Happy Isle communty - Pure 100% Friendly server - No Bandits + our other servers *read first post*
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to mrmadness's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Just to add on to what Flawzel stated, Happy Isle is always crowded. So it's quite obvious that people do enjoy playing when they don't have to worry about someone running around killing other just for the hell of it. Makes you wonder how many more servers would become highly populated if they adopted this practice? -
The majority voted to have a broken tool which actually made the game EASIER to play removed, and you're calling them the "noobs"? Boy, I bet you're really going to be pissed when you find out Rocket is also going to remove the 20 Kill Streak Nuke perk.

Fruits of their labor? Having the thermal scope, one can pick out unknowing players beyond as far as the eye can see; players he could have easily missed if using the same powered, non-thermal scope. Having this ability helps make the player feel secure, taking away that ever-present fear of not knowing if he's being hunted or not. This also allows him to easily spot and hunt players he would have never known were around if the same powered scope were non-thermal. Having the thermal scope takes away all labor. Not having the thermal scope means always having to watch your back. It instills that fear of not knowing who's in the tree line a few hundred meters out. It means that hunting other players actually means getting up and hunting them, not sitting back waiting for that magic "dot" to appear in your thermal scope. Not having the thermal means you're working that much harder to survive and, after all, that is the essence of DayZ; the struggle for survival. Pro-thermal players keep raising the point that DayZ shouldn't be "balanced" or "fair". Well, when removing the thermal means EVERYONE has to work just as hard to survive and always have that fear of not knowing who's watching, that is the type of "balance" the game needs.

There's a difference between what is / isn't in game and what's banned. So your post is disregarded.

A good non PvP server out there?
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to Ballzdeep's topic in New Player Discussion
Breaking Point is DayZ on a private server (well, actually a few private servers now, running Chen and Lingor). But it's been modified from the vanilla DayZ. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/93913-dayz-breaking-point-mod-now-with-new-lingor-map-integration/ -
A good non PvP server out there?
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to Ballzdeep's topic in New Player Discussion
Try Happy Isle. This is exactly what you're looking for. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/104793-happy-isle-pure-100-friendly-server-no-bandits-active-admins/#entry983576 Also, there's Breaking Point. It's not a non-pvp, but I mention it because the zeds have been cranked up, making their mod great when it comes to being an actual zombie survival mod. So there it is actually about focusing on survival and not about these 10 year old's who want to play CoD. -
Another vote from me for Taviana. Twice as big as Chernarus.
-
Many keep mentioning keeping it if there was a counter, and mentioning "Arnold" and "Predator". Well, how about this... Currently we can go to a pond and fill our canteens. Why not add the option to go to a pond and "roll in the mud"? Then also have an icon (along with our others on the right of the screen) which shows our "cooled down" period, and have it slowly decrease, just the same as our drink and hunger.
-
Then press "i" on your keyboard.

90 fov and ironsight/scopes
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to machiavelli's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Are you by chance firing sd ammo with a regular gun? I use a fov of 90 and aiming with irons/dots are fine. -
We have a noob friendly server!

You think that an admin is a "kiddie" who thinks "he's a god" for banning people who don't follow a few rules? -
Using Steam to search for previous players played with... how's that going to help when actual proof (video/screenshot) is needed when reporting hackers?

Can anyone identify this for me?

This game needs more S.T.A.L.K.E.R. feeling... Right?
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to Expressen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Haven't tried it myself, but you know there's a STALKER mod for A2, right? -
If you like the military aspect of the game then you're in luck because Arma2 has a ton of mods and scenarios available. Go over to armaholics site and search through the mod section. Many DayZ players get upset because others come along and they've turned this zombie survival horror mod in to nothing more than their own personal CoD. Players who enjoy the pvp, you guys are only hurting yourselves by only playing DayZ. They are so many other mods set up for exactly what you're looking for. One of the more popular apocalyptic pvp mods right now is called Wasteland. It's set in Chernarus. There's 3 factions; optfor, blufor, and civilians. There's base building, a vast amount of different military weapons, and a bunch of vehicles, and there's even side missions. Playing is easy as you do nothing more than start up A2OA and join a Wasteland server. Jump on YouTube and check out some of the videos. It may be just what you're looking for.

