That explains the whole lot! :beans:

I've been using trucks a lot more lately, trucks make it much to easier to keep a camp in a distant/remote location. I've noticed a lot of these things too, just to add a few other things I've noticed: The civilian model (the truck with the rack bed) seems a little safer when dealing with zombies. They will frequently ignore your character and go right into the bed of the truck, then you can step out of the truck and calmly headshot them without risk, they won't attack. With the standard model v3s (chassis model) they will wait at the door of the truck for you to exit, there's a slight delay after "get out" where you can be vulnerable to attack. Also, the chassis model seems to get zombies stuck in the chassis if you run them over, making quite a racket, but less so with the rack body. For what it's worth, if I'm driving around a chassis model and see a truck with a bed, I'll do a switch. I've also got a few questions about the v3s: 1) The tank seems perpetually full and I've done about 4 runs from the northern border to the southern coast with the same truck, as well a lot of local runabout, has anyone else had the same "problem"? 2) Is there a way to check the condition of the truck? Aside from being a little beat up looking I can't tell if hitting the next zombie is going to make the wheels fly off. edit: question 3 3) While heli hunting last patch, I got a truck stuck on a rock wall. I couldn't get it unstuck, so after about 10 minutes of futile bucking around I just gave up and ran off. The next day I went by and it was alongside the rock wall but unstuck. I can't imagine that someone else got it unstuck and just left it there ... so, does a server restart move the truck a bit if it's stuck?

I do believe you have Cholera (probably drank water from a pond), find some Tetracycline Antibiotics.

I've found exactly two, identical pristine/black hi caps. At the same time, right next to each other in the northern/kamensk military base barracks. Haven't seen one before or since in .55.

oh look a metagaming thread!

Same for me, my tents haven't been found (or at least haven't been looted) all patch

Questions about 0.56 possible wipe and other
GaryWalnuts replied to hekeetsu's topic in General Discussion
Sure there could be a wipe when .56 comes, or any Wednesday. But what are you going to do, hold it in your hands until .56? Best just to pitch the tent and use it until you lose it. Also debug plains are still out there West and North. -
Please, stop building villages everywhere

One thing I would like to see is denser woods, not revamping the whole map of course. Just more patches of evergreens and thick brush scattered throughout the map, away from roads and *flat* so you can pitch a few tents and hide a truck. -
Has that been implemented yet?

I just checked, my tents and contents are still there today, everything seems untouched and I haven't noticed anything particularly odd the last few days. I'm playing on a gameservers 3pp public btw

Scarce loot. I'd like the game to be harder again, being on the brink of starvation was refreshing. Also, bears. Hungry, angry, territorial bears.

I don't think there's a wrong way to do it, there's lots of playstyles and if you get bored with one, try playing a different way. The worst that can happen is you die and respawn, but you'll always gear up again. At some point you should explore the map though, it's a big map with lots of locations, different atmospheres and some nice surprises.

Maybe that's the right sequence (until it gets fixed). Detach everything, empty pouches, add holster *then* add pouches, refill pouches and use normally. When I find a holster I'll try it out. Edit: A note on repairing these things too: Plate Carrier can be repaired to Pristine with a leather kit but only when nothing is attached. To repair Attachment pouches, attach them to your newly Pristine Plate Carrier, then repair the combo, this repairs the Attachment Pouch. Unfortunately, I haven't a gun holster to test further.
-
I've had the 'disappearing loot' bug when attaching a gun holster to a filled attachment pouch. Until it's fixed I'll just avoid the holster.

I also really enjoyed the scarcity of loot and the struggle too but there were definitely some issues that needed work. Getting full health, a smersh vest and full gorka after visiting ten outhouses, then an mp5+10 mags after visiting the first two police stations you come across isn't exactly what they had in mind either. I hope they get it smoothed out on the next update so that loot is once again scarce but everything is also found in their proper spawn locations.

