    DayZ Namalsk Stories Thread

It's my favorite map. Imo it still needs a bit of tweaking, though. Canned food being rare; sure, no problem as long as you have other options to sustain yourself. I died after a few hours of game play yesterday because I starved to death... with a backpack full of raw meat. Canned food and matches were no where to be found. It seemed about 95% of the areas I came in to had flammable barrels scattered everywhere... yet none could be lit on fire.
  2. Just tried connecting twice myself. Once through Commander and once through A2. Both times it just hangs on "wait for host".

What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?

So you're going to say something, which is already implemented, isn't going to work? *edit Prove I didn't Google "Pitch Black... who cares. Only a moron wouldn't know what movie you were talking about. What's your next brain-mashing trivia question... something along the lines of "Name the tv series which the phrase "beam me up Scotty" originated."?

What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?

Pitch Black and Some private servers already have some type of fix which disables adjusting your gamma at night, so I don't understand why it would be a problem for Rocket.

    Hooked at 50

Wow. At only 42, you guys are making feel like one of the kids. It's really nice to see fellow mature gamers.

Avoid this server at all costs.

It's well known that you have to call time out if you don't want to get shot.

What do we expect from DayZ Standalone?

When I kill animals for meat, I want to also be able to skin them and fashion their hide in to clothing. When I see a pile of trash laying around town, I want to be able to use my matches or road flares to light a fire. I'd like to see Pobeda Dam altered as to be generating electricity so as there's a plausible reason to have some street / building lights be on at night. And, most importantly, I'd like to see the corner tavern on Cherno have $.25 chicken wing night every Thursday from 5pm - 9pm.
  8. I also agree that the lighting does add to the excitement. But not too much lighting. I do know that, atleast in my area here in the US, where there's an intersection there's always street lights to illuminate it. Definitely. Also, what about child zombies? Maybe a little girl zombie who rides around on a tricycle? What about the zombies which only drag themselves along the ground.... maybe have them as missing the lower half of their body? Just their upper torso and then a bit of the lower spine sticking out. Or zombies carrying body parts from people they've killed (severed head, arm or leg)? Or what about "survivor" zombies? Some dressed up like we currently are now, walking around with backpacks, hats... maybe dragging a busted shotgun which they could swing at us. When it's dark some could be carrying flashlights lit up or during the day they have hatchets? They wouldn't have to be carrying good loot or anything, but something to add to the "visual excitement" of the game. That's definitely also a good idea. I've always thought that if I were a survivor who's trying to survive in the woods, the first thing I'd want to do is grab some camo off of a dead soldier. If it's implemented in to the mod, how would it work? Would we have to find the clothing like we do with the current system, or would be be able to grab it like we can grab other loot when we kill and search zeds?
  9. Atleast it's a good thing you weren't putting up barbed wire and tank traps in front of all the store doors. If so then the cops would have probably shot you.

Major performance issues while using Fraps.

+ 1 for Dxtory. I record at 30 fps, 1280x720, medium quality, and rawcap (then convert after recording; saves on cpu) and I don't notice a hit what so ever. The only issue I have is that I also run Afterburner, so I have to be in game and have Dxtory running, then I can start up Afterburner.

I'm worried, will standalone be on steam?

I'm worried, will standalone be on steam?

+1 ... and also employ Ubisoft's drm AND Games for Windows LIVE. :D Meh, really the only time Steam is good is when they have a sale. Other than that they are usually one of the higher-priced sellers. It seems like many over hype Steam because it's cool to jump on "that" bandwagon. Most were never around back when Steam launched and it was as hated as Origin is today. Don't take my post wrong. I'm not saying "I'm right and you're wrong". It's just my opinion.

    Will mod be abandoned?

