    Duplicate Ammo glitch

Even if you have the best of intentions, video how-to-instructions should really be sent by pm. The longer the video stays up the more people will now abuse it and that's not necessarily helpful. Your thread has only been up for an hour, you can still edit the video out of your original post. I'm sure with all of these replies a mod, dev or somebody will contact you - it is definitely something they will want to have a look at.

Thermometer status changes to show outdoor temp

Back in .58 we did some debug island swims, some were successful and some weren't. The ones that failed were always due to hypothermia - and it always seemed just a few minutes from the island that we froze. On one particular swim, Tatanko, Odin Lowe and I were discussing that some servers seemed warmer than others and if we could find a server that was a tenth of a degree warmer that would probably be enough to make it. We attempted to test a few servers but there was no way to be sure other than observing some arbitrary effects. Funny thing, after our last successful swim in .58 we were kicked for "too much PVE", somewhere a screenshot exists. After that we suggested a loot item weather thermometer, or possibly a fixed/static weather station (attached to a building or something). Several people have mentioned it this patch, including myself and I do hope the devs are listening. It just seems like such a fundamental thing to be missing from the game.

Gear wipe bug. Spawning in naked

Were you double-carrying or did you have something else in your hands? I think this has to do with glitched hands. Two items in your hands - one item is glitched (invisible) and the other you're obviously carrying. When you go to log back into a server it doesn't know what to do and the resulting chaos = inventory wipe. It's just a theory of course but I've noticed a lot of glitched hands this patch. Certain items+animations seem to be worse offenders than others, cookpots still seem a bit buggy too. One hint that you are glitched (even though you may not see it) is the inability to jump. Another hint that your hands are glitched is when pressing F2 while standing your character decides to go prone to put his hands on his head - instead of doing it while standing up (as he should). On that note, F2 seems to fix both the hand glitch (thanks IMT) and the inability to jump. You just have to let the animations finish properly and you might have to do it twice. Once you are in a standing position and you can finish the F2 animation and remain standing then your hands *should* be unglitched. Doing this before every log off seems like overkill but if I wasn't jumping properly or had an obvious item-in-hand glitch I would definitely F2 until it was fixed before logging off.

    Noob question

I don't think there's any way to remove the liquid from the oil barrel yet. I believe you can still poke holes in the barrel to make a firepit but that renders it useless (as a persistent storage device) because it despawns on server restart. Fortunately there's no permanent downside to having damp items right now, nothing a quick fire can't dry out.

    I am rapidly warming up

Yep, it's a seasonal and it's summer. Tatanko posted this gem a few weeks ago in the Experimental thread. If the heating up part is working as intended then the cooling off part isn't there yet. I enjoy environmental difficulties as much as the next guy but sitting in a body of water should stabilize our temperature at a somewhat predictable rate - whether that takes 2 minutes or 30 minutes. On that note, I'll take the opportunity to mention a suggestion I've made in the past. We already have an internal thermometer - why not spawn an external thermometer? or if not a spawned item then a weather station (as a static item located in certain buildings that we can interact with) Is it cooler at night? or cooler on the coast than inland? Should I wait until nightfall before I make a marathon run to Tisy and come back with my 50kg of loot? Oh yeah - and they should spawn some more regular thermometers, we need them this build. I've only seen a handful throughout .60

    Cant see Servers

Try setting your filter settings the same as the below pic make sure that there's nothing accidentally typed into 'Host' click apply, then back and then make sure that you're looking at the Internet tab

how long is the improvised suppressor ?

iirc in .59 it was only a shot or two with the higher calibers. I remember firing up to six shots through it with a .22 before it got ruined. I haven't tried it yet in .60, it's durability may have changed. I can't recall if you could repair it with duct tape before it reached ruined status (with enough duct tape the water bottle in the small improvised fish trap could be repaired indefinitely)

    Pitchfork could hold 3 steaks

As the title says: Add up to 3 steaks to a pitchfork. Give that inconsequential item some value! Cook 3 steaks in the time it takes to cook one! It could also carry 3 steaks instead of holding them in your inventory! Pros: Add a fish, get surf and turf :) Cons: Melee can ruin your steaks :(

    Pitchfork could hold 3 steaks

Ah Gentlemenf, the ol' banana in holster, an idea as old as fire and perhaps as important as the wheel I must concede. The original idea was not my own though, it was found whilst digging through Ye Olde Feedbacke Tracker. An ancient schlolar had posteth it there in the annals of that first testament. I had merely noticed that the genius of it had gone wholly unnoticed and thusly brought it here to this forum so that it might bask as a thorny glory in the devs sides.

