SweetBabyJesus (SBJ) and I ended up making our way through the airfield again today looking for some new gear... I've been reading some of the "sure shot in the face" configurations and while we're both trying to stay away from anything TOO aggressive- we are favouring the camo patterns. I like the Gorka stuff since it appears to be water proof- and also seems to match the overall colour palette in the game. If someone stumbles into us we're pretty well equipped but I think the real challenge is going to be to prove to people that we're actually meaning well. I found a gorka helmet and put a visor I found on it... I wear it when we're in the urban environment but I keep my worn balaclava on when we're out in the woods. It blends in nicely. SBJ found a mosin but he preferred the AKM now that he has a drum on it so I have the mosin camo painted and a fire axe painted green. We spend a lot of time using binocs, surveying towns that we come across- mostly to ensure things are clear before we move in. As we get more comfortable in our skills, I think we'll be looking forward to helping others who are harassed by bandits. I can't wait to have our first hero moment... He ended up having to go take the dog for a walk and I snuck back in for a few minutes to go scour some of the tents and save us some time for later. It was night on the server... I scanned there and didn't find much, then headed back towards the fire hall. As I was coming around the corner I noticed another player heading across in front of me- not sure if he saw me. I immediately backed off and headed into the trees and made like a hole in the air. Still not sure if he saw me... nobody hailed me over direct connect or anything but we were well within range of each other. I'm still not ready to do any really legit pvp and frankly I'm not interested in it... but I also didn't want to get my arse handed to me and have to restart from the beach while SBJ is at the airport. Suddenly I heard a Zed launch and start running towards this guy around the corner. I stayed still... and some him run across my LOS with the zed in chase. He then turned towards my general area and ran through the trees towards me. He ran by me a couple times about 30 feet away. I stayed still- He just kept running- I thought I saw he had a long-gun in his hand but wasn't using it... I figured if he didn't shake or kill the zed- or needed help with it I would help him... but I moved over to where I thought I'd be able to see him and he wasn't there... I didn't see him again. Come to think of it I'm not sure where the Zed ended up either. I noticed our compass gives reverse readings all the time and that's been causing some confusion. Not sure what the condition needs to be for it to actually give proper directions but I've tried it on a couple different compasses and it still seems to read in reverse. Anyone have any ideas? Do they only work when pristine?

Finally joined up with my spouse's youngest and we've been romping around the NWAF for the last couple hours. Ended up heading south to the military base where a few weird things happened. Not the least of which was walking into the fire station and finding TONS of stuff... then the tents to the north- nothing. Well, barely anything. Bunch of guns and bullets... no mags. Or at least very few. Glitched a few times... couldn't take the helmet I wanted... The weirdest thing of all though- was we were running south from the airbase to the military base... got to a town- picked our heading and started running there. Didn't turn... ran straight- and somehow ended up right back where we started. NO idea how that happened since both of us knew we were running in a straight line. And no- not claiming this is a bug... as much as to say running around in the dark is very disorientating. Loads of fun playing with someone else- changed the game for me.

I'm in that group of folks who sprints through the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere and trips on a gun cleaning kit... I have to push gun cleaning kits aside to get at cans of peaches. Meanwhile I've seen 1 can opener in 3 days, 20 rounds of 7.62 ammo and no magazines- ever. Meanwhile I could out-sew a battalion of grandmothers on machines from all the sewing kits, put a master gunsmith to shame with the weapon cleaning kits in abundance and I could stand in as the stunt double for the gluttony victim in the movie Seven after having been force fed all the canned spaghetti / peaches I find in 1 small town.

^ A guy has got to drink. I sat up on a hill for 5 minutes watching the town I eventually entered to go gain access to the school I was looking at yesterday and someone came in about a minute after I did- sometimes it's just going to happen. I was in a server with no more than 10 people in it and still managed to blunder into someone. I was lucky that it appeared to be someone newer to the game. This wasn't in a major city on the coast either. Kudos to the guy who held you up- I mean... it would have been nice if he'd just handcuffed you and left you with your stuff but that's not the game we're playing either. I got in for a couple more hours last night and FINALLY found some SKS ammo- but no clip so I'm still running dry. Also had a couple close encounters with some wildlife. I'm nothing if not well fed and watered so I haven't felt a need to kill anything for meat- much less garden... but the thought of tucking away into the trees somewhere to set up camp and just venture out occasionally to grab water (I haven't seen a canteen in 3 days) is appealing. One thing I did notice- and I've searched for it on google and here- is the scope function. I have a 2-8x scope that I am able to use without mounting (it won't mount to the sks anyway)... but when I go to use it to scout out an area it won't leave the horizon. I can pan back and forth but I can't move vertically. Is this a common problem that is known or is it something I should report? I am able to zoom in, min and max... If I try to "use" it without bringing it up first (using spacebar) then it enters a loop cycle animation where my character brings it up to their eye and then puts it back to their side... over and over again. Anyone else? (EDIT again... went into bug tracker and found it on page 4. I've since made an account and upvoted. issue 0020014 if you want to upvote!)

