    Status Report - July 2019

Just would have been enough for them to have continued updating the feature/content list they had going for a VERY short period of time. The colored check boxes were ALL too revealing and I guess they realized it made it too easy for us customers to see just how poor their deliverables were. And who else wanted that thing pinned on these forums....in front of all the Status Reports? Again....nothing keeps you as honest as a bright shining billboard plastered with WRITTEN commitments! Even given how things have gone down regarding the promises or best-guesses from us.....popping in to these forums and having a quick glance on the Game ProgressTracker would have alleviated LOT of our frustrated and confused posts. methinks.... Or....Am I just not privy to the whereabouts of that tracker? I tried a quick search. but came up empty.

    Car Dynamics (spawning, glitching, etc.)

I personally have only had ONE type of vehicle despawn on me and that is the Blue LADA. The Gunter has yet to act up and the Olga has been extremely reliable and faithful for remaining where I leave it. On a Community Modded Server there seems to be only ONE regular that the vehicles have despawned on, and the rest of us have only encountered the very rare occasion of it. I know the vehicles are still a LONG way off from being what they should be....but again....it has been my consistent experience that the Olga and Gunter seem to stay in place at least. I can get through many hours of driving and only rarely do I experience the stuttering de-sync and it is usually when a high-ping player is on (not positive this is related though). I hit a Vanilla server every once in a while and vehicles definitely seem to be a hell of a lot more flaky and unpredictable. Coincidence? Dunno. But again.... It would be interesting to know if there is a greater likelihood of vanishing cars on Vanilla versus Community Modded. Maybe making even slight changes to their spawn conditions, or their spawn timers might be having an effect?
  3. As of now....in the state the Engine is in (Renderer more appropriately)…. Does nVidia or AMD have any clear advantages? As I look to the next graphics card(s) for my system I want to make as educated a " guess " as possible to maximize my frames and my overall immersion. The 1080s and 2080s are nice, and all that...but the AMD cards (despite the power draws) are a much better value for framerate unless you think RTX is sexy. I currently run a pair of R9-290X's in Crossfire and my frames are a decent 60+ on HIGH settings...so not panicking yet...but this game probably prefers one chipset over the other. Looking for opinions from the folks that developed the game, only, please....been in the PC business for a long time so I already know all the legacy arguments. Thanks in Advance.

    Car Dynamics (spawning, glitching, etc.)

Just to clarify @drgullen, Are the experiences you listed above primarily on Vanilla Public Servers?
  5. Actually....You know what? @ImpulZ can you please just kill this Topic? I just remembered just how infantile and bored most of the "veteran" SA supporters have become in this Forum. I'm "self important" though....so it's probably all MY fault! 😉

DayZ is launching on PlayStation 4!

PC player, here....feeling your pain, my man. Your post outlines what a great many also feel. The potential is there...but the folks at BI are just not good enough (or not managed well enough) to get DayZ up to where we ALL want it to be. Keep the faith...and perhaps there can be salvation in the form of a console MOD? Not sure how that works (if it can at all) but the Modding Community and the vast array of Community-run PC servers have really helped to keep DayZ evolving.....despite the developers' best efforts to piss us off completely.

DayZ is launching on PlayStation 4!

Facepalm from all the ALPHA PC supporters.... ….facepalm....
  8. The answer to that question might finally shed light on what Bohemia is doing with this title.....

Plate carriers, why limited to 1 colour

Please understand that there are far greater issues still to be taken care of before they bring back the ability to spray paint weapons/equipment or provide a multitude of colors for all the gear. I honestly feel that the ability to spray paint items will EVENTUALLY make it possible to customize items (as it was in the early builds).

Is this game officialy dead ?

