward small talk while I'm busy getting hammered.

I'm Canadian eh but never learned to play nor got into the 'ockey.

My ex wife was a big hockey fan and could grow a pretty bushy playoff beard granted you could only see it if she was wearing shorts or a swimsuit.

I got my fill last EXP and the vehicles on stable left a bad taste in my mouth so caught up on some other games, I have been lurking waiting for this news though. Oh, mom and pops were watching that last night didn't realize it was local. My family need our own reality show called "hold my beer and watch this s*&^".
-
This would be pretty typical for me. Using my words to let a guy know I just got the drop on him.
-
I haven't played in 3 months but check the forum at least every couple days, this was worth logging in to post though. If they're holding a working build to gain hype for new players as an existing game owner (2 copies) my jimmies would be slightly rustled. Looking forward to something new to get me back into the game either way.

How can I play DayZ offline / without internet?
BCBasher replied to CDIA's topic in General Discussion
I'd discourage the satellite Idea, dropped mine because I got tired of paying $150 or more a month for a 600+ ping weather dependent. You'll have a very limited selection of servers with no BE ping kick among other things. They seemed to change something in the net handling at the end of my satellite play that made your laggy client wait for confirmation from the server before you could move or react when close to other players, being in someone else's network bubble was a death sentence. It was borderline playable on empty servers doing pve though.
