Why are dayz players so hated?

That's one of the biggest complaints over in the arma forums. DayZ has brought a wealth of new players, but the vast majority are nothing but lazy. ArmA has the tools for the new players to learn the game, but the "DayZ refugees" don't bother to learn. The just jump in the ArmA servers and start to run-n-gun. Being team based, those who don't know how to play simply hinder the rest of the players. The DayZ players are expecting the veterans to hold their hand and teach them. After awhile, they just got fed up with it and the admins just started to kick the players. I don't mean this as an insult to you, brites. I'm just passing on what I've read.

    Lingor Island, Hacked weapons already

So you're openly admitting that you can't play without the use of weapons which aren't legitimately in DayZ to begin with? You're doing the admins a favor by not joining their servers.

    Lingor Island, Hacked weapons already

You like scrub game play, so that means everyone else automatically does and if they disagree then they're lying? You like playing on servers with hackers, so that means everyone else automatically does and if they disagree then they're lying? You got some good logic there, champ.

    Lingor Island, Hacked weapons already

Admins can ban anyone from their server that they want. Also, you can't use the "real life" situation comparison in this case. Because in real life there aren't hackers who magically crap out ammo crates, auto kill, use map hacks, teleport, and on and on. All of us have to take a chance every time we log on to a server, hoping that there aren't any hackers on. There was no hoping in OP's case. Him stumbling upon the crate proved that there was a hacker on. If it were me, I would have left all that crap there and moved to another server. If people want their gear just handed to them, let them go play CoD or BF.
  5. If you're using DayZ Commander, upgrading/downgrading is as easy as a click of a button. It's fool-proof and real quick. @bob I was reading in the other forum that Vilayer was getting ready to release another map, Takistan. Were you guys still thinking of running Lingor this weekend?

Lingor Island - NE race track #Team Blindside#

When trying to survive in the post-apocalypse, you have to find means to blow off steam any way possible. That was perfect. Beans for you.

    The Cruelest Act

+1 One could run all the way up north in less than 2 hours. And they were driving? Only way I'd believe they were driving is if they drove out of Chernarus and dropped him off in Lingor. Nothing in op's post made any sense. Only way it would make sense is if OP finished his post with "and then I woke up from my dream". The one part I do believe is that someone was 13 years old... but I'm not referring to their so-called passenger.
  8. Two choppers... flying around? After looking at the map, where I heard one must have been around the NE airport area. I did see the bus in Electro, but other than the jeep Speck and I found in Cherno, I didn't see any other vehicles spawned in along the coast from Balota to Berezino. I did find a bike at the lighthouse south of the steep mountain (Pik?), so it's making traveling easier. Congrats on the gps. Where'd you luck in to that at? Only thing I found good was a g17 and mil flashlight at the tower in Balota (though I have found the cco there in the past). Other than that I'm just running with a common akm.
  9. Well, I have (had?) a Lingor character. Jumping on to us23 today for the first time, I started with a new toon. So hopefully it's just a new toon for different hives/different maps. Ran in to Speck while I was running around in the dark trying to get geared up. It was nice to finally find someone who doesn't kill on sight. I was telling him that I have a clan I play with, but the others are sticking mainly to BF3 right now. So I was looking for a good group/server to call home for DayZ. Seems like the guys with the chopper are keeping busy. I was up in Berezino trying to find some items and caught the faint sound of it flying, somewhere north of my position. I jumped on my bike to try and get closer, but I couldn't tell which direction I was heading as I haven't found a compass yet.
  10. Yep, it looks like "Desync" is the only way to find it. Being unofficial, that means that we'll have a new character for each unofficial server? Or will the same toon be usable on all the unofficial servers like our "official character" can? Anyhow, I've joined and I'm running around now, trying to gear up. In game name is OFC SkrooLoose. I don't kos; I'm generally friendly and am looking to help out others.
  11. Been playing Lingor all afternoon. That map is excellent. You can go in 95% of the buildings and the towns are a bit closer together. I was in one large town with an airstrip, bunkers, apartment, warehouses, a store, 2 schools (iirc), and some other building all close together. It's going to be great for shootouts. *edit Oops.. isn't "that other map" being discussed on these forums frowned upon by the admins?
  12. Yeah, was going to mention this. I run Afterburner and mem usage is one of the items I monitor. I can watch it climb higher and higher in DayZ.
  13. Only the crashed choppers don't respawn loot. Everything else respawns without a restart. Anyone can get the basic supplies anytime they need to without restarting the server.

