I think a raincoat and any head gear is sufficient, helmets make you look hostile, I dried out sprinting in the rain after a short swim in a raincoat and cowboy hat.

Not sure, I believe the filter is for 3pp so you toggle it to a red x to not show 3pp.

I think I'm on the AUS 1pp now just outside SInistok, I'm not sure if I'm going to see the TIsy base or head east looking for more wolves to see if they eat hats,

Characters weren't always saving after server crashes in earlier versions it's supposed to be getting better, I haven't had more than a few minute rollback personally. My current character never shows in the menu until I've been in game and come back out.

Thanks but I was testing a theory that they couldn't hit or hit properly if your stance was lower than standing, they can. I'm still a little confused about how they spawn and acquire a target but both time the howls started off barely audible, I didn't move more than a few feet from first hearing them and they came right to me. As far as I'm concerned they're a little too bullet resistant, I've shot them with 9mm, 308 and 7.62X39mm and the 9 didn't even phase them and the 30 cal rifles took two shots even straight though their trunk head on. I don't think even a grizzly bear would keep fighting if you put a 308 though it's breast bone, that's a guaranteed incapacitating kill shot on most four legged animals, the breast bone and ribs shatter and the heart and lungs get perforated by bone splinters. **edit** Thinking back the first ones I fought from inside a house, I let in and axed two and shot a third out the window, I did one shot the alpha with a headshot from an elevated position with an m70.

I feel kind of stupid now, I didn't check. It was a pristine cowboy hat before the first time, I checked my m65 and vest after teh first go round but never even thought to note my hat.

Logged back in, exact same situation. I crawled back in the tree. This time they immediately attacked me. Five hits, by four I had bandaged and was still at over four-thousand health and blood but hit five was instadeath.

So who's tried playing dead with the wolves? I logged in to howls and went prone and crawled under a small evergreen tree, they kept coming closer and surrounded me. They started laying down around me, I couldn't see all of them because of the tree and heard what sounded like an occasional attack sound but took no damage. After maybe five minutes I started to get bored and figured I was immune to their attacks either way, I wish I had of waited longer I was in good shape and clothed well enough to be still for awhile. I started shooting them chambering a cz572 they could hit me and cause bleeding damage but it was minimal I killed three took and bunch of hits but was over four-thousand health and blood. One of their strikes did the push thing like infected launching me ten to fifteen feet out of the tree on to the road. I don't think you can wait them out and their target acquisition and agro seems to be being handled way differently than infected.

Yep, scum.

Avoiding it, failing that successfully disengaging. That's what I enjoy about PVP. I had my fill of shooters over the last twenty something years and the main thing I like about DayZ is it doesn't keep score and you simply win by not loosing.

Bitching about a known minor issue and blowing it up into "unplayable". That sounds to me like the same PVP pros who watch me take take out four infected with a pick axe then shoot me and talk shit like it was an epic kill. I apologize for neither my poor attitude, nor my smugness. People who play this game as purely a pvp game are scum and not going to stick around anyway if it turns out anywhere close to the developers vision and what anyone who read the description bought it as.

Read the status reports, this version of the map is basically a place holder. There is a huge visual upgrade to everything scheduled in the near future.

Awwwe geez, the kos kid are shitting up the EXP forum again. We know for a fact if you point your gun at someone then left click they die, the pvp mechanics are functioning as intended. Go test PVP on stable so we can work on trying the stuff that's gonna make you shitheels rage quit and go back to COD.

