  1. OK. see you in-game tomorrow. I have lugged it around for awhile now but time to let it go now.
  2. Anyone want an SVD? I will be online in a couple hours (for a couple hours) just messing about around Stary. PM me and I'll give you a location.
  3. I am in-game now. Going to toss my SVD and my AUG. Both have two mags each and lots of ammo. Anyone interested? TastforBrains......this means you! I would hate to just trust that persistence will keep these babies warm for whom ever wants them so that's why I am trying to hold on to them until I can swap with someone. Just found a Longhorn....so just need a model 70 or CZ and some rounds!

    Bayonets?

I definitely saw many of them in the typical locations (all on a public server) but this was early last week. Does that jive with the "wipe bug"? I don't post stuff like this unless I am sure...so if my timeline was off I apologize. Now, of course, I'm off to see for myself!

    Bayonets?

The bipods are in-game, don't worry. You need to hit the NWAF, though....guaranteed you will find many of them in the tents. The Zeleno Barracks as well.

    Newbie keybinding problem

Ah yes...the dreaded "Inventory Screen Freeze" This is a bug that has been around since the beginning and is covered in the old Bug Report as being logged and is something that will be addressed. I "think" the Arma Interface is a deeper problem that may, or may not get overhauled now that the engine is being swapped out but I sure hope so...

    Trading Post

Going to be online for a few hours tonight.... I have an SVD and an AUG, both have two mags. Looking to trade for Model 70 and a Longhorn. PM me if interested.
  8. Hey All. I am back in town and want to get on for a few hours tonight. If anyone wants to swap for my SVD and my AUG let me know. I have mags for both. Looking for a Winchester and a Longhorn and a pocketful of ammo.
  9. I highly suggest a 850watt Gold or Platinum certified Power Supply as well. A lot of flakey MB "problems" are cured by good, clean power. All the more important if you are running an Nvidia product. I find it ridiculous that the PCIE bus is being used for even the so-called "budget" cards, as by now even THEY are drawing an awfully large amount of power. As mentioned, if you can wait for a bit, the non-reference cards will start to show up and prices will bump down for both manufacturers as a result.
  10. To the OP. You should just go with the best performer for the money you want to spend. Go to Tom's Hardware and read the latest reviews. Go to your local PC store (not a department store) and see what sells the best. If you have a dedicated gaming rig then pick a manufacturer based on their ability to deliver the best experience for your specific games of choice. I have been using pretty high-end PCs since the early 90's (had my own store) and over that time I have found that ANY top-tier card will work well....it's the related things that cause someone to either praise or hate their cards. (things like fan noise when they get hot, driver interface, and software that supports it.). I generally don't need to do a full build for three or four years at a time using this methodology Currently I am running the R290x cards in CFX because my way of doing things is I buy the best card of the two companies and when games get too demanding for it I just buy a second card (at about half the price of the original) and stretch my gaming goodness for another year, at least. My advice is this. Don't get a reference card. Get one from the aftermarket companies. These all have better cooling solutions and usually have a small overclock thrown in. AMD cards run cooler because they don't suck as much power, and therefore they are much quieter. There is nothing "wrong" with AMD's Drivers. I have never had a graphics card "break"......EVER.....countless high-end cards to use as my sample size...some I overclocked, some I water blocked, some I just treated poorly in LAN Bash rigs....Not a single Nvidia or AMD (or 3dFx, ATi, Matrox, for that matter) stopped working. The warranty for all these cards is good enough to not have to worry about it. Finally....don't make any decision based solely on opinions from me or anyone else online....we all have personal preferences and biased points of view. Decide based on data and tests from respected authorities and you can't go wrong. Spend as much as you can on a single card and just enjoy the goodness.
  11. Just realized...I keep referring to the Longhorn as a Thompson Center Contender...I am not sure if there really is such a weapon IRL, and if there is, it's a dead ringer for the TC/C.