DayZ Breaking Point Mod : Now with new Lingor Map Integration!
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to mr_seacucumber's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Anyone else have the A2OA dlc? When I was playing on BreakingPoint last night and switched to 3rd person, I realized my toon didn't have the hd skin. I normally play in first (unless driving) so never really noticed it until now. Does the hd not work with Breaking or not with DayZ at all? -
Yep, there's no need for the thermal l85, dmr, m14, as50, or m107. If people feel the need to snipe then let them use the cz550. The Lee is also just as effective. Maybe make the m24 "THE" new weapon of choice for snipers; having it and it's ammo spawn only at chopper crashes. Again, this is a zombie mod. If people want to make it war then let them go play the wasteland mod. And if people still feel the need to battle it out in zombieland, let them man up and do it face to face.

8 hours of DayZ ruined - Got to love them Hackers!
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to Harlico's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
+1 for Sula's recommendation. I have a toon on the official hive which has to be 200+ days old now. Not from careful playing but from giving up on public servers and sticking to private. Admins are quick to act plus they use more protection than what public offers. -
It works for Venthos (he's the one who came up with it.) mod. If someone is in combat mode and they quit the game, their toon automatically dies there where they logged out.

Standalone HD skins...
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to PearShaped's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ isn't the only "non-military" mod. There's the life mods, different zombie mods, and so forth. Go check out the mod section at armaholics. -
DayZ Breaking Point Mod : Now with new Lingor Map Integration!
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to mr_seacucumber's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I've been enjoying first person, for the most part. Even on the servers with third person on. I've turned my fov up to 90 and set my head bob to roughly 1/3. The head bob really adds to the immersion, thought it did take a bit to get use to. I actually started getting motion sick the first few times using it. The only drawbacks are, like Maxnmike mentioned, when in some buildings at night and you're trying to use a flashlight. Anymore I just toss out a road flare outside the building as that will light up the area... but of course that also gives away your position. Also, atleast for me, using first person when driving offroad gets to be pretty rough. My eye's go nuts when driving fast with all that bouncing around. So when I'm driving I will use third. All-in-all I'm enjoying the mod. You guys are doing a great job. *edit Oh, forgot to add... hey James, Happy Birthday. -
DayZ Breaking Point Mod : Now with new Lingor Map Integration!
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to mr_seacucumber's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Are you guys hosting Lingor or is another group? I only ask because this morning I opened the launcher and it showed 1 person playing Lingor, but when I logged in but I was alone. After playing for probably 20 minutes (I'm guessing), right in the middle of looking at items in a medical tent I just fell over dead. I wasn't bleeding, , not low on blood, not hungry, not sick, nothing agro'd. Just poof... dead. On the splash screen it showed myself and one other player, 3L3C7RO. I exited the game and opened the launcher again and yep, it was still showing 1 other person on Lingor. I do know there's a hack with will kill players / zeds when they're within a certain distance of the hacker, BUT, I'm not accusing anyone at this point. I do understand the mod is new and it could have been a bug. I just wanted to bring it up in case someone wants to look in to it. -
DayZ Breaking Point Mod : Now with new Lingor Map Integration!
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to mr_seacucumber's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yep, couldn't even get a chance to backup either folder. Is the .3 launcher messed up? I launched it twice and both times it booted showing lingor missing and when I tried to select Chern from the update tab the launcher gave me the same "can't download while lingor is downloading" message. I gave up, played Borderlands 2 for a bit, and now when I fired the launcher back up 3.0.0.3 launches then flashes to the "launcher is outdated" message and tells me to download 3.0.0.1. Here's a screen shot. You can see I have .3 installed yet I'm getting the outdated message. -
DayZ Breaking Point Mod : Now with new Lingor Map Integration!
SkrooLoose (DayZ) replied to mr_seacucumber's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Woowwwwww... :( :( So it took 6~7 hours to download Lingor. It finally finished so I then selected Chen to start downloading. The launcher gave me a "can't download while Lingor is downloading" message yet Lingor was already done. I figured no problem, I'll just close then reopen the launcher. But no... as soon as I closed the "can't download" message Lingor automatically started downloading.... again. I quickly closed it but with no luck. When I opened it the launcher stated @breakingpointlingor wasn't found and when I looked in my A2OA folder, the launcher had already deleted everything which took 7+ hours to download. Again, like I mentioned in my last post... I can't be mad because that wouldn't be right. But still, there's no way I'm going through spending an entire day redownloading both mods. I'm just going to follow the thread and watch for any update posts about the server speeds.
