  1. I think the already did that, it's called any other FPS game on the market. Look at all these people who registered for the forum just so they could complain about .55 even though they had nothing to say before. Listen to how the talk about BI ruining their experience and how they're entitled to be catered to because they're the majority. I bought this game because it's not (I hope) going to be like any of a million quick action flex your e-peen against others, cookie cutter PVP games already on the market. I actually wouldn't be surprised if it did happen though because everything these days has to be exactly the same or people get confused and if thing are slow to achieve they just give up and move on.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

I think they are working towards simulating the key factors your last paragraph. I have no scientific experimentation or extracted data to prove it but I have been trying to move more realistically for immersions. I seem to be able to travel farther on less sustenance by simply moving slower, I slow walk when I'm in the tree line, I crouch if I have to cross open ground, I toggle back to jog periodically to warm up, and only sprint when something is chasing me or I need to get to cover fast. I don't think they'll implement a 1:1 IRL scale but I'm getting 2+ hours on a full belly and hydrated status easily moving as I would if I was worried about surviving.

    Multiple Characters

Exactly what this guy said, I don't think there's currently any way to keep track other than your memory or taking notes though.
  4. But that's not what the "majority" of DayZ players want, They want fast gearing lots of food and no "farmville" just peeveepee! /sarcasm off With the availability of tents if your server doesn't happen to eat them you really only have to grow a crop ever couple days to once a week depending on how many hours you play a day. I think I have 5-6 pumpkins in my camp and can eat one and go on a 2 hour excursion only needing to hit a well a couple times, or eat one and take one with me if I want to be gone longer.

    Persistance?

That would be useful to know for sure especially if something has changed in .55. I had a camp of bags crafted and found the week before the update and they lasted from early Wednesday morning to mid day Tuesday when I abandoned them. I have a big military tent down on a private server with a new character now and it lasted 2 restarts so far, one that seemed scheduled and one less than half an hour later.

    Tents and persistence. Again

Started a character on a a private server found a big military tent. It has lasted 2 restarts.

    Persistance?

Good theory but mine are on a server that was persistence on before the forced persistence. Dropped another improvised courier bag, shuffeled a pair of pants into to see if having contents made a difference. Less than 12 hours later it's gone. I'm basically limited to a handful of servers with no BE ping kick and really only play on one because hopping is... I could at least go Wednesday to Tuesday, now I have no storage some word on this would be nice.

    Tents and persistence. Again

It's in my hunting backpack and I have no reason to play until I can set up a base camp. I'm healthy and geared, my end game is hamster runs and hoarding so I'll just wait. It seems to be server to server so I have an improvised courier bag down to check in the morning and see where we're at.

Rich gets richer, the poor gets poorer

That's why they made the fireaxe useless, to free up your shoulder slot for a garden tool. ;)

    Tents and persistence. Again

I'm not familiar with the Czechoslovakian religious calendar nor their statutory work holidays. I've got to say this isn't the first time someone's "broke my game" for a long weekend I've set aside to play and I should be used to it but it still hurts. :(

Rich gets richer, the poor gets poorer

Really nicely put but there's different types of gamers/people. There's way to many quitters or whatever you want to call them these days. To that bolded, underlined bit there I would say "What is this giving up you're talking about, I don't understand?". I struggled a little with .52 or .53 learning the survival mechanics but it was die, adapt, take longer to die, adapt and learn more, live a couple days and die of an infection, learn some more, then live until I choose to get reckless and do something stupid. Some of us want a brutally hard game that challenges and rewards for the challenge rather than a special Olympics simulator that rewards you for showing up.

    Tents and persistence. Again

And yes they have to word things like politicians and even if you do people these days are like little kids screaming "you promised!". I get it when you're making something as complex as a video game especially the way they're adding and replacing "modules" like they're doing with this one you "fix" one thing and "break" two unrelated things sometimes. I'd like to hear a little more word on the hows and whys of the persistence working on some servers and not on others so I can understand and either work around it or make other plans besides trying it. A big one that would have been a good announcement for transparency would be is it a holiday weekend there too? My customers have to wait 4 days to get me to do anything because of it, that I could understand.

    Tents and persistence. Again

It certainly doesn't help with good faith but it is a fairly adequate way to cover their asses if something doesn't work. I do it all the time wording stuff vaguely or saying "I believe" instead of "I know" etc. not that it makes it right but that's how the world works, especially business. logged in after seeing the pics of IReadTheAgreemnet's camp and almost immediately found a pristine civ tent. Not quite ready to try it with that so I whipped up an improvised courier bag plopped it down and will check tomorrow.

    Tents and persistence. Again

I hope server admins wouldn't be able to wipe camps with a restart. Abusive admins would be able to do too much damage with that. Wait? what? Forealz? That survived a restart and everything?

    Tents and persistence. Again

Uhmm, I think we click a big red I UNDERSTAND after the blurb about things may or may not work every time we play? I agree a little update on progress or at least "we're out for the long weekend see you Tuesday" would be nice though. I'm frustrated a hell with this situation because it was working for me on Wednesday and the some blurb about "sorry we had to reset persistence once" and then fucking up my whole four day weekend I'd left open to play around with the "new and improved working persistence". I'm geared and have enough food to stat doing squirrel runs from a camp to towns but no camp means no point.

    Tents and persistence. Again

Fix tent persistence and I'm good to go. I love .55 otherwise.
  17. BCBasher

    Tents and persistence. Again

Something wasn't right with .55 so the reset it onece and now they're not sticking on some or all servers. I only play on one and have lost 2 tents and 2 bags the first time and a bag I put down as a test last night.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

I started in December or January and have no experience with the mod. I did read the roadmap before I bought in and it was a little disappointing at first. I love the way .55 is going and it's shaping up to be the game I've been wanting since the '80s. I really hope the devs stick to their vision and don't cater to the casual crybabies who already have enough ADHD no attention span games because I've been down that road before.
  19. BCBasher

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

So where are all these "no lootz, FML" post coming from? If tents were working I'd be geared for weeks right now.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

I take it your not hanging out on the beach wondering where the beloved pink raincoats and broom fighting simulator went though?
  21. I'll say again guns work great if you're more than a few meters away, 1-2 9mm, 2-3 .380, 1-2 rifle rounds. My first encounter at close range I put 2 whole clips of 9mm and half a mag from and aks74u right through one before I figured out you need to backpedal.
  22. BCBasher

    Persistance?

But be warned they are disappearing on server resets on some servers or something to that effect. I'm not sure what the specifics are because I only play on one server but I've lost 2 tents and 3 backpacks and the gear they contained in the last 2 days.
  23. BCBasher

    Persistance?

First off it's not working right now. When it does the tent exist only on the server you pitched it on, hiding a backpack is an alternative as well. Stay tuned for when they fix it again.

.55 Just Few Questions If Anyone Knows.

Sewing kits seem to be rare right now, I brought some over from .54 but lost them in the tent wipe. Haven't seen any in the wild since.

    Who stopped the rain?

As an avid pumpkin farmer I noticed the lack of rain since Tuesday for sure.
