    Welding / Welder

Yeah, Cash's post reminded me about a trick I've seen used for racetrack emergency repairs. A decent vehicle alternator can provide enough power to stick weld either in the vehicle or one of these homebuit jobs. A vertical shaft lawnmower engine mated to a 90+ amp car alternator, this one has a nice aluminum frame but I've seen the made out of pieces of wood, door hinges and stuff you could scrounge in most garden sheds. It's also a somewhat useful 12v generator and could be coupled with an inverter if they're common in Chenarus

    Welding / Welder

Well as far as soft skills reality would actually work against how they've proposed any they've mentioned working. Better welds generally come from more time put into prep and the weld itself, my first real job was a welders helper and in most cases 95% of the job time wise was my part preparing the surface and fitting the parts. My boss loved that he could pay me $10 an hour and bill me out at $60-120 an hour because I could do anything but the welding. If it does end up in game this is one thing I'd prefer to see being "gamey" rather than a welding simulator within a survival simulator unless it turns into a simulated society where being good at one thing makes you worth not killing. I watch the boards daily pretty much and haven't seen anything new since the status report mentioning the generator but yes most generators could run run a hobby grade or light industrial welder and then there's all sizes of the ones I posted a picture of that are a generator that can weld or run anything that runs on 110 or 220v that you would find in your house. Back to my first job the boss had a special cord so he could throw the main breaker in his house isolating it from the city power grid during a power outage and backfeed power into an outlet in his garage with the truck mounted welder/genset and run his whole house.

I do :( There's something really satisfying for a flight sim enthusiast fighting to get a malfunctioning aircraft back on the ground without loss of life. Never played DayZ mod but I almost never bail in Arma with hopes of salvaging my bird, the rarity they're going to have in SA is going to make me really care about them like they were real and very rewarding personally to hold on to one.

    is .58 stable playable?

Not sure what your hardware is like but us guys on the low to below recommended hardware end are struggling with it, fun when it works though.

    Exp Update: 0.59 (+hotfix).

Did persistence get wiped with this, I can't get on and see but if the fixed vehicle spawns are still there Msta always had a truck and it's a short run for even a fresh spawn to check.

    is .58 stable playable?

Some servers are resetting it as far as I know but if you pick a reliable one you can hoard the overabundance of stuff until your hearts content with basically nothing but pvp to do with it. That being said they confirmed there will be a full public and private hive wipe when .59 drops as expected but the rate exp is going it might be awhile. If you don't have the problems some of us are having exp might be worth trying for you as there's already some new loot and more importantly infected to use it on.

    Welding / Welder

My dad is one of the most skilled and highly trained welders around but I personally don't have "the hand" as they call it so never perused anything beyond fitting, prep and helper. Now the welder you described is a wirefeed and yes they are very easy to use, I (or even my kids) can stick two pieces of steel together solidly with one it's not pretty but it works. In game I can see the mechanics being very hard to figure out where to draw lines with what can and can't be welded. In a real apocalypse welding would happen with the remaining gas and diesel fuel and machines in which time a resourceful person could/would use one to convert another to run on steam even.

Not to mention a 22 can pierce the 3/16" perspex windscreen while maintaining lethal velocity.

    Welding / Welder

Not that they don't make them but that's not what you think it is, that welder uses probably 220v to run an electric motor that turns a generator that produces lower voltage at higher amperage. Same idea but with a small diesel engine turning the generator. *edit* Electric welding machines aren't rare in rural setting, we have at least 3 and 2-3 gensets and I've been on lots of farms around here and the all have at least one.

Peruse this list and see how many helicopters were confirmed to be shot down by insurgents pulling cawadooty nonsense in Afghanistan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aviation_accidents_and_incidents_in_the_war_in_Afghanistan I used to work on equipment for and occasionally around helicopters and they're quite sensitive when it comes to foreign objects contacting the rotors and external sensors. Sure there's lots of places a bullet can pass right through the hull without doing anything but if you land a shot on critical areas it's going down. I've even heard of records of one crashing on their first flight after a paintjob because someone forgot to remove a piece masking tape from an external pressure sensor, what do you think a bullet would do to that sensor? Now that's real life but it'll all depend on how they handle the hit boxes in game, is it going to be one big lump with a ton of hit points or many boxes that affect systems and modules like the MS combat flight sim games. As far as an RPG specifically I don't think you shoot at it while it's in fast forward flight, you wait until it's either transitioning to/in hover, or just splash it while on or near the ground.

I think the vanilla game should have a hard(er) flight model personally and save the dumbed down version for the mods. Not everyone is expected to have a joystick but those people just shouldn't expect to fly easily, well or at all. Anyone who already has a joystick already probably has some hours flying sims and represents the people with previous experience that would have the possibility of acquiring and being able to utilize an abandoned aircraft in the context of the game. Older Sidewinder or Wingman joysticks can be found cheap anywhere like ebay, thriftsotres, garage sales I've never paid more than $25 for one using a $5 Wingman currently so really it's not a big investment to be expected of people who want to fly either.