    Hunting

Here is a northern route I used to take in .59 stable. Some days in .59 it would produce good results and other days nothing. I've seen deer, cows, boar and fox there. The upper part of the route north of Novaya Petrovka, specifically the woods between Polesovo and Kamensk used to have a good chance of seeing deer herds. For cows I would favor Southwest of Lopatino, also northwest of Gorka along the power-lines used to have some regular cow herds. The lower eastern part of the that route, towards Severograd, Gvozdno and Novy Lug I would occasionally see boar and fox. I'm not sure if the animal spawns have changed in .60 but I think they are similar as I've seen big game in the same locations (deer herds in Lopatino and Polosovo/Kamensk). Good luck hunting
  12. You might try deleting (or just rename it, so you have a backup) your dayz config and letting the game create a new default one, and see if that helps. C:\Users\Username\Documents\DayZ\DayZ.cfg

    60 Impressions?

I saw a bit of rain yesterday, first I've seen in at least two weeks. I'm looking forward to the nights with some color and I'm also hoping .60 has some varying weather too.
  14. It looked like a chicken to me, except that it seemed to have been flying then landing. I think that part's new.

    Computer Shuts Down

If you believe it's a software issue then check your launch options and remove anything in there. Steam>Library>right click DayZ>properties>Set Launch Options>(remove all) Some of those outdated switches can mess things up
  16. I always thought an island chain, like the Aleutians would be a great survival map. Lots of swimming, cold, necessity of fire, limited resources, that sort of thing.

A Few Thoughts On.. (Communication, Deadlines, etc)

At exactly what date and time is this communication approach going to be released? I kid :) Good luck with the new strategy!

    DayZ Q&A: Design

I saw a spotlight vid a few months back where hicks said he had like 5000 game hours in! I imagine many of those hours were not playing for fun but more like "go find a can of sardines, open with stone knife, note result, repeat 100x, report back." Who on the dev team has the most game hours in? And where do I send this poor grinder a case of rasputin kvass?

    House Suggestions

It's been suggested before but I do like the idea of some randomly locked doors. I occasionally use wardrobes for temporary storage but I'd never lock the door to the house. As it stands now, a locked door is a guarantee that a player has locked it intentionally so when another player finds a locked door he is going to try to get inside almost every time. Right now, locking a door is akin to advertising your whereabouts and it kind of defeats the purpose of locking anything. I'm not going to guess at a percentage, but if randomly locked doors were "not uncommon" then a door that was locked by a player won't immediately result in an attempt to breach it, making door locking a viable strategy.

    I'm convinced of it

I hope these magic barrels aren't confirmed for .60

A few thoughts on.. (Difficulty, Modding, etc)

Given that there are many playstyles and preferences (PVE, PVP, 1PP, 3PP, clan, lone wolf, Public, Private, KOS, cooperation), I'm not convinced that any amount of balance tweaking can ever satisfy the base as a whole, nor do I think it can lead to some mythical unification of the base. Players simply like what they like and they will always play the way they enjoy, or they won't play the game at all. With all of this disparity I think we still all have one thing in common: none of us want the game to be homogenized into mediocrity. Trying to please everyone with a single model will do that, and trying to please a single playstyle will drive away a remaining base that still wants to play. There's an old adage: if you try to please everybody you end up pleasing nobody. When mods come they will rightly pull a population of players away from vanilla. But there will still be the same preferences towards certain modes of play within vanilla. Does this "split the base" as they say, or does it actually keep more players around because they continue to enjoy the game as they please? I think the latter, and so instead of trying to corral disparate crowds, why not give them a choice? I like the idea of Novice-Normal-Veteran difficulty levels. They could be divided into three hives with no overlap (making it impossible loot up on a novice server and take your easy loot to a veteran server). Does a player want to loot up quickly on a bright sunny day and get into a firefight without spending 2 hours gearing up? OK, play on Novice hive and be geared up by the time you reach NWAF. Does the player want sparse loot, more hunting, low visibility, frequent hypo & hyperthermia, disease, more aggressive infected and animals and an unforgiving environment where even fully geared and experienced players face potential death by weather every day? Alright, play your Veteran character. A little bit of both? Just play normal. I do think the difficulty level would split the players (are they not inherently split anyway?) but in a more sensible way - and I guess that's my main point. There should always be a risk of being KOS'd while harmlessly farming off in some remote town, that's an essential part of the game. But I also believe environmentally difficult servers would see less of that and foster more cooperation simply because suffering untold horrors alone for days on end might make us think twice about popping the first person we've seen in days without even saying boo. Just my 2 cents.

Where do i find .308 rounds!?!

.308 is spawning but it seems to be very rare right now. I found some today, just in a random house, it was either in Tisy or in Stary Yar.
  23. You can try Verifying the Integrity of your Game Cache, go into your steam library, right-click DayZ, click properties, select the Local Files tab and then verify. If something in the game files is messed up it should find it and replace it. While you're in those properties tabs, go into General Tab and click launch options, make sure there's nothing in there (some options are outdated and have the potential to screw things up). Also, if you use an aftermarket(?) antivirus then try temporarily disabling it once, before starting DayZ just to be sure that it's not interfering with the game launch. Good luck.

    Truck Question

I think the -newui switch under launch options should do the trick. It works for seeing the entire contents of the larger tents too.
