Very annoying bug, needs fix ASAP

I'm sure they'll get right on it when they have time.

    How was your Day(Z)?

Had a bit of a weird night last night with a couple of encounters between Sol and Berezino. We ran into someone only minutes into the server and the conversation was a bit awkward after the initial "how are ya?" "Do you guys have any extra stuff?" "What do you mean by "stuff?" Like weapons and ammo "stuff" or food / water "stuff?"" "Weapons / ammo stuff- I have a lot of food... if you want I can give you guys some human steaks- I have lots of them since I can't find anything else?" "Did you say human steaks?" "Yeah- it's okay... I have tabs." "Is he a cannibal?" someone asked over TS3. "Sounds like it." "Motorcycle helmet?" my hatred for anyone wearing a motorcycle helmet kicked in and the cannibal aspect dogpiled on top of that. "Kill him." Bam got a chance to try the FAL on for size and put a round in his head. "Sick of this cannibal bullshit." I said unceremoniously as I walked past his corpse. Sure the game allows it- but the whole concept is disgusting. Granted we talked about carrying guts around so that we can force feed to a miscreant after they're handcuffed- but everyone has their limits and the whole cannibal thing is ours. We entered Berezino but a few of us were struck by terrible frames- worse than usual- and we needed to turn back south around Chez Eno. Around that time we encountered another guy (also wearing a motorcycle helmet) running down the middle of the road with a Mosin out. We weren't really in helpy helper mode at that point- someone called out to him to get his attention and he turned around with his weapon up so he got shot. He was able to duck out of sight and we collapsed on him. The conversation was pretty neutral and he was surprised to have 5 guys standing over him in 30 seconds. Turned out he was reasonable and we patched him up and sent him back on his way. As we headed back south past Nizhnoye we bumped into a guy with a crossbow / shotgun combination. He was acting very strangely- particularly as our guys started to approach... which we sort of understand given that we all look like we're just marauding the coast looking to kill everything. But this wasn't your normal "you going to kill me now?" kind of response... the guy seemed to be grandstanding- whether he was streaming or shooting a video I'm not sure. I was trying to talk to him and ask him if he needed anything and he simply wouldn't answer me- yet he'd talk to the other guys about how many people we had. "Is my game mic even working?" I asked finally. "Yeah, it's working- he's just not answering you. This is weird." The guy pulled out a shotgun- pointed it in the air and there were a bunch of clicks. "Who is pulling the trigger-" "It's him- but he's stopped talking." "I don't like this..." The entire transaction was strained and unpleasant for all of us- and everyone's spidey senses were in full alarm. Two AKM rounds to the face put us at ease. Why not just leave him to run off on his own? Well- that's the one that comes back to bite you in the ass sometimes and while we're all trying to help others we need to help ourselves first. Closing the back door was an appropriate measure in this case. I logged when we got back to Sol and I'm curious about what happened after I left!

    Helpy helpers

Not as clean as we'd like but we'll work on it... Working a sniper near the factory north of Sol...:

    Bandit or Hero?

Yeah- because this entire franchise depends on what you give a fuck about. Give us all a break.
  5. Okay- I'll give you that...
  6. I hate guys with motorcycle helmets even MOAR now!
  7. Very nicely done. The "Helpy Helpers" approve!

    How was your Day(Z)?

Bit of an unfortunate few days for us in our "Helpy Helper" activities. It started off a couple days ago while DaveB was making his way around in the bus. He had some high speed gear in tow- FN, a couple odds and ends to replenish our supply for the patrols we've been doing on the coast. He stopped at some point between Zelenegorsk and Mishinko and got ambushed by 3 guys on our server... We ended up getting him kitted back out again pretty quickly only to have his character randomly die in the woods while he was the only one in the server later that night. Sigh. I think he spent most of last night trying to get back to the coast with us... Over the last two nights we ended up dropping into relatively high pop servers to continue with our mission of mercy and had rapid contacts around Sol. The first guy in a list of folks I can remember had just downloaded the game... but he was cooperative and we showed him a few things- got him to the well and left him some pumpkins. "Is this area clear?" Houston typed to me over direct chat. "I guess we'll see!" I replied before bidding him adieu. We ran into a couple of other guys but that resulted in nothing spectacular- at least not directly. Hairy and Shell were watching to the north while MK, Schwab and myself were watching to the south. Schwab was talking to someone- or at least trying to when a 6 shot burst of gunfire occurred nearby. "I'm dead!" Hairy exclaimed- shocked. "The guy just came up on me... didn't even know he was there." We collapsed on Hairy- taking great care not to fall into an ambush. It took a bit longer than we wanted, but we cleared the area. Did the guy sneak away? Log? We weren't sure- but he was nowhere to be found. Hairy respawned and eventually ended up rejoining us as we patrolled up north the Zino... It was a thoroughly unremarkable journey and I'm hoping to pick up where we left off this afternoon!

