    Is this game worth it?

Well actually they rolled EXP back to last Thursday's stable build again while they work on data collected from the last two extra crashy patches. Experience inhospitable weather, significant infected quantities, and some big map changes while they sort it out for stable.
  2. Noticed the update on exp, spawned at Kamy, raced to Pustoy Khrebet for the five tents of leet gear! Unless 2 green sweaters and 2 ak buttstocks, and a head torch is a game is going to increase coastal PvP I don't thing you need to get too excited.

    why not ?

    Get Rekt!
  4. Because knee-jerk over reactions are how you get shit done?
  5. I spent the evening hitting a bunch of the new checkpoints and I'm not sure if it's some form of "regional loot" but the tents closest to the spawns weren't worth getting excited over. Helmets, jackets vests, knives, shovels, not much ammo, I saw maybe 4 guns (sks, ak74,short shotty) and that's with a bit of hopping to see hoe consistent they were server for server.
  6. Don't forget the big plans to make somewhere like the Tisy base an hazmat area or whatever with higher tier stuff and the helicopter but with increased environmental hazards. The coast will still have it's variety of coastal nonsense with players seeking more risk/reward heading to the back corner. If anything it should make that band in between interesting.

    Efficiencly of Tools

There's plans for actions to be time based instead of portions chosen from a drop-down like we have now. One would hope an efficiency multiplier gets thrown in there depending on tool contrition.

    why not ?

Is the SKS (PAP m59/66) taking a PU scope without tools a place holder? My Tula Arsenal SKS doesn't and I don't see any pictures of stock Eastern Bloc licences built versions having the tapped holes in the receiver to mount it either. Mosin variants that can take PU kit are much less common as well yet all the ones in game have a "bent bolt". Only time will tell how gamey vanilla will be with these mechanics. I'd be all for a failure rate "broke tap" cant mount a scope on this gun ever, "drilled it crooked" now it shoots left or right the more you have to shoot high/low, etc.

    why not ?

If you compare all three pics, the OP's photo and Gew's screenshots you can see that the rail appears riveted to the receiver. I have a little bit of a metalwork background and can say that retrofit isn't impossible obviously but would be beyond your average home handyman's ability especially if you had to "McGyver" it in the field. A scope has a lot of mass and if anything in that system isn't secure it's going to be all over the place especially on a rattly rifle caliber SMG. Not saying there's no chance they'll give us that ability but I'd consider it very "gamey".

    Well Done BI!

Both points are funny because I'm playing on an at least 5 year old hp laptop that I cut up the plastic and moved the HD outside the case stood on it's side to keep it from CPU throttling for heat management and I'm getting great performance (relatively speaking) this patch. So far as I can tell it's player bubbles meeting or bubbles activating too much AI across the map at a time that are causing slowdowns and other clunkieness.

    Well Done BI!

I'm soloing on low pop and the AI performance is night and day better with less players, my ping is shit no matter where I play so it doesn't bother me to play on AUS and SNG 1pp maybe give that a try? I cant tell if it's "server performance" or if they're activating and tweaking AI sensors as .61 develops but sneaking around getting my first gear as a freshie or going full cowboy curing them with bullets have been providing some great PvE experiences with an occasional human encounters that have been better than 50/50 on the good/neutral side
  12. There was some mention of a system to prevent server hopping/ghosting and moving to what would be inside the walls of a base the hopping back and spawning inside, I'd assume they'd be smart enough to have some system to prevent AI from spawning inside too.

    This is just evil

Damn, when are we getting cars that behave like that? I had a little rage quit when they screwed them up .60, that is something I'm really looking forward to now.

    0.61 Stable Loot

I you look at the aftermath of any disaster or displaced population where aid isn't immediately available and adequate the majority of people revert to acting like children hoarding stuff they think might be useful or animals, in my opinion it shouldn't make "sense" where you 90% of anything.

    0.61 Stable Loot

The farmers gun for defending his animals logic is kind of flawed, if you wan't your gun to work when you need it you don't store it where temperature and humidity fluctuate like a barn, maybe a well off farmer that can afford a stainless gun with a simple firing mechanism like a break action. I do agree those barns could have a gun and I even think any gun would make "sense" with varying degrees of rarity. The little bit of lore/story that goes with this game sets your spawning in after a breakdown of civilization and order. This isn't day zero of the infection, this is day zero of the survivor's new beginning in the wake of everyone else going to the gun store to loot guns and the grocery store to loot food. A very high percentage of the weapons you'd find would not be in their original owners storage spot and would have been moved to where the holder either had their last stand, discarded it because it was out of ammo, or went feral and lost the ability to use it. Look at the overgrowth and amount of survivors (players and infected) vs the number of beds on the map, you'd be picking up pieces of thousands of people's survival attempts to build your own. I have a bit of experience using zones in Arma games to make pseudo random AI spawning concentrations and movement and have a lot of faith DayZ's CLE will get dialed in and be better than previous systems when BI is done, and when modders start using it outside the box it's gonna be awesome

