Thought the texture thing was just my sub-par computer. Glad there was no wipe, found a scoped M70 last night before I logged out. Super excited about slaying some cows or elk tonight!

So I flash banged an infected for science today and got some interesting unexpected results. I looked around first and saw my target less than fifty feet away and one other infected a few hundred feet down the road. I landed the grenade right at my target's feet and got no noticeable reaction. As I doubled back and made my way into the town from the side there was six to eight infected slowly shuffling towards where I'd thrown the grenade. Some of them could have been hidden but I'm pretty sure more spawned after I'd used a weapon. I've been doing a lot of sneak, stop, look as a freshie and the also seem to sense you within a hundreds feet or so even if they don't agro, they'll slowly wander towards you until they get los if you stay still too close.

Sorry but 22 cal long rifle as depicted in the description in game (not sure about an open bolt blowback like the sportsterl) standard 9mm rounds, and I believe 357 fired from a closed bolt like the repeater are in fact supersonic. *edit* just googled it and standard 380 acp is also super sonic, standard 45 acp is subsonic though. As far as it goes even sub sonic shots do make a kind of woosh sound if they pass close to your head, bee shot at numerous time with pellet guns and a shotgun once.

Might just be luck but I'm seeing and hearing more wildlife than I have in awhile, chased around a herd of 15 cows today unfortunately a full scorpion and single loading an mp-5 just netted me frustration instead of steaks. Had a nice quick encounter at a police station this morning, met another armed player who also wasn't "looking for trouble". I excused myself and most likely drew away the infected from the doors so he could loot in peace. Some lone wolfing at it's finest if you ask me. I'm not sure if it is or will ever be a concern but I'd love it if when you use your hotbar to put something away it would block you from dropping it if your pack re-arranged itself making no room for it. Dropped a full red 9 my favorite sidearm because my hatchet likes to be in the dumbest spot possible in my bag.

If you ask me It's more like what I consider the "good ole days" instead of just run to the best gun place simulator. I've been playing solo and finding it a challenge again, I've played a about 20 hours so far and died once to a player , twice to infected, and about a dozen times making poor or rushed survival choices. I'm having a lot more fun just trying to live than I was rushing certain spots to get my preferred gear in an hour and a half. So they added the new sounds, I'm loving that I can approximate range of gunfire and the 1pp breathing being a more reasonable level. Are the elk calls a part of that some guys told me about it and then I heard it a short time later, I could tell if I was getting closer or farther but was in no shape to track them down or do anything about it if I found them. Not sure if it's just me but if i throw a barrel it despawns immediately, I'm a little cheesed about that as i'd got used to bouncing them off a tree to get them to lay down and not look as much like a barrel.

So I played a few hours this weekend on the kids account and died more times than I have in my last thousand hours due to the elements no less, loving it. I could live without the constant "session lost" but otherwise this is getting back to what I paid for again. My desktop is retired to a net terminal because I couldn't get the vid card to recognize so I'm playing on an old HP laptop with a very bare install of 7 and the performance is acceptable and seems to get better as the game continues to look better so that's nice. I've been just yoloing around without a map and I see there's some map changes I haven't heard about so it's a refreshing journey of discovery, like I've visited Chenarus years ago and came back for a visit just in time for the apocalypse, I get lost for a bit then see something I recognize. I can confirm I heard wolves last night but was in no shape to investigate or attempt to head towards the very random gunfire between my position and where I figured the howls were coming from. Found an infected on Skalatisy as well and he scared the shit out of me, though it was a player running in for the say nothing head punch. Their path-finding and movement seems to be improved a bit a lot less jerky than I'm used to.

Ha, I remember how much fun that was but don't recall them saying they wouldn't do it again though. I'm patiently, quietly really looking forward to this one.
-
Thanks for clearing that up even though you mention yourself that you're assuming what's happening. Last I read from the devs was the vehicles during their movement during restart was causing them to drift into the map and get destroyed/cleaned up but I'll take your word for it. I'm one of the players who lost interest in the last two patches because the vehicles are fucked, the effort it takes a solo player to fix one is great but the disappointment that comes with it makes me go play something else.

Well between that, broken temperature and infected being a non issue I don't really have anything that fit's my playstyle to do right now. Might log in to shoot a chicken with my second m4 ever (after almost 1300hrs I found both in .6) but other than that I think it's break time until .61. On the topic of temperature did they disable it or is it case by case, my guy has been stuck at 35c but showing cooling/warming messages and no consequences from being so cold?

With a the keyboard? I bought an Xbox 360 controller I want to try if I can get in enough time to get a car running and see if it's any better having proportional steering, anyone tried a controller? I haven't driven more than 1km in .60 but when .59 went stable and the new vehicles first came out I wrecked an off road just outside Tulga all my fault but had a better run in a sedan when a slight correction on the coast highway at 60kmh put me in a spin like I pulled the hand brake at 150kmh.

