Yeah there's not that many clothing items that have 0% absorption, gorka is very close though at 5%, so it's *almost* waterproof but technically just water resistant If you go for a swim in gorkas you will see that they get a damp status, which will eventually lead to a cold status (edit: if you don't warm up by sprinting or fire). Firefighters outfit won't get a damp status.
-
Gorka's are just water resistant now, they're not fully waterproof anymore. Firefighter's jacket and pants are waterproof with good insulation too, you can swim all day and they won't a damp status  edit: if you want to go to the next level, get wellies, a motorcycle helmet and a gasmask. you can play in the rain all day long and not get wet or cold. the trick is that you cant wear a vest of any sort or gloves as they will absorb water. I'd also like to see more variety in waterproof clothing, as mentioned before gloves and a vest or maybe a poncho that you can keep in your inventory for bad weather

The only place I've seen antibiotics is in the small tenement buildings. Those buildings seem to spawn tents and bandages, and occasionally you'll find antibiotics there too.

Computer Freezing while running any Bohemia Games
GaryWalnuts replied to AbsolumHD's topic in Troubleshooting
It's probably worth a mention - make sure that you've removed any launch parameters from the steam launcher. Steam Library > DayZ (right click) > Properties > Set Launch Options > (Remove Everything) Even on a new computer and a freshly installed DayZ any launch params may still be there as they are synced in steam not saved locally. Good luck! *edit* My bad, it's not just DayZ SA, still I suppose setting all launch params to default would be a wise -
1) You probably have the cold bug (when your character is cold but it doesn't show you in the status). Sit next to a fire and warm up for a few minutes. Make sure you're close enough that you see "I am promptly warming up" or "I am rapidly warming up" but not so close that your burn yourself. I believe others have reported that this can also happen with a broken or chipped bone (that doesn't show in status) I'd take a shot of morphine or apply a splint and see if that helps. 2) I believe the major optimizations are waiting until some of the bigger changes, like the new renderer, have taken place. Doing optimization prematurely would just be a waste of time and resources because they'd probably have to do it all over again after the renderer is in.

I've been up and down the short tenements dozens of times now (since exp it's been the only place to find tents) and I've yet to experience any falling glitch. Keep in mind I've only been in the small tenement buildings (5-6 floors) and I haven't spent much time in the tall ones

When you know you play too much Dayz :p

Oil Drums/Barrels. I can't see one now without rating it's condition :P -
Most of the maps edge is driveable but I've had similar things happen in the exact same spot - though not quite as dramatic as your blast into orbit :P

I can't wait to see what Senchi has been doing in the Northwest, it's rumored to be an industrial area :o Also base-building and improvements to the animal AI.

We Dedicated Few: A Guide to Debug Island
GaryWalnuts replied to Tatanko's topic in General Discussion
I guess you could find out the results pretty quickly and without risking everything- just go for a regular swim, but not too far from shore. This way you have time to make a fire and recover if you see the red "I am Cold" status (which is the beginning of the end) and not lose everything else that you've grinded for. In my own experiences the "I am Cold" status shows up in no more than 20 minutes. Keep in mind that some servers seem colder than others, which makes all of this difficult to confirm. On one server I swam back to the mainland at night under a hard rain and didn't get cold status at all. On a different server it seemed like a nice evening in Chernarus. Odin made it, Tatanko didn't, and I barely made it, dying of starvation and almost hypothermic - and we were all wearing identical gear! So as they say, your mileage may vary. -

We were working on the premise that all dampness that is retained in your inventory will accelerate your cold status. To avoid the dampness transfer none of us wore vests, gloves or carried guns on our backs. That was the hypothesis but we can't really be sure without more testing. A few days back, when I was still in the gearing up process I used a hi-cap vest for extra storage. Just the swim to and from Skalisty drenched my hi-cap and those short runs gave me a red "I am cold" status warning, even with the fireman's jacket beneath it. I know that's only anecdotal evidence - and it's a vest not a backpack - but my gut feeling says yes, the dampness seeps through. Edit: Oh and on the carbo-loading, we let ourselves get down to dark green or neutral if possible. We wanted to start on an empty stomach and fill up appropriately (enough food but lots of water) I used powdered milk (hi-cal/less filling) and ate a little extra beyond light-green energized. Then we loaded up on water at the Skalisty well, until we were orange stuffed on the brink of vomiting  -

It was a great trip but it's not for the faint of heart. The preparation was an end-game task all in itself ... as with any other item in DayZ, you can't find a drybag when you absolutely need one. Watching Tatanko die within 100m of the holy grail was heartbreaking and on that trip I was dying of starvation and freezing also, one minute more and I would've been fish food too. Thankfully, Odin was waiting there and forcefed me before I even got me feet out of the water. That said, it was one of my best experiences ever in Dayz, it's an unforgiving grind and well worth the hardships! Why? Because it's there. -
Painting guns now removes scope?
GaryWalnuts replied to IgnobleBasterd's topic in General Discussion
It's been happening this patch. I logged out and back in - and it was all still there in my inventory. The scope seemed to have just gone invisible. -
They were working in Experimental, I guess we'll have to wait and see.
-
I tested this a few days ago on experimental just to see what happens. I placed a civilian tent out in debug plains and it despawned on server restart. I highly doubt it was taken by a player since it was over the hills and far away...

I'd like to see tree growing in game. An apple tree in my camp would serve as extra food and hydration, maybe most importantly if placed properly it could add the perfect camp camouflage. Find some seeds, find the appropriate terrain, make sure it gets plenty of water and some disinfectant. If pumpkins can grow in 20 minutes .... then a tree that can grow in a week, why not?
-
"on this place stood a terrain glitch - Pyramid." - Senchi I suppose there could be survivors there. Get a pick-axe and a shovel and find out!

What is the best way to leave a written note? I want your opinions.
GaryWalnuts replied to Lorax's topic in General Discussion
I would leave it somewhere that's not a natural spawn location, it's unlikely that anyone would investigate it if it isn't in an obvious high traffic spot. I would not leave it indoors either, maybe: -in the middle of main street -at the front door of a high traffic building like the police station or hospital -maybe next to a well imo krazypenguin's suggestion definitely falls into the category of "Why haven't they done this yet?" The note should look different than a blank paper, so you could identify it immediately without having to 'read note' also another suggestion: now that nails are in, I'd like to be able to nail a note to wall or utility pole -
Very nice, I particularly like the 4th one, the shady tree arch in the foreground and depth all the way back.

Banned on steam discussion because of a review
GaryWalnuts replied to Nerusix's topic in General Discussion
Why gripe about it here? You should probably contact steam about that... -
Get out of here Stalker.

Kapmahobka (Karmanovka in English) is east/northeast of Novodmitrovsk. If you go due south you'll find the east/west railroad tracks and might have more luck getting your bearings from there.
-
Try lowering your "bloom" setting
-
Ah that is on the east side of Kamensk, there are some scenic wilderness camping areas south and east of there along the new river/water system
-
Ah I wasn't sure about them since I don't drive them much. Those things can really wake the dead :D Now, if they made an attachable silencer/muffler for it I might give them a go again.
