I just checked out the new highway checkpoint on the central western border, no infected guarding it so far as I could tell. The loot in the tents seemed adequate and diverse but holy crap the cars were a mess. had to have been 50 quilted jackets, similar quantities of wool coats and hiking jackets all with usable stuff like canned food and civilian ammo in the pockets. Some civilian clothes close to the tents had mil loot in the pockets, fnx mag in hiking jacket notably. A guy could lurk there indefinitely if he were so inclined. I was on SNG 1pp when I entered but it didn't come right back up after reset so I finished on AUS 1pp both similar loot situations.

These map changes will bring back NEAF era emptiness of the west.

Don't forget the big plans to make somewhere like the Tisy base an hazmat area or whatever with higher tier stuff and the helicopter but with increased environmental hazards. The coast will still have it's variety of coastal nonsense with players seeking more risk/reward heading to the back corner. If anything it should make that band in between interesting. -
I believe you run solo a lot too? Do you get a telltale stutter when other players are around? If I'm moving and get 5-10 frames of slideshow, I know there's someone there. I'm getting the feeling I miss it when I'm camping a deerstand or whatever because my FOV isn't moving and every frame is the same.

Aside from all the stuff in the OP, there was a pretty significant server crashing issue on Friday that they'll be getting to on Monday, our clients are actually rolled back to a previous version to get us through the weekend right now because of it.

There's plans for actions to be time based instead of portions chosen from a drop-down like we have now. One would hope an efficiency multiplier gets thrown in there depending on tool contrition.

Is the SKS (PAP m59/66) taking a PU scope without tools a place holder? My Tula Arsenal SKS doesn't and I don't see any pictures of stock Eastern Bloc licences built versions having the tapped holes in the receiver to mount it either. Mosin variants that can take PU kit are much less common as well yet all the ones in game have a "bent bolt". Only time will tell how gamey vanilla will be with these mechanics. I'd be all for a failure rate "broke tap" cant mount a scope on this gun ever, "drilled it crooked" now it shoots left or right the more you have to shoot high/low, etc.

I left Olsha with a pack full of pumpkin slices and figured I'd make my way to Vybor/NWAF using just the sun and landmarks which went pretty well. I carried on my research with "session lost" and infected despawning, got dropped twice in Vybor logged back into no infected both times and and a chicken the second, the chicken didn't start shit so we went our separate ways unharmed. I hit NWAF from the S/W end and got dropped a few times again clearing all the infected from my immediate area, made my way up the west side to the Quonset and one more "session lost" same thing infected gone. I almost left because I got a feeling there was someone in the tents. I went N/W to make a wide loop to the north side of the tents so I could see across the open area on that side. I crept in from bush to bush seeing about a half dozen infected wandering in the grass outside the tents so I just held my ground and watched. As I was watching big surprise "session lost" but on relog guess what? The infected were still there and I totally knew what to do in this situation I took my unsilenced MP5 and burped three into the nearest infected and then I ran, and ran, and ran some more. Of course one or two infected chased me but a few others went the other way, I wonder why? I made my way back around the long way to get the barracks on the east side and check out the new tent layout and saw signs of someone having been there recently. I also earlier in the day was curious about how many pages you could tear out of a book, two it turns out, cool. This was while I was dicking around in Olsha and when I did it I had no inventory slots so the first piece went in my hands and the second directly on the floor, I dragged the piece from my hands to the floor as well. One piece of paper hung around for hours but the book and second piece was gone in a half hour or so. I'm not sure what piece of paper stayed but think that's related to all the ammo box papers we were seeing hanging around in the tent cities?

Were you completely in the open? Some areas in the forest are sheltered and therefore "dry" yo can see it running through the forest if the light is right.

I spent the morning in Olsha, found pumpkin seed then a barrel so figured I'd be a farmer while I tested dynamic AI despawn. I had a healuva time finding a water container and garden tool with lots of "session lost" coming from my end. As I was skulking around the town slowly more and more infected would spawn in around me then I get the inability to open doors or pick up items, "session lost". I immediately log back n to a clear town and interestingly a chicken right around where I saw the most recent or closest infected more than half the time. It looks like if you are the only player in the area the infected despawn as soon as you log out and or turn into chickens, pretty cool. Grew about thirty pumpkins and my shovel didn't seem to degrade, diseased plants still grew perfect pumpkins, thrown pumpkins disappeared, thrown plant matter did not.

This wasn't what I wanted to hear for personal reasons but was the absolute right response to my intentionally pointed post. Thanks fort putting me in my place. Thank you for letting us know you've got it under control. Thanks for sending in someone to fix it, and keep us happy even though that's not the point of EXP.

I'd like to think I do follow the development a little, was there nothing to be learned from running the previous build a couple more days and dropping this Monday? I seem to recall something to do with persistence and the 3 day max between patch/wipes hiding a game breaking problem that made it to stable. Not telling anyone how to do their job but this sounds like a no brainier to this layman. FRIDAY PATCH!

