Okay, this just popped into my head do you recall an official statement to the effect of AI being able to "smell" you? I grew up in the woods and most wildlife relies on all it's senses not just "seeing to believe it" I can hear varying wind now it seems is the direction still fixed? Wolves also have way better hearing than your average humans so it would stand to reason that if there's other ways for the AI to be aware of you wolves should hear you from a lot farther than another player or infected.

I've been messing with that with the infected, led one to a deer stand yesterday climbed it and stood long enough for him to get to the bottom of the ladder then crouched. It almost immediately lost interest and started wandering. I had another one the other day that I hadn't noticed while I was sneaking around turned and saw it un-aware about ten feet away but it too one more step toward me and was like "Oh there you are!" and went full agro. I was too excited about my first wolf encounter to really try anything other than "testing" their health pool with my axe and m70 and absolutely shocked how many hits my axe took to kill them, easily 2-3 times as many hits as an infected. I'm heading back to the country this afternoon for a lazy night by myself, my character can hold his own now against environmental concerns and is free to test things. I'm debating a diagonal N/W run inland or south down the east coast and a swim to see if they're spawning on Skalatisy. Has anyone got any theories on how the wolves spawn? Are they always there or do they spawn out of sight and move towards you fully or partially aware of you? I'm almost 100% sure the infected now have a partially aware or "suspect" states.

1st person perspective only (Message to devs)

TL:DR 3pp is for casual trash, haha ha ha ha haha. Seriously though I play in 1pp no mater what server I'm on you can even set it to default in your setting. What happened to Deathlove she'd get so wound up about these threads like the suggestion 1pp was better caused her physical pain? -
I just finished jogging the border of debug from Tisy to Svetlo and was getting "hot" status at 37.09 degrees so I laid down under a bush and watched the dock through my scope for about 15 minutes. The status went away but my temp hasn't dropped, even though I'm energized and hydrated and healing my health stopped going up at 4883 too.

I notice day or night something changed with the draw distance when there's no fog it looks like I can see the ocean off in the distance. I haven't played in months and am resisting using a map app to make the map changes I missed more fun but the illusion has been disorienting me quite often.

Pushing traffic to castles and Northern Highway

I personally don't mind having a few nice places to just because there's nothing going on but that's just me I have legitimate 1500+ hours between my two accounts but video games are my only hobby, I get enough outside and exercise at work.and can't focus on passive entertainment like TV so I play in the living room so I can interact with my family and watch TV out of the corner of my eye or when my kids play with me they play on the TV so I can see their screen and guide them along. I only sleep maybe six hours a day so I can put in hours gaming like a second job. -
character and persictence wiped when 0.61 is out?
BCBasher replied to freddyeddy's topic in New Player Discussion
From my experience exp doesn't always get a character wipe with every small change but usually a persistence wipe. Stable always gets a full wipe with a full version change and usually a persistence wipe if there's a hotfix required. -
I really don't care in the big picture. I bought Dayz to mod and play on a home server with my kids or solo in the end anyway. When I first started playing it was actually really bad in my favor PVP wise, as long as I kept moving I was never where the good ping player was seeing me and basically un-shootable to the point of people thinking I was hacking. There was another where I'd freeze in place when we got near another player being very shootable but could PVE fine if I was out of others network bubble.
-
Yep, I'm lucky if I can get under 300 ping at my weekday home. Cant circle strafe em like I used to but backpeddling works for the most part.

Pretty much, thought the pic was funny as I just saw a pair of those shoes in game. On that note those sneakers should make you fall on your ass trying to traverse slopes on wet grass in game like the real thing.
-
Well a rolling stone like me doesn't need a damn rug or wall hanging. Now this though... I'd just walk down the beach like "come at me bro".
-
So is just me or can you NOT tan wolf pelts?
-
How about when pigs and boars come back, we have pork, a meat hammer, cereal, frying pans, and chickens just need eggs and I could whip up some schnitzel.

Their movement and pathfinding indoors was a little jankey but otherwise totally the kind of spice a PVE player like myself needs to get back into this great game. I was totally immersed for a good 10 minutes dealing with them and worrying some asshole would notice the commotion and KOS me. In unrelated news found a pair of hightop converse sneakers in a summer camp along with what appears to be a new flashlight model, how long have those been in?