    Ethical Hunting

OP- don't buy into the troll posts. It's just two more guys who won't ever agree with the way you're playing. And that's fine... you can kill them in game and eat them too. (please.)
  10. Do be careful out there folks... just because we're nice doesn't mean that everyone is. We don't expect everyone to "play nice," and they won't- believe me. We lost DaveB, one of the server owners, to an encounter a few days ago- he was murdered in the bus he was driving between zelenegorsk and mishinko. The bus was then driven to the NWAF where it was abandoned. 3 individuals were involved in that transaction- just playing the game the way they wanted... And that's their prerogative. So a quick reminder- if it were all daisies and potpourri I guess it would be pretty boring. It won't be boring.

    Waking up from Unconsciousness

In our experience I think you actually stand before you are "awake." Resulted in a tk during a hairy skirmish we had back in .58 and I'm quite certain it hasn't changed. We caught it on video either way but I agree with the fact you should stay laying down at least until you decide otherwise. If you want to lay there and fake it for a bit then should be your prerogative.
  12. Yeah I saw you in there vlad- if you want to meet up in the world just send us a pm- you too PCs.

    Hey new to the game

Erm... ya. Awesome. Google translate fail. Only google translate could concoct a series of words that made this much sense.
  15. eno

    Hey new to the game

Yeah- everyone gets a medal. The 750 is at the very best an entry level card that when married to an i7 4790K processor is... let's say destined to under perform.

    Hey new to the game

No idea why anyone would recommend the newui to improve graphics when the interface itself is garbage AND won't tell the new player his health status. He'll be dying and have no idea what's up. OP- stay away from the newui setting. As for the rest- lots of links as pointed out. Don't expect miracles from a 750- it's not meant for gaming.
  17. The part of the question that was philosophical.

    How was your Day(Z)?

One thing I realize- and this is nothing on you killawife- but there are so many FUCKING idiots in this game... Just outright hammerheads. Makes me want to kill (in game) anyone who even acts like they know what they're doing. 9 times out of 10 you're going to kill a fucking idiot who is just in there to ruin it. For that 1 guy out of 10- he's going to respond differently to you... there is just something about a fucking asshat versus a guy who is in there for the right reasons... whether it's in his tone, his gear or his behavior- Anyway... a mini-rant... but it gives us all something to think about when we're out there trying to help people. Who are we helping? Where have they come from and where are they going to and to do what? Yeah. That.
  19. While many of us are busy enjoying the game for our own separate reasons I think many of us also sometimes forget what we're doing here in Alpha- or at least what we're "supposed to be doing." Me included. I'll go in game for hours at a time and experience half a dozen bugs- maybe more- and bitch about it a bit then move on with my game routine. But for the HOURS I spend in world with my fingers on shift W running from place to place, how much time do I spend in the bug reporting page actually contributing to making it better? Not a ton... but one of my new year game resolutions is that for every session I spend in game for, say, an hour or more that I spend 10-15 minutes going through the bug tracker and either up-voting issues that have affected me, or adding some that I don't see in the first few pages. If it's a dupe, then it'll be merged by the team managing the page... what do you have to lose that you weren't already willing to give up by playing the alpha in the first place? I think I often just take it for granted that some of the more enthusiastic bug chasers in the game will end up reporting any bug that impacts my play experience and that by some magic that bug will end up getting fixed. In some cases, perhaps this is true- In many other cases it won't. A little additional weight in votes can help to differ attention from a smaller issue to a more critical one... These guys can't do it alone. In exchange for this added vigilance on our part I'm hoping the dev team can go ahead and freshen up the reporting page slightly to account for the emergence of Windows 10... and merge the product / game version entries to reflect current stable and exp game versions. One last quick note of gratitude to the guys that are really committed to finding, testing / taxing and reporting issues and the hours upon hours of inevitable monotony this can cause. As we enter the new year, the work you're putting in (and that which I hope to contribute to) will be helping to make all of our experiences in game that much "moar beta!" Anyone else, like me, feeling like they could do a bit more? Is a few extra minutes a reasonable and practicable commitment to make?
  20. While I don't necessarily agree with what you're saying at certain levels- I can appreciate why you said it and acknowledge that your outlook does describe a great number of things that are wrong with the way they've implemented the bug reporting system. It's completely inadequate to the task but it's "what we have" so I'll use it as best I can. I'm going to continue to recommend that folks at least go in there, create their new "bug report" login and make it the same information as their forum account- get your browser to remember it and you can seamlessly enter it in the future. Find familiar bugs... upvote them. Leave comments. A guy is reporting that the sun is too big and that's not something you think is a big deal? Ignore it. Downvote it... whatever. You see someone reports a glitch that gets you killed at random times while you're interacting with vehicles and this JUST happened to you? Upvote it. Comment. Or do nothing. Keep playing. Like you said- it's voluntary. We've made it this far and while it's not perfect it must have achieved something since BIS has seen no need to improve it- or maybe they are in the background. Maybe they have a new system planned for the beta? Maybe their current reporting system is ALSO an alpha? Mind. Blown. As Emu mentioned earlier- one thing I continue to have such a hard time with is the fact that BIS provided a very early access title to the public and then never really adjusted its reporting process to accommodate the need for more comprehensive reporting tools and procedures. Hopefully it's something they're working on if they're at all interested in getting more objective and applicable input.

