This might take 2-3 tries but works, physically disconnect though as in pull your network cable or turn off your wifi. It'll also put you right beside your truck if you're driving when you get a "no message received" rather than where you got in the truck.

I just jam a finishing nail under the #2 and #3 key over the W.

A design requirement of the 7.62X39mm used by the SKS and AKM was to be able to penetrate a steel helmet at 1000m in indirect/volley fire. Any center fire rifle should be able to pierce the thin perspex windscreen, sheet metal work and do serious damage to the occupants and engine. They said specifically no anti material rifles but I haven't seen any word on whether they'd consider specific anti aircraft weapons. A well placed shot from an SVD has and would take down a helicopter IRL though.

Unless something changed on Monday's hotfix taloons also spawn at grocery stores but as Klesh and Odin said just make one. 1 burlap sack a piece of rope (you can make rope from combining 2 stacks of 6 rags) and 3 sticks and you get 20 slots with a way lower profile and better colour than a taloon.

Sorry, bad habit of mine. Used to work for a guy who would come up with "great" ideas like it were a video game and couldn't figure out why they didn't work IRL even if you explained it to him before hand.

The mirrors kind of work in Arma 2, and do work in Arma 3, I think they're waiting on the new renderer for implementation. I think I read something about reflections but I can't recall where, I doubt this new engine would be a regression on their part. I read the post about loading a shipping container with a winch and like the idea in principle but that's a little easier said than done without one of these. It can be done but it takes an earthen, metal, or wood ramp but then getting it off is another can of bullshit without a crane. I've never been allowed to try it but have a feeling the trick with chaining it to an immovable object and driving away would have some serious consequences for the container and truck. Securing it on the a cab and chassis would also be a bit of a big deal, the steel on steel of the container and frame rails would seem secure on flat ground but any acceleration, turning, side hill, etc. would cause it to move, loose the load and possibly flip the truck. How about a V3S or Ural with one of these decks? **edit** @ S3V3N About the sound diference between first and third person, whichever dev was showing off the new .59 vehicles in a video mentioned it was on the list and how annoying it was.

There's a bible in game, nice thin paper. Blaze up and read Leviticus for teh luls?

Where do we draw the line with what can be improvised though? There's now a fridge in game, door switch from fridge, 9v battery, metal pipe, fine grain gunpowder from 22 shells, wire, matches, and any object someone might want to pick up off the ground = one way ticket back to the coast? They're never going to be able to implement everything a human being could come up with for a weapon given some crap to duct tape together.

"you are dead" What percentage of the time do you get any insight into why someone chose to show you that message across a black screen? Anecdotaly I agree there's a lot of it, I'm cautious and easily avoid KOS squads and out of my maybe 10-15 deaths to other players I have been apologized to and heard "you scared the shit out of me" more than a few times but there is also a good number of the "where's the good gear?" crowd out there.

Had it three times testing it and you can actually just keep eating whatever got you sick through out the sickness because you cant get sick while you're already sick. If you're in good health to start with you survive but loose allot of blood so you are susceptible to the slightest injury while your vision is greyed out but it's easily survivable in 2-3 hours.

Cooked meat has a chance of making you sick, the name always says raw but the texture indicates cooked. Ate 30 carp fillets between 2 guys this weekend and it was fine but earlier in the week I ate 4 fillets and got sick not sure if it's fixed or I got lucky. They broke it at some point in .58 exp.

Can or could get a brain disease from eating unprepared human meat as far as I know, I'm against cannibalism even in video games so haven't/won't try. On the as far as I know things I believe before I started playing at one point in the development you could get an infected wound from the infected but it was the same as the infection you get at random from stitching up wounds currently. Correct me if I'm wrong on either.

One key piece of lore in this game with so little in the way of a cannon story is that we are immune.
-
The SKS ejects vertically and the charging handle is far enough forward it shouldn't interfere with your face the safety might be awkward though. A lefty could correct me if I' wrong but I believe most autos and semi autos eject shells far enough forward that your face shouldn't be in the way?

