Kind of- I mean if the whole concept here is the badge of honour then how do you accomplish the same results with females. I mean- not everyone gets a trophy but when we're talking about how to raise the "value" of a character I think that both should be given "something" to balance them out.

There is another very similar mine complex right beside Solnichniy... that would have been my first guess. I can't look right now and verify whether it's the same door but perhaps someone remembers it or is close enough to check it out?

All good discussion. I thank you! People need to value their life more than they value the gear... But in a game- I'm not sure exactly how you do that other than some of the points I mentioned already about enhancing the senses and skills / crafting speed perhaps over time. You're new? Then it takes a long time to craft anything or bandage. Been in there for a hundred hours... you craft like a boss. That coupled with a respawn timer that gets longer with the more you use it... Now then... how many 0000s and 11111s do I need to type to make that happen? How long? Perhaps a couple days? I'm all about realistic expectations.

Turns out I will be really patient since I logged back in last night to see what I was going to have to deal with and my old guy was back in action! I'm not sure if it'll be the same for everyone but here's hoping for all of you.

Had a little mini victory tonight. A big shout out to the devs for getting that character wipe / database back up and running. Was good to see my old character back! Thank you! Sitting up on my own around Svet for only a couple minutes before I noticed some movement by the police station... A military zombie with helmet. Probably not worth the shot on its own since I'd already ranged the police station and I didn't want to give my position away for nothing. But looking closer, I noticed he wasn't there for no idle purpose- instead he was shadowing a freshie inside the station. I caught a glimpse of him on the bottom floor in the jail cell. Bit of a bonehead move on my part- I have my long range shooting keys on the keyboard so clicking the mouse doesn't make it move slightly. Anyway, between this computer and my home computer for some unknown reason I'm still not sure of I had the hold breath and shooting keys reversed. I'd been home playing for a few days so I was used to that setup- today I went to hold my breath and- BANG! Crap- no idea where that went since the reload happens automatically. I either hit the zed or disturbed it since it started running around. I apparently excited the fresh since he started running around also. Fresh ended up back in the cell- maybe locked himself in to protect himself from the zed... He stood still inside the room and as a result the zed stood still under the window. 498 meters by my map calculations... Perfect! One more shot and the zed dropped... fresh went closer to the window- not sure if he knew what was up or if he could hear any of that from inside. I try to think what I'd be thinking about if the same thing had happened to me. I'm running from a zombie that ends up dead... then no more shooting. Hmmm- someone's watching out for me! Well- that's the intention anyway. I lost track of fresh and didn't see anyone else again. He probably dayz'd it and assumed I was shooting everything within range so logged to another pub. Ah well. I felt good for trying to help him out.

Funny. I committed some atrocities the other night and wanted to start up just such a thread. To the guys on the [NANA] server in svet a couple days ago near the well on the south west side of town. One of you who died first had a blue dry bag on. The second of the couple was more green- I saw you guys meet at the police station. You then moved west where I engaged you. I had no real definitive reason to kill you but I did anyway because I was really mad at geared characters at that moment- especially pairs. I didn't feel good about it. Keep moving!

Such a simple concept but yet one that would add a degree of value to something other than gear. Thing I ran into in another thread talking about this feature was what is the female character equivalent? Braids? Dreads? Longer hair?

I'll be really patient if I can log in and have my guy back ;)

We do have a great system going there. I laughed my head near off at the finger in bum thing since I could hear the transaction through steam chat. I did see the rifle and did call it out. Bam hadn't seen it and told me he only had an axe. Nice thing about being up there is it takes more patience than skill. So it works for me. Ranging different buildings for references of distance so I can quickly engage with reasonably accurate ranges without a range finder. We've also labeled the cross streets with a letter / number combo to make locations easier to describe. In terms of accomplishing anything I'd like to take a bite out of the suicides. Shoot them in the leg before they get to the ladder and make them work for it... I imagine the docks at svet would be literally crawling with freshies trying desperately to kill themselves... Why am I laughing out loud right now?

Hoping someone has some insights on the actual planned concept at all? I agree with up to 15 minutes of sitting in the corner during a suicide or fall related death and also with the sliding scale based on number of attempts. One other slightly related concept is the absence of any benefit for your character surviving other than your gear- which people generally kill you for. Those concepts work against one another. If there were more internal perks- enhanced vision, better hearing, better speed or endurance or both. A beard (no benefit other than a bragging right for the male characters. The women could... Uh... Boast hairy armpits?) Perks that people can't kill you to steal. The reason I connect the two is if people are more attached to their character than their gear the aspect of pvp may be less desirable and living more rewarding.

I just came out of a session- I never play this early and look at the result... Anyway- I'm having the same issues across the usual public hives I play- each one of them resets my character to fresh. My first spawn in was good... all the rest were wiped on restart. Hoping they dial us back a day...

Both of these are really, really good possibilities. I remain fearful of my status since I've read of quite a few people who went from fully energized / healthy to dying of starvation during a reset or changing servers. And keep in mind that quite often your character will appear 5-20 seconds or so before you can see. And instead of being crouched under a tree you'll be standing. I had someone spawn into the room I was in once... he was teched out and in Berezino so I killed him (didn't feel great about it but there it is). Not sure what he saw when he actually got in but I suspect it was probably the same you did.

