Honest question: What would be those things/features that have been "promised" back in the day that turns the current DayZ development - in your eyes - into some kind of "complete scam" for those who bought it during the early access? <<BS DELETED>>

There were communication errors, lack of transparency and a terrible management of expectations throughout the development of DayZ. I (and many many others) have been quite vocal about all of this AT THE TIME. But this is a discussion from almost 5 years ago. <<MORE BS DELETED>>

As was just asked, when do we get parity with the state of the game pre Enfusion?  I'd narrow this question down to "What year do we get parity with the state of the game pre Enfusion?"

The change to allow this game to be played on consoles was absolutely TERRIBLE.  You can say, well, it extends the life of the game, blah, blah, blah.  Look at  the damn result.  This game on console is an absolute mess.  It was never meant to run on that hardware, and it plays terrible.  I own DayZ on both XBOX and PS 5, and vanilla sucks compared to PC, just sucks.  It is clear it was hamfisted to just barely work, thank you Tencent.

And what it did to the game on the PC side sucks as well.  Thanks to the new (console needed) Character Controller, the movement of the character is just stupid.  The zeds are a minor nuisance and don't really MEAN anything, they are like rats scurrying around, and you swat them a few times with a broom and they die.  All to make it not too hard for the casuals.

In short, it's not just things/features, the game changed a lot AFTER the one month Beta and release and went in a direction nobody wanted or needed.

And another thing, I have noticed how quickly official responses come to console players reporting issues in the forum, and less so on the PC side.  I wonder why this is?

criticism and feedback is great and wanted, but this is just not helping. not anyone. maybe it helps yourself only to get some steam off here on the internet.

this is the same moaning since 2018. u guys still wait for dean halls promises from 2016. shouting at a small developer team who do a great job the past 4 years. considering the resources they have and a messed up un-finished hybrid of an engine they have to deal with.

and in the end its just a video game. im for sure not happy with the overall progress of the game since 2013, im no fan of every tweak/change/addition in whatever update - but i dont go mental about it. i use the feedback tracker if i feel so.

All I or anyone else that bought into early access is to be given the game "sold" to us.  They have yet to deliver that game.  And just because this game is released does not mean it's complete.  This game above all others is an example of how that happens.  It may be ok for some that want a half finished game missing features that were stripped away and told they would return before release, that DID NOT HAPPEN, nor several years after it's release.  Or features like vehicles that were working good until a design change was implemented with very little follow through, and they are still unstable as compared to before the change.  Or how about the overall change to the game to cater to consoles and casuals.  All of these things add up to a mess that most people would describe the game.  It's a fun mess, but a mess no less.  I want the game to be great and for the company to DO BETTER.  I use the feedback tracker as well, but there are so many legitimate unanswered tickets it's shameful.  Again, look at Hello Games, they are the standard by which I judge all other game companies  including BI.  They took a turd, and polished it into a Diamond.  I expect BI to do the same.

I will give you my point of view. I am really old school when it comes to forums. I grew up on it; it was the best place to chat and report about the games. When people wanted information, they went on the forum because there was no other place to get official info.

Social media changed it all; people became less active on forums and more active on social media, and discord changed it entirely for player interaction.

Now, I am using google if I want to look for something related to any game. I just find it the fastest and most effective way to find answers.

We increased the forum activity, but honestly, I would focus on player feedback about the game and players´ issues rather than replying to attacks towards the company.

All constructive feedback and game suggestions are appreciated, and that is what I am here for. The most effective way to communicate issues is still the Feedback tracker. Personal attacks or attacks towards the company - I don´t see any use in that and it doesn´t belong here.

I wholeheartedly disagree.  The history of this game is riddled with "The Company" giving false information, removing player wanted features/equipment/weapons, missing stated goals and deadlines, adding unneeded "stuff", and oh so much more over the last seven years.  And your expectation is for those that bought the game, love the game, and want it's best to just be quiet and act like everything is roses?  "The Company" put itself into this position and we are expected to not call out "The Companies" problems and demand better?  I've been around the block a time or two and anytime I hear someone wanting to shut down criticism that is DESERVED and warranted.  That is someone sitting behind rose colored glasses and really needs to take stock in what is being said here.

    Seriously.

My reply: "It´s usually due to Console players not using PC = less present on the forum. We have console players communicating mostly via Twitter (using their phones)"
As our experience is that Console players are more present/active on Twitter compare to DayZ forum.
Not gonna go even deeper in this as it´s pretty self-explaining.

So why not just the kill the forums and be done with it?  That's your ultimate goal anyway.

I agreed to play test AND give BI my money based on the reasonable expectation that the game would be in an acceptable state after early access. And here we are once again. Swimming in comments about how bad it is. I did my part.

Little did we know that the "I UNDERSTAND" button was nothing more than a meme.  4+ years Alpha, 1 month Beta, then release.  I cannot name any other game in history that has done that.  Hell, I cannot think of ANY software publisher that has ever done that.  And this is the debacle we continue to swim in.

  7. Is it even possible to deliver a patch that has been tested and vetted before pushing to stable?  I mean it's only been 7+ years to get the processes down to a science.   I'm willing to forgive some issues, but it's every patch, and now the hotfixes are breaking things.  You guys should really spend this entire year fixing the absolute slanderous backlog of bugs in the feedback tracker, I mean the whole year.  But that's wishful thinking on my part, my right hand is full of crap and my left hand is empty as usual.

Idk but i made for myself a script that with correct way loading firearm (pistol/rifle/intenal magazine rifle) and have no problems with that. Reloading my firearm with R key and everything works well without fast access and etc.