You haven't checked out any of the mods on the private servers, have you? Some community members are doing wonders with DayZ.
  14. Hey James, you didn't have to say that you disagree with me. I wasn't saying that the mod is right or wrong, I was just giving my opinion. Sorry about that if I gave the wrong impression. My apologizes. And yes, like I mentioned in my last post, I know why you implemented the fatigue system. In real life people wouldn't be able to traverse quickly and for extended periods of time with a large loadout. All I was getting at is that, for me, the fatigue system in it's current state made the game un-enjoyable. Yes, I know that getting tired is realistic, but there has to be a fine line between being realistic and being fun. It wasn't a matter of running 1 or 2 minutes then resting 1 or 2 minutes; it was running for 20-30 seconds then having to sit for 2 -3 minutes. I could understand if I had to stop running and walk for a bit, but I couldn't even do that. I literally had to stop moving all together. Getting tired really isn't the problem; the recovery is. Yes, I know that I could have dumped all the ammo, and that actually was my original intention when I first realized the fatigue system was in place. Instead, I decided to keep everything (and I still wasn't fully loaded) and see what the limitations would be when carrying a lot of stuff. Unfortunately, it's just too limiting. All the time I played yesterday, I only made it from the factory (south of Polana) to Polana, and almost to the gas station north of Polana. And that's it. On a side note, the tractor was spawned at the factory, but it needed parts. I gave the factory time for loot to spawn, but not a single vehicle part spawned so I was on the search for parts. But with all the time it took to travel such a little distance, it just wasn't worth it. With as slow as I was going with just food and ammo, how much worse would it have been if I were to start carrying parts and fuel? Again, this is only my opinion. A couple of other issues. Well, not really issues, more like items worth mentioning in case they need attention. There was just one other person on the server when I spawned. When I did start looking around, I couldn't believe how many animals were around. It was like a petting zoo. It was a bit funny. Also, in the field north of Polana there was a downed chopper. I moved up on it slowly, waiting for a crew of zeds to spawn, but they never did. So I thought maybe it wasn't lootable but when I got up to it there was a sniper rifle and ammo there. Don't know if the zombies not spawning was a bug or intentional, so I thought I'd mention it.
  15. No worries. It wasn't the first time and surely won't be the last. Besides, gearing up is the fun part, imo. Plus, now that I know everyone is playing kos, I'll change my play style once I respawn.
  16. Yep, it seemed to "fix" itself for me somehow. I didn't change anything on my end. It just "worked" after I played on another server for awhile then came back to 420. And yep, someone walked right up on me. I was uphill, coming in on a small town, scouting for vehicle parts, but noticed zeds walking around. So I sat and watched for a bit as I didn't want to charge in and scare the crap out of somebody, when someone shot me in the back. No "you friendly?", no "surrender now", no "don't move"... nothing.
  17. Well, haven't been on the server for awhile, so I updated and jumped on. The launcher; it starts off taking a long time just loading the game, then when it finally does get past the DayZ loading screen it just hangs on waiting for host. So I connected manually through the A2OA server browser. I played for a bit (maybe 30 minutes or so). It's just not fun now. The exhaustion and head weaving is a really good idea; I do like the concept, but not when you can only go 200-ish meters or so before your screen starts going dark. And then to have to sit still for longer than you were moving... this makes traveling next to impossible. If you have a vehicle for traveling around, great. But on foot; it's not worth playing. Also, I don't know if it's a bug or not, but after the first time my screen did go dark, it never fully recovered. When I looked at my in game watch, it was sometime after 10 in the afternoon, yet it looked like dusk was right around the corner. Also, the zombie sounds are messed up. Don't get me wrong, I like them, but some make them sound like they're in a tunnel (yet the zeds are outside) and the relative distance-to-volume is really off. There was a zed on the opposite side of a house, yet I had to actually turn my volume down because it sounds like he's literally on top of me. I understand that the changes are to add more realism, and the server is meant to be for the hardcore, but you still have to have a line between realism and enjoyable. The zed sounds I could have dealt with. The not even being able to travel... just not worth playing for me.
  18. Not sure what happened, but it's not working for me anymore since I logged on last. I downloaded the new file and unrar'd it in to my A2OA folder. Using the start bat and the #start bat both give me this error when I try to join the server from the server browser: Using the bat files to start the game, in expansions it shows the arma folders and both the pantera and pantera_2 folders. It won't let me disable them so I'm assuming both are needed to join this servers. Yet as it stands, it won't let me join because of the above error. If I try to join manually by firing up A2OA, disabling the panthera_2 folder, I get the same error pictured above. If I re-enable it and disable the panthera folder, I get "plant.pbo is missing" error before A2 even starts up.
  19. Pictures/videos or it's not true. :)
  20. In Commander it shows as US 2519 and shows as the server being down/offline. *edit Ah nevermind. Phuc Commander. I just read that thread about Vilayer stealing others work and passing it off as their own, and how Commander is only supporting Vilayer's servers. I'll stick with manually updating/connecting. Keep up the good work, guys. The server is great.

    Why Reddit?

I thought Reddit was Duddit's red-headed step sister.

    entrenching tool

Because there's no outhouses in the woods.
  23. Alright. I was connecting manually, but there was a DayZ Commander update which now lists all the new maps, and the 420 server was showing, but it was showing as being offline. I tried logging on but it sat at waiting for host. I'll have to go back to connecting manually. Downloading the updated map now... any good changes?
  24. Has the server been down all day? I've been watching it in Commander and haven't seen it online.

the one thing that will stop me buying the standalone

I'll be buying it just because I feel Rocket should get some compensation from his mod. I've dumped a TON of hours into it, and it didn't cost me a penny. But.... I'm curious as to if the standalone can also be modded? Right now, there's some private hives running some great mods. Even after buying the standalone, I can still see me playing the mod on said servers. Plus, not to mention that if people aren't happy with the standalone, what's stopping someone from making a DayZ mod for ArmA 3?
