Could be worse..... You could be me...running a Community Server.....and having your Game Versions totally screwed up because of these pointless and infantile little theme updates. I swear the Dev Team are 16 year-old, part-time volunteers!
-
I'll say the obvious, in response to your concerns.... There are MANY Community Servers that have tweaked the night setting to their liking. You have many options as to how long it is...how bright it is...and how the player perceives it. I know many folks don't want to get wrapped up in servers with a massive list of Mods of every kind, but some offer simple things like loot balancing and night settings to give the player a more realistic experience... You just need to ask around and playtest for a bit and you will find what you are looking for, I'm sure.

Thanks for pointing me to that file, my man.
-
I just need to slightly increase the hit points on Bears, so they are tougher to kill. Seemed reasonable, but there does not seem to be an obvious setting in the server files for animal damage modification. Any Ideas? Thanks.
-
I am following this post....as I am also curious about the animal configs and settings.
-
Also bear in mind that Toxic or Irradiated Zones make an excellent tool for server owners to balance the loot. High-Tier areas with good Mil loot are usually "End-Game" areas, as you then become fully capable of surviving the rest of the challenges. As there will be options for Static AND Dynamic zones, this gives us the opportunity to add a layer of risk to the experience without drastically reducing the actual items. I like it. And I will be implementing Static Zones to the Mil Bases, and will have Dynamic Zones as long as they can be consistently configured.

Figures they will get 1.08 out shortly…. And it will completely screw up the DayZ Expansion Mod, now that it just got released! Call me a pessimist....
-
Probably not the first to post this....but..... Pow!
-
Just a hint on your map, if you don't mind.... Make sure to take your time setting up the infected and animal spawns... Seems like it is very frustrating trying to add more wolves, bears and infected on the existing maps by editing the XML files....and it always is needed. If you want your map to be popular I suggest having Wolf spawns inside town areas as well, to simulate what would really be happening in them after they were abandoned. And keep up the good work!
-
Going to follow this…. While I do not have any answers for you @DeniedPickle, I also would like to know. I have used Hen and Cow Territories to allow Bears and Wolves to spawn within towns.... But so far, only Bears are working. It would be nice to have a clear and consistent way of controlling the Ai Spawns.
-
Excellent! I am really liking the density of the area. I like having a very large map, but a smaller map that has a big, sprawling city is very interesting. Keep up the effort!

DayZ, you are killing yourself by doing this.

WTF? How the crap did @Parazightdeserve that kind of response? And @justice5150 if you took my own personal reply as an attack then you honestly are not being fair or reasonable. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here, and I sympathize with your bitterness...as we ALL have suffered similar feelings at one point or another. But my dear Survivor....When others with many years and thousands of hours invested in this game offer their perspective (or criticisms) then you should at least consider the source, and not immediately assume the worst. Peace, Brother... -

Well....I wont go as far as telling you to stop bitching. This is an open forum, and you can "bitch" all you want. However, only your point on the Inventory bug is accurate, in my opinion. If food spawns are too low, or other random (I mean not EVERY player experiences these) glitches seem to break the game for you, then you are simply frustrated and fed up with the seemingly endless string of poorly released feature updates. Try to be specific when you criticize the current state of the game, as I actually think there is a chance that the devs are paying a bit more attention to us lately. By posting a rant that contains mixed levels of relevant concerns just adds to the noise. "Inventory Bug.....BAD! …..Fix it!.... Thank You!" 😉 -
1.06 Testing for Server Owners and Modders
philbur replied to NovaDose's topic in General Discussion
There is also the idea of locking client game versions... It's great to have constantly updated game files through the Steam service, but there are downsides to it as well. Just simply adding a toggle to either "Keep Game Updated to latest Version" or "Manually Install Latest Version" would definitely go a long way in giving us a more reliable Community Server experience. I understand there are CLE considerations, but it should at least be an option. -
You didn't "payd" a lot of money, if you are playing on PC.... And when times get tough and you feel like venting here...just think about all those folks who blindly dropped 60 bucks on games like No Mans Sky, Fallout 76, and Red Dead Redemption 2. If you don't want to get screwed....then don't pull your pants down and beg for it. Sorry to be a bit abrasive, my man...but things are slowly starting to get sorted out (compared to the shit show of 1.0) and while there are still MANY issues to resolve, it really comes down to whether you are willing to let go of the pain from the previous disasters and just be a littler more patient and understanding. Trust me, as I have over 2000 hours in the SA and I have had my fair share of rants and rages at the devs and their decisions...but the fact is...the DLC is optional, and the core gameplay is indeed improving and being expanded upon...Stability is a concern, yes….but I think it boils down to the fact that BI just don't have the right formula in terms of staff expertise, management, and they also are still trying to come to grips with the game engine overall. Add to these challenges the fact that they chose to release on consoles DURING development and you honestly have to respect that this is going to be a mess for a while longer. Patience, and Peace, my fellow survivor...