After work I'm gonna try this.

Or if you really want to risk it; wait until night and head in to one of the big cities. There's barrels burning at night. You can get warm and cook there.
  15. I use the Steam versions myself. Drop 6 Launcher and go with DayZ Commander. Commander will let you switch A2 and DZ versions easily. You won't even have to have Steam running.

    If they removed backpacks!

So if DayZ never launched with backpacks to start with, then 90% of the current player base would have never started playing it? Your rebuttal directly proves op's reasoning. He stated that it would really make the player choose what is necessary to survive. Then you go on to lay out examples of how having backpacks simplifies life. You even mention using multiple backpacks. Your examples show nothing more than convenience. The game shouldn't be about convenience; it's about survival. *I just want to mention that I'm not saying you're right or wrong. This topic is just a "what if" scenario, so no one is right or wrong; everyone just looks upon it differently.

    Looking for m24 sniper rifle

Last one I found was in the NE airfield tower.

Found a ghosters den on my server.

How do you guys spell "Recruit" in your neck of the woods? :P

Death should really be the end.

Sure it would; the idea of losing your stashed gear/loot upon death would work just fine. If it were real life, you were a loner and you died, your new character would not know where your old self died or stored loot was. But if your old life was part of a group and you died, that group re-gearing your new life would be no different than that group finding a stranger on the beach and taking him in and helping him out. This is because your respawn is a brand new person, as if you just fired up DayZ for the very first time, and not simply a respawn of your character who just died. As for requiring your gear off of another player; if said player kills you and takes your gear, it's then their gear. So if you in return kill that player, you're not taking your old gear because it was never YOUR old gear. You are now a completely new human being (meaning within the realm of the game, naturally) and that old gear never belonged to you; it belonged to another who had died before you.

Death should really be the end.

Alright then, my bad. Being as it's up to 4 pages and you were not responding to the topic, don't you think quoting what you were replying to would have been appropriate? Either way, my apologizes.
  21. SkrooLoose (DayZ)

Death should really be the end.

Your hidden loot dying with you when you die would only promote banditry? Really? It's be all the more reason to form groups (that is if those players feel the need to have gear simply handed to them, instead of requiring it). That way when you respawn you can just run to your buddies and they can re-arm you. And you're saying that endgame is about who has the biggest stash of rare loot? In a sim where loot, both common and rare, respawn no later than each server restart? I thought it was about survival.
  22. SkrooLoose (DayZ)

Death should really be the end.

Trust you why? If you can't handle realism and are looking for an easy game to play, why do you want to play DayZ? What are you going to do when the duping bugs are fix? Are you going to quit playing then? *edit Just wanted to add that I don't mean that as an insult. You're entitled to your opinion and I completely respect that. I'm truly asking why you would want to play a simulation if it weren't hard and there weren't tough choices to make?
  23. SkrooLoose (DayZ)

Death should really be the end.

I completely understand the point you're making, and fully appreciate it. After all, that IS how DayZ is meant to be played; survival for as long as possible. But Zed, maybe you don't see it this way but many of us do; by being able to restock your new spawn at a tent saved from a previous life, you are robbing yourself from some of those very experiences which you say (and I agree with) are important to you. By grabbing an Alice and food from a previous life's tent, you're missing out on the thrill of having to go in to town with nothing to defend yourself with. Never knowing if you're being hunted or not. By grabbing a Coyote and (xxx) weapon from a previous life's tent, you're missing out on having to go in to military areas with nothing more than sticks-n-stones to defend yourself with. And so on. So yes, I completely agree with you when you say "Equipment is not what makes a survivor.". It's not about the equipment; but it is about the experiences which come with looting the equipment. And by being able to loot your previous life's tent, you're robbing yourself of those experiences.

How many people play DayZ with TrackIR?

People discussing gaming perpetuals being used for a specific game on a forum dedicated for said game; what an atrocity, isn't it?