Woohoo, Killed a pile of dogs today! Was just coming up on a red split level in the middle of nowhere when I heard howls, close. I ran in through the carport door and shut it behind me rushed through the living room to shut the front door and one got in so I locked him in with me and got to work with my axe. I took a bite or two but it ended off worse for him than me, bandaged up and butchered it. Let another in and did the same at which point my pack was full of steaks and two pelts. They ruined my matches, some 9mm bullets, and damaged my 15 loose 308 rounds but whatever, don't care, killed wolves. I shot a third out the window and the fourth fled, I actually thought meleeing them one at a time inside was pretty easy but can imagine on open ground four would have been challenging. I was hunting anyway so I already have my fertilizer, off to find a barrel now.

Yep grid coordinates are typically x=left/right y=up\down in two dimensions like looking at a map north up, z would be the third dimension depth/elevation. Way to stick it to math BI.

Fair enough, I think they're going to stay pretty gamey with tge fire mechanic though. I also agree with how dumb it looks on paper, I live somewhere mild and humid like Chenarus and good luck stating a fire without accelerants, dry kindling or moss, or what we call nookie wood the petrified sap veins you find in rotten evergeen stumps and logs.

You're supposed post to the tracker, not sure about the new one but the old one was like a poke in the eye with a sharp stick and put me off. It should be available in game and I will continue to just post my random observations here.

Not long, I've been struggling re-learning how to not die from from the environment. I've got my routine back together now though and will chuck one do something else and come back next chance I get. Still disappointed I can't throw them at a tree and get them to lay on their side anymore.
-
I've been picking up and throwing most that I come across and they go poof as soon as they leave my hands, I've been doing it right out side the shed I find them in and when I turn around they have not returned.

Interesting, The infected that i hit also stopped dead in his tracks at the spot where it went off yet the surrounding ones seemed to slowly migrate towards it for a bit before they went back to their unaware wander behavior. Between that and them seemingly migrating towards me hidden but close I think they're showing some clear signs of different awareness levels. I believe it was mentioned some time ago that they were planned to be able simulate "smelling" you or some sort of in between awareness state, very nice!
-
It would be beyond me doing solo but maybe your group could try hitting an infected with multiple ones to see if you can kill it. I got absolutely no reaction with one but I can't say it didn't take damage.
-
I can verify this, wasn't paying attention because I was preparing to run if it agrod the infected I threw it at. Now that I think about it though it was a thud sound but I was too far away to get flashed or ears ringing. Do they still damage pants and shoes if you get them close enough?
-
Respek brother, I chose not to pull the trigger on a guy in my crosshairs yet again last night even though 90% of the player base wouldn't do the same. In my 1500 or so hours I've killed less than a dozen other player all in self defense, because that's my story.

Axe rarity would be irrelevant to fire making difficulty, a stone knife knife is all you need to get sufficient fire making supplies from a larger tree, get two bark, get a branch, split branch into thirds, make a hand drill and campfire, add remaining stick as attachment to the fire, cut and split more branches. If I'm planning on farming I don't carry an axe I carry two stone knives, one pristine one for cutting up pumpkins and animals , another (usually my first one from the beach) for cutting wood, rags, and opening cans. In my experience so far burlap is plentiful also once you get away from the coast a little bit, was stripping down my bag for a run through NWAF the other day and was shocked that I had 5 burlap sacks that I guess I grabbed just because they were there. I'm with you on the hypothermia, I had my solo cockroach playstyle so dialed in with the mild temp in .60 that I only died from glitches or breaking my own rules for shits a grins. A survival game should punish you for being impatient and now that's back! I only logged in for a few minutes last night, couldn't get into it for whatever reason. In that few minutes I logged into mooing outside the barn I was in and was pretty stoked, I snuck out and peeked around the fence to see anther player sprinting crouched across the field. I don't think he noticed me but pretty sure he spooked the damn cows watched him go over the crest of a hill and then hightailed it in the opposite direction found some apple trees and got my stats back to neutral from my mad dash from the coast the day before and logged out.
