The suppressor is spawned at any tier2 or higher military site or event, just super rare and counted in storage. <type name="M4_Suppressor"> <nominal>5</nominal> <lifetime>7200</lifetime> <restock>14400</restock> <min>2</min> <quantmin>-1</quantmin> <quantmax>-1</quantmax> <cost>100</cost> <flags count_in_cargo="1" count_in_hoarder="1" count_in_map="1" count_in_player="0" crafted="0" deloot="0"/> <category name="weapons"/> <tag name="shelves"/> <usage name="Military"/> <value name="Tier2"/> <value name="Tier3"/> <value name="Tier4"/>

No the 1 is correct you just don't like it, the game I was sold is supposed to have about ten each M4, AKM, SVD, per map because the military bugged out and usually take as much of that stuff as possible specifically to avoid civilians running around with them in a disaster, sometimes a few get forgotten but generally they're taken home or destroyed in the field if it's not practical to move them. What players chose to do with rare items of limited quantity is the emergent gameplay that (is supposed to) makes DayZ different from other games. You acknowledged in your OP that you can get them by killing another player with one, not my cup of tea but if you want one play the game instead of bitching on here? Duping is BS don't get me wrong but dedicated hoarders and organised player groups will still get them all, kind of how you "win" at an open ended survival game like this. PvP players who like this map and that type of play will get that with mods eventually as simply as a server owner changing a 1 to a 0 but for now it would be nice if BI finishes turning a shooter game (the original concept) into a difficult survival game before we worry about turning it back into a shooter game?

This is all fine and good but some of us paid in advance for a PC game we wanted. My fear is that in running a business to make money the game I bought won't be produced, it will be modified to get second more profitable market and it's original finical supporters won't get what they paid for, in advance, in good faith. Elder Scrolls Online did exactly that "No, this game is going to be different", "No micro transactions ever", "meaningful progression based on time put in" this was repeated for a year and one morning "Oh, we're making he game buy to play, with micro transactions, and we're going to make it so guys who play 2 hrs a month can compete in PvP with guys who play 50hrs a week because... that's fair." after us pre-order/beta customers had paid $500 each for box sets and sub fees year one to not receive the product they were advertised but get something someone else who cam in later wanted. I'm personally getting toxic just from seeming the "I can't find an M4, the game must be broken" argument come up and not get put down like it was two years ago, gritty survival is the game I paid for not everyone running around with automatic weapons as easily as possible because they're used to playing shooters.

But "they" are the only ones who post consistently now, toxic people or environmental byproduct?

So eventually I want to build a server to put at my wife's house on her fibreoptic internet so it's join able on the internet as an alternate to Skype to chat with my kids and play a game they all liked playing with me. I own two client copies of the game and see I can run and join my LAN server without steam running meaning I could do two clients and a server in my house, can I or will I be able to have an internet join-able server without a third licence for the server alone? I'm going to be pissed at this point if I have to buy a third copy just for a server at full price. I can't test this in house right now because I have cellular internet and no fixed IP address, got a good guy at my ISP's tech support who knew what I was trying to do and told me why I can't.

I'm getting the impression that they have capabilities we don't get to see because they're generally bogged down because the engine can't handle them in large numbers or other ways the system is tied together. I'm dialling their numbers back right now to see if I can get a few smart ones instead of a bunch of dumb unresponsive one.

Was doing my thing cruising and cleansing the landscape of infected yesterday, I've see the complaints about the truck and it being gutless and having traction issues and I agree. I will say that I was getting brave on the open roads yesterday had a few panic stops locking up the brakes and the behaviour in a skid seems really good and realistic actually right down to weight transfer from wheel to wheel from bumps in the road jerking the car as it slides and loosing steering while the wheels are locked up. This here was totally my fault over correcting at 70kmh out of a hairpin and not being able to catch my fishtail, had the whole time slow down in my head thing knowing where it was going and it was great. I know this is probably old news but the prone stances are pretty damn cool too, 7.62X54R knocks them down one shot like bowling pins and the lighted reticule PSO1 looks mint. I was super immersed with this in 1pp.

This isn't your first project, you have an idea. I've been modding games since Doom and that kind of map work still looks daunting to me. Aside from the legalities already pointed out, think baby steps or all your going to make is a headache for yourself.

Not going to join but that video was fantastic.

I've told you why and showed you the code, how is that so hard to understand? Dupers or not they will get hoarded to the point of not spawning if the CLE is working properly. People hoarding is legitimate emergent game-play, an apocalyptic situation doesn't not owe you an automatic weapon. I don't dupe but I totally used to hide all guns I found when i played public, if you don't have them you can't shoot me with them, survival means not dieing, not necessarily killing?

I believe that's how it works but I'm running into some confusion with what exactly "in cargo" is I'm running a server and messing with files, I did something that I thought should have stopped M4s from spawning. I tried to make the ADA 4X4 spawn at all vehicle spawn points with and M4 in cargo, I don't seem to have 300+ but should be well over the threshold although I've only interacted with about 5 and still seen them spawn at a helicrash.

I still want to know why the backups are half hour increments, is that long necessary? The whole set of 12 is under 50mb meaning one set isn't very big at all, they appear to be a snap shot of some of the files in the main binaries that have enough information to generate 2 more files for each that the game runs off of. 50mb divided by 12 isn't a whole lot of information per set to handle. Is this system capable of 5 minute intervals? Why twelve sets, why not 2 a back up and a second backup in case the first back up fails too?

