  1. Hell Yeah…. Pure magic...what they're doing..... Seems like a LOT of deep issues are being left unattended....and it will come back and bite this game in the butt, eventually....when the core functionality is so poorly sorted out.
  2. I don't think the lanes are what I'm referring to. It's more like what @Buakawhinted at....like maybe a "Bubble" around character-generated persistence events\objects... (the larger, and more data-laden the object, the greater the lag when a player enters it)? I want to investigate further, because not only is it a potentially Character-ending bug....it really kills your immersion.

    Oh Boy.…. Are the "Complains about Stuff only HE cares about" Forum Filters not working again? My man…. If you can't get over having to spend an hour meeting up with your Group (after spawning in for the first time, which is more realistic than any other way) then just get your butt over to a Community Server that has selective spawns or at least fixed spawns...

    Invisible zombies

    I was attacked in multiple towns near the coast and even once in a small town East of Zeleno. I appears as if an infected gets aggro'd and ends up eventually punching you to death. It still has most of the constraints of a normal AI Zombie (you can sprint away from it, and it cannot get through doors) but you cant see it, hear it, or hurt it. Bumping this for @BetterDeadThanZed as this is also my go-to Community Server....

    the real hardcore survival server

    Yeah... @BetterDeadThanZed is definitely on the right track, folks. This server is shaping up to be a great "Hardcore" server. Right now its a bit of a Mod-Testing time for the KZ server...but it is all geared towards keeping you focused on your safety and your continuing survival. PVP is non-existent, and I think its primarily because the folks that drop in to give it a try usually end up dead a few times simply due to the infected or the environment...and they look for "easier" servers to go around pew-pew-ing. Again...I keep saying that it's just a matter of time before the types of gameplay become more and more specific, based on which Community Server is running which Mods and how their player base develops. Maybe there will eventually be a few public servers run by BI that are immensely Hardcore...just to add variety...but don't count on it....They have maintained that "their" vision is simply to provide what "they" consider to be the gritty survival experience once envisioned by Dean and the early gang of Devs… but this crew of developers are too busy working on more guns and gear to worry about keeping the spirit of the survival game alive.

    @BetterDeadThanZed is referring to his Community Server...and not a Public Server. I strongly suggest you try out a few of them and see if they are more in line with your preferred DayZ experience. That's the whole point of having both Public (standard) server and Private (custom) environments. If you are opposed to loot farming then just find a server that sets the respawn interval longer. You also have no server hopping. To me, it seems that what you are looking for in your DayZ experience is definitely going to be better served in the Community... Cheers!

    Thought the CZ had an internal box magazine... Not the first time....and probably not the last time I am wrong on that! But have spent about 10 hours on the new update and have been in a lot of rural areas with no sign of the CZ or it's magazine....

    Hey! @MorphineJunkie ! Please respond to @ImpulZ on whether you are on a Private of a Public Server...and what it is called. Base building actions are NOT the only things affected...as stated by numerous others. The prompts for drinking, climbing Ladders, and other User Actions do not show up either... It might be a Mod....of course....but let's hear from all you Vanilla Public Server guys and gals....so we can pin these bugs down and squash them!....please. I'll hit a few Public servers tonight to see for myself....but this, again, is smelling like another poorly tested Stable Update to me... Thank God they gave us the SKS and TrackIR….so what if the Infected are back to glitching...and the UI is sluggish. We need helicopters and more guns! and, and, and trucks and Buses....and Bikes and Boats! PS....That last line is what we call, in the industry..."sarcasm" 😉

    Hi @ImpulZ, and thanks for following up! I currently play exclusively on a Community Server (KillinZedz) run by @BetterDeadThanZed. Please connect with him for a better dialogue on the exact server environment. There are various Mods active...all which are geared toward creating a more gritty and authentic survival experience. These user action prompts seem to be missing from other server instances as well, so it might be something that can be sorted out in fairly short order, I hope. Thumbs Up.

    Any action...such as when you are building....and you place materials down (in the Fence or Watchtower inventory) and you equip a tool (such as a hammer, axe, etc.) You do not get the on-screen prompts for "Build Base", "Build Lower Frame", Dismantle, Mount Barbed Wire"....and yes....the big one is the fact that I do not get the triple scroll wheels for the combination lock (however I can set a NEW combination when I equip an unused lock to my hands (the scroll wheels for the combination appear in the lower left edge of my screen, as usual). Very odd....and annoying....as I am effectively either locked in...or locked out of my gates!

    Yeah...It works well...and adds a level of attachment to your character. 1: "You are Dead" 2: Exit 3: Use the bottom right option bar (with the arrows, your character name, and then the big "Play" button) to scroll through to your original character. 4: It helps to click the "customize character" button, even if you don't change anything. This has worked for me every time. 5: Click Apply, Play game. As @Just Caused mentioned...it has to be done every time you die....so... Don't Die. ;-)

  14. That's awesome, guys. Let's start hissy-fits with all the long-time folks around here! I'm next, please! I'm sure you can find a few contradictory or just plain ole' Bullshit statements by me somewhere.... Your post was funny @eno, and your chiming in about the accuracy of your time in the SA is appreciated, Bio…. But, generally speaking, Since the 1.0 release the overall Forum content has become more like a Funeral Home. (and we know who is in the coffin....don't we...) The SA is dead! Long Live the SA! Let's have a great start to the new year, everyone...and just enjoy these Forums for chatting amongst us...and enjoy whatever incarnation of the SA you happen to prefer from Community Servers. All it will take is for ONE talented modder to decide the SA needs divine intervention and we can forget the SA Status Reports ever existed. And maybe by then someone on the Dev Team (freshly fired, probably) will finally reveal exactly what the f%#k they were doing all this time. BTW.... "Nerd Rage" is not a bad thing... We all have had it...and it's pretty damn funny when you think about it...

