We're both on home servers and they haven't updated the server files we have access to, got a compatibility mismatch between client and server. I half fixed it but I have no input on my client playing stable after login. **what you said was the first thing I tried**
-
Rolled back to stable and could join my server, spawn in completely normal, no input from mouse or keyboard. For fuck sake BI you couldn't organise a gangbang at whorehouse with a fist full of hundreds? Figured I'd take a year off and come back to something worth playing, fuck you.

Persistence in single player or home server?
BCBasher replied to BCBasher's topic in General Discussion
Form the patch notes. "Today's update will also enable the Experimental branch for the Server Files. We will have additional communication on the changes this brings shortly." Whatever that means, I think you could use the EXP client on your own server because both versions were the same. Four years in I get nervous when they say they're working on it type stuff. -
I've played maybe four time in a year and a half and I'm trying to get back into it. I've got no interest in PVP especially relearning the map and new feature, I just tried sneaking around on and almost empty server and of course, bumped into guy who's playing fortnight while I'm rounding up my shit to go off the grid. I hate how they fractured all the experimental threads so I can't even read about where were at currently in any timely fashion. Is there persistence in single player now before I throw away two hours to find out there isn't? I also own two copies and a second PC capable of running a server, do I need a 2nd copy of the game to run a server, or am allowed to use both clients and run a server if I wanted to play with my brother or kids on my spare copy? Is the an easy to use utility to set one up like we had for A2-A3?

Persistence in single player or home server?
BCBasher replied to BCBasher's topic in General Discussion
Me too, I'm on exp, tried switching to stable to see if I could play that until they give us the new server files. It downloaded and cancelled itself and is trying again, WTF? -
BTW I played this morning fine, went and had a shower and couldn't rejoin, don't know if mine updated while in the shower? I'm just going back to stable until the server portion is fixed because I hate people.
-
I'm having the exact same problem joining my home server but as far as I can ascertain the server files outside official EXP servers aren't updated for it. If you don't know how to "verify the integrity of game files", look that up, it fixes a ton of problems without re-downloading and it was stated to "do it".
-
That's the new EXP build? Not sure if you tried, they said verify your game files before playing. I'm in the same boat but trying to play EXP on my home server so that's probably not helping.

Not that this will get answered..... Head Tracking?

Persistence in single player or home server?

Because, if you don't read the forums every day it ends up with 30 separate posts saying the exact same thing, the minute version changes are redundant. Yes I speed read and would personally would rather read 100-200 consecutive pages than go back and forth through 20 five page posts about the same shit over and over. Not that my opinion counts or anything but if something pisses me off I at least get some form of joy from harping on it? -

I did, in my opinion when we kept the same EXP topic going for 200-2000+ comments it was easier for me to follow. When they got Batty supervising it, it all went for a shit in my opinion. "Lets start a new post every 0.00001 version change", same shit, same bugs claiming to be fixed in 10 redundant posts a week, the old system I could at least keep track of stuff that was working. Either way, finally somewhat happy with the game again now, I played a good 8 hours in the last two days for the first time long time. Still no helicopter, when was that supposed to happen, 2 years ago? I still have a memory leak in my client, cool? How's the end game area you need hazmat gear for coming? Nice to see they added Santa beards and gift boxes though? **eye roll** At least now I can wander around and do the OCD stuff that I think is fun without some tool shooting me for my pumpkin seeds without any foreplay like they're playing COD or Fortnight. -
Persistence in single player or home server?

Just did a half hour or so running the server and client on one machine 20ish FPS average which is as good as I've ever done online, played good enough to fist fight four infected in the dark and live. Now I can quietly savor all the progresses the developers have made in my own little anti-social world finally. Think I might be a happy camper now. 😏 -

I don't even try to read inflection on the internet, not sure ow to take that as it had nothing to do with my actual question. A good half my post were answering dumb questions in novices and newbies and sticking up for the forever taking development. I legit didn't feel like searching for once and just figured I'd ask a dumb question and see if I got a good answer. Was specifically speaking about how the experiment forum changed and my personal dislike for the new format, I actually solved that by not participating at all anymore. Thanks, not sure if I am back, I'm trying to see if I have any love left for the game and downloading server files and tools right now. As I've stated I think my favorite part of this forum went for a shit quite awhile ago. At least the client plays stable and looks nice on my PC now so It may just be the perfect world simulator I paid for after all, who knows. -