    0.59 bug report

That's kind of pointing to my theory they changed the way information gets shared between clients and servers probably in the long term fight against desync. I'm passive/neutral and would flee trouble if at all possible so didn't feel to bad but my constant satellite lag always gave me an edge, now it seems like my client has to be accountable to the server and all other clients before it'll let me move. I would love confirmation of that change if that's the case.

It's slightly more pixels so it wouldn't but your render wouldn't be stretched anymore. Older/low end systems took a hit at least in populated coastal areas in.59 as far as I can tell.

Not according to the iZurvive app which seems pretty accurate. I haven't been using it much because I have the map pretty much memorized, Junior pointed out this week that the boats and player spawns are marked now.

Can someone get me an M4?

Never seen one spawned, been shot by 2, was offered one in trade for a truck just gave them the truck carried on on foot. In all honesty aside from a Gorka coat, an 8 slot vest if the hunting is no good or an occasional SKS, I don't spent a lot of time searching for military loot. My characters live long boring lives away from trouble as one would rationally do if they were trying to survive.

How do you quickly reload a 1 shot?

Hmm, last time I tried it it was just shoot the gun in hand and you got the reload icon for your mouse wheel click. I'm playing exp right now and not sure how the new system handles snap-loaders and magazines yet.

Can someone get me an M4?

Maybe try... a: Play for more than a few hours like those who enjoy a huge time sink open world survival game do. b: Cawadooty where you pick you kit at the the start. There's plenty of single serving, kill, die, repeat games already on the market why do you think every game should be instant gratification? This game is a nice change of pace being about the journey not the destination, in over 1000hr I still haven't found an m4 and I'm fine with that.

    0.59 bug report

No you need to set your pixel ratio to something that adds up to 16:9. 1280X720, 1360X768, 1920X1080 etc. preferably the native pixel ratio of the monitor or TV you're using. According to Google yours is a 1280X720px.

    Exp Update: 0.59 (+hotfix).

Ah, the boats are dynamic spawns like police cars and helicopters now and all the know locations are now marked on the map app I use on my phone. I've found lots of boats but they're usually one or two clothing items not the loot puke mess they've been in previous versions. I know they're useful for more than ghillie stuff, namely the awesome fish trap that can be repaired indefinitely with duct tape. I hear you about the .59 changes though, my old computer was holding up pretty well up until now.

Video is just a simple overclocked AMD Radeon HD 5450 Over clocked to : GPU Clock set 690 MHz Memory Clock set 683 MHz Correct me if I'm wrong but 1024X768px in 4:3 not 16:9?

    Exp Update: 0.59 (+hotfix).

Have you found netting in .59? Aside from a stroll around the map border I haven't really left the coast and all I've found was a few boonie hats and puffy jackets at the boats. I could find netting within a half hour of spawning always around the south east ponit in .58 exp.

    Exp Update: 0.59 (+hotfix).

So we had a storm here last night and our internet went for a real shit but Junior and I decided to play a bit anyway and both ended up dead because of it. We hopped a few servers until we go one that didn't kick us one after the other every minute and the little bit we could stay together it was about usual a few seconds of desync between us but playable for the way we play coop with each other. I had a been disconnect and junior made it to Kami before me, when I caught up with him at the police station all was good for a minute and then our games both went slideshow and we started getting a bad feeling. He saw someone enter the town from the west heading straight for us I was trapped glitching around inside and he was outside doing the same trying to make verbal contact but I don't think the guy could hear us after a bit the guy got fed up and started shooting at Junior and we couldn't do jack about it. He knocked junior unconscious and as I tried to peek him out the door with my red9 I had finally got raised he glitched all over the place and my aim was doing the same I flinched off 2 shots and got killed too. Before we wouldn't have been able to shoot effectively but could have just been able to zig zag away and hid when the shooting started but it seemed like when this guy entered our bubble we were just stuck in a cycle of freezing and rubberbanding. This isn't a complaint because I'm aware of our substandard internet, I'm just curious did the change the way discrepancies are handled between clients and server?

How do you quickly reload a 1 shot?

Haven't tried it in stable but as recently as .58 exp if you carried 2 (or more) loaded break action guns of the same type the one in your pack would act as a snap loader for the one in hand. I even carried 4 longhorns hunting for a bit in .58 exp. I think he was making a joke about that?

    Exp Update: 0.59 (+hotfix).

That's reflecting my observations, I'm playing on an older computer and dodgy satellite internet and my frames are as good or better when no AI or other players are around but they take a dive in coastal cities and on high pop servers. Not sure if it's just me but the game used to seem like it was favoring what I was seeing client side as in if I was lagging internet wise the guy shooting at me was at a disadvantage, now when the wife or kids fire up netflix or whatever my game bogs as well. The memory leak mentioned is real too, restarting your game/computer every few hours seems to help.

    Flippy floppies

Q and E keys last I heard, I'm sure some will struggle with that though.