    Friendly animation

When the game is more finished and probably after modding is introduced you, I and KOS trash will all have their own little "worlds" that cater to different playstyles. As it stands now that guy that's going to shoot you is still gonna shoot you friendly gesture or not. I currently raise my hands and start talking in a compliant manner if they see me first, I wave if I have my gun out and see them first and calmly but assertively tell them "I'm not looking for trouble" offer help if it won't set me back and ask them what their plan is before I decide how I'm going to leave and carry on with mine. I've been shot a few times with my hands up posing no threat to the other player(s) because those players are playing like any other shooter.

    Remove hip-fire reticle definitely

Taker your dominant hand and spontaneously point at something without looking down your index finger, are you pointing at it? Grips are designed to mimic a reflex we start practicing as a toddler, anyone can at close range raise a gun and start chucking rounds into a man sized target by feel. I think either the old , new, or something like Arma simulates that well enough and helps keep perspective on where the center of your view is with it not always being in plane with the room you can see in your periphery.

    What Makes PVP Fun?

Avoiding it, failing that successfully disengaging. That's what I enjoy about PVP. I had my fill of shooters over the last twenty something years and the main thing I like about DayZ is it doesn't keep score and you simply win by not loosing.

    Take away the sharp edges...

Read the status reports, this version of the map is basically a place holder. There is a huge visual upgrade to everything scheduled in the near future.

Can someone explain this phenomenon to me ?

Is the note writing not working or the paper sticking around the issue? She never clarified. I personally would just love it if notes worked especially if CTRL-V works. I'd leave dated "bread crumbs" with headings or clues to track me or find freshie care packages and stuff.

Can someone explain this phenomenon to me ?

I would still be curious to see if the paper is preventing spawn points from working, The picture the OP posted shows a piece of paper on top of basically every spawnpoint in that tent. If paper's cleanup is being handled differently to encourage note writhing the potential is there for a problem. I'm running solo on exp and not going to mil sites but when I do I just grab and go, that looks like hoppers packing out as much ammo as possible.
  22. BCBasher

    Spruces or firs

You don't wince and take damage diving into them so they're not spruce trees, Douglas and Balsam fir have soft needles. Douglas has two opposing rows of needles making for a flat end section like a fern, Balsam fir and Spruce have needles in all directions like a bottle brush but Spruce needles are firm and very sharp on the ends that can poke through leather gloves.

Can someone explain this phenomenon to me ?

If the CLE is functioning as intended by picking up and unpacking the ammo should be considered gone, the paper considered discarded to be handled by decay/cleanup, and another spawnpoint activates or waits to activate when spawned items reach a certain level, as it'd been since CLE was introduced the spawnpoint that fires after something has been taken is and should be out of sight of the one taken from. I ran some "tests" of the CLE on .60 exp by running laps of Skalatisy island and destroying raincoats and shirts by cutting armbands and rags, I can't verify with numbers but anecdotally I could get similar stuff to spawn faster on the other side of the island. From what I've read and assume from it to trigger new stuff at a military base similar stuff would have to be taken out of the economy at another spawn point in the base or possibly anther mil site across the map. I came back from a break for .61 exp and am noticing paper is persistent or has a really long decay, maybe accidental maybe to encourage note writing? That might cause a problem with ammo spawning as in early .60 exp it was observed that freshie t-shits and sneakers seemed to "plug" the spawnpoint of the thing they were replaced with. It's tuff to do in a a mil site but testing and reporting on whether taking out the trash in those tents changes anything and reporting your results might be helpfuil for development.
  24. TL:DR 3pp is for casual trash, haha ha ha ha haha. Seriously though I play in 1pp no mater what server I'm on you can even set it to default in your setting. What happened to Deathlove she'd get so wound up about these threads like the suggestion 1pp was better caused her physical pain?

Pushing traffic to castles and Northern Highway

I personally don't mind having a few nice places to just because there's nothing going on but that's just me I have legitimate 1500+ hours between my two accounts but video games are my only hobby, I get enough outside and exercise at work.and can't focus on passive entertainment like TV so I play in the living room so I can interact with my family and watch TV out of the corner of my eye or when my kids play with me they play on the TV so I can see their screen and guide them along. I only sleep maybe six hours a day so I can put in hours gaming like a second job.