Have: SVD and two mags, PSO... AUG and two 40-round mags... Want: WInchester with Scope (P) LongHorn with Scope (P) Thanks in advance.
  13. I will probably swap the SVD for a Winchester with ColdA this evening, but yeah I would like the Contender....How about a Steyr AUG for it? (with two 40-round Mags)
  14. Sure man... I always strike out with .308W rounds so if you have a bunch of them it's a deal.
  15. If you guys truly set up an ad-hoc "safe zone" then I am all for it. Just maybe a town near the coast that we could always count on to show up and chill for a bit....trade gear...etc. Without treading in to the RP side of things, it would be interesting to try...that's all. I have dabbled in a couple RP servers and was more or less underwhelmed by the focus on following the "behavior" instead of just letting the players develop into their own identities. BTW...I have a nice SVD that I don't really want. I tossed my hunting rifle for it but would ideally like another one or better yet a Thompson Contender...if anyone has one. Cheers.
  16. Hey Guys! I have been hitting your server lately but usually it has been low pop. Tonight I actually ran into a few guys (the first one was looting the NWAF and I was waiting for him in a barracks. Just as I hear him coming in I hit my Mic button and.....nothing.... Forgot to enable my mic....so instead I gave him the finger and expected to be shot in the head. What do you know....the guy turns around and screws off leaving me to do the same. I had my weapons shouldered as usual and I wonder if that was the reason he decided not to try his luck. Either way....I am happy to be here, and look forward to not killing the "good" guys. Going down past Zeleno to the coast then going to stay around Balota and Cherno till my luck runs out. I have 40-round Stanag Mags and a few attachment parts for M4s if anyone needs them. I am sticking to my Hunting rifle and Python, in case anyone has .357

    Status Report - 21 Jun 2016

"Dev Update/Andrej Hi everybody, After a long silence from the audio department, I am delighted I can talk about some big improvements and upgrades we have planned moving toward 0.61. Our programmers worked hard on implementing our new Audio system which will also be the core of the Enfusion Audio. In the coming updates we will have completely new gunshots sounds with new distance parameters and attenuation and frequency curves which are enormous improvement over existing ones. You will be able to distinguish distance and position of the shots fired with greater precision. Also new sound effects we made are better quality and have greater diversity, so you could recognize which type of weapon is firing more easily. In the coming updates we also plan to consecutively upgrade ambient sounds which will be an enormous core upgrade, but also vehicle sounds, melee and all character sounds that will compliment the new character animations you've been told about. - Andrej Sinkević / Lead Sound Designer" Oh yeah, Baby..... Biggest step forwards for the Alpha, in my opinion....This should add about TEN times the depth and sense of immersion. I wont say I "can't wait" for 0.61...because I can....as this build is just fine...thank you very much, Devs....

Meh... I rather like the idea that the Infected are basically mindless predators. When you add the abilities of climbing, opening doors, or even forcing obstacles out of the way I personally think that it conveys a sense that they are too "aware" and I honestly feel that if there was an outbreak that caused the conditions found in the Chenarus victims it would certainly render them incapable of understanding how to do these things. Having a bunch of the snarling bastards roaming around outside a house you just ran into is quite an experience already (not to mention the panic you feel, knowing every KOS arsehole within hearing distance is moving in for the kill!). Add to that, having only so much ammo, and the melee being improved for the Infected, and you have your hands full when you choose to agro them. Just my perspective, though.

THE BEST GUIDE TO GETTING 60+FPS IN DAYZ!

This might be a bit dated...but at least the OP-er tried to share this so people have yet another reference for bumping their frames up a bit. It will be very interesting to see how 0.60 plays with default .cfg files and whether we will need a new approach to tweaking the settings. Thanks for the info, NotAScouser.

OK...I respect your efforts in contributing to the forums especially because English might not be your first language. Well done and I will remember to consider this.