@Greensek is actually doing a great deal to restore my faith in the potential this game has to offer.... By being available and proactive, he is breathing new life in to the Forums' relevance. Keep it up! and Thanks.

BTW, I did hear back from a Dev on their current plans for the original "Private Hive" infrastructure and they have put this on the back burner, for the time being (understandably) so even the idea of having a couple of "connected" servers for creating a "world" that spans multiple maps while sharing a CLE and rulesets is probably something we won't see. All the more reason to keep the faith that someone will decide to take something like this on, but admittedly it would be immensely time consuming and require some serious modding/mapping skills. So how would that work...in Bohemia's eyes? Can someone accept Patreon, or "donations" to work on a project like this....and not get screwed over?
-
Anyone hear any news out there about someone having a look at how to go about creating one large map based on C+ and the upcoming Livonia? I remember back in the MOD days it was kind of cool to "pretend" Chenarus was linked to Lingor, Tavania, and the others, but, since each map basically was a separate server, it never really "felt" vast... I can imagine this would be a fairly involved project, but since both maps are "officially-created" packages it would probably be less of a headache than working with 3rd-party custom terrain....right? The server workload alone might be the show stopper....but hey!.... Imagine the RP and PVE possibilities! Another option is to simply run TWO Private servers (Master/Slave) but not sure if that's even viable anymore...knowing how poorly BI seems to treat the Private Server owners... Probably in the minority, as well, of those looking for LARGER maps....but being mostly a PVE guy it's something that would vastly enhance my DayZ. Cheers!
-
Frostbite does this easily...but DICE have definitely gone the extra mile on the high tick rates to help these issues.
-
Well....If ANY person of "importance" at BI does indeed read these kinds of threads on this Forum....then I am puzzled how they have not taken the role of "Community Support and Awareness" more seriously....after all these years.... It has ALWAYS been the single greatest influencer in the overall perception of DayZ customers toward this title (and also toward Bohemia as a Game Developer). It has ALWAYS been the area in which Bohemia has just not managed to get right....sadly. It's not for lack of trying, but it takes a dedicated and "socially skilled" person, who can be proactive, and can create a consistent and informed identity here in these Forums. I fear they may have used a different criteria for selecting the people for the role of "sacrificial Lamb" in the past...or that person has not received the support on the BI end of things (perhaps). But, for whatever the actual reasons, this kind of OP is now, and has always been, the legacy of DayZ Standalone...and it does not do the game, or the Developer justice. If DayZ was fairly complete in features/content, and did not suffer from the many current stability issues (consoles primarily now, apparently) then it would be as good as we all want it to be. But since neither of those two have happened yet....we are just asking for affirmation that, YES! The Dev Team and Bohemia Interactive are working towards those ends as dutifully and earnestly as reasonably can be expected. This can be accomplished by them simply becoming more connected to their fanbase/customers. I say "simply" but BI are definitely not making it so.
-
I am hopeful that the DayZ Expansion Mod will breathe a little life back in it for players...and will patiently keep my wallet handy...in case some talented Modder decides to try their hand at a larger world.
-
Yikes! It would appear I am the ONLY one who wants this! LOL
-
Hicks has hinted he might be leaving too!
-
@Greensek So....IS that all the info we are going to get? Or are there better details coming soon? Thanks.
-
OK, my dear BI folks.... If you release this Map as a paid DLC....you had BETTER offer a combined full Chenarus/Livonia hybrid map for us as well...(If the servers can actually handle it)... That 44 second clip was definitely not worth waiting for, guys...this should have been a 10 minute walkthrough....almost makes me think it isn't even ready yet, sorry. I admit that it looks very, very good, though. The assets seem to compliment the environment well.