    How was your Day(Z)?

Had a relatively quiet night last night with Dave and Harry at different times. It grew to an almost full server but yet traffic through our working area was very light. I saw a few freshies running out of our reach near Nizhnoye but otherwise the area between the factory and Zino was disturbingly quiet. Almost an hour in I had drifted north a bit as Hairy watched to the south and I spotted two guys running south along the tracks about 50 feet from one another. I saw a press vest and a few clothing items but no immediately threatening weapons. "I'm going to go talk to these guys..." "I'll cover you," Hairy said immediately. "I'm coming over." The contact was really cumbersome- looking back at it I think the guy heard me but didn't know how to talk back. So instead he just stood there not moving- probably checking to see what the "talk" button was. As I tried to engage him in conversation the second guy evaporated and this got my spidey senses rambling. "Hello?" the younger player said finally. "I have nothing- I have no weapons. Don't shoot." "I won't shoot- but where is your friend?" "Who?" There was a ton of racket on his end... like he was playing DayZ with a NYE party going on in the background. Very annoying. "Your friend- the guy that was running with you. Where is he?" "We didn't know each other. We were just running the same way." Okay- both had looked relatively fresh so I took some ease with this and given the circumstances trusted it. "Do you need any food or water?" "What?" Background noise. I repeated. "I don't know- this is the first time I've played the game." Under most circumstances I'd have been a little more patient... someone a little older... less background noise... but this really wasn't the alley I wanted to be standing around in for a long period of time. I felt like a bit of a jerk- but finally just gave up on the cacophony in his real life. "Okay well, good luck to you then." He carried on his way and we carried on ours. Dave had stepped out and Hairy introduced me to his friend MK- so we met up at the docks in Nizhnoye and proceeded south to the factory. Almost immediately Hairy spotted a guy crouching on the "sniper hill" south of Nizhnoye. "He's up there crouching behind the red house... blue jacket on... has something in his hands- an axe I think?" MK was first to act. "I'm going to make contact- I hate being watched like this." Hairy and I followed and quickly surrounded the guy who I was to quickly learn on approach (I was playing the negotiator) was not carrying an axe but a crossbow instead. "Hello there-" "Hello," the player replied in a thick accent we would later learn was Spanish. "Just so that you know you are surrounded so I'm going to ask that you not put that crossbow to your shoulder." "I have no arrows." "Okay- well... don't put it to your shoulder. We're here to help- do you need any food or water?" "No- I think I'm okay." During the conversation it sounded like he didn't have a lot of water / food so MK approached him and put some nearby. "Do you know where you are?" "I'm going to meet a friend at... uh... Ch... Cher..." "Chernogorsk?" "Yes! Cherno." "Okay- well you have quite a trek ahead of you. You are currently in Nizhnoye so keep the ocean on your left and follow that main road. You will eventually get there." "Thank you." He took off and we went back to the highway and carried on in the same direction. He stayed in the trees and we motored ahead. As we passed the factory, we saw this guy again. His name was "Martin" pronounced "Martine" and he was quite friendly as he warmed up to us. MK had an idea. "If he's heading to Cherno... why don't we give him a tactical escort?" Let's do it! So after talking to Martin and explaining our intentions we started on our way towards Cherno. His friend was moving east and going through Prigorodki at that time so we asked to meet him in Kamyshovo since at least two of us were running out of game time. Hairy, MK and I formed a diamond around Martin and headed south together. "If you have no ammo, then if we get into a contact with someone- get behind us, okay?" "Yes." Our group was in a nicely spread out formation but though I was "trusting" Martin, I was waiting for that moment for him to stop and take aim at one of us with the crossbow. I relaxed a bit as our correspondence became more conversational. As we ran through 3 Valley MK ended up having to leave. He was double carrying an AK74u and an AKM so he decided he was going to hand over the 74 to Martin along with ammo. He had no room to carry the extra ammo so I told him I'd carry it until we got to our destination and we could sort something out there. "I am dying of starvation," he said as if not really absorbing how significant that was. I threw a bunch of pumpkin slices at him and we topped him up with the good stuff. We carried on to Kamyshovo and I explained to Martin about the importance of the sniper shuffle as we approached this area since it can tend to be quite dangerous. Hairy and I were on high alert as we entered Kamy and neared the police station. "Where is your friend?" "He is on the tracks." "Does he know you are with two other people? He knows not to shoot at us?" "Oh yes! I have told him about you." We made it through Kamy without incident. "Okay- this is where we need to break off. Ahead of you is Elektro- but stay near the tracks and you will find your friend. Be careful!" "Thank you!" We broke contact and headed back to Krutoy to log off. We both felt bad leaving him on his own on the doorstep to danger... kind of like "Hey we're going to escort you until we get to the dangerous part... then you're on your own." But 5am comes early and I was already past my bedtime. It occurred to me later that I forgot to give him the extra ammo for the 74u... Ooops.
  22. Looked pretty good- I liked the music... very immersing. A few times you catch the "I am slowly warming up" messages- a couple of server messages too... Ideally (I'm being picky but hey it is what it is) you'll capture video that doesn't have those. Not sure if you can capture inside the window available inside from the text (so you don't see it no matter what is showing)- I haven't tried editing anything like this yet. I really liked the scenic shots at the beginning... that one of your character at the base of the apartments was downright chilling! You might consider doing it in stages? Starting out with the intro video being mostly scenic... and zombie evasion... then grow into friendly encounters... then combat (or versa vice). something like that anyway... then it can grow and has a direction (your theatrical series that is). Anyway- just a few thoughts.