It was pretty awesome... that they responded and shared what was going on. I've been online gaming for awhile and a response like that was really commendable.

That's an AWESOME map Axe... Thank you. The one I've been using is bone dry- not sure how you got that but thank you for putting it up. Helps a lot for reasons that my pride as a noob prohibits me from exposing. (EDIT: Just figured out that my browser at work was so antiquated that it wasn't populating the map and couldn't- now I have a newer browser and I can see the icons.)

It's funny that the OP asks for experienced players to categorize bandits... With all due respect- who the F cares about the difference between an experienced guy and the noob (me.) We've all paid our money... we're all in the game. I run into some Dbag who wants to KoS- same as the experienced guy except the latter will make a youtube video about how he handed the guy's ass to him on a platter. He'll run around a corner, quickly bandage up, pull a weapon and go on the prowl. Meanwhile I'm sitting down, clapping and trapped in a cycle of pulling out an axe and putting it away. The KoS side is just a bunch of garbage alongside the guys who combat log. Too scared to have interaction and survive? Well then, go ahead or do one of the above. Poultry excrement. A guy who is going to encounter me, control me and take some stuff... and be convincing about it... I have no beef with that. Some jagoff that's going to pull out some tech on me and my T-shirt and crowbar, take my stuff and THEN kill me anyway because he's got one hand on his rat and the other on his mouse and gets some perverted pleasure out of it... I just hope those idiots get bored of it eventually and move on to other more respectable pursuits- like Candy Crush.

After almost 1200 posts I'd expect a bit more input than that... What does "not anymore mean?" There are still people in here trying to learn some stuff. C'mon.

lol^ I had an encounter today with a female character in a blue t-shirt and had a shovel. I don't think my mic was working- so I was trying to direct chat with her. How far does that go anyway? She had no weapons out and neither did I... I saw her before she saw me. I was hovering on my axe- but instead put my hands up to try and get the right first message across. I tried to talk but got no response. I eventually walked away and she followed me into a room- we were in a school. She stood there looking at me... so I typed out "crouch if you can see this" and she crouched. I said "I'm not threat- you can come with me if you want." We kind of walked around a bit but then I think she disconnected or something because she disappeared without a trace. Anyway, kind of a non event but as much as to say some folks are just in here hanging out and I'm glad to have met one!

I'm a bit late to this party but did search it and this was one that popped up. I figured that cooking pot might be a good way to catch rain water too... not sure if devs have ever mentioned this type of thing was on the drawing board?

Being totally new to the game but with enough hours invested as to understand why people don't leave their spawn areas... It's taken me a couple hours to navigate my way up to NWAF from having a few mistakes on my part, nav errors, murdered once... taking it slow, safe and easy- found a few items I liked but still don't even have a gun (with ammo)... got the camo I want- HOURS invested in trying to do it right... just to have some jagoff shoot me on sight and have to start all over? If that's the way it's going to be, might as well just stay put- if I get killed then I'll go to some other coastal spawn and run around as fast as I can and grab up as much stuff until the next time I get killed by some KoS dude sitting on the top of a building sniping at people while he fondles himself. Why would anyone venture anywhere? Even in the biggest cities it's the same buildings over and over again... the same wrecked houses... same empty loot- lots of food though as mentioned before. Lots of ammo and no guns or no ammo and lots of guns. Guys server hopping to get teched out so they can go and KoS dudes running T-shirts and crowbars? I say all that- but I'd still like to learn the game... only way to learn what's available out there is to go out there. Unfortunately, having been up to the NWAF and heading back easy now I'm seeing that it's an expansive world filled with repetition. It'll change, I know... it's pre-release... and I made a commitment to be a part of it through it's development. I'm hoping that the result will be I'll truly appreciate where the game lands since I'll have had some exposure to it during the shakeout period.

Yeah- there are always going to be those guys who hit people in non-contact sports too because they think it's fun... Same type of person: Too crappy at a game where EVERYONE plays on an equal field and instead swamps around in the little leagues acting like a badass brawler.