Played a few hours last night same server sprinting everywhere and according to my thermometer I'm still at 35c but no sign of being cold. All my other statuses are updating normally again though.
-
I had a good three plus hour run on the HH server on Monday with my thermometer and my temp was stuck at 35c the whole time, I got "warming/cooling" messages but no change in the number. Last time I was down to 35.2c it was giving me cold and shaking statuses but this time nothing as far as being too hot or cold. My goal was to get my stats bright green with a full stomach then swim the south coast to the heli spawn so I could lurk it while rehydrating/energizing for the swim back to get an m65 and or vest. I couldn't get out of my stuffed status even swimming 3/4 of the south coast landing a few times to take off my boots and scurry around. **edit** I got kicked multiple times so I doubt it was something that relogging would fix.
-
I'm packing a thermometer right now and in a 3 hour session on Friday I think i went from hot to cold shaking and back a few time but it was only a 2 degree Celsius difference between the two statuses, that in itself seems a little extreme to me. I was doing other stuff so not timing things accurately just making observations for the most part but I did with a hot status tread water in a pond for a timed 20 minutes while eating IRL and that was how long it took me to swing back to cold.

Holy double post. What the hell is wrong with the message boards now?

If you've seen the Zeus demo mission in ArmA 3 and the talk of integrating their sound system it's not so far fetched that lightning strikes could go along with the visual we already have. I used to fly RC planes full contact combat any weather day or night with a friend and I remember some good laughs one day very intoxicated waving my four foot telescoping antenna at the clouds during a thunder storm screaming taunts and expletives encouraging the higher power to prove I'm not a "highlander" trying to break the other guys concentration so I could move in for a hit. My buddy hid between two light poles like a bitch.

Had a bit of a crappy week a couple weeks ago, woke up to a dead back light on one of my matched monitors, went to work and came home to have my computer start freezing every five minutes due to dead caps. I found a compatible mother board on a local "used" site, did a fresh install of windows and left it alone for three days to do windows updates. I did all my hardware drivers and when I got to my vid card nothing is working, this is the third time I've done a clean install with this card a Zotac 650ti and the last two times I just installed the Nvidia driver package and it worked fine. This time I've uninstalled, reinstalled tried older versions, completely shutting down and waiting instead of just restarting when prompted and nothing is working. I'm getting into windows with the card but it's showing an error 43 in device manager and obviously will not start any games. Anyone have any tips that aren't in the first ten pages of a google search for "zotac gtx650ti error 43 windows 7"?

Splendid, anyone else seen a medical thermometer? If it's super rare I'll go out of my way to stay alive with it or hand it off to someone or a group if it could get more use, not sure but I think it's on 3pp public.
-
Did stable get a wipe because of the hotfix? I found the first medical thermometer I've seen in forever on stable then jumped back to exp but only got a few hours on the hotfix. I would love to do some testing with that if I still have it. I've got to go be safety guy so my old dad can cut down some trees this morning, should have some time for a good session this afternoon and evening.

Character Bug/Stuck - Reset my char pls
BCBasher replied to Dovak_PT's topic in New Player Discussion
Jogging up against an outside wall and disconnecting your internet used to work, in the case of rocks with angled sides crouching or laying prone as close as you can to the outside edge and relogging works sometimes too. -
I'm wondering how things like dynamic infected spawning and predators are going to affect this whole system they're trying to create, what they've done so far hasn't forced me to do anything with my passive avoidance playstyle. Over all though I'm not finding it rewarding to have taken the time to learn how to get by with just a garden tool, stone knife, pack of seeds, and a tincture bottle when I can find enough canned goods in random sheds and houses in the woods that I happen upon. I might stop by the abandoned military base for some gorka clothes with their water proof 6 pockets but it's not forcing me to go anywhere. In the end I'll probably play this more on my own server with just my kids but I think the game would be so much cooler on the real servers if survival skills were worth more to a newer player than punching me out for my trumpet to pew pew their way to NWAF for the PvP circle jerk that goes on there.

I live on the humid pacific northwest coast and can 100% agree with that, there's nearby town called Port Alberni that is always foggy in the morning and you don't know if its going to break until 1100 pretty much all year. You go over the mountain pass before you drive down into the inlet the towns built on and it's a clear sunny 25 Celsius summer day, get down town and it's under 10, you cant see past thirty feet, and feels and looks like October/November some days.

The two ancient computers I've played .6 on hardly even budge in the rain and have a huge improvement over .59. The only thing I noticed was the 9 year old desktop would have a very slight drop (5fps or so) but the 5 year old mid level HP laptop is completely unchanged in a downpour, not sure what was different because desktop decided to die.

My understanding is that if you remove objects from one spot the next item that replaces it spawns somewhere else. I've never seen an official statement on how exactly it works (doubt we will) but it's possible the way I read the explanations that picking up a military item could cause a civilian item to spawn elsewhere and vice versa. The clothes that just don't get picked up as much and should be just getting replaced in place with a similar item by their lifecycle timer.
-
From the status report I'm guessing these things?

Playing on my kids account, still holding everything he's had since mid .6 and still stuck in a rock.