3. I did get a truck to despawn in EXP, couldn't make it back to where I got it before a wipe to see if it respawned. I crashed it into a shallow part in the ocean and died. Made my way back and hung around with it through at least one maybe two resets where the tires would ruin immediately after. It eventually wasn't there yet the barrel I manged to place underwater by it was. I know you didn't want heard/read but there was a really detailed post about a guy getting random killed driving with his passenger and and made it back to the scene shortly after to find the truck gone. It did say the exact colour of truck was back where the one that presumably despawned came from. 4. Can't say for sure but the town I spent the first week in eventually stopped spawning ranged weapons after I took them for a few days and stashed them near the town.

Truck/Tent/Container Loot Problems, Tested
BCBasher replied to DayZCiv's topic in General Discussion
Containers in containers seem to be another culprit but I did notice a change when I brought a new truck home last night to a camp that had expanded some since the last time I had a truck there. -
The warning is something almost everyone is getting, us on 4g or less of ram have to restart every few hours or it bogs and crashes. I play a 3840X720 surround and had to do what Baker said when I first started in February but one of the pathces right after enabled full screen with triple heads. You do have triple head selected in your video setting for ratio or whatever? I can't get into games anymore on a single display, WSG ruined me.

With Persistence in, what currently can we build in Camps?
BCBasher replied to venkman302's topic in General Discussion
It was last night but I finally used it up along with a a few other part rolls. Have a crossbow still there since the Thursday after patch day as well and some arrows that have been on the ground for a few days. Plant material sticks around seemingly forever as do whole pumpkins but pumpkin slices and any part of prepared fish, guts or fillets cleanup quick if dropped. -
Should trucks spawn with glowplugs and batteries? Should guns be more rare?
BCBasher replied to Noctoras's topic in Suggestions
To each their own but I'm hoping the vanilla game caters to people like me who play 2 or more hours a day everyday but usually they cater to casuals. One or more of the groups will have to wait for modding to get the specific DayZ experience we want. Meat is bugged right now with a wildly random chance of making you sick so that sucks considering how awesome the stick cooking and the new net+wire fishtrap and duct tape to repair it are. My personal hope on that one is that cooked meat ends up being more nourishing than canned goods considering the extra work to get it and exposing yourself to cook it. Had some asshole KO me on Skalatisy while I was cooking up a dozen deer steaks (when they weren't bugged) that I would have happily shared along with advice and material aid to get off the island but DayZ being DayZ I guess, was mega pissed about the 3 deer hides that he probably just trashed. -
3 Deaths, 3 Bugs, 1 Tired Player: A Story of 0.59
BCBasher replied to DickCheney's topic in General Discussion
For the private server crowd if I notice my stats seem wonky I take my boots off and hurt my feet. Had it with my second account where the guy just wouldn't recover from having blood taken, figured I'd been energized/hydrated long enough, took off boots, boom healing for five seconds, healthy. -
We Can't play DayZ together on the same IP or atleast on the saame network connection? help
BCBasher replied to peeko's topic in Troubleshooting
I do it all the time and the only problem I have is we cant both join at exactly the same time, we get a lost session from one if we don't wait until one is on the server before the other joins. -
We were talking about that in the .58 stable discussion a few days ago, it seems like when they relaxed the restrictions on types of bark to make a hand drill and use as tinder the broke oak bark. If you find an oak tree you get 2 options tor get bark but both are just bark and have no use in dying.

Car batteries stored on concrete floors being bad is based on old outdated information from when the outer cases were made of porous hard rubber. They've been made of hard nonporous plastic for quite some time and do not allow current to pass through their shell anymore. Keeping modern lead acids on cold concrete can actually help stabilize a their temperature slowing self discharge. Discharging a battery and then using the alternator to charge it is both bad for the alternator and starting batteries do not like being deep cycled, run right down then charged back up. The alternator is meant to run the vehicle's electrical systems while its's running and just top back up the little bit it took to start the car, starting batteries are meant to be always fully charged except the few minutes it takes to top it back up after the starter does it's thing. RVs that use 12v accessories typically have a 12v starting battery and one or more deep cycle batteries (meant to be run down then charged up) isolated from supplying power back to the starter and slowly charged while the vehicle is running or totally isolated from the vehicles electrical system and charged by an auxiliary generator. Not that you couldn't half ass a bunch of these ideas into working but if it were the last battery on earth you'd also want to treat it right to preserve it's longevity.

Jogging against a wall and disconnecting your network works too.
