Definitely this... The drives are affordable right now but 256 is as small as I would go. Allows you to put a few games on and Windows while not needing to be particularly fussy. You can also then just keep your 1TB for storage of videos, music... whatever. I concur with the statements about the intel i5 4690K- I have a 4670k on my secondary rig and it was fine too even with no overclock... But I don't think they even sell them anymore. But then you're getting a new mobo as well... maybe new RAM as well? (DDR2 / DDR3 difference possibly? Not sure what mobo you have now). By the time you're done it's a new computer. I think the best single step fix for you right now would be the SSD. It will greatly reduce load times etc- but won't obviously resolve the issue as completely as starting from scratch.

Specific to the case we were referencing as opposed to the world that modding can provide to the community for better or for worse- I think you should direct your commentary to the guy who wants the game brought back down to it's most simplistic form: "Good old north pvp squadplay." Why on earth would anyone want to mod DayZ to do what Epoch and the ARMA2 mod is already doing? Basically- rip out all of the survivalist mechanic and just put guns in everyone's hands... oh and in a new map to boot!? Yeah... sounds intriguing and already done.

I just built a new rig... went in looking forward to some blazing performance and I'm left shaking my head. I can't get out of windowed mode, I can't increase the rendering resolution... Most of the settings that help you any of that are locked. Fuck sakes... It gets exhausting after awhile.

I heard an interesting idea the other day- can't remember who to give credit to but undoubtedly one of the Helpy Helpers gang... The comment was something to the effect "I wish when you viewed the thermometer in your inventory that it would show the current temperature in game." This obviously came about as we've been struggling with the overheating issues. It would certainly help you proactively adjust the clothing that you were wearing to suit the conditions... Just a thought.

Did you need to use that alt-tab "hack" to prevent it from shooting in the dark or have they fixed it?

I notice your character isn't showing up either... you might consider verifying integrity of local game files?

Me neither lol... but you know- one minute you're clicking "empty container" and the mouse skips to "drink all" or something similar. Each time was something like that. I heard they fixed the "emptied of gas, refilled with water causes sickness after a few resets" bug- here's hoping since we use them.

Okay that makes sense. In the scenario where you somehow "accidentally" ingest fuel from a jerry can (happened more times to those I have been around than we'd all care to admit) is there a "best practice?" Pretty sure the trick would be to use charcoal tabs (10?) and stay hydrated / fed as much as possible or just park your gear and F11. Is that about right?