Had kind of an exciting day myself yesterday- though not THAT ^ exciting... I'd wanted to head up to the northern airfield... for some reason that just seemed like the place I wanted to go- inland so not on the coast, but an airfield / base environment so I figured anyone I found would be playing for keeps. No idea why I wanted to go there- I wanted to get teched out a little bit with some camo / raingear (I hear that gorka stuff works well and I can confirm I got rained on a ton and never got damp)... some good boots and maybe even a gun. The server I was on was starting to fill up and now that I've learned about this server hopping thing... I figured I might have my work cut out for me as people drop in from wherever they came from. From my last navigational confirmation I navigated roughly 110 to get to the airbase... but strangely even though I followed that heading almost to the numbers changing direction only to follow the trees where possible I still ended up WAY to the south- I mean... how do you navigate so poorly as to miss a freakin' airbase?! Anyway that was me... I came to a guard tower and realized... holy cow- I've totally pooched this one. Yes, there are towers around the airbase too... but I figured it would have some other prominent landmarks- like, I don't know... a runway? I'm no master navigator- but I figure I should be better than that. Is there a magnetic declination that we should be factoring in? So I ran around in there cautiously but really just wanting to get the F out of there given some of the threads I've read and I managed to navigate due North to get to the airbase. I was able to identify it easily since it seems the only lights that remain lit on the ENTIRE map happen to be the landing lights. ?? The server I was on isn't specific whether persistence is on or not but it does say it restarts every 2 hours without notice- and I'm not sure it would matter but please answer me this: If I put my gear down and the server resets, if gear persistence is on it will be there and if it's turned off then I'll lose it? I put my big gear bag down (black marlin bag) at a specific tree before I started skulking around the base. Specifically because while I was on my way in I saw someone running across from the fire hall over to the ATC- Figured I wouldn't be alone out there. I made sure I knew where I left it and went about my business. Massive anti-climax since I found a bunch of stuff I already had. I steered clear of ATC- but made it into the tent camp... found a few things (like 500 SKS rifles with no ammo) but again thoroughly unremarkable considering the risk. I was going tent to tent carefully when I heard a zed launch nearby. I was looking around for it from cover when it caught my eye darting into the tent NEXT TO THE ONE I WAS IN! Holy $#%$#. I'm not ready for that encounter so I bolted like a cat dropped in the bathtub. Sat still for a couple minutes to figure out how that was going to go down but ended up being dropped (reset?)... the server wouldn't come back up so I guess I hopped into one of the others I'd been in but this one was in mid-day. Hmmmm, not sure about that but I was in a good position- not too exposed so even if I dropped in mid day I would be okay. Unfortunately I'd moved quite a bit since I started getting the "no message for 12-13-14 seconds" etc and where I popped up WAS INCREDIBLY exposed! I went to ground immediately and listed for a couple minutes. Satisfied, I moved to some other cover- a pile of debris next to a crashed truck. I figured that might be a good place to put a hunter's pack that I found down and go skulk around with a lower profile. I put it down and figured I'd wait another couple minutes before committing to the open when I heard another zed launch from left to right into the tent cluster. Then nothing. Someone else is DEFINITELY out there. And he knows what he's doing since I never heard a second strike or anything. #$@%@ I just laid there, one with the pile. This dude SCREAMS past faster than I think a person can run (but I don't think it was a speed hack or anything... think it was just latency or something because he ran by the other direction at normal running speed) one direction and came within about 10 feet of me and my pile. He had a red backpack on of some sort- but he went by fast enough I couldn't see what else. Surprised he didn't see my pack actually since when I put it down it didn't exactly go into the gap beside me... it went right on top of the pile of debris I was laying on. Anyway- he went into 2 more tents and then disappeared into the distance. I stayed still for a few more minutes. When I di di mau after committing to blazing an area I'll check 6 to make sure I'm not being followed. I had NO intention of following this guy but he might pin his tail on me if he saw me running the other direction with my own between my legs. I went back to the fire hall through the trees and with caution but still nothing- then checked ATC and it had a couple of little things I liked so I squished them in with the rest of my gear. I figured I'd blend my other bag with the one I just grabbed, have a feast to make some space then head on my way. Except my bag was nowhere to be found... Is that what "Gear persistence off" means? Or maybe it was because I changed servers? That makes sense now that I write that out... duh. Headed off again making my way up past the castle (gave it a miss since the loot drop is questionable but I'm reading more about bandits / murderers hanging out there)... Making my way towards that NE section where I've read folks are a little less likely to KoS. I was running on the lean side since I'd lost all my supplies (I ate as much as I could then stowed the rest in the bag I lost... leaving me with nothing.)