I'm guessing but it looks like it could be Zub Castle from the South/East near Mogilevka

Surviving for a long time is my goal, I play solo and tend to respect other players space, definitely avoiding groups, never getting too close - even if I'm trying to make friendly contact, unfortunately I see a lot of "log-offs upon contact" in the lone-wolf playstyle. I'm surprised the far north isn't a friendlier place really, there aren't many squeakers flocking to Stary Yar to KOS a pumpkin farmer... Though my 'home' is in the north, exploring every part of the map including the southern cities and coast is also part of my routine. Travelling only by foot, my main camp is now only a handful of civilian tents and I've got another three or four along my normal routes. If a camp is found, looted or lost in a wipe I don't mind, it's just a reason to make new ones, the same goes for all of my gear. I'll give myself missions, maybe a helicopter hunt or a trip to nwaf or green mountain, or in this new patch finding all of the new woodland campsites and clearing out the zeds. Hunting, farming, fishing, cooking is my usual MO, and stockpiling because tents have been stable for me throughout this whole patch. This last patch I've made two runs to the southern coast, picking up a tent along the way and stocking it with food, water, can opener and assorted ammos then pitching it right in the middle of the road, maybe to help some random freshy make it through that first tough day. As far as PVP goes, I don't go looking for trouble but I go into the hostile areas too looking for better gear, it's an important part of survival and I won't hesitate to shoot first if I feel threatened. And on that subject, this .55 patch has removed a lot of the PVP players (to many PVE's delight) but on the contrary I prefer having those PVP and KOS threats around, it just made everything a bit more difficult and dangerous, the map is plenty big for both playstyles.

I haven't seen one in stable yet but there were plenty in experimental found in sheds

I can confirm this, I had the same exact thing happen yesterday. Also, the holster didn't show up in my inventory as I expected to see an open slot.

It seems nobody can enjoy any patch without being either so hardcore elitist or cawadoody 420leetsnipah.

I've found one box of matches so they do spawn, found them in an outhouse (which is where you'll find everything this patch). I've found a few portable gas stoves but no gas canisters, which was an alternative way to cook without matches, simply attach gas to stove and "turn on/turn off". Haven't seen a pot or a pan either...

My last spawn was on the southern coast but I knew to head immediately inland for resources. I was down to the red-status starving twice but managed to luck out by finding a bag of rice near Dolina. Once you get into the north it's much easier to get and stay healthy simply because of available resources. Then gear up, load up on food and pet bottles then head back south if that's your thing. Also, outhouses - check every outhouse, they are mini loot explosions, sometimes even military loot like hi-cap vests and plate carrier+attachments, ammo, can openers, canned foods, fire axes, etc. just about everything. And outhouses are another reason to head north, the towns are full of them.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.
GaryWalnuts replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
Whether the loot distribution was intentional or not, I'm very much enjoying this patch. Sparse food/loot and the zombie ai makes everything a bit more difficult, and finding stuff in unexpected places is rewarding. It's feeling more like a survival game to me. Now all we need is aggressive wildlife, hornets nests, venomous snakes, earthquakes, random city-wide air strikes, lethal thunderstorms, slippery leg-breaky surfaces, random booby trapped doors and generally more random things that are out to kill you, injure you and make you sick! -
Been playing this update for a few days now, sorry for wall of text, I'm just reporting what I've noticed Lag. I'm getting more lag/desync when approaching cities and it lasts a bit longer than usual, but I dont seem to have as much desync/unplayable that others are reporting. Zeds. Staggering is a nice touch, they seem to always get the first strike on you now, so I'm not doing the sidestep method but taking the first shot head on then 1 chop, they stagger, 2nd chop. Seems to be a 2 shot system again. I do like the stealth though I can get within a 5 meters crouching before they see me. Shooting is definitely not my first option now, I axe and have my gun ready if the horde comes. I dont know if it's just me but they seem to do less damage per hit and they dont always ruin gear even if they get a few punches in. Loot. It's definitely mixed-up, I found a police station exploding with smg loot: 2 raks and 3 mp5s/attschments and more mags for both than I could carry. A police car with a rak and 2 mags and a whole loot mess of police uniforms. APC's seem to also be spawning police uniform loot, handcuffs, keys etc in vast quantities even if the immediate surrounding area is spawning loot normally. Civilian tents are everywhere including outhouses (which have a ton of loot now, including hi-cap vests and some mil gear). Tents surviving restarts btw seem to be hit-and-miss. I had two civ tents very close to each other, one was eaten and the other survived the restart... Since then Ive got 2 more tents in my own mini tent city and all have survived at least one restart. .357 ammo seems hard to come by but I put down my repeater for an mp5 this time around because mags galore. 308win is spawning but rarer than a few days ago. Food and PET bottles are certainly harder to come by, it takes a lot of looting to get healthy (which I think is a nice change). Other notes: Heli's are spawning in the same locations after restart, loot doesnt seem to be replaced/change. NWAF & tent city had minimal loot and/or a lot of civilivian loot. Might be my own luck (or where I'm searching) but I havent seen a mountain backpack, hunting or sposn since this update (or for that matter civilian mags, clips, speedloaders, etc)