Thank you Sir, that's the exact light reading I was looking for. :) -
Persistence in single player or home server?
BCBasher replied to BCBasher's topic in General Discussion
Yeah sometime is a bit of an understatement considering my hours in game, post count and how long my break was. I was very, very active in the experimental forum until they changed it to a new thread for every minute version change, a large part of the reason I quit, invisible zombies too but I'm really trying to let that go. I'd rather read 200 continuous pages catching than go back and forth through 150 posts with little to no information in each. Probably more a me thing but I just find it frustrating. I also feel it killed some of the sense of community we had in EXP between people who didn't necessarily play together back then, still salty about that in case you couldn't tell. As far as downloading the serer files, does it include a utility for server set up or do I need a third party program like ArmA2 to write the config files to tune it for one or two players? Do I need a licensed copy just as a server or am I entitled to a server and client per licence? -
If they get close enough the can "check pulse" which shows the in game name, that's why some players run up close at first.
-
Yeah, I've repeated that lots of time with my constant "session lost" even seen twice when I got back in and they were sill there, another player in the area. I've seen a system like this work good but you need a 1-1.5km bubble for it to be visually seamless, they could even cheat if you used a 1km bubble and offset it 2/3 in front of the player but I just don't think the current system can handle anywhere close to that with the amount of players they're shooting for. I miss the .5Xs when the AI could see really far and didn't drop agro, ever. Junior and I could circle a town noting every infected, set up, 3,2,1, bang the first two simultaneously, than call shot the rest clearing the town. That's not even close to a valid strategy anymore and just plain not fun that I can't plan or coordinate my way through an engagement where I should have the upper hand because of random AI popping in areas that have been cleared..
-
I get disconnected all the time and one of two things happens, I either just drop and all AI despawns immediately, or a slow disconnect in which case my and the AI's position track properly, the AI's attacks register but mine don't and I have no inventory control and have to dodge for 30 seconds or more until I get "session lost", I have a horrible ping and this doesn't help me at all but for smooth MP they need to put the negative effects on the bad pings or it's exploitable. In the mid .5Xs I was like Neo from the matrix if someone started shooting, I couldn't shoot back but if I kept moving I was unhittable because the server actually cared where my client said I was. Most of the other stuff you suggested is already "on the list", welcome to the community.

I see you're working on the character stuck attacking bug, we were talking about that in the forum yesterday. I've had that since the beginning and in a few other games, the game is detecting the click from the mouse but missing the release. On login it seems to catch the mouse click on connect at the server browser, I believe the connect click disables input during the login phase causing the game to miss the mouses release and it thinks the button is still held when you log in.

Is this game (full paid version) worth buying now?
BCBasher replied to stefos71's topic in New Player Discussion
Sorry if you took that the wrong way but its a common thing around, guy buys game, plays 500 hours, complains its broke, wants a refund because thirty bones could have put his kid through college. Other BI games including the flagship ArmA will be built with or off the tech being developed for SA so they will finish it, it might take awhile but I believe it's because they're trying to get big things done right. -
Well I'd like to see them pull out something amazing for the sake of the sandbox. I used an ArmA 2/3 mod called dac that would effectively fill the whole map with naturally behaving AI and then hide all but squad leaders that aren't within a set player bubble. Playing two player with my kids it worked great with spawned AI counts in the thousands if you stuck together. We would start getting the delayed spawn in and unresponsive AI I'm seeing in SA if we separated and it had to manage two full 1.5km player bubbles, the server would go from 25-30 fps down to 5, right now SA looks like 500m maybe.. I want 10,000 spawned infected, to be able to spend an hour or two scoping a town, get either a good fight or a challenging sneak, and not get surprised by teleport hax zombies.

Love the community spotlight, here's my painted black SKS and the core contents of my assault bag including LSK in the ziplock that goes with me everywhere, I leave the rifle at home most of the time. [/img]
-
I'm assuming they have it under control and new modules replacing old will make big changes because the AI right now is garbage on so many levels, I get the core DayZ demographic but I actually bought this for Bohemia's AI and hopes SA's will be on par or better than ArmA if not stock then modded.
-
They should keep that animation one out of ten or something, that infected thought it was a fart, it wasn't. Seriously though there was a video in the SR last year that showed most if not all of the ones you suggested under movement, pretty sure all those will come with the new player controller.
-
I get it too, always have. I play on old junk computers, my ping is garbage at best, I've had it with other games and it's the mouse not detecting the switches release. I always get the log in punching and assume it's detecting the click for connect but disables input before you release the mouse button, a full click, un-click again fixes it. I can't even use automatic weapons because one out of three times it'll just dump the whole mag from one click. *edit* In case it's not common knowledge a computer mouse/keyboard does not send a signal the entire time the button is held, it signals once when pressed and the computer waits for the switch to flip back and signal it was released.