Uh, okay. I'll keep that in mind.

I'm with you swither... I've seen a few people by the beach but just saw my first person inland today near the NW airport. I was skulking around in the trees and caught him running over to the ATC in the corner of my eye. That was my reminder that I was in contested space and to be careful! I never found much of interest- again, a bunch of ammo but no matching gun. I found an SKS too but no ammo for it. Sigh. I tried a busier server yesterday... but today I stuck to my little corner of nowhere banging around in 4-5 person ones. Still trying to get a feel for how to do everything- also being mindful of how the camo works at distances. I hear that chain link in the middle of the forest too- annoying. There's also a flapping noise that sort of sounds like machine gun fire in the distance... that one had me excited for a bit too- until I heard it about a hundred more times in the next hour. I'm not ready for elektro yet... I kind of want to sit back and watch it all go down from a distance- But I'll keep my guns stowed so guys don't come in and think I'm just sitting there sniping. You're braver than I am Swither.

Yesterday was a bit of a mixed bag of clumsy mistakes, glitches and I also met my first bandit / murderer. I had wondered around Brez for awhile trying to get my bearings on the map I was using (an online one I dug up from around Brez)- trying to find the hospital and water well... Took me awhile unfortunately having made it to the church before I realized I was way too far north. Doubled back and got to the hospital but really didn't find much of any interest. I haven't actually loaded a rifle / gun in about 10 hours of various lives... I'll find loads of ammo and no long rifle... or a variety of weapons and no ammo. Headed back North for a bit to check out some of the larger buildings I'd missed but again came up more or less empty handed. Was tucked away somewhere in Brez reading some points about one of the maps I had brought up and realized this one particular icon I wasn't sure about was a helicopter crash site. Figured I'd head there- but ended up being lazy about it, thinking given that it was night that I could mince my way up the coast and when I got to a boat (marked as an icon on the map) I would jog in 90 degrees and walk until I got there. I got to a point where I was CERTAIN I'd overshot it- then got curious about what the boat icon even meant... ship aground? Dingy? Dock? I ducked down in a place where I thought I'd be hard to see, especially while motionless- and I had an earphone in one ear as I browsed for answers. I heard a "CLAP" and it took me a second before I realized that sounded an awful lot like a near miss... I went through my quick 1+1=2 assessment (proximity to crash site + coastline = bandit) and started to leg it over to a nearby orchard hoping that I could do a few turns through there and break contact, then just go to ground. So I did a quick zigzag through the trees, dropped and rolled about 5 times to give some distance to the spot I'd hoped to drop out of site... The guy was right behind me so in a few seconds this dude in a motorcycle helmet boiled up from the darkness. I tried to talk to him but I'm not 100% sure my mic works- I said "Hello?" ( first in game words) in kind of a nervous voice since I wasn't sure how this was going to play out... and he just put his shotgun to my head and pulled the trigger. I got lazy- going against my own advice to just put the game down and go do something else. Take a little more time and spread it out... Well- I paid the price (again). Next go around I cut a corner and got detected by zombies with only a machete- got hit bad and my rags were soaked with blood so I couldn't use them... while running house to house trying to find something to tear up I got the attention of more zeds and before I knew it I had 3 or 4 of them doing the zed conga-shuffle while I flailed helplessly and gradually bled out. Greatest thing that happened last night turned out to be a total disappointment later. I was doing a recce on a factory... up in the shadows, moving slowly... sticking to the bushes and not depending on grass what with that distance rendering thing- and as I was making my way heard the "Crack... gulp gulp gulp" of someone drinking a soda. I'm POSITIVE I heard the gulp gulp... I froze- certain there was someone in my immediate area but uncertain as to whether or not they popped the silver bullet as a friendly way of getting my attention. Then another. I sat still for probably 5 minutes- free looking around (thanks for the x2 alt hint btw)... waiting for whoever it was to move or give me a sign or just shoot me. Nothing. I decided it was too close to the coast (navigational error brought me WAY too far south east) and now feeling too exposed, so I beat cheeks out of there. I ended up in a totally different part of the map working some other town to the NW and while I moved through the trees I hear that "CRACK" again... I froze... no gulp gulp gulp this time though- but the exact same sound the soda makes when you open it. By the time I'd heard it 3-4 times I realized it was just the sound of me walking over a twig or something... That a known issue? (I mean the fact that it's sounds like the same sound file used- not the fact that you walk on twigs that make noise when they break) Also had a few items visible to my proximity window that had actually clipped through the floor. Another issue I noticed was that I tried to swap out a bag with a larger, darker bag and the one I had dropped through the floor with all my stuff in it. I ended up finding it downstairs (thank god) but it made me start wondering if that's what's happening to other guys when they're switching out gear and it gets lost (I had that happen a few times too- leaves a white imprint on your inventory window but no trace of it anywhere). Anyway- hope you guys don't mind my rambling diatribes...