I spawned in down near Kamyshovo and found a winchester sitting in the middle of the road. Obviously grabbed that since I've wanted one for awhile. Found some ammo for it and hit the deer stand to the north for a hunter's scope. Schwab was up in Berezino and I didn't have time to commit to a run all the way there. Instead I cut up through Msta and found a truck. Ran into a tree and got stuck... thought I'd have to walk away from the truck but then thought I'd try cutting the tree down to see if that freed the truck. That worked- so I was back in action. I headed into Berezino (Schwab was gone by then) and pulled over at a guard house since I was relatively fresh. Didn't hear anything going on so hopped out, grabbed a few items I needed and took off again heading north. About 30 seconds later I started taking very rapid fire from somewhere- not sure where. I just pinned it and started jinking left and right trying to avoid getting my tires shot out. I didn't take my hand off the accelerator until I made it to Svet. Once there, I headed back up to my perch to look for bullies but instead ended up watching about half a dozen freshies dive off buildings. I've found that I've lost the art of my crafting skills- things that were second nature for awhile there have been forgotten. I'm starting to dabble with the fires again... cooking is next. Got to try that stick out... see how that works!

I liked that interview- just the fact that he did it is enough for my approval. I was quite interested in the fact that he mentioned he watches twitch streaming for bugs he'd never seen before. I also heard about the 40 heads... wonder if they're going to add different body styles as well with different limitations?

Not wanting to sound sarcastic when I ask this- but when you say a COD clone... what do you mean? Just from the pvp aspect of it or something else? As the game in general shifts gears towards something more representative of a finished concept that makes pvp less prevalent, do you think that it would still suffer the same end?

Yeah- the fall thing is tricky since like you said people do "fall" accidentally if they miss a ladder or whathaveyou. But then again, respawning in the place you started after that kind of event isn't necessarily a bad thing- while if you're just jumping to respawn elsewhere it would be. I thought about putting this in suggestions but thought I'd initiate some discussion on it here so that I could formulate a more appropriate suggestion.

I really tried to be nice for a long time- but I'm losing patience for it. I've pulled shots a few times in the past couple days and lived to regret it. Oh wait... no I didn't. I died immediately and regretted it. Anyone I come across who has a weapon in their hand is going to eat the green wiener. I actually came across a guy last night who proved to be an exception. I saw him approaching from a long way off down the main drag at Berezino and we shouted out to each other from a distance- "Can you hear me?" I called out over global. "Yeah- I hear you!" "I don't want to shoot you but I will so pick your next moves carefully." "How about we put our weapons away-" he suggested as I see him shoulder his long weapon. "This would be a good start." "I appreciate your offer- but unfortunately I'm double carrying so I can't." (I- like everyone else in the game right now- had an AK on my shoulder. I was also hand carrying an SKS... first time I'd carried the SKS. The AK didn't have a mag... but I was looking for one when I came across this guy. Hey- if everyone else has an AK I might as well too). "You need anything?" "9mm ammo if you have any." "No- sorry... there's a guard house behind me, one by the school and one or two behind you. I didn't see any where I came from but maybe the other ones?" "I've checked all but the one behind you..." As we talked we crossed each other from a distance- keeping an eye on one another. Overall it was a smooth transaction. "Good luck out there!" I guess a big part of the skill in this game for those who want it to be more than just force feeding people high velocity ammo is in assessing the odds that a certain encounter will result in something good happening. Guy has a gun in his hand, teched out and you've surprised him? Probably going to have to lay into him with the business. Guy with a cowboy hat on and leathers shouts out to you from a distance and says he could have killed you 5 minutes ago and just wants you to know he's working in the area? Okay... probably not going to expand my carbon footprint all over this guy's center of mass. With that said I encountered my first chicken last night out in the middle of nowhere and I almost shit myself... I'm sure it was no threat to me but it had to die on principle.

No story today (edit... okay, a little bit of a story)- just so impatient right now... not sure what I'm most disappointed in- glitches (expected) or how much I suck at this game (not expected). Schwab and I were looking for bullies in Svet last night and I took my high point. You know the old saying "as a sniper- find the best place imaginable to hide and stay the $#%# away from it." Well- I was knowingly going to a good spot. I'd been there before and I was familiar with it. About 5 minutes into it I started taking fire from somewhere... no idea where. Snuck back in another spot- same thing... shot at constantly. Eventually I got into onto a small platform but then slid into an area I couldn't get out of. I subsequently busted a leg... then gradually died. Went back in by Berezino... killed as a fresh. I spawned in Elektro... running around fresh- killed. (Granted, I kind of asked for that one. Someone was in a house shooting... zombies converged on the house and I followed. I found the house and started running around it saying "Hello! Hello! I'm out here- just so you know." The person came out and started shooting at me... so I ran around (her I think) and the zombies started hitting her. So she started shooting at the zombies and I went in and started punching her. She then killed me. "Hey, I'm not going to let you die... you're a hacker just like me." She ran around and shot a few zombies and she was talking about some punch hack... rambling about different things. I'd already set a respawn but it was waiting for the timer to run out and I could still hear her. Got another character up and running- in a server with 4 people... I was in kelm of all places inside a building. A guy ran into the room I was in (I'd heard him open a door and was waiting). "Go ahead and put your weapon down." Silence. He jumped behind the door. "Sorry- I'll put it down... you scared me!" I could see him glitch through the door... he wasn't shouldering his weapon. I knew what to expect- but his trigger finger was quicker than mine. He dove out from behind the door and just wailed on the trigger. You are dead. Fuck.

Thought I read somewhere about invisible zeds. Do they register hits? I mean zeds in general?

I was unpacking ammo in its slot and it disappeared. I logged back in and it was there... That's why I mention it. Not sure if it always works but if you lose something it's worth a shot if you're able.
