Server browser isnt working for me any help please
GaryWalnuts replied to MadMilk's topic in Troubleshooting
Solution (at least it worked for me) here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/220253-dayz-standalone-no-servers/ -
I guess the update borked my tcp/ip stack? It's all good because that did the trick, I'm seeing servers now! Thank you SmashT

Still having issues here too (I was playing an hour ago). Got a BE service update and it completed. Also saw a small update come through Steam. Then did a DayZ "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" and rebooted computer... still no beans, or more specifically no servers in the server list. I even removed old filter by resetting to default. Will report back when something changes.

I just got a Battle Eye cmd window updating the service and I also got a small update through Steam. Maybe it's related? I'm not seeing any servers in the list yet but I'm sure they'll be along soon enough.

Chance pistols and long rifles spawn with empty magazine
GaryWalnuts replied to 4brkfast's topic in Suggestions
I never mentioned 1911 mags. OP had mentioned mosin, magnum, blaze, repeater, shotgun etc. 1911 mags I don't see many of, but I think they spawn near military installations and I avoid those hotspots that's why I don't see them often. Makarov mags definitely spawn by the broken down tanks. For the clips/accessories that OP mentioned get off the coast and go inland for better odds, hit 3 or 4 towns, visit the piano houses, every broken down small pickup you see along the way and even police stations, you'll find your clips. -

Well I don't think those mags are that hard to find at all you just have to know where to look: the piano house and junk pickup. It's always got a sporter mag, speedloader, snaploader or even the 10 rd sks clips, mosin clip, cr carbine, they are all there. I just now (not 10 minutes ago) picked up another sporter 10 round clip from the bed of a small pickup truck outside of my normal routes. Everyone knows that military mags are in the barracks, that's a no brainer. Another part of the game is knowing where to find the loot that *you need, right now*. Those clips are out there in abundance, still finding the right one is a great thrill that would be lost if they just lined the coast with speedloaders. Just my opinion. -
Well, once you get cold it doesn't go away on it's own, ever. It's constant jittering in the scope and binoculars. You need to warm up properly, and that typically requires a fire. Get yourself a thermometer, if it reads 35.5 or less then it is the cold jitters.

No, I believe they did maintenance today but didn't wipe the hive. -
Item Suggestion: Ground Tarp (With Water Collection Function)
GaryWalnuts posted a topic in Suggestions
So I've stopped using the military tent as it's too easy to spot from afar, because when they find the tent - then they find everything else. I'm not suggesting that the tent be changed, tents are as they should be: a compromise between high storage and high visibility. What I'd like to see is something in-between "tent or backpack stash". And maybe add something else useful (though difficult to achieve) like water collection. So I suggest: The Ground Tarp. It would need to be persistent and probably a rare civilian item like the small camper tent. It doesn't need slots for storage and it won't help to keep you dry. Maybe it's a heavy item that needs to be backpacked like the military tent or carried in hand like the jerry can. The reward for carrying this roll of polyethylene or canvas back to your camp would be two fold: First, the ground tarp would cover the area's grasses like a mat, similar to to what the tent floor does. This makes it so you can drop items onto it and everything doesn't disappear into the foliage and ferns, as is what typically happens in the woods. Secondly, (and this would require that jerry cans be made persistent too) Now that jerrys can be emptied and refilled with drinkable water - you can attach a jerry can to your ground tarp. Maybe this process requires additional tools like pliers and wire to craft the attachment. Now, with these two somewhat difficult items to acquire (or carry) when it rains on the server it would collect water into the jerry, similar to the "Catch some rain" function in the PET and canteen. Just your basic ground tarp + optional water collector (and *not* craftable into another tent, we've got tents already!) -

GaryWalnuts replied to GaryWalnuts's topic in Suggestions
Yep, I've learned that you can empty a jerry can of it's gasoline and fill it with 20L of drinkable water (that's 20 PET bottles worth) from a well or a pond . Then carry it in your hands back to your camp B) I've also learned that they aren't persistent  -
I see them occasionally in two types of civilian houses. 1) The old small log cabin (that has only one room) 2) and in the new 2 story cabin with the bar and attached workshop (sporter sometimes spawns in workshop)

As far as military locations go, I have no idea if .22 mags spawn there or not as I generally avoid those hotspots. I've had my 30 round for about a week (found in the Piano house) and I found a 10 round yesterday in one of those small wrecked pickup trucks. I only started using sporter in .52 so I know the .22 mag spawn locations hasn't changed since then.
-
IMO the best place to find the .22 10 or 30 round mags is in the Piano House bottom floor shelves & the top of the staircase. The other location I've picked them up is in the back of the wrecked small pickup truck which spawns odd mags like .22 30 rd, cr527 5 rd, 357 speedloaders, mosin and sks clips.

Meat. what does it say when its get cooked.
GaryWalnuts replied to Survivor1965's topic in New Player Discussion
I know right, it's almost as if people don't like being ridiculed simply for asking a question. -
Make sure of a few things 1) That you're joining the same type of server; 1pp or 3pp 2) That you're joining the same type of hive; public or private 3) That you're not logging off with other players nearby, upon logging off there are still a few seconds where you can be killed (this is so people don't combat log) 4) Don't log back on immediately after a server restart, people report their players getting wiped, wait a few minutes. 5) Don't get attached to your gear.

Glad to help! Magnifier Tool has never gotten along well with Steam.
-
a few windows settings that could possibly make these things screwy in any game: -make sure you uncheck 'Display pointer trails' in mouse properties -make sure you uncheck 'magnifier box' in ease of use

What do you think will be the lifeblood of this game?
GaryWalnuts replied to gankaskon's topic in General Discussion
I think it's because this game allows for a variety of playstyles all on the same server and that makes for great interactions. I had a broken leg, no ammo and was pinned by a sniper when a random cawadoody squeaker raced full-sprint directly at me, my death it seemed was inevitable. As he approached me he squeaked "hey what up dude?" and dropped a splint right in my lap and kept on running. I've also had a squad of three fully kitted guys approach me while I was minding my own, fishing for carp. They clearly had the upper hand as I was holding a fishing rod, but before I could say "Welcome to Stary Yar! Are you lost?" I was dead. I like this game because just when you think you know what to expect, somebody goes and does the opposite. -
I got a chuckle from that squeaker voice at the end

Fill it the slots with stones and use it for melee also!
-
There's a sticky for that here, if that no-worky there's the same (but slightly overkill) method here.

The anti-stab vest and rider's jacket have reduced bleeding properties that the assault vests don't. It's a good combo if you travel light and/or get attacked a lot.