Had a funny scenario today- came across my second person today. (first one shot one across my bow while I was tucked down in a field... ran to the orchard to save myself and he hunted me down- blamo... ) This second encounter happened about 10 minutes after respawning from the first. I had nothing- he had an axe out at least... not sure what else. Of course being new, I couldn't remember which key was the hands up key... so I was sitting down... clapping... pointing- accidentally gave him the finger but hoped he understood when I looked away. Anyway, I was rehearsing that after the NEXT respawn (I survived that encounter- he left me alone... so I could later be killed by zed.) I'm very, very certain I'm going to come across all kinds in here- hopefully as I get more familiar with folks in the forum I'll see you guys in game.

Good story there Halp. I read yesterday about the crying... I think it's folks who are sick from being injured by zombies- Either that or a troll... sounds like there have been a couple of instances of that reported throughout the forums. I got caught in the crossfire of the update / DDOS combi-vent yesterday and didn't get any real good time in. Well... about 2 hours that I mostly spent looting empty buildings near the coast trying to make preparations for going inland. I did, however, wind up with my first zombie encounter- first SURVIVED encounter. The last one I'd spawned into a zedfest and got caught in some clipping infested dungeon-house with zombies half in half out of the walls all around me as well as dropping through the floor. I'm not complaining- I am aware of what I signed up for... but the guy who ended up in the floor gnarled me so bad I bled out. Through reading all the guides I can find (most of which are about 8-10 months old) it seems adviseable to get off the coast as soon as possible. I wanted to- but I couldn't find anything I needed for the trek. Even if I didn't have a weapon I figured I could probably manage getting off the beaten path and surviving through stealth (it was night on the server). I ended up spawning and heading generally north, hitting a little town and then arriving at a factory that had been picked out. I did find a fire axe and a couple cans of cola. By the time I was done I had also found a screwdriver and a couple cans o' goodies that I consumed until I was energized and not registering as hungry / thirsty / cold. I made my way west but while free-looking around I got a bit disorienated (since it snaps you back to a direction when you let go of it... I realized after a short bit I wasn't sure if it was snapping me back to where I was last free-looking or snapped me back to the direction I was walking... I figured it out eventually but not until I was turned around.) Before I knew it I was practically due north of the factory (with the orchard just west / north of it). By now I was getting frustrated (rookie move, I know) so I started running... taking additional risks since it wasn't a highly populated server and it being night. I sprint / drifted for a bit at a time and at one point came to a halt to see a dark shape come out from behind a small shed. I couldn't tell right away if it was just some dude coming over to kill me or a zombie. By the time it came around the corner and had moved in a straight enough line for me to figure out it was likely a zed- I'd had a chance to draw my trusty fire axe and give him a good wallop. Also give me a chance to practice the circling maneuver I'd been watching in some videos. Worked well- so thanks to all. Once I was done there I surrendered to the notion that I was going to head up north towards Brez- but I headed inland a bit so I could stay in the shadows and the clutter... probably where everyone else goes, unfortunately. At some point I got disco'd because of "confirm changes" or something like that I don't remember and had to turn in. I did find I was getting a little bored but at the same time it's that transcendence to boredom that causes you to get lazy and careless... and dead. Better to find a spot to hide away and go do something else for awhile.

Yes- coming from the games I have, this kind of open communication with the community is VERY MUCH appreciated. Those communities ruined that possibility from CONSTANTLY whining about everything- whether it was good or bad. Good wasn't good enough and bad- well... it was bad. Hope they get things back upright before they clock out on Friday afternoon...