Exactly, that mess I had cornered in the deerstand the other day is a great example, 4-5 to 1 in their favor we could have all had lot of fun with that but when none of them said anything I knew I only had one choice and started shooting. I would have gladly played along in one way or another if there was any communication and we could have had a half an hour of fun with it. Instead they forced me to start shooting and they got a dead survivalist's body with probably ruined gear that was only useful to me anyway and they were back to circle jerking by themselves on an island with nothing else to do.

It's was my sister in law's discarded virus riddled HP that I freshened up, my requisitions for a new desktop are nearing finalization and I'm going to water cool the laptop by flinging it across the yard in one of our winter monsoons.
-
I don't know if you're aware of the already... I'm playing on a laptop aswell and different versions have made mine run hotter than others, that causes some laptops to "cpu throttle" where your processor will alternate full speed and a lower multiplier to bring the heat down. Our nice one before it died I just put felt furniture pads on it to shim it off the desk and get more air under it, the POS I'm using now I cut up the plastic covers and moved the hard drive to the outside of it's cover to cool it down.

If you compare all three pics, the OP's photo and Gew's screenshots you can see that the rail appears riveted to the receiver. I have a little bit of a metalwork background and can say that retrofit isn't impossible obviously but would be beyond your average home handyman's ability especially if you had to "McGyver" it in the field. A scope has a lot of mass and if anything in that system isn't secure it's going to be all over the place especially on a rattly rifle caliber SMG. Not saying there's no chance they'll give us that ability but I'd consider it very "gamey".

According to studies a lot of KOSers are self conscious of how their voice sounds when the get excited, on account of that whole waiting for their nuts to drop thing they're going through.

Haven't seen anyone today yet but I noticed last night that even though I was playing at and almost 400 ping yet my encounter with the other player seemed very smooth. I'm guessing he was an experienced player and doing the sniper shuffle trying to stay at the edge of my field of vision and seemed to be reacting fluidly to me doing the same. I wonder if the gear data not being sent or whatever is smoothing things along, I usually see a jerk when players change directions sidestepping on high ping servers. I also found a suicide victim yesterday on my way through Electro who was showing up clothed but the living player I encountered later was in his undies.

I wasn't bitching, I want it done right just point out the logic he doesn't want to wait a few minutes to log in and his solution is to possibly hold development a few minutes by not stressing the servers. Did a little run this morning and had two instances that seemed the react quicker and more effectively to my footsteps even while sneaking. Had one with no line of sight on the other side of a house wander right around two corners to investigate me sprint sneaking in place. I had a second one that I could see in the street through a gap in a tall wooden fence come right through the gap and start scanning for me after I passed by, it was wandering the other way before I passed the gap. A tweak I'd like to see is an in between speed when they think they think something is there that's faster than player sneaking speed, I can keep my distance too easy.
-
You don't like waiting to join? I don't like waiting for the game to get finished, get in the EA mindset and take one for the team.
-
Don't recall asking if you were cold, I was crouched in the doorway of a log house and came out in the street as the player was fighting the infected to help but forgot I was holding something in my hand.

I had a little run around the S/E corner of the map last night, I hung out in Msta following an infected around for a bit and it seemed to do it's pause and head wiggle and change course more often than I've seen before taking shorter walks between waypoints. Met a friendly player (UK accent I believe) who ran up to the log house I backed into when I heard player footsteps with an infected in tow. I wasn't much help as I had full pockets and a protector case in hand but he made short work of the zombie with his fists. We had a chat about how we both appeared in our underwear before he went west and I headed east. I had several "session lost" sometimes five minutes but some stretches lasting an hour, I have a feeling that's on my end, if I was near and infected agoed or not they despawn in the time it takes me to get back in game. I found a barrel and filled it with raincoats and stuff will check it shortly to see if it's still there. *edit* For fuck sake, swam a bear trap to skalatisy in time for a character wipe.

Got in for an hour before cooking dinner, ran right through Elektro and only saw one infected at the firehall but found at least a dozen at the summer camp. Got the next two days off work, woohoo!
-
Awwww, thanks. Work kicked my ass yesterday and couldn't get into the repeated "session lost" bullshit or be bothered to switch to my phone tether last night, went to bed early. Sure saw a lot of interesting responses with every ones feelings on TS vs in game direct chat. I really do think people are depriving themselves and others of a lot of depth possible in this game by doing things the way they're "used to", or the easy way, and I'm sure some use it just to not be heard giving them and edge in their l33t PvP nonsense. I personally play most if not all games by a set of self imposed rules/morals even if they make a game harder, "kids" especially don't understand games (or life in general) isn't about getting things done as quickly and easily as possible. I know we're talking about games but it's no different for real life, if you rush through everything only concerned what's next we all come to one inevitable finality, "game over".

Will do, I plan on taking back and holding my island. I've got do a military loot run to get a vest and pack and then make my way home I think.

Damn, two builds and before there was 1 in the shed behind the lighthouse on Skalisty every server every time.