It's still a bug, two years old.

  9. Another absol;utely stupid bug that has been in the game over 2 years is the cursed magazine.  So on modded servers if you spawn in fresh with a weapon in hand that has a magazine loaded, you cannot use the reload shortcut, that magazine is "cursed".  You have to manually swap the mag out, and heaven forbid you keep the cursed mag in your inventory, because now that you can use the reload shortcut, if you put the cursed mag back in your weapon, you are back to square one.  PLEASE FIX THIS!   https://feedback.bistudio.com/T158378

People are paying money to host community servers that can't even be found because of this bug!!

How is this not even mentioned??

I've seen great community servers call it quits this week due to being delisted from the game. They at the least deserve the respect of being acknowledged in an attempt to fix the biggest bug in the game currently, not even being able to play it!!

Roll back the launcher change until you can figure out what broke!!!

1.19 had its own issues but at least servers were not delisted!

The only current work around to connect to the servers is knowing the IP address and direct connecting, going into your recent tab then favoriting the servers.

For years our community rented instances and servers and paid thousands and thousands of dollars.  Once I got fiber, I wised up and custom built a machine for 900 bucks that will last us for years, and thank GOD I did, because if I were a server owner right now renting a dedi or dayz instance, I would have the red ass 10X over.  The browser fail makes the piss poor excuse we have for vehicles look amazing.

It's still irritating, but at least my community is not out money because BI can't get their shit together.

Maybe in 2024, if the company is still afloat, we will receive a meaningful update to vehicles?  We have received no meaningful fix to cars since the title left beta 3+ years ago.

I like how they said "here's the plan for 2023.... oh sorry, we can't divulge most of these plans, but be prepared for more hats and zombies that do stuff, we can't tell you what that stuff is, but you best be prepared!"  You can always count on BI to be on point with messaging.

  12. I've been running DayZ servers since you could ONLY get them through 3rd party services and I can tell you as I was an early adopter of expansion that it is truly an overbloated mod. I stopped using it years ago for the bettrer. Most servers don't really need half of the  features expansions offers and while you can just turn most of them off, THEY STILL USE SOME SERVER RESOURCES.  Turning any mod off is not good enough, you must remove it from being loaded... PERIOD.  You can't really do that with Expansion.  Expansion really is the worst thing you can run on a server UNLESS you have a12th Generation CPU with a bunch of memory and don't care that you will have to limit the number of players to around 40 or 50.

I run an 11th Gen with 32 GB of memory and I wouldn't even think about running expansion.  If you are VERY careful in your mod selection and do all the research necessary, YOU can do exactly what you want without having the ill effects expansion brings.  But the number one problem with expansion is not resources, it's how often it causes problems with other mods.  Expansion is notorious for other mods not working, whether they be weapon or otherwise.  Expansion can and will often interfere with other mods.  I've seen server owners and admins try for weeks to get the expansion team and other mod creators together to fix issues to no avail.  9 times out of 10 Expansion team will tell you, that the other mod author needs to fix their stuff because the expansion team doesn't want to make changes.  There are many great mod authors that refuse to make changes to their mods to cave to the demands of the Expansion team for reasons I won't get into here but the bottom line is I would stay away from Expansion at all costs.  It's much better to roll your own and research and be very cautious about the mods you use.  And always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS use a test server with all the mods you have.  Do not just willy, nilly throw it up on a production server.  That's asking for trouble.  my .02

I'm sure there will be server admins that disagree with me and that is fine, and I'm sure the Expansion team would not care for my opinion.  At this stage in the game, IDGAF, and it's time for the community to stop accepting the status quo from ham-fisted poor quality and over bloated mods that hurt performance jsut to get a nifty widget for players that maybe only a handful actually care about.

I like this game very much, but there are many fake servers in the Chinese environment, does DayZ have a plan to fix it? can you answer me

I seriously DO NOT UNDERSTAND why we can't filter by region in the server launcher.   Many other games do this and it makes finding a server in your region MUCH easier.  VPN's are a  problem, but I believe you can identify VPN's and group them into their own category/filter.  The server list as it currently sits is as weak as minnow piss.

  14. Yeah, I would hate for cars to become stable, that immersion I get not knowing if I will get from point A to point B without the vehicle killing me.  ooohhh, it gives me the tingles.  I mean, obviously, at this point the game was developed with this in mind.  Never let the player know if he is going to die randomly in a vehicle.  He may end up in space, under the map, it's an important feature BI wants to keep around.  DayZ is not complete without it. 🙄

Lol he raided a base and it was a hacker base and they killed him. Then they got him banned. That doesn’t matter, the bottom line is it was an unfair ban, plain and simple. You guys just don’t want him to get unbanned which makes 0 sense at all. If you got banned by a bunch of hackers you guys definitely wouldn’t be saying the same thing about yourselves.

You just sound like a hater btw 👍 Thats all both of you aren doing is just attacking a streamer that was banned for literally no reason but keep it up I guess if you feel like it’s doing something for you…

Haters?  No, we've been around long enough to know that bans come in waves, and it is more than lilely that he got banned FOR SOMETHING HE DID OFF STREAM OR ON ANOTHER DAY.  Why do you care, he is streaming DayZ again on a new account?  Oh, and BTW, BI and Battleye both now know he has a new account and playing DayZ again.  Just remember, cheaters will cheat again, they always do.  He'll get another game ban soon.

OK, of all the suggestions, ^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^ is probably the best one I have heard.  It might need new animations done, but is something that I believe would be doable in a decent amount of time and I am PISSED I did not think of this myself!