Eh guys... very new to the game and still learning the ropes. Been doing a lot of reading of various guides and I appreciate all the input from the community. Joined a relatively small server population and spawned in Krutoy Cap... did a quick search of the buildings to the north then promptly angled west inland. Came across a couple of farm houses with some regular sized barns and grabbed a couple items. Saw some lime / tomato seeds there- I imagine that's for growing gardens etc once you figure out a base location... I haven't read about how long it takes for anything to grow? Also... I'm getting cold all the time even mid-day so is weather a factor? Anyway... Kept moving west and at some point had to leave the game and come back a few hours later. I found a bush and racked out for a few hours. When I got back to the game, I reloaded and sat still for a few minutes listening for any activity. While I was there, this fricken huge deer with an enormous rack was walking past slightly up the hill. That was pretty neat. I watched it do its thing and went back about my business. The fact that it was alive and not being shot at was reassuring to me- meant I was likely alone out there. I continued west and bumped into another couple small buildings. I found a compass and was using the map on that STALKER guide to get a bit of an idea as to where I was. Didn't have any real landmarks except I could see the castle waaaaaaaaaay off in the distance. Gave me a bit of perspective of where I was (I reversed the bearing from the castle to me and just drew a rough line on the map so I knew I was somewhere near that line) and I came across a road I was able to tentitively identify from a fork heading in a certain direction. I just needed to head up and over a nearby ridge to confirm a town was there... and it was. I confirmed I was near MSTA. After sitting back and watching it for awhile from cover I made my way through some of the bigger houses... I didn't see any movement at all around MSTA- except a boar I could see making its way around a field slightly north. I had no real weapons (cough- actually, had weapons but no bullets) so I left it alone. I didn't want to spend too much time there but found enough supplies to get energized, watered and fed. Also found some warmer clothing to manage that part of the problem. Once I left I zig zagged my way north with the intention of hitting the next town up and once I got into the thicker trees I huddled down and waited to see if someone was following me. Brings me to the question about grass and cover... I know the draw distance restricts how far away grass is actually visible... while our characters remain openly visible... I tend to hide under trees or closer to bushes to break up my outline / profile- is that an effective practice? Satisfied that I wasn't being followed, I resumed my trek through the trees, keeping to the shadows and my head on a swivel. I wasn't going super tactical or anything... There was 5 people on the server at the time so I was taking appropriate precautions. In my travels I stumbled into a couple cans of spray paint so I painted my SKS just for the novelty of it- but didn't have anything else to paint. I wish there was a way to soil some of the brighter coloured bags... put the bag in the mud or something... Probably not THAT big a deal but I have my eyes open for darker coloured dry bags / backpacks. I made my way down a hill and caught a glimpse of a few buildings in the distance that were close to where I expected them to be... so I made my way over to a good vantage point to do a quick distant recce. The plan is to sit there for a few minutes and just watch for any activity whatsoever... knowing full well that someone else could be looking down on it in the same fashion from elsewhere- but again... 5 guys in there... what are the odds? I'm reading 5% chance of running into someone- per person in the sever. I'm keeping my eyes open for the fire axe since I hear that's the best melee weapon around so far (or at least one of the top)... need that can opener so I stop spilling my food everywhere. Peaches please... oh yeah, and ammo / clips for my SKS! That was pretty much my first day in DayZ and I was pretty stoked about it!

I'm very, very new and have yet to encounter anyone but this thread has been a real eye opener. I've played a few hours on one server and have been mincing about doing my thing and being pretty cautious- The server only has 5 people in it generally... maybe a few more but everywhere I go has open doors so I know folks have been through. No way to tell how recently, unfortunately, so I'm always on my guard. A little slow going but paradoxically that's part of the thrill! I know my intent won't be to kill anyone I come across- I still have to figure out this whole chat thing (very, very new)... as I get my skills up and start feeling more comfortable with the game I'll migrate to bigger servers with more people in them. Anyway- thanks for this thread... it's highlighted the fact that there are all manners of betrayal and honour available in the game which I guess is a part of what makes it so much fun. I imagine at some point I'll have some civvie tac'd out dude with pockets full of goodies with the intention of cautiously helping or protecting those who need it. Watch them from afar until I see they're flailing and then go down and help them out- knowing they may just be bait for someone doing the reverse of what I'm doing in hopes of scavenging my gear. Oh my! What an adventure this is going to be!

Eh guys... first post and obviously a total noob. Have a little arma3 experience but not much- and none with the Dayz mod. Got into the game a very short time ago and still learning the ropes but I learned early on that it can be a very harsh and cruel world out there. Looking forward to learning all I can about surviving out there- but my first lesson from these forums seems to be "trust nobody." Be that as it may... I am not sure that is advice I can easily take- I am more of a team player and enjoy those kinds of games a little more. Guess we'll just have to wait and see! Anyway- the adventure continues!