Agreed. And please take it as merely a rather frustrated rant directed to no one in particular. I am sure you have had your fair share of assumptive hostility due to the way the SA has gone. I wandered over the line a tad, and forgive my decision to make it personal. Please let me explain: I do not share your perspective on what constitutes fair work balance with respects to customer-facing support, as we live in a global economy especially where e-commerce is concerned....but it is the more popular of the two sides at this point. "Crunch Time" is trendy now...but it is a necessary evil and one that spans our history as a market economy-driven culture. It is ultimately the responsibility of the worker to decide if they wish to participate or not. Capitalism depends on it. Giving voice to common issues with deep roots to our past is simply easier now with social media. I can speak from personal experience on several levels within the IT industry when I say that having a "post-milestone" event is never a good thing (that's what we used to call it...so the Execs would feel less like it was a systemic failure on their part to manage the damn projects better) BUT finding out how the folks in the weeds respond to these challenges is a definitive metric in determining their commitment to the company in a broad sense. There has been...and will ALWAYS be extremes to this practice, but it's business...it's not pleasure. A company is in it for profit and you are in it for the same reason. Both parties are aligned on that point...it's just a question of who does the sh&%ting and who does the shovelling. So, in summary. I am at a point with DayZ where my negativity is mostly due to my own perception of just how poorly the company has run this project, and less about the actual effectiveness of the product being created...out of principal, I suppose...but to me that is more important than the result. (and to you as well, it seems, but for different cause/effect). Your principals do not align with mine and that's what drives great conversations....but we will never meet beyond these characters on our monitors so I will offer my apology once again and my promise to be less flippant and a tad more focused when submitting my comments on this Forum. Cheers! (and get back to work, dammit!) 😉

Is this game officialy dead ?

Thanks for the response, though. I know you're not a DayZ dev. I know it is unlikely that you get compensated for moderating a forum. It sure sounds like you do not believe in working a single minute more than you absolutely HAVE to.... You don't have the answers, so No.... No further questions. I DO, However, appreciate the work you guys do here....to keep the peace and to make sense of it all.

    TRIGGERED......

Is this game officialy dead ?

What the HELL? Seriously? How does your comment at all help this conversation? I swear you guys do this on purpose just to get the Forums livened up for a while.... If you HONESTLY feel it beyond reasonable to take a few minutes now and then to pick up your cell phone or laptop or whatever connected device you happen to have and browse the Forums, just to keep relevant and up to speed on the community.....then this is not your calling, my man....clearly. You actually equate being a Doctor to being a Game Developer? (or you did not choose your analogy very wisely at least) I can now see why "we" barely hear from you guys anymore....as it seems you do more harm than good when you offer these kinds of comments. The majority of folks here, who have stayed with this game for a while now, are looking for a clear sign that Bohemia Interactive is GENUINELY interested in customer feedback and is responsive when asked by a great many of those customers to be more forthcoming with therir plans and intentions for this title going forward. Your chiming in with the Soapbox reference and a plea for us all to have mercy on you because you don't "work" the Forums on your days off is simply not smart. It is indicative of the way "we" feel we have been treated by this Game Company and it is not moving the discussion forwards in any way. If you are a volunteer, then so be it...you should by now recognize that moderating these forums is perhaps a little more time-consuming than you are capable of at this point in your life and we would appreciate that you move this responsibility on to someone who may be more willing to commit a few more hours a week toward keeping us up to date with any news. And also helping to bridge the gap between developers and their audience. If you do this and are getting "paid" for it.....then please connect me to your manager. If there is no "news", or no "updates", or no dialogue at all coming from the Developers of this title....then it pretty much kills the games chances of being taken seriously, sorry. One of those three activities just HAS to be visible to the customer at any give time if not all at the same time... What can possibly be worse than bad News?...… I'll tell you...… it's NO NEWS!
  15. Excuse me, but there simply MUST be a better way, then, to format the updates/news so that it "feels" progressive and informative. I cannot stress enough how disheartening it is, for a fan of the SA such as myself, to not have a solid foundation to base our expectations on, going forward. I can watch from my PC screen...as it happens EVERY time a new build hits the servers....A brand new batch of bugs, (and remarkably a lot of OLD ones!) and a list of features/content that show no signs of completion, manage to create the largest part of the forum discussions and comments. I am as guilty as the next person...when I realize I am bitching about something that never ACTUALLY was "promised" at the time...however we invariably make stuff up and fabricate our OWN expectations because the level of communication is just not cohesive and definitive. IMHO....naturally 😉
  16. Keep saying it! That's all we have left! I would consider it also a travesty if the Dev Team gets any sort of credit for a job well done.
  17. If you want to take a break from the current craziness that is Stable Build 1.02.... Head over to the FOCUSED FEEDBACK and STATUS REPORTS discussion thread and start from the beginning.....when @SmashT started the public chronicling of the transformation of Dean's vision. It's really quite interesting...and it helps give you a overall perspective on how and why we have arrived at this point. I was closely following the Alpha since it was released back in 2013 and I was reminded on many occasions throughout this discussion thread about the many factors that contributed to, and controlled how we got so off the rails with the Standalone. Interesting....and slightly reassuring to know that those who still support the game....but despise the development decisions (and the team's ability to deliver on their goals) are still correct in their assumptions. This could almost be a teaching plan for anyone wanting to start a project management company.... "This is how NOT to do it"! 😉
  18. I think the responses will all be basically the same for everyone.... Post 1.0 is a big failure...and updates are few, and extremely poor as far as QA. Content is still lacking. Devs still seem unaware just how bad they are doing. I thought 1.0 would at least be stable and would be evolving with some content and features gradually making their way into the builds....but this is not the case. I would have finally thrown in the towel (especially now that the winter has finally f#*ked off!) and looked elsewhere for my gaming fix...but fortunately discovered that modded servers are a great way of finding new ways to keep it interesting and fun. Damn!...there I go promoting the Community Servers again....Sorry folks! 😜