I only had one encounter and the voip was fine from what I could tell, was playing on the SNG 1pp, I spotted a guy said "hello, can you hear me". He said "harooo?" then ran away when I accidentally raised my fists trying to wave. I started carrying a compass and stopped running lost in circles like a noob last night, made my way with purpose to NWAF to get a vest and was not disappointed. I ran straight there from the coast unarmed in a yellow raincoat intending to just sneak through and try and talk my way out of death if need be. I found a new black assault pack, kinda cool 32 slots and looks very similar to the khaki one I have in real life, how long have those been in? I tried a flashbang on an infected in the middle of the airfield and my results were slightly different this time, my target again had no reaction nor the one behind him to the right but one to the left 50 feet or so behind locked on to me instantly and charged. I just sprinted and so far as I can tell in 1pp with how well you can look over your shoulder maybe 3 chased me a bit, I put some distance on them then went back to crouch walking and the were all "where'd he go?" and started wandering again. I got ones attention again in the tents and tried the same thing running six out into a field and sneaking around back to the tents, they seemed to quickly wander their way back to their stations then start shambling around aimlessly again. I found my vest just as I drew agro from one and while crouched got into a push fight with him because I wan't leaving without my vest, I took very little damage pushing back while crouched like the wolves. As I was escaping after getting the vest I heard cows so I ran towards the sound, this is where it got fun/funny the cows sprint at exactly the same speed as the player so I was able to stay in the middle of the herd for quite some time and only lost them when they turned back towards the airfield and I went straight because I was done there.

For a PVE player I can say it's a much needed breath of fresh air, glad I took a break before I got too toxic, really glad to be back.
-
Oh, the voip thing... I used to be able to set and test mine with my two accounts but I don't have two working computers that will play DayZ right now. I did turn my VOIP slider down some after my first encounter when I was told I was "really loud" and no one has complained since. Does the slider affect the broadcast and receive volume all at once?

Well that's good I guess, every barrel or tire I've thrown has disappeared so far. I really liked being able to bounce them of a tree trunk getting them to lay down so hopefully that becomes doable again.

I played a bunch on the SNG 1pp server last night, it was at low population and the infected reacted promptly and would chase me for miles sometimes even though my ping was in the 300s. Is the infected response tied to the amount of players on the server? Do they have a "sleep" system that reduces load if no one is near them and when there's more player more AI is being actively handled by the server?
-
I'm talking about throwing with the "g" key, not sure if we're on the same page. I spend a bit of time on Skalatisy every patch trying to loot cycle the area by destroying, moving and throwing everything that's not immediately useful to me. It has got better as far as that goes over the last couple patches with respawn getting more transparent and less predictable.

Can someone explain this phenomenon to me ?
BCBasher replied to General Zod's topic in General Discussion
Is the note writing not working or the paper sticking around the issue? She never clarified. I personally would just love it if notes worked especially if CTRL-V works. I'd leave dated "bread crumbs" with headings or clues to track me or find freshie care packages and stuff. -
That's been hit or miss in my experience, I've thrown a bunch off a certain lighthouse and sometimes I could find them on the ground, sometimes they just go proof.
-
Throwing barrels and tires still seems to instantly despawn them too.

I'm not sure if this is real or not but it seems to me the heat from the fire doesn't go as far away anymore? I've been getting right in there almost standing in it an it seems to tick faster. On the note of heat I was getting "hot" in the rain standing still, slow walking, and sneaking yesterday wearing a rain coat, hunters pants, cowboy hat, and bandana face mask. The infected bumping is real, had to f11 myself after finding my first longhorn in forever because I got pushed into one of the false rooms in a log house and even disconnecting running against the wall wouldn't get me out.

If they are aiming for the head/neck I don't think they compensate when you're crouched. I just fought and killed 3 with a blaze and a cowboy hat, I only took about 200 health and a little over 500 blood damage in a half dozen hits with no hat damage. I stayed calm crouched and did and fired 2 aimed shots when they were doing their "wind up" animation before pouncing and reloaded while one was attacking. I dumped a whole silenced glock 19 into the first one and still had to finish it with the blaze, the next two took two shots from the blaze not sure if I was getting headshots. I'm loving my beartrap and duct tape, sneak up to about twenty feet from an infected, place and arm the trap, step back and stand up, the tape repairs form badly damaged to damaged indefinitely, I didn't have time to try it on the wolves, curious if it one shots them.

Thanks for answering that. Are we working towards handling paper differently than other items as far as cleanup to make it actually meaningful to leave notes eventually?