    Dayz Happy New Year! :)

    No kidding- hello stackable.
  24. So much this ^. Funny thing about that- I do remember Hicks talking in an interview awhile ago that he plays a couple hours in the morning if not every day then frequently. Sets up his cup of coffee and goes in- if he's not playing, maybe he's watching streamers- don't recall exactly but most of you in this thread so far probably remember the reference. He's not the whole dev team, of course... but a person would HAVE to assume that the folks working on bug mashing are using streamers and video recorders as a window into various reported bugs and glitches. One of the things that surprised me was his genuine surprise as he watches streamers and some of the glitches and bugs he notices that he either wasn't aware of or wasn't aware so severely affected gameplay. (This isn't to put words in his mouth- I just remember being surprised at the general comment). I think that's what makes the upvotes so important- yet I look at them now and it's the same issues from last year... back when it was new and fresh. People aren't in there upvoting anymore... as a result that list never really refreshes (unfortunately a lot of the things upvoted the most are still issues lol but that's another issue).
  25. I'm going to bump this since I'm reading a lot about this problem occurring again. I think it happens mostly right after wipes- folks buy one month to get themselves geared up, then distribute their gear onto other servers and then dump their own. This creates a bit of a problem for those of you looking for a place to set up shop- always rolling the dice with whether or not the server owners are going to pull the plug after a month. Well- there are a few of us (including Schwab, DaveB, ColdAtrophy) who are just as tired of this as you are. In August we started sharing the expense of a public server and have really enjoyed it. We are nicely set up in this server and moving to another would be a gross inconvenience- we should know since we recently had to do it because of a server side issue (gameservers, Chicago server.) We're back up on a NY based server and performance has never been better. You may have seen our stories in "How was your DayZ?" in the new player discussion forum... We try to enjoy the game from boundary to boundary- work very hard to give everyone a fair chance during our encounters and would like to think we run the server in a similar fashion. When we had to move, we made sure everyone had lots of time and engaged our regulars to make sure they understood... It's about being fair and respectful since we know it's your time, too. Anyway- This is technically like every other public server out there and there are literally hundreds to choose from- the difference is we wanted a server that we would know would be there for the long haul. If you're looking for something similar, then please feel free and come on in! Please note that the address in the subject line is no longer accurate. Refer to our banners for the proper server address.