Like it won't refresh if you do a filtered or unfiltered search then add or change filters? Yes. I'm having that on my last version EXP, the one that is now stable when I was trying to get my server online and internet join-able, fucking rolling IP cell internet means that's not happening. :(

I like the helmet discussion, the 7.62X39mm cartridge was originally designed with a requirement of penetrating a steel helmet at 1000m in volley fire . I coincidentally was looking for a movie to watch yesterday and found a folder of random videos I shot, I have a clip of my SKS punching holes in 3/8" steel plate at 50m with Russian surplus steel cores which seem to be pictured in the icon for loose bullets, oddly the box ingame looks lead hunting bullets. I'm not sure if the ingame SKS clone has a floating firing pin like the original, the originals can spontaneously go full auto if you don't put a sprung firing pin kit in them for hunting ammo because of the difference between hard military primers and the softer ones in hunting bullet. Hockey and motorcycle helmets are a thin skin of plastic of fibreglass over styrofoam and will not even stop a .22 or buckshot pellet at 50-100m. .22 and 5.56mm can pierce a skull and brain without killing in certain cases the 5.56mm mil ammo especially is meant to make a clean through and through wound injuring but not necessarily killing because it actually can take two or three guy out of the fight wounding someone as opposed to killing one guy in one shot. You see you comrade crying "fuck I got shot!!" and human nature is to help him, if he's clearly dead you keep fighting for your life. that being said surviving a piece of your skill missing in the long term without modern medicine is pretty unlikely. .30cal like the 7.62X39mm and 7.62X51mm start to tumble as soon as the enter something soft and start tearing up flesh and brains. Not sure what vests are doing these day I'm curious about the common misconception that things like the plate carrier are bullet proof, they are proofed against hand gun bullets but most rifles at common engagement range will still penetrate.

If your're in the loop can you assure me when were getting a helicopter? Glad your crew are happy with half the mechanics we were told about 5 years ago half working though.

Hanging out at Tisy trying the infected damage, so I just climb on the roof of my truck before I start shooting because, what are they going to do about it? This guy got stuck mid jump or whatever was not colidable and couldn't attack, he did wake up when i jumped down to pull his two buddies that clipped right into the truck away. When I pulled the glitch zombies I had to back up to shoot a few time, the rifles I get but not being able to shoot point blank when they're touching you. Unless these guys are Chuck Norris grade martial artist which they aren't in their infected state they aren't going to have the presence of mind to steer the muzzle away, they would just get easier to shoot with the a pistol the closer they got. Had a weird inventory glitch, rags were stacking with AKM mags, could repeat that a few times before I got bored, I sorted ammo and mags for ten minutes and was getting inaccessible slots as well. I think the car roof thing is pretty cool if it the infected didn't glitch, I'd use my handyman skills to put a barbed wire fence around the roof line and put a hatch in the roof for a portable guard tower type arrangement.

Not sure where console is at but it used to up your caloric burn being cold and you'd be dead in a half hour or less if you didn't deal with it. There was versions where you be terrified of getting caught in the open unprepared and get more exited about matches and a raincoat than finding a top tier gun and bullets.

Some of us PC players paid for multiple copies 4-5 years ago and still haven't got what we paid for, how about you console players have some patience now? A good thousand of my post were telling people to be patient and wait for it because BI does good work, having a hard time feeling that four years later.

Maybe give us the option to adjust the amount of backups and interval in sevrverDZ.cfg no idea why we need six hours every half an hour and 12 restore points? Every five minutes with one spare as in ten minutes lost worst case even if the most recent backup corrupts too? No idea what kind of server load the backup process cause but I cant see i t being much.

I'll try when I get a minute, last time I did it was a really small "sweet spot" to get the prompt in one on a steeper hill? Can confirm the headshots are one hitter quitter on AI .45 and 5.56mm on infected, 11 5.56mm to the shoulder on one though, was dropping runners in two M4 shots but couldn't tell if I was getting a headshot or no there.. Server performance up about 100fps compared to last night at logout with and without client connected.

I haven't got to play but had my server warming up for an hour or so and now I have to go shovel snow before I can log in. Seeing lots and lots of "item [XX] is hard to place, performance drops" in the RPT compared to earlier this week, all items industrial spawn items and car parts. Those events were causing a stutter in my client previously. Server FPS is as good or better than last night with no clients connected but I have the tic rate at 2 minutes so that's nowhere close to real time..

Putting resources into the port feels like a bit of an insult to the PC customers who still haven't got the product we payed for in good faith 4-5 years ago though? Seems more like a another golden goose to strangle from where I sit?

Those are some great guys but that's on PC, someone should start a console "chapter".

anything I should know about what happening to servers?
BCBasher replied to SamZ4OO's topic in New Player Discussion
This and if you have anyone else in your house doing netflix or youtube etc. I've got cell or satellite internet here and it was brutal staying connected on the original cell modem, we complained and they upgraded our 10 year old modem and it was night and day better. -
As far as that goes there is only supposed to be about 10 each M4 and AKMs on the ground or in storage (vehicles don't seem to count, I know console doesn't have them I'm testing that on PC) per map before they stop spawning disregarding ones in player's hands, they were supposed to be very rare. Whether development caves to pew-pewers is yet to be seen.