    Dealing with the frustration

I just spent the day with a former co-worker in the IT industry. He just came back from the CR and also Romania where a few teams were working on some modules for their company's product offering. From his perspective the production/development houses over there are now a complete joke. There is almost zero oversight and because their countries are so 2nd world it becomes a case of herding cats in order to get a team on-task and up to speed. Throw in the degree of separation between leads and teams and you have the perfect combination for creating a low morale, low interest, and apathetic workforce. Is this happening at the DayZ SA office? Where are the deliverables? Pinned on a wall in the bathroom or plastered on a huge wall in front of them? Are they being paid for milestones or are they just salaried employees? And most importantly, I think, who is their Gabe Newell? Who is their Chris Roberts? I was sceptical of the way Hicks was going about the roadmap two years ago and now I am sure about it. I imagine the dev team in general could benefit from a different management style...but who knows except them, I suppose. This afternoon just gave me pause for thought on the subject of remote coders and artists...that's all. Brian was not really a Project Leader before DayZ SA, was he? I know he was responsible for a mod of the Mod..right? I am trying not to assign blame to him for the debacle that is DayZ SA Alpha per-se....but I think there should have been a conscious effort to ensure the fans/subscribers better informed and it must be impossible to handle both roles with the attention to detail and effectiveness that they require. I always thought he was over-extending his cycles...maybe it's time to bring in someone else to shoulder the burden of getting milestones ticked off. So...regarding the OP...I am "Dealing with the Frustration" by simply playing the builds and speculating on how I would do it if it was MY game. The insight into development has definitely opened my eyes a bit...but now I am wondering just how poorly run the software development houses are in the East Bloc....and also wondering if the game would have been better off coming out of Montreal, or another major game studio....curious. "And aiming for a polished product in the end does not exclude buggy alphas beforehand."----- Yeah it does, sorry to say...because in the process of development you should have better QA, better milestones, better oversight, better feedback, and more accountability. The "Alpha" should not be used as an excuse...not anymore, really. The game is sort of an oddball now...with such a scattered mix of content that still has not been "completed" that I find it hard to believe there are specific deliverables being set for the team or else we would start seeing features added that are functioning and fairly sorted out. The biggest reason I am staying optimistic is because 0.60 is "supposed" to be the beginning of a proper foundation for the game and I am eager to see how progress goes AFTER the EXP goes to Stable. I should not have to say this...but...Fingers Crossed.

    my player has deleted

Don't remember what the actual duration is set at, but there is a delay between when you log out and when your character disappears from view in the game. This is to help prevent "combat logging".... I think the time is around 5 minutes, which is a long time to be exposed...so next time make sure to log out in a spot that is hidden.

And...folks....Hicks did not say "we are looking to release this very soon so keep your eyes on the DB and see y'all in 0.60!" I am glad he resisted the temptation. Good update. I personally would like to know what is being done about the lack of keyboard remap support and have yet to see any reference to it. Do you guys think this aspect is "player controller" dependant. Or is it UI controlled? This was the first bug I ever posted on the tracker over two years ago and I do not have any info on progress or where on the priority list it is.

Picking up your gear after you die.

Hell yeah... I know. I read posts like the previous one and I feel a massive sense of disappointment that one of the BEST aspects of this game has already been "ruined" by TeamSpeak.... This is something I completely missed when I was considering buying into the Alpha and now it is apparent that this SINGLE aspect of DayZ might very well be the reason I lose interest in playing (experiencing) it. I have ventured over to high POP servers looking for a challenge and like Pilgrim mentioned, seeing a group of five players moving around a town without a single audible word between them makes me realize just how hopeless any attempt at interaction would be. I KNOW this can't be "fixed" and I am now finally coming to realize just how much my experience suffers from it. Next up? I look for a small group of players that feel as strongly about this as I do and use only in-game chat.... I think that would at least add enough additional challenge and adventure to the experience that I could find balance against the immersion-killers. My days as a Lone Wolf peacekeeper are probably over...but maybe...just maybe...I will find a whole new zeal for DayZ that I originally thought was not my chosen can of Beans. Role-Play would be the term...I guess....but without the constraints of, well, "Role Playing"...