    "Sadly the release has been set and despite our best efforts the solution will not be ready by then" Does anyone else who has run, managed, or even been part of a team, see something like this and wonder how we managed to get even THIS far with this game? Oh Boy.... If I let someone say this kind of thing towards an already impatient customer base it would be not only embarrassing as hell...it would probably screw me out of half my returning contracts. Sheesh! I wish these guys would just shut the heck up and do what they need to do! The best investment they could have made would have been to hire a full-time PR/Marketing spokesperson to take the flak and to pour the sugar! I said this years ago, when Brian would go on his extended periods of radio silence...and that Tweet is EXACTLY the kind of thing that makes me want to go on a Cherno Snipe-fest!

    Well...as a die-hard PC gamer since DOOM...let's just pretend the console fans are with us on this. ;-) Who knows (and again, that's a problem) what and how the game engine is going to be capable of and whether or not cross-platform play might be doable in the future (and this would indeed be a perfect game for it!) but a large percentage of the paying customers are PC gamers...and keeping "us" interested is still in their best interests.....for now, at least...

    That's the problem, though... You would think that by THIS time....after years of poorly handled communication...and nonsensical decisions by the devs, that we would at least expect to have a reasonable understanding of what was about to go down. We don't. At best we can expect to have a mostly stable existing release....and at worst we will have...well... we really don't know what...and there lies the issue, for me, at least. We should ALL be excited...and we might have been...had the team been better at running the communication side of things.

    The ultimate ray of sunshine for me is the impending flood of fan-driven MODS.... What will pass as a successful DayZ Standalone will be a core game that can be modded back to what it should rightfully have been (or whatever incarnation suits the particular player group) without too many "show-stopping" limitations in the engine (which is why the SA was started in the first place). Its a compromise...but it works. I paid 40 bucks for each copy of DayZSA I own....and I will gladly part with twice that for a good Mod that fits my narrative of what I expect. ....and especially if it comes from someone who clearly is as passionate and enthusiastic about it as I.

    Dude? This is a discussion Forum. Regardless of the point.....it is a point "of view" and therefore has as much a place here as any others. POVs have a special place here....simply because they are 100% Biased....that's the whole idea... It's a personal observation. This last post of yours has the sound of someone who has lost that perspective and you should dial it back a tad, lest you wander into the realm of hypocrisy you despise so much. Right now...at this point in the Standalone saga, we are facing a critical milestone where either it will pass...or it will fail. And because there are now a wide array of fans/players/followers there will be a wide range of reactions to whatever comes next. At this point...it is fairly safe to ASSUME that what will be presented will definitely be a huge disappointment to the older (by this I mean long-term) supporters but might not be bad for people that have bought in to the 0.63 version of DayZ..... The Forum is cathartic...regardless of the content...as we have all used it to vent, cheer, warn, laugh, and rage at whatever has transpired. You are better than that, and we all have been there. Cheers!

    Ding! Hope people recognize the significance of what you just said, there..... That perfectly describes the current Standalone... When I read what they say in the SRs and other posts I cant help but think just how uninspired and disconnected they have become. But even if the development has become more about the end-goals and finalizing what they consider to the "base" experience (even though this is a fabricated delusion), they will never be able to restore the confidence and support of the people (like us) WHO ORIGINALLY CHOSE TO INVEST IN, AND SUPPORT THE ORIGINAL VISION OF WHAT THE STANDALONE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. Somewhere between the time Hicks jumped ship, and Peter and Eugen becoming the leads, we lost the connection between our expectations and the original vision. That's an inherent risk with any project that is left too long on the burner...without a chef to stir the pot and keep the recipe true to its roots, it can turn into something that might be "good"...or even "delicious"....but it won't be what we were expecting...and personally, that's what I was saving my place at the table for.

    Yeah....Exactly right, my man.... But ever since 0.63 I started thinking about the whole group responsible for the Standalone as a bunch of amateurs, with very little in the way of proper oversight. What comes out of their SRs is scattered gibberish and their approach to getting this great game to a point where it can stand on its' merits is just mind-numbing. I laugh now...and it helps. I play each build and I make the most out of them...but now I just don't give a damn about what "they" have to say...or what is promised/scheduled. I intentionally disassociate the term "1.0" with the game state...and I pretend it is just an indie game, in it's infancy. It's a big leap, mind you....and those who have years of waiting under their belts can say what they want (and they truly deserve the time to say it) but it's been over a year since the DayZ team have behaved in a manner that respects the paying customer. Remember that ridiculous video from the gang at that Expo? (can't remember exactly) where they came out with the whole "In Beta We Trust"? Well....We trusted... No more.... I paid for two copies...and I play....and I now just ignore my inner voice that asks where all the SIMPLE stuff is and when the OBVIOUS fixes will be. Perhaps that's what Peter and the rest of the kids are actually hoping for? Pay them...and then go away with empty promises and outright lies. I'm a busy guy, with real-world responsibilities, a hard job, family, and the usual stresses and concerns that go along with all that... I have chosen DayZ as my personal "head check" time...where I can switch off the crap that matters...for the crap that does not. There are a shit-ton of things lining up to piss us off in the real world...and I refuse to let a terrible game development team count as one of them. Cheers!
