Instantly became hyperthermic and I can't cool off..?
eno replied to Ransurias's topic in New Player Discussion
This is so fucking stupid. I made it through all of yesterday without having this issue... didn't do anything but what I normally do. This time I had to log to deal with some other fucking glitch and came back in dark brown overheating. I've been sitting in a pond for about an hour- with a brief interval out to go get something to drink. I'm still "hot." For most of the last hour I've been simultaneously overheating and promptly cooling off. -
I did figure out the chicken issue thanks to Daveb. I forgot I needed to process the chicken- i.e.: cut it into breasts etc. once I did that it was fine so I can own that error. The tires and other items? I learned from emu I think it was that you can put your hands up and then you can pick the item up. Worth a try.

Logged into DayZ for the first time in a couple months having heard that .60 dropped on stable. I was pretty excited. I logged in near Krutoy Cap and didn't find anything at all... Which is a good sign because I've always been on the side of making the game more survivalist. Headed straight up the hill to my new favourite little watering hole in Tulga and already I'm starting to get warnings about being hungry and thirsty. Checked a few buildings- nothing... found a hoe eventually and figured it might come in handy for planting so I kept that. Tulga has changed quite a bit... But someone just copy and pasted a bunch of other buildings (office building, that log cabin one with the upstairs)... there's a soccer pitch now? It's different but the same ol' stuff. I was disappointed. It wasn't long before I heard a chicken and after looking around for it briefly I decided I'd take it down, start a fire and get some protein in me. I killed it with the hoe and then tried to pick it up. Hide body? All I want to do is pick it up... double click...? Okay, okay... it's been awhile... new UI etc- tried dragging it... nope. I tried everything I could remember but couldn't pick it up. Moved on to a set of garage doors where I found a bus tire and an off road tire. Couldn't pick either of those up either. Found another chicken in my travels and punched this one to death- still couldn't pick it up. I logged.

DayZ Standalone Base Building is almost here! How do you plan to use it?
eno replied to DR. IRISHMIKE's topic in General Discussion
Nevermind the status of persistence- What is it again for the upcoming patch? Every 8 days you need to run around and interact with everything? I'm fine with the idea of perishable items gradually becoming ruined- I'm fine with things that should disappear disappearing over time and frankly 8 days isn't a bad timeline. But if an entire inventory of items is just going to evaporate because I didn't move a single inventory item from A to H in the inventory... that's just a stupid copout lending itself to a less than remarkable shooter. And originally we were told that was all that was needed in .59- except for that was wrong. People wasted a ton of time on that- and yet it sounds like it was working as intended since that's what we're STILL being told is going to happen in .60. So is that ALSO a mistake? Fack... -
sounds like they resolved the server shortage- some of the helpey helpers are out there... however a few of us are just holding off until it's on stable. I must admit I'm looking forward to getting into it again and starting over. Judging by the "EXP" thread the survival aspect is quite a bit higher so that's a refreshing change. Hope everyone else is enjoying something while they wait- me personally? I'm on World of Warships!

YAY! What this game was missing was the need for MORE inventory micromanagement. Already completely undermined the element of survival in exchange for an entirely generic PVP experience... Now we get an opportunity to lose everything in an inventory space if we don't move 1 item from here to there once every 8 days. Fuck this.

Not really so much referring to his playstyle as much as his overall commentary and emphasis about the game development... Either way- just generally grumpy on the whole thing. I used to be able to sustain myself on the game without wanting to just go out and get fingers on the trigger out of sheer boredom... Those days are long gone.
-
Sorry- I disagree. If someone wants to get into the mood then they can conjure up a reason. Not important to you... fine. Some think differently.
-
That's the thing though- how many people are we talking about? A hundred tops per map? Small cruise ship or ferry sinks in eastern europe going somewhere else? Hundred people adrift and wash up on shore randomly like debris from Malaysia Airlines 370. Doesn't even have to be a wreck... just a simple sinking. Doesn't take much imagination to see where its plausible that not every ship chooses when it sinks and where and at what time and regardless of whether the nation nearest the event happens to be in the middle of whatever they want to call this- zombie apocalypse or infestation or infection. Anyway- clearly you're not a fan of it... I literally could care less about it but it's the story I'd heard and it was well within the realms of possibility given the other entirely unrealistic things that are possible within the game's framework.
-
Really? Not sure why any ships ever get in wrecks... on any shoreline- the fact that it was after the "issue" was just the version of the story I'd heard and to be quite honest I didn't mind it. Either way... but of all the things to ask why I'm surprised a ship running aground or foundering out at sea is intriguing.

OKay just assumed it had more spaces because it is quite a bulkier profile. Thanks for the clarification!

Very well put. Also like choosing the menu before you had a kitchen. Hate to rag on these guys since I'm a firm believer it is simply impatience talking and I know nothing about game development. What I do know is that the game has been in a downward slide away from the concept I bought into, and Hicks is a staunch pvp guy and mentions it at every turn... Any coincidence that everything pvp has been sensationalized since the beginning of the community updates? Oh AWESOME! We get choppers and rocket launchers AND a machine gun? SWEET- but only as long as it comes with 4 month lead times on updates. Fuck sakes.

I thought the coastal spawn principle was meant to simulate you actually being the survivor of one of the shipwrecks on the coast and washing up on a foreign shore. Of course that wouldn't explain some of the inland spawns but that was really the only "story" I've ever found relevant to the game concept. Splashing someone down in the middle of some foreign soil while in the throes of an infected / zombie infestation where no locals exist at all is a mired concept and really takes away from any sort of model from which to build.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... They say they have some blockers preventing release of .60... and if the state of vehicles now wasn't a blocker then something must be really and truly fucked to prevent it from at least launching to experimental. Like, start over from scratch type fucked. I'm a DayZ supporter... but when I saw that one of the big issues was the fact that some new "thing" needed to be worked into every gun in the game I thought to myself "Well, fuck you then for adding so many god damned guns before you developed the other content." I smile when I say that- I don't mean it in a fist shaking way- but now whoever's bright idea it was to add 10 guns to any new survival content item is now reaping what he sows. Anywho...

With a bar of soap? s'plain.

Not to mention the fact that a bunch of the in-game replays etc are basically just streamers who are jockeying for "biggest fucking idiot in internet gaming" awards. It's helpful to know that a bunch of people in the DayZ world are douche canoes... but don't let that stop you from playing the game the way you want. If douche is what you like to do, then by all means- but there is room for all styles of gamers within the world of DayZ.

I found three in a duper camp we tossed a couple months ago... haven't seen a stitch since.

You don't tan it- he already said. Wherever you saw you need to tan it is wrong. The boar backpack is my goto- my favourite. Do not tan it. The leather sac is different as he also said... involves more of a process. I think the sac has more storage but is quite a bit bulkier and the colouring is brighter. I haven't tried dying them yet but I suspect if it looks like everything else does when it's coloured it'll look terrible.

It's fine to eat... once the graphic has turned you can eat it.
-
Maybe what I was thinking about is not radiation... maybe it's just the infected ground zero-
-
Cough... yes we can.
-
Pretty sure the concept is already planned? Surprised nobody has said anything about it yet.
-
Nothing in over a week posted... guess I'm not the only one that's bored to death of .59. Here's to .60 gents!
-
Sent you a pm about some of the things we've seen... not sure if talking about that kind of stuff in the open forum is verboten.

It's great to see some regulars in there enjoying the security of setting up their stuff knowing they're not going to get kicked or the server reset for opportunistic reasons. We've had some glitches in the past as you may have noticed on the message of the day but generally gameservers has been supportive.