Why i would prefer bikes over cars

As much as I hate to admit it... I think they have already implemented helicopters…. Every time my LADA bounces around and then launches in to lower Earth orbit I feel like either an attack chopper pilot or an astronaut.... Soon to be dead, mind you... But...on bikes.... It seems to be one of those things that you simply MUST have in a game like this one. Call it a no-brainer, if you want.... but bikes are one of those things that you expect to be an option in a post-devastation/eradication world....more than ANY motorized option, especially. It should have been a "must-have" from the start...and maybe it might have contributed to positive advancements in their new game engine as well....as the requirements would have given them higher goals in their optimizations, perhaps.... This is all based on the premise that DayZ SA is still meant to be a hardcore Survival game, mind you.
  20. Just wondering if anyone out there has a map that displays the actual sections of the C+ map.... The reason I'm asking is because of the crazy lag you experience when transitioning into a section that has a large base (or multiple bases). It's not the end of the world when on foot...but when I have friendly survivors wanting to meet me at my base in their car 50% of the time they end up either dead with a wrecked car...or just plain wrecking their car. I have identified a few exact transitions around the Zeleno area, but would like to see the entire layout if possible. Thanks for any suggestions, Cheers!
  21. Hell Yeah…. Pure magic...what they're doing..... Seems like a LOT of deep issues are being left unattended....and it will come back and bite this game in the butt, eventually....when the core functionality is so poorly sorted out.
  22. I don't think the lanes are what I'm referring to. It's more like what @Buakawhinted at....like maybe a "Bubble" around character-generated persistence events\objects... (the larger, and more data-laden the object, the greater the lag when a player enters it)? I want to investigate further, because not only is it a potentially Character-ending bug....it really kills your immersion.

    Spawn with friends system

Oh Boy.…. Are the "Complains about Stuff only HE cares about" Forum Filters not working again? My man…. If you can't get over having to spend an hour meeting up with your Group (after spawning in for the first time, which is more realistic than any other way) then just get your butt over to a Community Server that has selective spawns or at least fixed spawns...
  24. philbur

    Invisible zombies

I was attacked in multiple towns near the coast and even once in a small town East of Zeleno. I appears as if an infected gets aggro'd and ends up eventually punching you to death. It still has most of the constraints of a normal AI Zombie (you can sprint away from it, and it cannot get through doors) but you cant see it, hear it, or hurt it. Bumping this for @BetterDeadThanZed as this is also my go-to Community Server....
  25. philbur

    the real hardcore survival server

Yeah... @BetterDeadThanZed is definitely on the right track, folks. This server is shaping up to be a great "Hardcore" server. Right now its a bit of a Mod-Testing time for the KZ server...but it is all geared towards keeping you focused on your safety and your continuing survival. PVP is non-existent, and I think its primarily because the folks that drop in to give it a try usually end up dead a few times simply due to the infected or the environment...and they look for "easier" servers to go around pew-pew-ing. Again...I keep saying that it's just a matter of time before the types of gameplay become more and more specific, based on which Community Server is running which Mods and how their player base develops. Maybe there will eventually be a few public servers run by BI that are immensely Hardcore...just to add variety...but don't count on it....They have maintained that "their" vision is simply to provide what "they" consider to be the gritty survival experience once envisioned by Dean and the early gang of Devs… but this crew of developers are too busy working on more guns and gear to worry about keeping the spirit of the survival game alive.
