Refurbed a laptop for the kids, random black screen crashes.
BCBasher replied to BCBasher's topic in Troubleshooting
I was that kid who took my new Christmas toys apart within hours of getting them, eventually my parents started just giving me a set of jewelers screwdrivers in my stocking to make it easier. By 12 I could put stuff back together consistently, in my early 20s I helped my self to an over run that my new local computer recycling program couldn't securely store and took apart and reassembled a bunch of various generations of PCs. Taking it apart for dusting and possibly modifying the bodywork to improve cooling isn't the least bit daunting to me. I was mostly wondering if anyone new specifically about any driver tricks with these damn HPs which see to have some proprietary stuff as far as that goes. My wife's is a Win8 HP that we bought on sale for the hardware and immediately wiped back to a Win7 that doesn't know it's an HP anymore and some drivers were a chore on that one but it works great now. I'm still a little baffled by the charging icon, will the worn out battery only take 77% or are there drivers required for the charging circuit on the motherboard or something? -

Haven't got around to checking yet but chances are it'll be stationary and hooked to an HD TV or bigger monitor so I'll rig up a box underneath it with some desktop 12v or 110v muffin fans to get some decent airflow and even strip some of the plastic off it if I have to. That was the one thing junior noticed is "this thing's getting real hot", that and it started doing it more frequently as we kept trying so I think that might be the problem. -
That's kind of ironic how that works though you can identify the type meat even though it's butchered by an armature easily, yet you can drink a canteen full of diesel without immediately noticing it smells funny, has an oily texture, and tastes like burning.

No, it's stays frozen and need a restart. Thinking it might be this, came from a house with 2 cats and 3 dogs so maybe a good dusting and double checking the video drivers are up to date might be in order. Set the power options to high performance while plugged in, was planning on keeping it plugged in. I'll have to try it myself and see if I notice anything out of the ordinary, just the results from a quick test last night to see if it would even play DayZ. -
Well put, my kids and I play as passively as possible but far prefer the term neutral over friendly. Stranger: Are you friendly? Me: That depends on you? By the way there's two of us. Then ideally we tell them where we've been, what we've seen that's interesting, and where were heading (usually a half truth to see if they follow) and life goes on.

I wouldn't mind a bit more diversity for your "default" spawned character but if dynamic how do you simulate different metabolisms? IRL I'm lucky I guess I have terrible eating habits and I'm lazy as fuck yet aside from gaining 5 lbs when I quit smoking I still have the same body as when I was 17-18. Even if the mechanics for the appetite, metabolism, size, and such were adjustable people wouldn't pick for diversity they'd pic the ones that gave them an edge in game therefore all picking the same anyway.

You missed the good part, lol. On topic I think inflatable "party dolls" would be a great addition for distractions and company for us lone wolfs.

In stable yes they spawn with a full tank for now, when .58 comes out they require a battery and a glow plug. Both versions they get repaired, refueled and damaged tires replaced at a server reset provided they're not completely destroyed at which point they despawn but that's currently difficult to do on both versions without having explosives or exploding aerosols in fires. .59 is supposed to introduce yet to be revealed but more complex parts and repair mechanics along with a bus, four door car, and a little sport utility.

I'm not a computer expert, just my experience with Nvidia video cards.
-
I only eat simulated fruit and vegetable flavors in real life.
-
Your avatar looks like a blow up fuck doll wearing a balaclava, is that the prototype?
-
Yeah, I play a multiplayer game just to avoid people like RL so gardening is kinda my thing.
-
Thought it just sped up the process? In .58 with a barrel you can make a commercial bag of lime out of plant material and fish guts through some 55gal sorcery.
-
First off there is supposed to be an increase in wildlife come .59 but it still shouldn't be a 100% thing you're going to get something if you look. If you want to live in the woods it should and is possible but don't expect to do it off one food source. Throw in seeds and a garden tool, some netting and wire, and a gun, bow, or crossbow at it though and it's almost too easy.

Happy to introduce someone to DayZ horticulture, enjoy the freedom it provides.

Got to look right at each individual plant and it's a relatively small "sweet spot".

I have terrible internet and always play on very low pop server but have still under the same circumstances noticed a big improvement at least solo. My oldest son is back from camp so I'm looking forward to seening it from the second POV as soon as possible, tried early in .58 with my daughter as a passenger and from her POV I crashed multiple times yet it was a smooth uneventful ride on my end.

And why penalize me because I do?

Not sure how it works either but been noting little details. Ones I stash and park neatly are always moved a little, ones I've abandoned between restarts because of tires and gas tank punctures have been rotated 180 degrees sometimes. It looks like they spawn a brand new truck in the same colour with rough positional data and the pre reset truck's inventory. We have a few truck hoarders in the experimental discussion who have seen it all and may know something I don't. As far as a truck despawning they used to need to be completely destroyed, they change to a rusty burnt out texture but I have yet to see that since aerosols in fires stopped exploding although I have seen reports in EXP of them despawning due to damage. Land mines ruin all tires but do not destroy the truck currently, it'll have new tires and be good to go after a reset.

If you have a Nvidia card and an older or low end cpu there's a process call nvxdsnc or something like that bogs your processor. As far as I know it's the syncing for the shield tablet, you have to open task manager, in the process tab show processes from all users, then right click and end task. It stays off until you reboot again, you may have trouble if your user is not and administrator.

I'm concerned about this too, got fucked royally in my last game because the casuals cried that they don't have as much time to play. I play one game at a time and put in the hours it's not my problem that others like doing IRL stuff and have different priorities, I don't and shouldn't be punished. I don't go play competitive sports and expect to have people who train for it to be handicapped because of my dislike for physical activity.
-
Now what they said though about them migrating and making stops at water one should be able to make educated guesses on where game should be. The idea of go to this town for this particular animal like the Berizino cow I've killed three times after resets in one day on a long play session on stable is just dumb.
-
Me too, its called hunting not shopping.
-
Prepare to be even more confused when .58 goes stable, I gave up looking and started finding them at random looking for heli crashes. They wander and get spooked all over the map instead of just wandering in a radius where they spawned.

DayZ mod? never heard of her?
